Grief brings anxiety and depression issues for everyone. But what about people already dealing with mental illness? My anxiety reached levels I didn't know existed after losing Jim. My brain responds differently than someone who never had anxiety to begin with. Today's extremely special guest on The Be Ruthless Show, Kristina Bottenberg, also struggled with anxiety and depression before her losses. Today, she shares the impact grief has had in her life, as well how she's coping through the healing. This Faces of Grief Author shares a bit about her chapter, Unconditional Love, and why sharing her story is so important. Kristina was born November of 1973, in Monterey California, moving just a few short months after her birth to Germany. Being that her father was in the army, they lived on the base there. Being an Army brat, Kristina was accustomed to moving often. They spent a few years there before moving back to the U.S and finally settling in Washington state. Growing up Kristina endured a lot of dysfunction and trauma. She persevered and throughout her early adult years had 3 beautiful, accomplished girls, one is now her guardian angel, her brightest star in the sky. Kristina is, in fact, a grieving mother. She met her second husband Dave in 2013 and in 2014 they were married and so in love. Kristina is, in fact, a grieving widow. She has 2 beautiful grandchildren from her angel Kenzie, and many bonus grandchildren through her late husband. She works full time in Skagit county, enjoys her work and her 3 cats, hiking, kayaking, fishing, camping with family and friends. Kristina is taking this time to evaluate what's important; you could lose those people that mean so much to you in the blink of an eye. And finally, Kristina is trying to learn to love herself. Life can change in ways that are so devastating, but Kristina knows there must still be beauty in living, that's why Ishe hasn't given up - though there are times she wants to. Even though she always will live with the grief and loss, because that will never go away, Kristina has hope it will coincide with joy. In this episode, Karen is joined by Amanda Johnson, a mama of 4 beautiful babies. Despite all odds and one baby even being breeched up until delivery, Amanda had a successful home birth with her twins for her most recent pregnancy. Today we'll get into all the nitty gritty of Amanda's experience with hospital versus home births, how her pregnancies varied, and how her most recent pregnancy was a massive surprise up until the very last minute of delivery! After Amanda's first labor and delivery experience that was less than ideal in the hospital, she knew she didn't want to experience that again. With her second child, she successfully gave birth at home and knew she would repeat the experience when she fell pregnant the third time… little did she know, this home birth experience would be quite rare and one to remember! EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Amanda found out she was having twins at 32 weeks and decided to have a home birth, despite concerns from family and the traditional health system Going into labor at 40 weeks 3 days with an intense but smooth 2-hour labor, delivering both twins vaginally at home Her faith and trust in God's plan helped her through the physical and financial challenges of a twin pregnancy and homebirth A home birth with twins is possible with the right support team MORE ABOUT AMANDA JOHNSON: I'm a SAHM to 4 babes ages five and under. We are a military fam currently stationed in Monterey CA! My first birth was an induction and after that whole experience, I knew it could be better. My induction was not traumatic as I truly believe I was on the brink of labor (11 days past my guess date) but the whole process from start to end felt very unnatural. When I got pregnant with my 2nd I knew I was going to have a homebirth, this was October of 2019. Luckily my midwife (Lindsey Meehleis) and I were totally aligned and she shut her office down for maybe a month during Covid. It was crazy, my husband was overseas and I thought I was going to have to deliver without him. I had my 2nd at home at the height of Covid in June 2020 and had a totally different experience than my hospital birth in the best way. When I got pregnant in 2021, I of course opted for home birth again. I didn't find out until 32 weeks that I was having twins and I truly wasn't surprised - the pregnancy felt totally different! I carried them to 40w3d and had a beautiful labor and delivery under 2 hours!!! We are excited to bring you this special podcast. It's the live recording from the very first AgEmerge Event that was held in Monterey California in 2019. It all began when Monte read a paper Dr. White had written about the rhizophagy cycle and he knew he needed to get this powerful research and information in the hands of farmers and ranchers. Dr. White had everyone on the edge of their seats as he shared this groundbreaking research. We've included Dr. White's main stage presentation along with his breakout session but first we bring you a special clip of Monte and Gabe Brown discussing that day because Gabe was both a presenter and listener when Dr. White was on the stage. Enjoy! Dr. James F. White is Professor of Plant Biology at Rutgers University where he and students conduct research on beneficial microbes that inhabit plant tissues. Dr. White obtained the M.S. in Mycology and Plant Pathology from Auburn University, Alabama, and the Ph.D. in Botany/Mycology from the University of Texas, Austin. Dr. White specializes in the study of endophytic microbes and how they affect plants. Dr. White is the author of more than 200 articles, and author and editor of reference books on the biology of endophytes, including Biotechnology of Acremonium Endophytes of Grasses (1994), Microbial Endophytes (2000), The Clavicipitalean Fungi (2004), The Fungal Community: Its Organization and Role in the Ecosystem (2005, 2017), Defensive Mutualism in Microbial Symbiosis (2009), and Seed Endophytes: Biology and Biotechnology (2019). Dr. White is a fellow of the AAAS, and Associate Editor for journals Fungal Ecology, Symbiosis, Mycoscience, and Scientific Reports. Got questions you want answered? Send them our way and we'll do our best to research and find answers. Know someone you think would be great on the AgEmerge stage or podcast? Send your questions or suggestions to kim@asn.farm we'd love to hear from you.

Hello again Fellow Golfists, I was able to take a trip to the Monterey Peninsula area and cool off from being socked into triple digit temperatures in Northern California for a few days in early August 2023. I was very excited to play golf at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey California. I had a ball meeting the staff and playing a Robert Trent Jones Senior and Junior collaboration golf course that was constructed in 1970. The course was an elevation changing, kikuyu grass fairway perfect lie creating, and smooth and firm rolling groomed greens playing experience that I really enjoyed on a simply immaculate cool breeze kind of a Friday afternoon on the Monterey Peninsula. I also got to visit The Hay at Pebble Beach and play the putting course there. I got to play with Mr Producer and Mr Content Maker at this putting course and also made a video of the outing as well. I also had a great round playing with my new Wilson Staff FG 53 Gooseneck blades during my outing at LSGC. These golf clubs are gorgeous pieces of craftsmanship from Wilson from the late 1980's. Many thanks to my "Better Half" and "Mr Producer" for making this trip possible in the first place. Without them this podcast and the content that I make for this podcast and YouTube channel would not be possible. God Bless You and Thank You for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast! Topic discuss: "Nuclear Weapons" and "Loyalty, patriotism and faith" Presenter: Imam Qamar Imran Akram Nuclear Weapons: Even though all nations agree on the catastrophic consequences of the nuclear war, less than few steps are being taken to avoid such a war and strive for peace. Those who possess these weapons are not in favor of giving them up instead North Korea doubled its weaponry. With war already happening in parts of the world as in Ukraine and Russia – developing a constant fear of nuclear use at any point, join us as we discuss the urgent need for denuclearization. Loyalty, patriotism and faith: According to recent studies, favorable views towards ‘traditional values' such as patriotism have fallen in recent years, especially in younger generations. What could be the cause of such a decline, and could it be related to a similar decline in religious affiliation? Does faith encourage one to be more patriotic? Join us as we explore the ways in which faith and patriotism are linked, and what may be causing a decline in patriotic sentiments. Guest: Connor Murray- Research Analyst at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation. His research interests include peaceful uses of nuclear technology, European foreign policy and security, and NATO. Who else can create such vivid imagery?'Cannery Row' by John Steinbeck is a short novel of carefree life set during the 1930's in Monterey, California. A set of eclectic characters go about their everyday lives, showcasing their peculiar personalities along the way. There is no real plot as the story is broken into smaller vignettes that combine to form a semi-coherent narrative.I summarised the book as follows. "A beautiful meandering story with no purpose but with plenty of meaning. I normally struggle creating visual imagery in my head yet I could see this world/era/time period so clearly. Many laugh out loud moments and many sad moments as well. Steinbeck is a great writer and also highly recommend reading his other books."I hope you have a fantastic day wherever you are in the world. The Tomb Weavers are a 1960s-inspired, garage rock trio from Monterey, Ca. consisting of Tom B. Weavers, Keigan Skydecker and Bob Gamber. The outfit's original tunes are rife with homages to those outer-limit groups. “Collecting Tyme,” radiates with crunchy, tube amplifier blues indicative of early Captain Beefheart. And Weavers' vocals bear an ambiguous, Nico-like tone—falling somewhere in between bass and tenor—adding more authenticity to the spot-on coating of traditional blotter boogie. Check out their new album "We Dig Sounds" available from Vinyl Revolution, Pacific Grove, Ca. (831) 646-9020

Hello Fellow Racing Ears,Locke De Bretteville is the President of the Classic Sports Racing Group. I remembered hearing Locke on an episode of The Vintage Racing Podcast with Greg Tatarian a few years ago and I finally was able to chat with him in this episode. Locke and I talked about his racing memories going back into the late 60s and early 70s and his relationship with Jon Norman and other friends that were from Berkeley California. We spoke about his experience driving his Pallister Winklemann Formula B racing car, how he found his car, and what its like to drive his racing car at ThunderHill Raceway in Willows California. We also chatted about the NEW event that will be June 5 - 6 2021 and happening at WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey California. I also love golf and so this was my opportunity to ask Locke about golf at Pebble Beach. We chatted a little bit about how he won the 1974 Bing Crosby National Pro-Amateur at Pebble Beach Golf Links with Johnny Miller. Johnny Miller won the tournament overall in 1974. The David Love Vintage Races will be held at Sonoma Raceway April 9 - 11 2021 and I am very much looking forward to attending this event. Hello fellow Racing Ears,My name is Trent Barr and I love historic sports car racing. I am in my late 40s and I want to start my old podcast up again. The Racing Ear started in 2014 where my goal was to go to historic racing events and record the sounds of the cars in their element, at the race track. I started with a simple hand held recorder which later evolved into shooting video with my iPhone. Along the way I have met many great people associated with historic sports car racing. I was granted access to many great events at Sonoma Raceway that was with the Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) starting in 2014. I was granted media credentials for the Porsche Rennsport Reunion V in 2015 and VI in 2018 events that were held at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey California. This podcast will now be more focused on talking with folks that are associated with historic sports car racing. Thank you so much for listening to The Racing Ear Podcast.
