In today's episode of the Be Yo'self Podcast, Torique rewinds the clock to simpler times as he reflects on old videos of himself as a baby captured on a camcorder. He dives into the age-old debate: can the art be separated from the artist? Torique also opens up about his current fashion dilemma and gives us a glimpse into what fashion looks like in the Bahamas. The conversation takes a turn into the world of sports as Torique shares his thoughts on Jimmy Butler requesting a trade and ultimately being traded from the Miami Heat to the Golden State Warriors. PROG SUPERGROUP COSMIC CATHEDRAL RELEASING DEBUT ALBUM FEATURING NEAL MORSE…CHESTER THOMPSON…PHIL KAEGGY…BYRON HOUSE… ZOOM SPECIAL EDITION WITH EX GENESIS DRUMMER CHESTER THOMPSON ON INTERVIEWING THE LEGENDS Hello everyone and we are back for another edition of Interviewing the Legends… I'm your host Ray Shasho. How do you make an album that is different to what is usually expected of you? One answer is to work with musicians who also have decades of experience and worldwide recognition, plant a few seeds, then stand back and see what happens. For the Cosmic Cathedral project and their debut album ‘Deep Water', this is exactly what Neal Morse did, joining up with Chester Thompson, Phil Keaggy & Byron House. As Keaggy comments: “It was an honor to be invited and included in the making of the Deep Water project with Neal, Chester and Byron.” Much of the album was created from jam sessions where Morse's long-time audio partner Jerry Guidroz put the best parts together, then Morse and the band developed them into songs and epics. “Much of the album, and certainly “Time To Fly”, came directly from the jam sessions, where we were spontaneously creating in the room. Even a lot of the lyrics just came out of our mouths! It was amazing!” What resulted from all this was a more groove-orientated feel, which Morse calls a “prog meets yacht rock meets The Beatles” kind of album, with an unmistakable jazz fusion influence: “These guys are real groovers: even if they're playing proggy stuff, it has more of a Steely Dan feel to it, but when Phil and I start singing it sounds like The Beatles! In Deep Water, the ‘New Revelation' section is based on a jam that turned into something that could have been on a Sting album! So, there's a lot of variety here.” And Chester Thompson says, “I am super excited for people to hear this album. There was great communication between all the players. One of my favorite projects I've ever been a part of!” And coming from someone who's played with Genesis and Frank Zappa, that's quite a statement! The album will be available as a Limited CD Digipak, Gatefold 2LP & as Digital Album. Dr. Dionna Williams is an Autistic and first-generation academic and martial artist. Dionna received their MSc and PhD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University. Dionna has received many prestigious academic fellowships and awards for her research accomplishments and commitment to diversifying academic medicine. She is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at Emory University where their research interests center on the intersection of HIV and substance use, focusing on identifying immunologic and pharmacologic means to increase the neurologic health of people living with HIV. While Dionna amassed academic and professional accomplishments they struggled with what she once considered to be a collection of seemingly unrelated quirks and social discomfort. While Dionna was always aware of these differences, they became less of a hindrance to interacting with people as she learned to suppress the things that made her most different from others. However, these strategies eventually became less effective and at the most stressful time of their life Dionna began therapy. It was through this experience that they received an autism diagnosis at the age of 35, which has been life changing. Since this realization one and a half years ago, Dionna realized all the ways in which she lived an inauthentic life and they are now committed to living a life of their own accord, unmasked, and open about the joys and challenges faced as a neurodivergent scientist from a low-income background raising the most amazing 3-year old. 3 ways you can support the podcast and the work we do... In our latest "Delayed with..." installment, we are thrilled to present a mix that comes straight from the heart of the UK, courtesy of the dynamic collective and record label Simpler Times. Hailing from the vibrant nexus of Sheffield and Manchester, Simpler Times is a group of four close friends who have been making waves in deep and emotive electronic music since 2020. Their journey began with the release of "Wrong Conversations," a project that featured tracks from three of their talented members. Not too long ago, we premiered the "Full Circle" track by David, part of the "Moments EP," which quickly found its way into the crates of DJs worldwide. The mix they've prepared for us exudes a bright yet melancholic atmosphere, setting the perfect tone for an emotional musical journey. Imagine yourself on a hazy dance floor as the sun dips below the horizon and the panoramic cityscape unfolds. This musical escapade promises to carry you from the afternoon into the tranquil beauty of a sunset. https://soundcloud.com/simplertimesuk https://www.instagram.com/simpler_times_uk/ https://simplertimesuk.bandcamp.com www.itsdelayed.com www.instagram.com/_____delayed/ www.facebook.com/itsdelayed

David, one of the co-founders of the renowned UK-based record label Simpler Times, presents a beautiful musical journey with his latest track, "Full Circle," featured on his upcoming EP, aptly titled 'Moments.' You will find yourself instantly mesmerized by the atmospheric tones that dominate 'Full Circle.' David's meticulous production techniques breathe life into the track, conjuring a gorgeous sonic landscape that envelops the senses. The ethereal pads serve as a celestial backdrop, evoking a sense of otherworldly beauty and creating a transcendent atmosphere. Complementing this ethereal foundation are the Traumprinz-esque vocal samples, which add a touch of enigmatic charm, further enhancing the track's emotive qualities. What truly sets 'Full Circle' apart is its irresistible groove that pulsates throughout the composition. David skillfully crafts a rhythmic foundation that takes hold of the listener, beckoning them to move to its seductive beat. The rumbling groove acts as a driving force, propelling the track forward with relentless energy and injecting it with a distinct sense of dancefloor magnetism. 'Moments.' EP will be a vinyl-only release with no plans for repressing. This limited edition release further enhances the anticipation surrounding the EP's launch on June 16. https://soundcloud.com/davidmusicuk https://soundcloud.com/simplertimesuk https://www.instagram.com/simpler_times_uk/ https://simplertimesuk.bandcamp.com www.itsdelayed.com www.instagram.com/_____delayed/ www.facebook.com/itsdelayed

Who else can create such vivid imagery?'Cannery Row' by John Steinbeck is a short novel of carefree life set during the 1930's in Monterey, California. A set of eclectic characters go about their everyday lives, showcasing their peculiar personalities along the way. There is no real plot as the story is broken into smaller vignettes that combine to form a semi-coherent narrative.I summarised the book as follows. "A beautiful meandering story with no purpose but with plenty of meaning. I normally struggle creating visual imagery in my head yet I could see this world/era/time period so clearly. Many laugh out loud moments and many sad moments as well. Steinbeck is a great writer and also highly recommend reading his other books."I hope you have a fantastic day wherever you are in the world. Leading others requires a unique skill set that has to be developed over time. Every day we see people thrown into management without any training and little support. Our guests, Megan Biever and Kelsey Isaacson, of Step Up 2 Success, share their experiences with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This is utilized in schools to help students who have need for additional measures to empower them to achieve. Many managers feel like they are babysitting. We discuss ways to rise above that mentality and implement a structure for making ongoing progress toward you goals. When we step back from our dysfunctions we can see the bigger picture to understand how developing a better people process will lead to better outcomes for all. Megan and Kelsey will help you to expand your perspective on what is possible. While many people think that positive behavior rewards bad actors, they will outline how their system is quite the opposite. Their principles will help leaders to elevate their emotional intelligence and apply soft skills in a practical way. Jon Isaacson has released his book, Be Intentional: Estimating available now as a Kindle E Book and in paperback from Amazon. It's a chamber of commerce day. The Santa Ana winds will be blowing the heat back in town soon. Iggy had a catch with a lonely neighbor boy. FPCC. Cuck Cup. I want to to kiss my co worker. The 360 machine was pilfered. Fear City. Why do young people look old in pics from back in the day. Matted shrubs were rampant in older times. Simpler times.
The Michelle Blevins shares her experiences with communicating, branding and innovating through the various mediums available to all property restoration, construction and insurance professionals. Rather than approaching social media with fear and loathing, for the DYOJO Podcast Episode 25, we discuss various approaches to thriving by building a clear culture, developing a consistent product and communicating what makes your organization unique. Michelle Blevins in the editor in chief of Restoration and Remediation Magazine (R&R), she is also a recruiter for Wylander Solutions and she is one of the few professionals we have had on the podcast that are working in the field they set out and studied for. Prior to R&R she was executive producer for Heritage Broadcasting. Michelle is constantly working behind the scenes to keep relevant content flowing for the property restoration industries premier media outlet as well as innovating ideas such as the Women in Restoration Award and The Ladder Award for young professionals. One thought that Michelle brought up is that fear of bad reviews should not be a deterrent to engaging your market through social media. A negative review can provide you with an opportunity to address shortfalls in your process and perhaps by documenting that process you can turn a potential negative into a glowing positive. We know that it is impossible not to make mistakes, but a lot can be gained by how we approach and respond to those errors.
