Season 2 of She Shield Podcast is here! In this episode, Sofia interviews Michelle Waterson-Gomez, widely known as the Karate Hottie, steps into a completely different kind of conversation, one that goes far beyond the cage. She opens up about where she's at now after her professional fighting career, and the identity shift that comes with stepping away from something that once defined everything. This episode dives into the reality of balancing motherhood with a high-level fight career: the pressure, the guilt, the discipline, and the constant question of “Am I doing enough in either role?” Michelle shares what it really looked like behind the scenes, and how becoming a mother didn't weaken her as a fighter, but reshaped her entirely. The conversation also explores a deeper, more personal mindset: how she determines whether she's truly ready, not just for a fight, but for the next chapter of life. Because the hardest battles aren't always physical. Now, Michelle is channeling everything she's learned into something bigger. From raising her daughter in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to building and leading her own school, she's focused on equipping women with real, practical self-defense skills, and the mindset to back it up.This is a raw look at transition, identity, and what it means to keep fighting, even when it no longer looks the same.If you've ever questioned your next step, struggled with balance, or wondered what comes after your biggest chapter… this one hits.Episode Resources & Ways to Support the Show

Mom guilt has shaped so many seasons of our motherhood journeys, but it does not hold the same power it once did. In this honest and reflective conversation, we look back on what used to weigh heavily on our hearts and compare it to the much shorter lists we carry today. From work-related guilt and feeling torn between responsibilities, to struggling to fully enjoy our kids while managing the chaos of daily life, we share the real-time challenges we are still navigating. We also open up about the pressure of meeting different needs within the same family and how growth, perspective, and practical shifts have helped us loosen guilt's grip. Our hope is that hearing where we have been and how far we have come helps you peel back a layer of guilt in your own motherhood story.Key Topics Covered:Amy's early fears about bonding, attachment, and whether her firstborn would recognize her after returning to work. The internal struggle around justifying time with friends during the early years of motherhood.Abby's vulnerable admission of questioning whether she was cut out for motherhood during a difficult phase. The specific work pressures that tend to trigger guilt in this current season.Navigating overlapping sports schedules and creating a fair system when multiple kids need to be in different places at once.Wanting meaningful one-on-one time with each child but feeling stretched thin. The emotional load of managing kids versus enjoying them.Parenting a spirited child whose needs require extra time and attention.Practical mindset shifts that have helped us move from shame toward self-compassion.LINKS AND RESOURCES:Listen to Episode 12. In this episode of Cutting Through the Noise, Hayley Mears sits down with salon owner and entrepreneur Sheridan Rose Shaw for a deeply honest conversation about growth, motherhood, and redefining leadership during major life transitions.Sheridan shares what the past year has looked like as her business continues to expand while welcoming her second daughter, Queenie. While the growth has been exciting, she opens up about the reality behind the scenes — navigating postpartum anxiety, battling mastitis, and learning to slow down after years of being driven by ambition and momentum. The conversation explores how these experiences reshaped Sheridan's approach to leadership and business. Rather than working constantly in the salon, she began shifting her focus to working on the business — bringing on a manager, Tom, and implementing backend systems like Trello to support daily operations and allow the team to thrive without her being across every detail.Sheridan also speaks about the importance of daily rituals that support her wellbeing and mindset. Breathwork, meditation, and intentional moments of stillness have become non-negotiable anchors that help her stay present both as a mother and as a leader.A self-described “fast manifester,” Sheridan reflects on the power of clarity and commitment when pursuing goals. Once she sets her mind on a vision, she pours her energy into making it happen — a mindset that has shaped both her career and her personal growth. The episode also highlights the importance of mentorship and collaboration within the industry, including Sheridan's long-standing connection with award-winning hairdresser Chris Benson, whose guidance and support have played a role in her development. This is a thoughtful and vulnerable conversation about ambition, resilience, and learning how to evolve as both a business owner and a parent. In this episode, we cover:Growing a salon business while welcoming a second childPostpartum anxiety, mastitis, and the realities of new motherhoodTransitioning from working in the business to working on itBuilding systems and hiring leadership supportThe role of daily rituals in maintaining mental wellbeingManifestation, mindset, and turning vision into actionThe value of mentorship and industry collaboration

Today, I interviewed Meagan Norris, a lawyer and certified life coach who helps Empaths strategize the best divorce possible. We've all heard the horror stories of getting divorced. The fighting, the power plays, narsaccist behaviors and so on. It can take a major toll on your physical, financial and emotional well being. Meagan says that Somewhere between concious uncoupling (Gwenyth Paltrow) and Brad Pitt and Angelina's 7 year divorce, there's a happier medium that one can fall into. She offers 3 strategies to a happier divorce process. The key is to keep your eye on the  Objective, to look for potholes that slow the process; to dodge the power plays. Here's to a Happier, Freer YOU. Our audience asked questions:What if my spouse is delaying the process? How can I deflect power plays when my spouse is hard to deal with?Should I stay married for the children? When do you know when it's time to file paperwork and proceed with divorce? How can moms of teens show up for their children, during this difficult process? We talk boundaries, strategies and more. If you are going thru divorce or know someone who needs to hear this, check it out and send to your friends. It's a game changer. Is your marriage salvageable? Check out Episode 60. It's a story of a fractured marriage on the brink of divorce and how a last minute trip to Italy brought redemption and hope to the entire family.Stephanie's Bio: Stephanie Pletka is a mom of 4, a motivational speaker, best selling author of Living Your Best Life and host of the Motherhood Mindset, a weekly podcast to help women navigate the messy parts of motherhood. Today we're talking about how to handle difficult family members over the holidays. Oh, this is a good one. Do you remember those holiday Coca Cola ads with the Norman Rockwell paintings? Rockwell perfectly captured the essence of what Christmas could be. You didn't have the weird aunt that said:  will u look at my mole to see if it had changed.  There was no fighting at the kitchen table over who ate the last piece of fried chicken. Rockwell's paintings were the essence of perfection in American culture. We, on the other hand, were not. Our family was more like a National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, you tell a kid, hey: take the Christmas tree box to the garage and he hears: slide down the stairwell and break out 3 banisters.  4 Steps to Successfully Navigating Difficult Family Members During the Holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) Living Your Best Life Book on Amazon or where all books are sold. Are you feeling frustrated or overwhelmed in motherhood? Is motherhood a joy or a burden? I think it's safe to say both, it depends on the moment right?!? But what is that overarching mindset of motherhood in the season you're in? In this episode Sasha explores the different mindsets we can have towards motherhood and where some of them may come from. She explores the different ways our focus can foster overwhelm, but also how it can produce peace and joy when we choose to focus on our call to motherhood in scripture.  Sasha shares some testimony of her various motherhood mindsets throughout different seasons of life and how God has met her in the season she is currently in to bring her joy, comfort, and a grateful heart focusing on her little blessings. She also speaks to the Motherhood Commission and shares other scriptures to help remind your heart and mind of God's truth towards motherhood.  Need a motherhood mindset shift? Are you chained to your phone? Text, email, pinging sounds reminding you to call a friend, to check a voice mail left by telemarketers. It's a relentless barrage of cognitive overload, holding us captive. What if, instead of taking a picture of every place we've traveled, we truly experinced the moment with the people we love. We sat and listened and laughed and at the smores and shared the stories  kept the phone in our purpse or pocket.  We spent a month traveling the U.S. did an experiment to see how it could change our lives, build stronger relationships and better communication, if we focused on each other, rather than mindlessly grabbing our phones and missing what really matters most, each other.  Research shows that 29% of travelers said if they could not take a picture and document their experience on social media, they would rather not go. She has a master's degree in Christian ministry and pastoral leadership from Grand Canyon University, is a member of Changing A generation, serving in the nursing home ministry and street evangelism. Topic: Are you looking for our own answers, trying to survive life on your own terms? Are you seeking a RELATIONSHIP with God, instead of towing a RELIGIOUS LINE, with all its faults and legalisms, trying to survive life on your own terms? How to create a happier, healthier relationship with God, full of hopefullness and connection.Did Covid, a bad relgious experience or church closures created new habits that set us on a different path?  Perhaps  we are trying to go it alone. And do life without God. We can discuss the reasons why people often walk away from their roots. ~ Results of doing life without God: the struggles. ~ As humans, we want to belong, to have identity and purpose. We are looking for something to cling to. ~ We are meant to have connection and community: walking through life alone creates isolation, fear, a disconnect, anger.~ Connection creates: hope, opportunity. We are better together. Partnering with Christ. Scriptures: I can do all things Thru Christ who gives me strength. That doesn't mean that whatever we ask will Come out in our favor, but it does mean that we don't have to go it alone. That there is something greater than us in this world.  Phil 4:13No weapon formed against me shall prosper and all those that rise up against us shall fall.Isaiah 54:17That God has a plan for your life, to give u a future and a hope.
