Listeners will discover how equanimity functions as a stabilizing force in our emotional lives. Margaret emphasizes that it allows us to experience deep compassion, loving-kindness, and joyousness without being overwhelmed by our feelings. By observing our reactions to the roadside scenarios—where a stranger elicits mild compassion, a neighbor stirs more involvement, and a best friend creates profound emotional turbulence—she elucidates the varying shades of our emotional engagement and the importance of a balanced response. Throughout the discussion, Margaret stresses the importance of "not self" (non-attachment) as a foundational practice for cultivating equanimity. This practice encourages us to observe situations with clarity and discernment, freeing us from being engulfed by our emotions. She also highlights that true compassion encompasses both emotional understanding and practical actions, such as offering assistance to those in need. Importantly, equanimity does not imply cold detachment; rather, it invites a mindful approach to life's challenges, providing us with the tools to navigate our emotions with grace.

The power to feel emotionally safe, even when life feels uncertain, might be the greatest gift you can give yourself after divorce. But our brains make this challenging in ways you might not realize.  Have you ever wondered why leaving an unhappy marriage feels so terrifying, even when you know it's the right choice? The answer lies in how your brain processes certainty versus uncertainty. Your amygdala—the primitive part of your brain responsible for survival—doesn't distinguish between physical threats and emotional ones. When divorce disrupts your predictable patterns, your brain interprets this uncertainty as danger, triggering fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses that can leave you feeling constantly anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck.  What's fascinating is how we can mistake familiarity for safety. Even in disconnected or toxic relationships, the predictability creates a false sense of security. Your brain says: "I know what to expect here, therefore I'm safe"—even when you're deeply unfulfilled.  The transformative truth? Uncertainty itself isn't dangerous. We live with it constantly! The key is learning to create emotional safety for yourself without requiring external certainty. In this episode you'll learn the first steps to dismantle false safety mechanisms and build true emotional security. If this podcast resonated with you in any way, please take a minute to follow and give me a rating wherever you listen to podcasts. To schedule your complimentary consult with Karin click here. For more information and full show notes go to:https://www.karinnelsoncoaching.com/post/ep213

What To Do With Your Divorce Anger

Becoming You Again

Anger is perhaps the most misunderstood emotion in a woman's divorce journey. While society readily accepts men's anger, women are often told to push it down, stay calm, or avoid this powerful emotion altogether. This harmful double standard creates an additional barrier to healing that we need to address head-on.  In this empowering episode, I break down exactly what anger is from a neurological perspective - a survival response originating in our amygdala, designed to protect us when we feel threatened. By understanding the distinction between anger-triggering thoughts, the physical sensations in your body, and your behavioral responses, you gain the clarity needed to process this emotion in healthy ways.  The heart of this episode offers seven practical, accessible techniques to process anger safely without damaging relationships or suppressing your emotions. From physical approaches like wall-pushing and "rage dancing" to more subtle practices like controlled breathing and self-holding that can be done anywhere, you'll discover methods that resonate with your unique needs. I share my personal favorites (including singing at the top of my lungs when no one's around!) and explain why finding your own go-to techniques is essential for long-term emotional resilience.  Most importantly, you'll learn that anger itself isn't the problem - it's a normal, natural human emotion that deserves space in your healing journey. The real issues arise when we react impulsively or push anger down, pretending it doesn't exist. By developing intentional ways to process this powerful emotion, you reclaim your right to feel everything without judgment, take back your power, and move closer to becoming yourself again.  If this podcast resonated with you in any way, please take a minute to follow and give me a rating wherever you listen to podcasts. To schedule your complimentary consult with Karin click here. For more information and full show notes go to:https://www.karinnelsoncoaching.com/post/ep207

A Toast to Tradition and Innovation    Paul K: Welcome to another episode of "Wine Talks"! Today, we're popping the cork on a conversation that's rich in history and flavor with the illustrious Veronique Sanders, director and president of Chateau Haut Bailly in the Pessac Leognon district.   Veronique: Thank you, Paul! I'm excited to share our journey and passion with your listeners.   Paul K kicks things off by reminiscing about the days of his father's involvement in the wine business. He talks about the indispensable role of marketing and personal interaction, essentials that have defined the industry for decades. Paul K: The wine industry has seen so many changes, especially with the rise and fall of wine consumption among younger generations. Marketing and genuine connections have always been key, but it's challenging when people opt for drinks filled with artificial ingredients. Veronique shares a delightful story about serving wine at an elaborate dinner at Versailles, painting a picture of elegance and heritage. Veronique: It was truly an honor to serve our wine at Versailles. Our wine, like the castle, has a storied past. We pour our hearts into every bottle, and it's rewarding to share that passion. Paul K shifts the subject to the changing palate of today's wine drinkers. They both explore the current preference for structured, complex, and terroir-driven wines. Veronique: Great wines should evoke a unanimous emotional response. It's less about tasting notes and more about the personal connection, the experience. Paul K agrees, emphasizing the emotional ties and memories that a truly great wine can inspire. They mention Bordeaux's classifications, with a special nod to the distinctiveness of the Saint Emilion classification. In a moment that brings together the past and the future, Veronique recounts the legacy and mission of Chateau aux Bailly while highlighting her son's involvement in the family tradition. Veronique: Winemaking is not just a profession; it's a mission driven by passion. It's about serving the terroir and passing it down to the next generation. My son is already deeply involved, and it's heartwarming to see his enthusiasm. They touch on the importance of respecting the character of the appellation de with strict French rules, contrasting it with the more varied production methods observed elsewhere. Paul K: It's interesting to see the balance between maintaining tradition and adapting to market demands, especially with the Internet reshaping how we buy and sell wine. Veronique chimes in, noting the advancement of technology and its impact, yet emphasizing that the heart of winemaking—nature—remains untamed and unpredictable. Veronique: Nature decides the outcome. It's a humbling process, but it's also what makes winemaking so beautiful. The episode rounds off with a discussion on the increasing presence of women in the wine industry, highlighting how women like Veronique are making significant strides. As they bid farewell, Paul K invites Veronique to visit LA, leaving listeners with a hearty invitation to subscribe to "Wine Talks with Paul Kalemkiarian" Paul K: Remember, join us next time for more stories from the world of wine. Cheers! Veronique: À bientôt! And with that, another vibrant chapter in the book of wine is shared, adorned with passion, history, and an ever-evolving future.

Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference: 1:01 {Yoga Pants & Ripped Jeans?} Ladies on the worship team sometimes wear yoga pants and ripped jeans. I think that goes against the Romans 14 principle of not causing a brother to stumble. What do you think? 21:29 {Did Jesus’ Atonement Require His Divinity?} Why was it necessary for Jesus to be fully divine in regard to our salvation? Wayne Grudem states, “Only someone who is the infinite God could bear the full penalty for all the sins of all those who would believe in Him…" Do you agree, and are there any other reasons stated in Scripture? 25:54 {Daniel: The Iron & Clay Kingdom} What is your interpretation of the 4th kingdom made of iron & clay in Daniel 2? 30:36 {Did God Need to Create Humans?} It may be a simple question, but why did God create humans? I’d be happy to get your insight. He didn’t need to, or did he? 36:35 {Do Tiny Choices Affect History?} Should Christians ever concern themselves with ideas like the butterfly effect (the idea that tiny choices have big impacts on history)? 38:38 {Ministering to LDS Members} I showed some LDS members your Book of Abraham video, but because they believe they heard from the Holy Spirit, biblical arguments haven’t worked. How can I show that they haven’t heard the Spirit? 45:18 {When Were the Apostles Saved?} When were the Apostles saved? They didn't have the full knowledge of what Jesus was doing until His appearance after His resurrection. Could they be considered "saved" before Pentecost? 47:40 {Will God Reveal when our Thinking is Unbiblical?} Philippians 3:15 says God will reveal when our thinking is opposed to His calling. How, then, do so many dedicated Christians get all the way through life still utterly confused about essential moral issues? 52:02 {How to Tell When Love Has Become Idolatry} Have I made my crush an idol? I’ve found myself crushing on a brother in Christ. I’ve also found that sometimes I prefer thinking about him more than God. I don’t want to do this. Any advice? 56:48 {Are Drugs OK if they’re Grown Naturally?} Is Genesis 1:29 allowing us to smoke weed and to eat magic mushrooms because they’re found naturally? Hasn’t sin surely had a big impact after the fall, on vegetation? 1:00:45 {The Bible on Transgenderism} What is the best biblical case against transgender behavior? 1:04:31 {Did God Die / Is Mary God’s Mother?} Can we say God died since Jesus died? And can we say Mary is the mother of God? 1:08:38 {Can We Add Punctuation to Scripture?} A pastor at a local Bible study wants me to add punctuation to a section of Scripture that is just words to see multiple meanings. I feel uncomfortable with this. What are your thoughts on doing this? 1:10:03 {How to Grow in Self-Control} Because it is a fruit of the Spirit, is self-control a teachable skill like in Titus 2, or a gift of the Spirit? What practical advice do you have to get more emotional and verbal self-control? 1:16:11 {Must our Salvation Produce an Emotional Response?} Most Christians have a moment where they break down and weep as they realize what Jesus did for them on the cross. Is it normal to not have experienced this? I'm grateful, but also weirdly indifferent. 1:18:43 {Is Reading the Bible Better than Listening?} I have difficulty reading the Bible, and I think that listening to the Bible (like an audio Bible) might be helpful, but I feel like I'm missing something by not reading it. Any thoughts? 1:20:50 {Is it OK to Correct our Parents?} Is correcting your parents biblical, and what do you do if they do not respect correction? 1:24:32 {About Love in 1 Cor. 13:7} What does it mean practically that “Love bears all things, believes all thin
