Alright people! Two years ago, we wrapped Talkin' Thrones, our Game of Thrones recap show. Today, close to its 20th Anniversary, Luk Reviews and Dom the Movie Nerd begin their next massive legacy TV recap undertaking: Talkin' Lost! A retrospective and breakdown of Lost, the show that ran the airwaves for 6 years before the premieres of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and the onset of the streaming era! Taking place on a deserted island and following the survivors of a plane crash, the show follows the massive ensemble cast as they struggle to survive against the supernatural forces on the island, as well as letting us in on their respective backstories and traumas. Luk, having never seen the show, is excited to be onboard with Dom, who's seen the show only once! It's going to be a big, but exciting undertaking. We get a little different, a little weird and a little experimental today. But it's for a Jordan Peele movie, so it's to be expected. Dom the Movie Nerd is joined by his friend from college Takeena Strachan to discuss the third feature film from Jordan Peele. At one point a staple of Comedy Central with his sketch show Key & Peele, Jordan Peele has evolved into one of the most daring and experimental young filmmakers, who's bold and experimental takes on tried and true ideas really sets him out alongside the Christopher Nolan's of the world as someone who's every film turns into an event. This time, he takes to the deserts of the American West to make a film that's one part western, one part extraterrestrial thriller and one part homage to cinema. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer & Steven Yeun in a film that sees what happens when an alien craft starts sucking up all the life and causing havoc around an isolated western area. Dom & Takeena talk about Peele's intent with the film, what he was attempting to say here, how this compares to his previous two films and what this ultimately means in the current cinematic landscape. They talk about Brando's recent trip to Disney World and how the entire environment feels different before launching into yet another crusade about the MCU and just how much it's changed in the post-pandemic world. Then they talk about some of the most recent movie news, including Variety's Star Wars article discussing their new trajectory on television as well as the recent casting of Christopher Walken as the Padishah Emperor in Denis Villeneuve's upcoming Dune Part II. After comparing movies that were released on their birthdays, with it being revealed that Marvel's She-Hulk will be opening on Dom's birthday this year, they then launch into their discussion on the Star Wars prequels, how their perception has changed over time, and how they are viewed in comparison to the entire saga and how they will be viewed going forward. It's a different kind of a conversation, but one that definitely warrants listening. It's a moment of celebration. We put up the episode a day later, but that's ok, because we're talking about the next in a long line of delayed shows because of the pandemic. Sean of Math Teacher Movies joins Dom the Movie Nerd to discuss the premiere of the long awaited sixth and final season of "Better Call Saul," the prequel/spinoff to Vince Gilligan's critically acclaimed midlife crisis drama "Breaking Bad." After Breaking Bad wrapped its fifth and final season back in 2013, Gilligan and co-showrunner then moved onto Saul, which centered around the origins of the Saul Goodman character portrayed by Bob Odenkirk. Formerly known as Jimmy McGill, the show follows how the destabilizing relationship between Jimmy & his brother Chuck (Michael McKean) leads him down the dark road towards the life of crime. Likewise, it also serves as such for the character of Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), the elderly hitman and fixer as he ends up joining Gus Fring's (Giancarlo Esposito) criminal empire as Fring wages war with the cartel. Dom & Sean talk all about this show's history, how it got to where it is today, the gap of time between the last season and now as a result of the pandemic, whether this show is the last of its kind, and what it spells for the future of TV and the Albaquerque saga. It's all covered every week only on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support

We're back! After a much needed break, Professor Pat & the Movie Nerd are back to recap the rest of Game of Thrones! We pick up right where we left off with the Season 4 Premiere, Two Swords! This episode served as a bit of a soft reboot of the series, once again signifying the ultimate victory the Lannisters achieved over the Starks with Tywin's symbolic melting of Ned Stark's Valyrian steel sword Ice. The rest of the episode bounces back and forth between Jaime struggling to learn his new position in the King's Landing pecking order as they prepare for Joffrey & Margaery's wedding, while Tyrion has to deal with the arrival of Oberyn Martell, prince of Dorne who is hot on the Lannisters for their part in the murder of his sister. We also check in briefly with the other ancellary characters as Sansa deals with her grief in King's Landing; Jon warns the Night's Watch about the pending attack while the Wildlings deal with some surly new allies; and Daenerys begins to learn the price that comes with ruling. What's going on crazy people! This is your guy, your dude, the D-Rizzle aka the Movie Nerd coming at you with another episode of our up and coming little podcast, the one and only Talkin' TV! And guys, in case you're wondering why I'm trying to sound like a wannabe rapper, it's because I'm excited because we finally have a new movie to review!!!! I never thought I'd see the day. We're still all stuck in quarantine and miserable, but at the very least, we can take solace in the fact that pretty much every movie that was made under $400 million will now be released direct to video! So, in honor of the TRUE death of cinema (not that anti-superhero rhetoric that Scorsese unfortunately got pegged with last year), sit back and enjoy Chris & mine's frank discussion of the sophomore effort from the guy who made easily my FAVORITE debut movie in 2018, Bad Education! Starring Hugh Jackman, Allison Janney, Ray Romano, and a bunch of other people you guys have never heard of! But that's fine! Sit back, relax, and enjoy our episode on Bad Education!
