If you've kept up with the Seat Time videos, you know the Astra Offroad Handlebars I had on the Sherco were one of the parts that truly changed the way I rode the two stroke. When I got on the GasGas, I knew I also wanted to ride with the low-rise Astra handlebars. I learned the hard way that the weight and rotating mass of a four stroke changes the handling characteristics of the motorcycle, creating the need for a higher rise handlebars than I previously thought. In this video, I discuss the testing I did to find the right handlebar position for the Astra Gemini 38mm rise handlebars I'm now running on the EX 350F. I also added a few podcast snippets from Jörli at Astra on more specifics of four stroke handlebar positioning and handlebar sweep. I learned a lot during this process, and I hope you do too.The handlebar video is on the Seat Time Youtube channel and the article will be on the Seat Time Substack SOON. Enjoy #GettingSeattime & Stay #Stoked!

The White Rock Enduro was exactly what I was looking for in a technical enduro. The roads were dusty, but the rocks and roots in the trail were still slick as all get out.I was on row 28 again, this time following Dylan Souther from Colorado. We went back and forth all day. When it got tight, I would catch and pass him. The other times, he would either out ride me, or I would crash myself into oblivion.Run Time on the Sherco at the 2024 White Rock Enduro was 4:28 & the miles were at 67.6. I was 12th Overall and 4th in the 40A Class. Fast old dudes, I LOVE IT!P.S. I don't know that I want to race this event when it's wet and/or raining. I probably should though, so I can find a way to overcome the fear of having to attempt a few hillclimbs more than once.Tip: Gummy trail tire next time for sure!Check out the video on the Seat Time Youtube channel for more good times!Support the show

Check out our line of motorcycle helmet chin mounts here -https://wannabes.life Check out the Clever Lever on the Midwest Mountain Engineering website here - https://www.midwestme.com/find-your-lever/midwest-moutain-engineering/find-the-right-lever Today on the WannaBes Mobcast we are going to be talking about a hidden gem of a product called the Clever Lever from Midwest Mountain Engineering and we are bringing on none other than the engineer and designer of this great product, Steve Pohl. We got to learn about how Steve got the idea for the Clever Lever which of course had its roots in a broken bike story. Over the course of the last fourteen years, the Clever Lever has grown to cover a wide range of European bikes like KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Sherco, Beta, Husaberg, TM, and a few others. If you don't already know, the Clever Lever is a clutch lever that reduces the amount of force required to pull in the clutch lever by fifty percent thereby reducing fatigue and arm pump. This allows you to ride harder for longer and get the most out of your dirt bike. The Clever Lever also allows you to take advantage of the full length of the clutch pull stroke. This means that you have to fully pull the clutch lever in to take the clutch plates from fully engaged to fully disengaged. This effectively increases the clutch contact patch throughout the length of the clutch pull which allows you to modulate the clutch better and apply the right about of power to the ground without losing traction. What is nice about the force reduction is that you only need to use one finger in order to modulate the clutch which means that you can have a shorter lever and more fingers wrapped around the handlebars for better control. If you are picky about the ergonomics and the look and feel of your controls, Midwest Mountain Engineering also sells a matching brake lever as well. One important thing that we talk about is how to install and tune the Clever Lever so that you are getting the most out of this great product. As a product that lets you finely tune the adjustment, it is important to set the clutch lever up right. Otherwise, you may find that your clutch plates either won't fully engage or disengage. Included in your purchase are a very detailed set of installation instructions and Steves stresses how important it is to follow those instructions fully so that you don't end up frying a clutch. The best part is that Steve is there to help if you can't quite figure out how it works and he backs up the Clever Lever with a satisfaction guarantee. What we love about the Clever Lever is that it's not only a great product but it is as grassroots as you can get. Steve saw a solution to a problem and he solved it. That shows in the fact that Midwest Mountain Engineering has grown by word of mount from its inception and continues to grow on the basis of a great product. Sebastien Loeb/Fabian Lurquin (BRX) 1h 48:32 2. Mattias Ekstrom/Emil Bergkvist (Audi) a 3:04 3. Lucas Moraes/Timo Gottschalk) a 5:22 4. Nasser Al-Attiyah/Mathieu Baumel (Toyota) a 5:45 5. Yazeed Al-Rajhi/Dirk Von Zitzewitz (Toyota) a 6:01 ... 6. Kuba Przygonsky/Armand Monleón (Mini) a 6:14 9. Hen Lategan/Bred Cummings (Toyota) a 7:59 26. Juan Yacopini/Dani Oliveras (Toyota) a 13:28 54. Isidre Esteve/Txema Villalobos (Toyota) a 20:55 96. Laia Sanz/Maurizio Gerini (Astara) a 46:48 118. Who does that???LikesThis 250 feels more like a 300 - yesterday I was lugging the crap out of it on the trailssimple, carb bike, not many frills... Just runsStarts Really fast - that is a breath of fresh air after coming off some of the other bikesFeels really agile in the front end even though the forks are pretty low in the triple clamps. I could raise them even more and get it to feel even lighter. Since I'm running Mnt single track this summer, I might try that since generally the speeds are slower there.Comes with factory installed radiator fan - great! It runs a lot when riding the slower stuff, don't get to program when it comes on, but it also shuts off when the ignition stops. Good.Don't like as muchI honestly think the suspension is valved a touch stiff for the really rocky nasty stuff - it's more in line for faster desert stuff, but the geometry feels like it's designed to go slowVibrates a lot more than the counterbalanced Austrian bikes - you get used to it though.Clutch feels heavier than on a KTM/Husky/GasGas bike. Finger fatigue More of a cramped feel in the cockpit. I think it would be great if you are 5'10" and under. I'm 6 feel and it feels too small.Pegs take getting used to, but I installed the Fastway pegs and they create another problem with my feet - pressure pointDon't like the Michelin tires that come on the bikeGrip compound is hard for me. I will likely try to find some short bar risers to get a little more comfort therehas great bottom end power, but seems to sign off quicker, or get flatter quicker than my KTM 250 XC. Check out our line of enduro, MX, MTB, and ADV helmet specific chin mounts for actions cameras! - https://shop.wannabes.life In our second episode of the WannaBes Mobcast we talk to Anthony Johnson, the up and coming EnduroCross racer who is making a name for himself not only on the track but also on social media as well. Check out Anthony Johnson on Instagram here. https://www.instagram.com/anthonyjohn... In our first episode we got to hear from Graham Jarvis who we all know is one of the greatest riders of all time. For this episode we decided to go to the other end of the spectrum and learn form someone who is just starting out his enduro racing career. Anthony Johnson is 19 years old and lives in Northern Idaho where he trains to take the podium. We talked to Anthony about how he got started and what sparked his interest in EnduroCross, his training routine, riding in Idaho, cross training, and enduro techniques that were very insightful for anyone who rides. Among many other interesting things about Anthony, he rides a Sherco 300 which of course we had to know more about that as well as how he sets up his bike. Living in an area where we don't see many Sherco's, we found it very interesting to learn about the bikes form someone who has a lot of seat time on one. We finished the podcast by talking a bit about how Anthony intends to make a career out of being a professional athlete, not only through the traditional means of sponsorship but also thought the use of social channels and other methods. Lastly we had a few bonus questions that lead to a great story and a good laugh that you'll have to watch the episode to hear about :)

Veteran game designer Brien Martin rhapsodizes about his wealth of playing experience across all tabletop sports. Fans of recently released Fast Drive Football have no doubt noted Brien's World Football League replay with his homebrewed cards. He's also thinking creating a fictitious "living league" for the game. Of his many credits, one of Brien's crowning achievements is partnering with Steve LeShay, creator of SherCo Grand Slam Baseball, to revive that classic in 2016 (the game celebrated its 50th anniversary two years later). Brien redesigned the rule books and stadiums and created decades worth of new seasons. Brien's experience runs the gamut across all the best-known games — and some of the more obscure ones. He also contrasts war and sports games, particular their disparate rule books. This is part 2 of my chat with Brad Baumert. If you haven't listened to Episode 71, please go back and give it a listen. To recap it all, this is the amazing story of how a passion in sport can drive you into business. With a bit of tongue in cheek, it is also somewhat a cautionary tale of not knowing when to quit. In all seriousness though, Brad Baumert has been a driving force (literally & figuratively) behind trials in the USA for a number of years. We hear about the origins of RYP (Ryan Young Products) which from humble beginnings became a quite serious business. However success is measured in more than money, and the way previous guests have spoken about Brad tells you all you need to know about the calibre of the man and the impression he has left on so many. Brad and Ryan through RYP made Sherco the envy of other manufacturers with the professionalism and market penetration in the US, illustrated by the fact that at a point in time, every rider in the USA pro class was on a Sherco! Brad was instrumental in establishing training camps for youth riders that continue on to this day; he was a mechanic at the pits supporting his riders for years and years and bus driver shuttling his team across the country. Between all this, RYP wasn't the only company he had to run and he still had a family. He was also proud of his riders achievements and reflects on the sporting success of team RYP; and the circular loop that appears to have begun with his former participants now leading the teen training camp. It wasn't always smooth sailing...there were false starts in 05 with Sherco's enduro bikes, the closing of the Scorpa factory in 07 shortly after becoming the importers, there were sporting challenges, and the Global Financial Crisis which caused them to consider just winding up the business altogether. Brad is so humble and was keen to make sure he reflected on all the others that helped him along the way. Now that he has left his involvement with RYP, Brad continues to give back with his work on the board of the AMA. Even if Brad efforts were US focused, the sport of trials globally is better for his efforts by showing us what is possible. I hope you enjoy par 2 of this chat with Brad Baumert. Here we go with my full review of the 2020 Sherco 300 SEF Factory. It's certainly one of my all time favorite 4 stroke enduro bikes. It's got the best fork valving of any of the bikes I've ridden in the last year. In the video I will point out several things I really love about the bike and some things that they really need to improve upon.Hopefully this will be helpful to many of you out there. Well here we are! Episode 50...feels like a bit of a milestone, and as such we've lined up a milestone guest for you. To be honest, I wasn't sure when I started this podcast where it would go, but it very proud of getting to 50 and all the great conversations we've had with members of our sport. Thank you to all our past, present and future guests but most of all thank you to our listeners. You emails and messages with suggestions and general support have been very much appreciated...so thank you to you as well. This week we are speaking with Albert Cabestany. How is this for a resume: 306 TrialGP events, 84 podiums including one on his final TrialGP event, 9 wins 127 Indoor Trials, 90 podiums, 18 wins, 1 championship Twice TrialE Champion 27 times on the Spanish TdN team across outdoor and indoor Further, Alberts name should be familiar to anyone who has owned a Sherco in the last decade, with his name etched onto the factory edition trials bikes up until 2018. Despite his success over his 23 year career, the thing that struck me was how much re remains a student of the sport and very process driven rather than rely on natural talent. Albert reflects on the fun and enjoyment of being a trials rider over 23 years but we also get an insight into the top flight competition pressure and variables can turn something that should be fun, like riding a trials bike, can become a chore - living on the edge of offside (it will make more sense when you listen). We talk about his transition to Beta for his final year as a rider in TrialGP staving off a premature retirement from TrialGP. We also get a scoop on Alberts next phase of his career as he leaves the Trial E class as a rider and how he has moved into a team manager capacity at Gas Gas and his observations of KTM taking over the Gas Gas brand. I thoroughly enjoyed this chat with one of the most accomplished riders in our sport and I hope you do to. Links: https://www.gasgas.com/ Feedback: podcast@trials.com.au
First 1.5 hours on the bike. I will have at least 5 more months with the bike so stay tuned, but here are some first notes.Bike feels REALLY Narrow between your legs - like it's not eve there. That is a great feeling. Was wearing my knee braces and still could barely feel the bike. Once I turned the fork compression all the way out, the front forks worked pretty well for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear riding that I was doing today. It didn't defect badly when I was in 1st gear for those few times. Probably a good mix for a go fast bike. Took 3 clicks of compression out the the slow speed comp on the rear. This seemed to give the bike a more planted feeling for the choppy rocks and braking bumps I was encountering. The motor is very snappy and "racy". Feels might more high strung like the YZ250FX did. Has decent torque down low. Didn't stall the bike on technical climbs, but I was REALLY careful with my clutch work since it doesn't seem like it's got the grunt of the Sherco 300 SEF. Makes the front end feel pretty light and playful. More playful feel than the Sherco, although if I'm going to spend a full day in the slow stuff, give me the Sherco.Loves to corner and carve around berms. Gave me confidence in my front end.Didn't feel the issue on the 5 speedFuel tank too smallSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/dirtbikechannel)
I don’t want to own a good dirt bike… I want a freaking GREAT DIRT BIKE!These days Every major manufacturer (and even some of the really small ones) makes a good dirt bike. Some of them only make MX bikes, and while I don’t ride MX, I think it’s safe to say that 3 out of the 4 Japanese brands make fantastic MX bikes. As we move more into the “off road” or enduro bikes, there are even more choices since there are more of us riding these bikes. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM, Husvquarna, Sherco, Beta, GasGas, TM designs….. all these brands make GOOD enduro bikes. They all do. But who makes a GREAT bike? And who gets to decide makes differentiate a good bike from a great bike? Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/dirtbikechannel)
Karl Davis Jr is one of the top 3 riders in the USA, and has represented his country at the TdN. That is normally an impressive feat it's actually not the most interesting part of this chat. As you will hear, Karl has spent the last few years pre covid dressing up as Marvel superheros and riding bikes as his job when he was touring with the Marvel Universe Live. He also tells us about how he managed to resume trials riding while on tour and how he is taking his ambassadorial role in the sport seriously. We also hear about that 1 point difference to Alexander Niederer in the 2019 NATC championship the decided 2nd & 3rd position. We get to hear about Karl's nomadic life and how he weaves trials around the USA into his current travels including training clinics on an as needed basis. Karl also has recently switched to Vertigo after a long stint with Ryan Young Products as a Scorpa and previously a Sherco rider so we get to chatting about that as well. I hope you enjoy this chat with Karl Davis Jr. Links: https://vertigomotorsusa.com/ Feedback: podcast@trials.com.au
Here are some of my thoughts after riding the bike for 10 hours. This is NOT my full review. Needs improvement - Air filter is hard to get in there - could easily be installed wrong and suck dirt oil filler is right under the hot exhaust - hard to do without burning battery is down below airbox. Good luck jumping this bike if needed Have to remove skid plate to change oil, since oil plug are on the bottom The bike makes me sore??? Super easy to bend radiators Rear brake sticks too far out Didn’t love stock pegs The grips are too hard. Cut them off after the first ride. Good - Skid plate bolts to frame front and rear Forks are great Motor not too snappy but great for single track. Spark arrested in factory model Radiator fan on factory model Turns really quick Feels really light Noticed- Fork height Starts better when you give throttle Clutch pull heavier Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/dirtbikechannel)
I have met a good handful of people in my lifetime. There are many that stick out as a majority of the guests I had on the show do. This guest however is different, and I am excited to share his story with you! Josh Knight is the kind of guy that if you needed a shirt, he would take the one off of his back and give it to you. He is that genuine kind and humble individual we all need in our lives. From a humble happy life, Josh shares his passion for the sport and opens a new door to the podcast. Josh is not one to brag about his success but he has achieved multiple wins in multiple races. He loves this sport! He has participated and qualified to race what is known as the Olympics of Enduro called Internation Six Days Enduro. With the team USA Josh has brought home 3 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal. That is a great accomplishment for USA! Finding riders like Josh is always exciting. At young ages, these guys have so much experience and knowledge, which they can share and coach others to be successful. Josh is of course no exception and I am excited to share this episode with you. Enjoy!
The motorsports industry is a great place to grow and learn. Success comes easy to some because they are in the right place at the right time or they were raised racing and got sponsorships at a young age. For the other 98% people in the industry, they have to figure it out on their own which can take years! Rich Larsen fell into that 98% but has risen and is now in the lower percent class of riders! In this episode Rich explains that even though we are not raised in the industry with parents that race, you can still find success and sponsorships plus there is lots of room for growth! Follow Rich as he continues to chase his dreams and helps others along the way! https://www.instagram.com/richlarsen511/ https://www.facebook.com/rich.larsen.370

In this bite-sized Burrito episode we managed to find the owner and creator of Wildwood, Steve Braszell, sitting back after the 2019 event and had a very quick chat. Our aim for this episode was to shed a little light on what it actually takes to run a Hard Enduro Event and how the event began.Next trip to Melbourne we will be sitting down with him and diving deeper into his past, but for now enjoy.
In this episode the Burrito crew head down to Melbourne to witness Australia's premier hard enduro event, Wildwood Rock Extreme. As first timers to the event, the crew do their best to describe the course. When that failed, Anthony Solar and Sam Preece take over and give the crew a detailed look into the course from a professional's view. With interviews from competitors, organisers and spectators, this episode is designed to help those who have never been or seen the event. Part 2 will bring all the excitement and atmosphere from Sunday's main event and prolouge.
