The strikes are over and Ali and Gus are here to share their thoughts on Season 2 of THE WHEEL OF TIME on Amazon Prime. This week, Season 2 Episode 8 - "What Was Meant to Be"!ERRATA: Rand does not rescue Egwene in THE GREAT HUNT. Nynaeve, Elayne and Min do.~~~As the episodes of THE WHEEL OF TIME show release, Ali and Gus will be bringing their experience in the entertainment industry to the table to do an analysis of the adaptational choices made in the process of bringing THE WHEEL OF TIME from the page to the screen. These episodes are broken into three categories:1) "I am a show-only fan" - folks who have never picked up a WHEEL OF TIME book can listen to the first (and longest) part of our episodes, where we analyze the adaptation insofar as it covers what it has already covered in the books.2) "I am a Wheel Takes listener" - folks who are current with our book discussion episodes can continue into our second section, where we discuss the long-term logic behind (and ramifications of) choices made by the adaptation as far as Ali has read.3) "I'm fully spoiled" - folks who have finished THE WHEEL OF TIME can stick around for thoughts from Gus (and Bree) on the choices made by the adaptation from a fully spoiled perspective. We do not recommend skipping sections wholesale, as each builds on what comes before it.~~~Show material covered in this episode: S2E08 - "What Was Meant to Be"CHECK YOUR PODCAST PLAYER'S CHAPTERS FOR INFORMATION ON WHEN EACH SECTION STARTS - THE BELOW TIMESTAMPS DO NOT ACCOUNT FOR ADVERTISEMENTS, WHICH VARY IN LENGTH BY REGIONPart 1 of our discussion does NOT spoil any distinct show mysteries but discusses elements from the books without spoiling them.Part 2 begins at 4:58:56 and contains SPOILERS through the PROLOGUE of THE GATHERING STORMThere is no Part 3 for this episode (it will be recorded separately uploaded in the future)~~~Check out our TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, and TIKTOKCheck out our Patreon at patreon.com/wheeltakesEmail us at wheeltakespodcast@gmail.comUS-friendly MERCHANDISE: https://www.zazzle.com/store/wheeltakesmerch/productsEurope-friendly MERCHANDISE: https://wheel-takes-merch.myspreadshop.co.uk/allSend us a card!Wheel Takes PodcastP.O. This week Today FM brought you a rare insight into the minds of young people involved in ram raids, and smash and grabs. In a documentary released yesterday, Wilhelmina Shrimpton spoke to a 13 and 15 year old who explained why they did what they did. The kids were contrite and apologetic to the owners of the stores they attacked But there's mixed opinions about how best to deal with these young offenders Today we'll hear from youth lawyer Harvena Cherrington, who wants some empathy shown to these young people, but also Dairy and Business owners chair Sunny Kaushal, who's not so keen on that approach. Police continue to take a softly-softly approach to the protest at Parliament. The lawn in front of the Beehive is covered in tents, straw, mud, leaking Portaloos, and rubbish bags. The surrounding streets are full of cars, campervans and trucks, which are blocking businesses and Victoria University. Police Commissioner Andrew Coster told Mike Hosking police won't be imposing a state of emergency, which could force tow truck companies to help, like in Canada. “What we've seen overseas is that escalation adds to anger and resentment but doesn't necessarily close out the underlying problems.” LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Good things come to those who wait. And those waiting for the real Sheffield United to reemerge after the shutdown of football have finally been rewarded. Chris Wilder's men are back - and back with a bang in the superb victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Joining Liam Hoden to discuss the last week or so in Blades history is The Star's long-serving United writer James Shield plus football editor Chris Holt - although wifi is not Chris' friend at the minute. They discuss the beginning of the revival against Arsenal, Wilder going soft in the build-up to the Spurs game and the big individual performances at the Lane on Thursday. And there is talk about Prince Abdullah's final purchase of the remaining pieces of the club, bringing to an end the wrangling over the ownership of the Blades. And the rumour mill begins to grind into gear. Website The Star Subscribe to the website, starting at just £1 for the first three months CLICK HERE Twitter @TheStarBlades Facebook TheStarSUFC
