"I think from an investor perspective, the biggest misconception would be to buy into a high score and think the company is truly sustainable because the reality with ESG is the data is self-reported. The data often is limited in terms of the range of disclosures. It's very selective. It's very manipulative because large companies with big CSR or sustainability departments, Can often manage the narrative around ESG better than smaller companies. There are a lot of geographic biases: developing countries tend to get poorer ratings and are usually penalized with a corruption or transparency type discount." - Ravi Chidambaram   Fresh out of the studio, Ravi Chidambaram, CEO and founder of RIMM, joined us in a conversation to discuss ESG and climate adaptation investing across Asia Pacific. Ravi explained the current paradigms in the ESG space and dived deep into different topics such as climate change, water scarcity and carbon credits and where technology is leading. Among the topics discussed were: What social and emotional learning is The implicit and explicit process of learning social and emotional skills How children can learn empathy Her book for teachers: SEL from the Start From listening to respectful communication to respecting others' perspectives Where social emotional learning fits in the regular school curriculum What service learning is and examples of it in practice Three possible categories of service learning solutions: Educate others, change a policy or take direct action. The relationship between service learning and project-based learning How Sara Rimm-Kaufman and her colleagues (including Tracy Harkins and Eileen Merritt) developed Connect Science, a scheme that uses the service learning approach to combine social emotional learning and academic content Applying service learning in different curriculum subject areas The notion of “fidelity of implementation” in education research (and an “intent to treat” analysis) The theme that characterises her research interests: the centrality of social emotional learning (e.g. for racial equity) and the widespread practices in school that have never been studied but would benefit from research into their effectiveness or lack of effectiveness The source of her research interests Her early research on primates and working with Professor Jerry Kagan to subsequently working in schools with children in first grade. Ratkaiseeko ehdokasasettelu kuntavaalit? Erityisesti naisehdokkaiden asettuminen perussuomalaisten listoille on hänen mukaansa merkittävää. Miksi kokoomuksen kannatus on kasvussa ja vihreiden laskussa? Miksi perussuomalaiset on tuplaamassa kannatuksensa Helsingissä? Miksi keskustan kannatus laahaa? Salolaisen mielestä kuntapolitiikka on aliarvostettu politiikan alue. Salolainen kertoo. Tärkeää vaaleissa on, mistä puhutaan. Mitkä ovat tärkeimmät teemat, joista pitäisi puhua? As the blueberry industry can attest, health research has been vital to the growth of the global blueberry market. While we've touched on blueberry health research in past episodes, it's time to do a deep dive to better understand the current and potential health research that has been so critical to increased demand for blueberries.. Host Kasey Cronquist, USHBC and NABC president, is joined by Eric Rimm, Sc.D., professor of epidemiology and nutrition, director of the program in cardiovascular epidemiology at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Rimm also sits on the USHBC Health Research Committee science advisory board.  “This study would not have been possible, not just for the packets, but this was actually funded by the USHBC.” - Eric Rimm, Sc.D. “Blueberries can actually be there for swapping something out of breakfast, it can be a side for a lunch or a dinner, and it could be a replacement for dessert. Where you still get all of the satisfaction of (taking) out something, but you still get to put blueberries in.” - Eric Rimm, Sc.D.  Topics covered include:  Results and methods of the latest clinical trial with blueberries. Difficulties of a large-scale study. The concept of healthy swaps. The difference between “fad” diets and the research USHBC funds.  The next frontier for blueberry health research.  Crop Report - October 21, 2020  The Blueberry Crop Report is an update on crop conditions and markets throughout North America. In this episode, you'll hear from Andres Armstrong in Chile, Luis Vegas in Peru, and Jose Luis Bustamante in Mexico. This was recorded October 2020.
