World-Building Through Visuals: A look at the band's cinematic approach, from rmusic videos to curated Pinterest mood boards for future releases. Left-Handed Synergy: A fun look at the "similar genes" and creative connection Meredith and Jon share as two left-handed musicians. Send us a textIn this episode of the Healing the City podcast, Pastor Mark and Pastor Eric sit down to talk about what it actually means to belong. They explore how the Village understands membership, not as signing a line or joining a club, but as stepping into responsibility, stability, and shared life. Drawing from the Village's neo-monastic approach, they reflect on how true belonging always demands something of us: showing up, carrying one another's burdens, and submitting ourselves to a larger story. This isn't about chasing ideal community; it's about committing to walk with real people, in all their beauty and brokenness, and letting that shape us into something stronger and more whole.Support the show"Healing the City" is a profound and dynamic weekly podcast that dives into the complexities of creating healthier communities. What does it take to transform a gateway station into a place where people pause in their head-down commute to connect and reflect? Riccardo Cosentino and returning co-host Corail Bourrelier Fabiani are joined by Jonathan Ring, the Development Director for London-based developer Sellar. They explore the public art programme at Paddington Square—one of the city's most ambitious and complex redevelopment projects.Jonathan shares how the programme evolved from the early planning conditions to the final installation. His experience highlights the balance inherent in major projects, where diverse stakeholder voices, strict timelines, and logistical constraints pile on the pressure and teamwork is non-negotiable.Public art may be a smaller portion of the overall budget, but its impact on the public experience is profound. This episode offers an inside look at the creative and collaborative processes behind curating art in a heavily trafficked urban space. It is a conversation about leadership, legacy, and how the spaces we build shape how people feel.Key TakeawaysPublic art may be a smaller line item, but its emotional and social impact is immense. The earlier you integrate public art into a project's design and planning, the smoother the process will be.Stakeholder management is about more than communication; it calls for timing, trust, and making space for diverse opinions.Delivering complex urban infrastructure requires balancing fixed timelines with creative possibilities.Strong, long-term relationships with designers and collaborators make it easier to solve challenges together.Rotating public art programs create ongoing opportunities for re-engagement and placemaking.Quote: “We're really trying to create a place people want to dwell in because it's got very interesting areas around it. And the public art really formed a major part of that, creating a place where people dwell in. What's great is now seeing in the summer, and I bet today, people will be sitting out in the square enjoying the public realm, seeing the art and enjoying it.” - Jonathan RingThe conversation doesn't stop here—connect and converse with our community via LinkedIn:Follow Navigating Major Programmes: https://www.linkedin.com/company/navigating-major-programmes/Follow Riccardo Cosentino: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cosentinoriccardo/Read Riccardo's latest at https://riccardocosentino.com/ Listen to Riccardo and Corail's public art conversation: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/public-art-installation-as-an-intrinsic-part/id1683413407Follow Jonathan Ring: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathan-ring-4284398b/Follow Corail Bourrelier Fabiani: https://www.linkedin.com/in/corail/ Music: "A New Tomorrow" by Chordial Music. The discussion then shifts to the cult classic 'Hard Ticket to Hawaii,' exploring its campy charm and the appeal of so-bad-it's-good cinema. The hosts reflect on the enjoyment derived from these films, despite their flaws, and conclude with a review of 'F1: The Movie,' highlighting its mediocrity and entertainment value.

Send us a textIt took too long to do a Jeffery Combs MonthToday were talking about:This week we descend into Cellar Dweller (1988) — the horror movie where drawing monsters brings them to life, basements are portals to hell, and every character has the survival instincts of a confused goldfish. There's a demon, an art school, a cursed comic strip, and one extremely haunted storage room full of bad decisions. Think: Goosebumps if it was rated R and had a fog machine on overtime. We talk monsters, mullets, and why you should never sketch by candlelight in a horror movie.

The discussion examines why having "a million monsters" often creates noise rather than signal, and explores how constraint and focus can lead to more impactful creative projects. The episode draws from the tension between Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Marvel Comics history to illustrate the difference between creative execution and editorial vision. It explores how the elevator pitch mentality from Hollywood applies to personal artistic projects, using Star Wars as an example of how one clear core idea can anchor an entire universe. The argument centers on the principle that artistic projects need a single, easily communicable hook that people can understand and share, rather than an overwhelming collection of interesting elements.—Chapters00:00 Intro01:06 Welcome02:23 The Million Monster Problem06:11 Why Clear Signal Beats Creative Chaos16:29 The Stan Lee vs Jack Kirby Lesson28:52 Pick One Idea and Go Deeper35:40 The Analytical Takeaway37:41 The Simple Takeaway37:48 The Practical Takeaway40:39 The Philosophical Takeaway44:11 Outro—The Visual Scholar Podcast is designed to help you demystify the world of Art, Productivity, and Creativity. What does it take to stick with one creative project for more than a decade—and still feel inspired by it? Michelle Fung has been immersed in The World of 2084 since 2015. What began as a vivid dream in a coffee shop became a sprawling, interdisciplinary art project imagining five futuristic nations and their cultural, ecological, and political identities. In this conversation with host Alyson Stanfield, Michelle shares how she builds these imagined worlds through woodcut painting, animation, books, and research—and how her commitment hasn't wavered in 10 years. She talks openly about the tension between conceptual satisfaction and selling work, and how she uses long-term planning to stay focused. You'll also hear how she transitioned from printmaking to a unique “woodcut painting” process that honors her love of carving and visual storytelling—and how she separates money-making projects from money-burning ones without losing joy.
