The score intricately weaves driving rhythms and powerful motifs that resonate with the essence of the sci-fi narrative. From thrilling action sequences to poignant character moments, the score serves as a vital storyteller, enhancing every scene.. Jim Piddock is an actor, writer, and producer, who began his career on the stage in England, before emigrating to the U.S. in his early twenties. He made his theatrical debut in the U.S. in “The Boy's Own Story”, a one-man show about a soccer goalkeeper, at the Julian Theatre in San Francisco. The show was an instant success with critics and audiences, winning Jim the Bay Area Critics' Best Actor Award. The show was then produced Off-Broadway and he quickly gained the attention of the New York theatre scene. That same year (1982), he was cast in Noel Coward's “Present Laughter” by George C. Scott, who directed/starred in the revival, which also featured Nathan Lane, Christine Lahti, Dana Ivey, and Kate Burton. The show was a big hit on Broadway and Piddock soon found himself appearing in a string of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including the original US production of “Noises Off”, “The Knack” at the Roundabout Theatre, and “Make and Break” with Peter Falk at the Kennedy Center. After replacing Frank Langella in “Design For Living” at the Circle-In-The-Square theatre, he moved to Los Angeles and has since appeared in a long succession of tv shows, such as “The Tracey Ullman Show”, “Coach”, “Max Headroom”, “The Twilight Zone”, “Murder She Wrote”, “Mad About You”, “Angel”, “ER”, “Friends”, “Crossing Jordan”, “The Drew Carey Show”, “Lost”, “Monk”, “Without A Trace”, “Dollhouse”, “Party Down”, “Law And Order: LA”, “Castle”, “Two And A Half Men”, “Children's Hospital”, “Mom”, “The Royals”, and “The Grinder”. He has also starred in several notable tv movies and mini-series, like “From The Earth To The Moon”, “A Mom For Christmas”, “She Creature” on HBO, and “The Women Of Windsor”. He appeared in his first movie in the top-grossing film of 1989, “Lethal Weapon 2”, in which one of his lines, “But…you're black” in answer to Danny Glover's request to emigrate to South Africa, became a catchphrase for the film. Other feature film roles soon followed, including notable appearances in “Independence Day”, “Traces Of Red”, “Multiplicity”, “Burn Hollywood Burn”, “Austin Powers 3”, “A Different Loyalty”, “Love For Rent”, “See This Movie”, “Love For Rent”, “The Prestige”, “Epic Movie”, “Who's Your Caddy?”, “The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising”, “Meet The Spartans”, Woody Allen's “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger”, “Get Him To The Greek”, “The Cold Light Of Day”, “The Five Year Engagement”, “1915”, “Think Like A Man Too”, and “Kill Your Friends”. But it is probably his diverse performances in the improvised Christopher Guest comedies “Best In Show” (as the Dog Show commentator with Fred Willard), “A Mighty Wind”, and “For Your Consideration” that he has gained the most attention as a chameleon-like character actor, barely recognizable from role to role. As a voice actor, he is most notable for providing the voice of Major Zero in the English version of the massively popular video game “Metal Gear Solid 3”, Bolero the Bull in the movie “Garfield 2”, and the fictional artistic director of Forever Young Films, Kenneth Loring, doing a hilarious commentary in the directors' cut of the Coen Brothers' “Blood Simple”. His voice work in animated tv series and in video games is extensive and includes “The Lion King”, “Extreme Ghostbusters”, “The New Batman Adventures”, “C-12: Final Resistance”, “Return To Castle Wolfenstein”, “The Lord Of The Rings”, “101 Dalmatians 2”, “The Bard's Tale”, “Dead Space: Downfall”, “Ben 10: Ultimate Alien”, Alfred in “Batman: Under The Red Hood”, “Batman: The Brave And The Bold”, “Skylanders: SWAP Force”, “Turbo FAST”, and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. He currently released his best-selling book, “Caught With My Pants Down and Other Tales From A Life in Hollywood.” We are so grateful to have him as a guest on, “Black Canvas.”

Please turn off your cellphones and join Doom & Fitz as they load up and head to Gotham...in the Mystery Machine! For our 12th commentary, we head back to 1 month ago in 2018 for Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave And The Bold starring Frank Welker, Grey Griffin, Deidrich Bader, and Tara Strong. They gush about how great this movie and both franchises are, debt callers for people that changed their numbers long ago, miscolored dog members, talking chimps, and backyard BBQs. Sit back and enjoy the lovefest, gang, this is a good one.

Elliot and John watch "Journey to the Center of the Bat!" from BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. When the Dark Knight catches a nasty cold, it's up to Aquaman and the Atom to leap into his body and battle microbiological organisms! Does Batman work better when he's paired with everyone in the DC Universe, or should he stay a lone wolf (who is also a member of the Justice League)? Listen to find out!
This week, Michael is deported to the Emerald Isle, while Sean returns from Disney World with stories to tell. Ira rescinds his initial thoughts on Batman: The Brave And The Bold, and we dissect a delightfully decadent ditty by the Dirty Birds of Prey. Bob Marley’s biggest fan is 2 years old. The Swedes do sex-ed right. Do the French...
Welcome to Episode #23 of "TALES OF THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA", which sadly sees the closing of the first era of this podcast as we cover the last two JSA stories from ADVENTURE COMICS. At least 27 minutes of audio had to be cut because Michael couldn't stop crying like a big baby. Before that happened, though, Scott and Mike read some more of YOUR e-mails and the usual subjects of the JSA appearance on SMALLVILLE and BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD came up in addition to other musings from the BEST PODCAST-LISTENING AUDIENCE IN THE KNOWN MULTI-VERSE!! Then, the guys get right into ADVENTURE COMICS #s 465 and 466! In #465, Mike and Scott scratch their heads a lot at the general goofy nature of the story and ask seemingly unimportant questions like -- WHY IN THE HELL IS A HOSPITAL DEVELOPING A POISON PILL THAT'LL DISSOLVE IN FIVE HOURS AN KILL THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE?!! In issue #466, they discuss the REAL reason the JSA disbanded in 1953! The guys love this story despite a few nit-picks (but what else is new, right?). Also in this episode -- THE ADS RETURN! Whoo-hoo!! THERE'S EVEN A HOSTESS AD -- THAT DOESN"T INVOLVE BASEBALL! Plus, Mike and Scot catch up on the "Elsewhere in the DC Universe" segment (including some issues they missed last month, the fools!). So, :sniff, sob: The JSA's ongoing adventures may be over (for now), but there is still A LOT of awesome to come!! "Required Reading" for next week -- JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (Vol. 1) #s 135-137, 147 & 148, and 159 & 160. That's right, folks! You asked for it and they're bringing it! Scott and Mike WILL be tackling the JLA/JSA crossovers that took place AFTER the release of ALL-STAR COMICS #58. NOTE -- The Two True Freaks! now have a phone line where you can call and leave a completely inappropriate message - We just might use it on the show! It's 585-COP-LURE!! Scott and Mike are back once again to discuss the greatest super-hero team to ever grace the printed page, The JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA! This week we have another episode jam-packed with comic book-y goodness! First off, the e-mails from the most amazing and AWESOME listening audience in this or any other universe! The talk is fast and furious and includes more discussion on such varied topics as BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD, what sort of metal music Hawkman would listen to (Scott thinks Carter would be a Winger fan), how a meeting of the JSA might go if the Flash got called out for his... er, self-indulgences... and much, much more!! Then it's on to Adventure Comics #463 and 464 (which feels a lot like the ALL-STAR COMICS #76 it was probably intended to be). In 463, the JSA seek vengeance for the Death of Batman, but man is this a wonky story!! It feels like there must've been some scenes cut out of it, so hopefully there'll be a special edition DVD at some point. Oh well, at least we get an explanation as to how Dick and Helena get their secret identities back. After that, in 464, Wildcat goes out for a night on the town with a teenage boy.... uh, waitaminute... that sounds bad. All right, let's try that again. Wildcat declines an invitation to hang out with Robin, Power Girl and Huntress and ends up meeting a teenage boy on the street. Ummmm... That's not much better. Okay, here it is... Wildcat goes out to clear his head and ends up having a conversation with a teenage boy that is totally on the up and up and NOTHING INAPPROPRIATE HAPPENS! WE PROMISE! The fact that Wildcat quits the Society after this is a TOTAL COINCIDENCE! Yeah, that works... No ads again this week, dammit, but they will return next week as does the Hostess ad! Whoo-hoo! And, as always, Mike and Scott take a stroll through the other books that came out from DC at the same time. So go on... listen already! Enjoy!! Another Friday, another EXCITING and UTTERLY AWESOME Episode of TALES OF THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA! We present to you a more normal-sized episode this time out, but that doesn't mean that it isn't THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO THE INTERNET... well, until next week's episode anyway! Scott and Mike lead things off with more of the fantastic e-mails that just keeping pouring in, which drives their unpaid intern to distraction but makes the guys happy as pigs in slop. EPIC discussion topics generated by your feedback include: non-sports trading cards; whether or not the original Bruce Wayne is corrupt; aging on Earth-2; the body odor of Swamp Thing and Solomon Grundy (those guys STINK!); the iPad and how may impact the future of the paper comic book; and even some more BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD and SMALLVILLE: ABSOLUTE JUSTICE talk!! Then the fun really ramps up with a look at ALL-STAR COMICS #71. Thrill to how Mike and Scott talk about the many faces of the Huntress! Thrill again to the reasons why the Earth-1 characters don't get called in as back-up! Thrill a third time to why Superman and Wildcat are mean drunks! Finally, the ads come fast and furious and, in addition to hearing about which version of the future Scott wants to live in, there is the Hostess ad!! Surprisingly, this is the most coherent one yet. Hey, Kids!! What time is it? It's "Tales of the Justice Society of America" time, of course!! (kinda like Peanut Butter Jelly Time only longer and less annoying) This is kind of an odd episode, but don't let that scare you because -- Hell, they're ALL odd episodes, right?!! Don't tell me you hadn't noticed. Anyhow, there is a LOT of awesome Justice Society talk to be had this time 'round, beginning with a "thought provoking" discussion about precisely which team Power Girl "plays for" romantically-speaking. Then, the guys dive into the two big JSA TV appearances of late -- the SMALLVILLE "movie", "ABSOLUTE JUSTICE" (which, wonder of wonders, miracles of miracles, Scott actually watched and has some good things to say about!) and "The Golden Age of Justice" episode of BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD (in which Mike and Scott debate the merits of the series as a whole and Scott speaks of his "issues" with the show). The conversations range from talk about Lois Lane (including just how incredibly hot Dana Delany really is) to just what the guys thought of this first live-action interpretation of their beloved JSA. There are also e-mails galore, which the guys love reading on the air so keep 'em coming, and THEN -- The Main Event -- Scott and Mike discuss DC SUPER-STARS #17, featuring the origin of the Huntress! Last but not least -- the feature you just can't get enough of -- The Hostess ads!! Yup, they just continue gettin' weirder as -- (gasp!!) Wonder Woman fights a billboard! Heh, we couldn't make this shit up if we tried NOTE -- The Two True Freaks! now have a phone line where you can call and leave a completely inappropriate message - We just might use it on the show!
