Building on our Real Ghostbusters episode, we decided to not only focus on the sequel to that legendary cartoon, but spotlight three major animated series the helped shaped the 90s! Drew Mollo (from Splash Pages) is back for the second week in a row, as we tackle The Extreme Ghostbusters, Men In Black The Series and Godzilla The Series! Aside from all being continuations of popular sci-fi/action movies, these fantastic shows were all produced by Richard Raynis and Jeff Kline. 8-Bit Alchemy hosts and weighs in as the other three hosts each take one of the shows to present, along with one episode they loved most. A flashback to the "wilderness years" between the end of Extreme Ghostbusters and the "Answer the Call" reboot - 2012 marked the year host of the prolific and informative pop culture podcast "The Chronic Rift" John S. Drew talked to Jay and "Mr. Sci-Fi" Marc Scott Zicree (author of some of the best episodes of The Real Ghostbusters) about the legacy of the franchise and why the animated series was so important to the enduring appeal of the original concept developed by Ivan Reitman, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis. Zicree talks about the process of writing stories for The Real Ghostbusters back in the 1990s as one of the key writers under J. Michael Straczynski while Jay manages to hold back most of his fanboy glee talking about what the series meant to him growing up. Fortunately, no hosts or screenwriters were roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day. Thanks to John Drew for allowing RFG to use this interesting conversation. In this episode of the “Say What Again Billy?” podcast, we're gearing up for the highly anticipated release of “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the fourth installment in the original Ghostbusters franchise. With excitement reaching fever pitch among Ghostbusters fans, the SWAB podcast crew takes a deep dive into the rich history of the Ghostbusters universe. We'll explore Dan Aykroyd's real-life connection to the paranormal, stemming from his family's spiritual background. From there, we'll discuss the profound impact the Ghostbusters have had on those who love the paranormal, including paranormal investigators—a topic we've previously explored in an earlier season . But that's not all. We'll also examine the enduring influence of the Ghostbusters animated series, which spawned multiple successful seasons and a thriving toy franchise. Plus, we'll delve into the spin-off series “Extreme Ghostbusters” and how elements from these shows seem to be making a comeback in the trailers for the new movie. Of course, we'll analyze the trailers for “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and offer our predictions for what's in store. And let's not forget about the 2016 reboot— we'll weigh the pros and cons of that film as well. So if you're a paranormal enthusiast and a Ghostbusters fan, this is the episode you won't want to miss. Join us as we uncover the fascinating history of the Ghostbusters franchise, straight from the members of the SWAB podcast crew. Who ya gonna call?
Based on Ghostbusters by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and its franchise, Extreme Ghostbusters is the animated television series which serves as a sequel to The Real Ghostbusters (1986 - 1991). Luke and Nathan revisit this 40-episode 1997 series which initially aired on the syndicated Bohbot Kids Network's "Extreme Block". Dr. Egon Spengler agrees to help a group of his young students re-form the Ghostbusters under his mentorship.
As an actor I fully appreciate and recognize that I couldn't do what I do without a writer doing what they do. Their words and characters are the basis for any work I've had in theater, television, or film. The writer's strike this past summer highlighted just how important they are, because without them there is no entertainment industry. In part one of my conversation with writer Steve Cuden, we talked about the process of creating the musical Jekyll & Hyde with Frank Wildhorn. For this second part of our discussion, we dive into his work in television, where he's written for shows like The Avengers, Biker Mice From Mars, Extreme Ghostbusters, and Pocket Dragon Adventures. Steve also gives us a crash course on what it takes to craft an engaging story that not only touches an audience but more importantly means something to the writer personally. Listen to StoryBeat with Steve Cuden and find his books here. They discuss the diversity of this cast, our favourite no-homo-but-definitely-homo couple, and create some new crackships along the way. Listen to Jessica become incredibly confused over something that is in no way confusing or badly presented in this show, and hear Natasha gush over this great cast of characters. Will Jessica be swayed by the charms of this major franchise? Or does she not believe there are any ghosts left to bust? You'll have to listen to find out. His family moved to Timmins, Ontario, soon after he was born. LaMarche's childhood was filled with his "own little world of cartoons and sixties television". It was in his second year of high school that he learned of the popularity his talent for mimicry could garner him. This realization came from a coincidental performance in a high school "variety night" when a couple of friends urged him to enter. The act he performed at the variety night was "celebrities as waiters" which he used until the end of his stand-up career. It took a few years after his 1981 move to Los Angeles for LaMarche to establish himself in the American voiceover industry, which he initially pursued as a side endeavor during his full-time standup comedy career. LaMarche began on Inspector Gadget with that show's second season in 1985, and went on to Dennis the Menace, Popeye and Son and The Real Ghostbusters where he played Egon Spengler. After The Real Ghostbusters, LaMarche became a regular mainstay of the voiceover industry, appearing in such shows as Tiny Toon Adventures, GI Joe, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: The Animated Series, Taz-Mania, Where's Waldo, The Little Mermaid, Batman: The Animated Series, and Bonkers before landing perhaps his most recognized role in 1993 as The Brain on Animaniacs and later its spin-off show Pinky and the Brain. Following this, LaMarche worked on The Critic, Freakazoid!, and The Tick before then reprising his role of Egon in Extreme Ghostbusters. The stretch of two years after this saw LaMarche portray characters in such shows as Hey Arnold! as Big Bob Pataki, Queer Duck, and The Chimp Channel. During this time LaMarche would become the voice actor for Mortimer Mouse whom he would voice in the television series Mickey Mouse Works and Disney's House of Mouse. It was at this time, 1999, that LaMarche began work on Futurama, and since Futurama, he has continued to work steadily in television, including guest roles on The Simpsons (where he once again parodied Orson Welles). His most recent regular role came as Hovis the butler on the Nickelodeon series Catscratch. LaMarche was the voice of antagonist Father in Codename: Kids Next Door and was also the voice of Victor in Playhouse Disney's Handy Manny 2007 Halloween episode. LaMarche has done various voice work for many Warner Bros. Animation and DiC Entertainment cartoons. He also delivered the protracted belches for the "Great Wakkorotti" shorts on Animaniacs, in which Wakko Warner performed various pieces of music. In 2011, LaMarche reprised his role as Yosemite Sam in Cartoon Network's new series, The Looney Tunes Show, and its spin-off, New Looney Tunes. Find out more at https://still-toking-with.pinecast.co

On episode 23 of Canon Fodder we bust some ghosts. The Ghostbusters universe is much more expansive than most people probably realize. What started off as a one-off movie that was supposed to feature an SNL-based cast ballooned into a franchise lasting over 35 years, with plenty more to come. We spend most of the episode talking about what's actually in canon, Ghostbusters 1, 2, and Afterlife. Once upon a time, the original animated show, The Real Ghostbusters, could have been considered canon, but not anymore. And that show does NOT age well. We have a blast figuring out where all of the fodder fits in, such as Extreme Ghostbusters, the 2009 video game based on an unproduced Ghosbusters 3 script, and of course the mostly unfunny 2016 Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. Plus, we tie Ghostbusters to the MCU and Caddyshack. Yea, it's a doozy. As always, we have food and drinks on the show related to our universe. This week we drink the I Ain't Afraid of No Bulls, fruited sour, from Bolero Snort and Crystal Head Vodka from Dan Aykroyd himself. There's also some real-deal Stay Puft Marshmallows (WalMart exclusive) which we don't actually eat, but we just had to have them.
Frequently in TV and movies one of the biggest things that can get in the way of a good product becoming a hit isn't its casting, score, story, or direction; but sadly...it's marketing and distribution. Welcome to Season Two Episode 64 of Digital Dissection: A Nerd Podcast! Today, Joe and Mark are joined by radio host and occasional podcast cohost Zack Derby (The Neatcast, Effin' Cultured, and Podcasters Assemble!) to discuss the underrated, misunderstood, and often forgotten animated series Extreme Ghostbusters! This direct follow up to the 80's hit series "The Real Ghostbusters" had excellent modern animation, brilliant voice acting cast, and a slightly darker story that saw one of the original Ghostbusters train a young, new team. Jim Piddock is an actor, writer, and producer, who began his career on the stage in England, before emigrating to the U.S. in his early twenties. He made his theatrical debut in the U.S. in “The Boy's Own Story”, a one-man show about a soccer goalkeeper, at the Julian Theatre in San Francisco. The show was an instant success with critics and audiences, winning Jim the Bay Area Critics' Best Actor Award. The show was then produced Off-Broadway and he quickly gained the attention of the New York theatre scene. That same year (1982), he was cast in Noel Coward's “Present Laughter” by George C. Scott, who directed/starred in the revival, which also featured Nathan Lane, Christine Lahti, Dana Ivey, and Kate Burton. The show was a big hit on Broadway and Piddock soon found himself appearing in a string of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including the original US production of “Noises Off”, “The Knack” at the Roundabout Theatre, and “Make and Break” with Peter Falk at the Kennedy Center. After replacing Frank Langella in “Design For Living” at the Circle-In-The-Square theatre, he moved to Los Angeles and has since appeared in a long succession of tv shows, such as “The Tracey Ullman Show”, “Coach”, “Max Headroom”, “The Twilight Zone”, “Murder She Wrote”, “Mad About You”, “Angel”, “ER”, “Friends”, “Crossing Jordan”, “The Drew Carey Show”, “Lost”, “Monk”, “Without A Trace”, “Dollhouse”, “Party Down”, “Law And Order: LA”, “Castle”, “Two And A Half Men”, “Children's Hospital”, “Mom”, “The Royals”, and “The Grinder”. He has also starred in several notable tv movies and mini-series, like “From The Earth To The Moon”, “A Mom For Christmas”, “She Creature” on HBO, and “The Women Of Windsor”. He appeared in his first movie in the top-grossing film of 1989, “Lethal Weapon 2”, in which one of his lines, “But…you're black” in answer to Danny Glover's request to emigrate to South Africa, became a catchphrase for the film. Other feature film roles soon followed, including notable appearances in “Independence Day”, “Traces Of Red”, “Multiplicity”, “Burn Hollywood Burn”, “Austin Powers 3”, “A Different Loyalty”, “Love For Rent”, “See This Movie”, “Love For Rent”, “The Prestige”, “Epic Movie”, “Who's Your Caddy?”, “The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising”, “Meet The Spartans”, Woody Allen's “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger”, “Get Him To The Greek”, “The Cold Light Of Day”, “The Five Year Engagement”, “1915”, “Think Like A Man Too”, and “Kill Your Friends”. But it is probably his diverse performances in the improvised Christopher Guest comedies “Best In Show” (as the Dog Show commentator with Fred Willard), “A Mighty Wind”, and “For Your Consideration” that he has gained the most attention as a chameleon-like character actor, barely recognizable from role to role. As a voice actor, he is most notable for providing the voice of Major Zero in the English version of the massively popular video game “Metal Gear Solid 3”, Bolero the Bull in the movie “Garfield 2”, and the fictional artistic director of Forever Young Films, Kenneth Loring, doing a hilarious commentary in the directors' cut of the Coen Brothers' “Blood Simple”. His voice work in animated tv series and in video games is extensive and includes “The Lion King”, “Extreme Ghostbusters”, “The New Batman Adventures”, “C-12: Final Resistance”, “Return To Castle Wolfenstein”, “The Lord Of The Rings”, “101 Dalmatians 2”, “The Bard's Tale”, “Dead Space: Downfall”, “Ben 10: Ultimate Alien”, Alfred in “Batman: Under The Red Hood”, “Batman: The Brave And The Bold”, “Skylanders: SWAP Force”, “Turbo FAST”, and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. He currently released his best-selling book, “Caught With My Pants Down and Other Tales From A Life in Hollywood.” We are so grateful to have him as a guest on, “Black Canvas.”

Afterlife Ectro-1 an. /// Ihr seid begeisterte Spectral Radio Hörer/ innen und wollt uns gerne unterstützen und euch exklusive Inhalte sichern? The Spoopy Month Halloween Celebravaganza continues this week with a look at Extreme Ghostbusters and the first season of Danny Phantom. But before before our hosts can bust out the proton packs and Fenton Thermos™, they talk about Baki the Grappler, Saihate no Paladin, and some Ghostbusters comics during the week segment, and then they catch up on The Ghost and Molly McGee and Amphibia.
Who you gonna Cowabunga? It’s another Dic Peeks episode commentary, and this week we’re talking about the creepy Extreme Ghostbusters classic, “Deadliners.” One part Hellraiser, another part Lovecraft, and a dash of Goosebumps and R.L. Stein make this a perfect indication of the type of series Extreme Ghostbusters had the potential to be only a mere handful of episodes in. Cue up the episode on the official Ghostbusters YouTube and join us for a real-time commentary after a quick recap of the week’s news!
The end is nigh, even though you wish the end was nah. Sorry gang, this is our last episode of No April, Only Zuul (aside from our Patreon bonus). What did you think? Was this whole month worth it? Are you overloaded? Are you there, god? It's me Janosz. This episode is a barbarous melee of button mashing mayhem as we talk about literally every Ghostbusters game (that is worth commenting on). We talk Nintendo, Sega, arcade, PC, Amiga, Atari, pinball, mobile games, pachinko, The Real Ghostbusters, Extreme Ghostbusters, and more. I would type it all out, but the metadata really has not helped out downloads, so I won't bore you. Find out your hosts' favorite games, if they hold up, and what they would want in their perfect Ghostbusters game. This episode also features an interview with artist and game designer, Ben Jelter: https://www.benjelter.com/ ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uSm3hIM0-o&t=5s&ab_channel=DanaJennings Check out Ben's fantastic Gameboy game Opossum Country: https://benjelter.itch.io/opossum-country If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. Since we are in our third week of No April, Only Zuul, it’s only fitting that we discuss and dissect all of the animated content that the Ghostbusters Universe has provided us. Adam and Doug go into the magic that is The Real Ghostbusters--the OG animated series--before segueing into Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters and all of the trivia in between. We talk about the other DIC Entertainment properties from Inspector Gadget, Hello Kitty, Sonic, Super Mario, and like 15 others. Oh, and because it is obligatory any time anyone mentions this franchise, we talk about how integral J. Michael Straczynski was to the show. Ade gushes on the awesomeness that is Extreme Ghostbusters. Made by Adelaide Productions, the same studio that brought you Jumanji, Men in Black, and Godzilla. Did you know that there was a bizarre light gun game released for this show on PS1 after the PS2 had been out for four years??? AND SEVEN YEARS AFTER THIS SHOW WAS CANCELED!!! Finally, Jake ends the party with his extensive knowledge on all things comic book related, ranging from Marvel UK, to Now Comics, 88mph, and IDW. He even delves into promotional giveaway comics packed in with British toffee candy things, called Trio. His discussion includes noteworthy creators like Dan Abnet and Andy Lanning, and spans to pretty covers and variations between multiple titles. What issue has a Fantastic Four reference? We talk the art style on every crossover, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, X-Files, and Mars Attacks, and why Dan Schoening's art is second to none! Which crossover does writer, Erik Burnham, want to do next with the comics? Just press play already and find out. It’s been a crazy few weeks, but with Ghostbusters, there really isn’t enough time on this planet to dive into every little thing. This truly has been a fun ride. Let us know your thoughts and don’t forget to head on over to our Redbubble for some sweet merch. This week's "Hidden Track" is Miserable Feeling by Attic Stories. Happy Month of Halloween! Your boys are back from their hiatus, but we're taking a spooky detour before we dive into the next series. We watch episode 3 of Extreme Ghostbusters, The True Face of a Monster. Spoiler, it's racism. We discuss how the monster in this episode is really not doing anything wrong, how Garett is the most extreme, we actually like the episode pretty well, and there's a lot of tangents. http://popculturefailure.podomatic.com popculturefailure@gmail.com Show: @FailedPopCultur Jake: @mdwstlvaffr Sky: @sandwichsurplus
[Digital Gonzo 2013] This week we're back busting ghosts and investigating paranormal disturbances of all kinds. The majority of the show is spent discussing Ghostbusters II, the 1989 sequel that despite studio pressure, editing strife, shifting release dates, unhappy cast and crew, lukewarm reception and relative obscurity still manages to not be a terrible follow-up to one of the greatest comedies of all time. Also up for debate are The Real Ghostbusters, Extreme Ghostbusters, the 2009 video game and the prospects in store for a possible Ghostbusters III. Guests: Neil Taylor of TheKidDogg Matt Ramsey of GamerDork
[Digital Gonzo 2013] Welcome to the movie that started it all… for me anyway. Ghostbusters was the first trip to the cinema for me, aged four. In effect, considering our twelve inch, wooden, push-button telly, it was the first experience that made me understand what a film could be. And what a way to start a lifetime of being besotted with this medium. It has everything a young lad could want; eye-popping effects, hilarious dialogue from a really tight script, mythology and science hinting at a wider world and believable, lovable heroes facing off against a dark god in the center of New York. We clean up the town, taking you guys from creepy Columbia logo through to Slimer's final charge, along the way we talk about balancing comedy with horror, abandoned concepts and casting choices, the secrets of the special effects, the theoretical science of busting ghosts and for one loopy tangent… The Shining. Next week we're talking Ghostbusters II, The Real Ghostbusters, Extreme Ghostbusters, the 2009 Ghostbusters video game and the prospect of Ghostbusters III. This ended up being in the top three most quotable movies reviewed by Gonzo, up there with Aliens and Predator. We came, we saw, we kicked it- Guests: Joshua Garrity of Cane and Rinse Neil Taylor of TheKidDogg Gary Blower of GameBurst Matt Ramsey of GamerDork
