As the sports world tries to figure out how the Nets find themselves down three games to none against the Celtics in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, Doug says there is blame to go around but if you have to pick one person to blame put it on Kyrie Irving. Doug and the crew chat about a number of popular music acts right now. Former NBA player Olden Polynice joins to talk about Kevin Durant, the Nets, and other major headlines in the NBA coming off of the playoff weekend. When we are doing it tough and things seem to be going against us – James tells us to be patient and stand firm in our faith. He understands that when we are suffering we often take it out on those around us. So he warns us against grumbling and blaming others. We need other people when we are experiencing hardship – so it's not wise to push them away. We find our rest in God as we enjoy the people he puts in our life.

If there was one word that could perhaps best describe Blame One it would probably be Versatility. Throughout the years Blame One has donned quite a variety of different hats throughout the span of his extensive and at times rocky music career. As an emcee, graffiti writer and B-boy the North county Hip-Hop artist has more than earned the well deserved status as an elder statesmen and icon in the local San Diego Hip-Hop scene. Over the course of his illustrious 33 year career as an emcee, Blame One has released six solo albums, several EP’s, been part of various groups and collectives and has appeared on a myriad of songs and rare cuts in other artists catalogs. With this tireless and unrelenting work ethic his catalog quite literally speaks for itself, epitomizing the tenants of perseverance and longevity in the rap game. His latest album the The 34th Scroll with producer/emcee Veks is no exception and is the latest entry in this long and illustrious career of crafting thought provoking, well made, timeless Hip-Hop. For this episode of Step Off! Radio we traveled up to all the way up to North County, to the city of Vista, California to meet up with Blame One. Among other things we discussed the origins of the album’s title, his back history and relationship to producer Veks, the significance of the project at this stage in his career, the possibility of a Mystery's Extinction re-union as well as what the immediate future holds for Blame One and his music. We hope you all enjoy our discussion with the one and only Blame One.

BANG! @southernvangard #radio Ep 134! Hey folks, sometimes it can be tough managing the best damn hip-hop podcast on earth alongside super important things like family, jobs and the like. So this week we had to switch it up a little bit by dropping our mix AND the interview session on Thursday! We have a great interview session this week with Boston producer Jon Glass - not to mention good friend of Southern Vangard Radio, J57, hung out with us during the chat. Glass also hit us with THREE exclusives you can find in our Ep134 mix. On top of THAT, we had an exclusive chat during the mix show with the man that brought us the now infamous Cardi B meme a few weeks ago - the one and only DJ Element! BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the Blame One interview session! We take a trip out West this week for a chat with San Diego’s finest. Blame has been putting it down for years as part of the Dirty Science crew alongside Exile, Blu, Aloe Blacc, Fashawn & Johaz, and just released “Bold”, an EP with his new group, Big Block Silvers. This is his first major release since his 2013 LP “Walk In The Sun”, which was a collaboration with Brown Bag All Stars’ MC/producer J57, who happened to come by and hang out during the interview and provide some insight on he and Blame’s friendship. We rap about the challenges of being a family man in the midst of the ever challenging music industry, why his retirement from music didn’t last long and his passion for reading that has led to him penning a memoir. As you might guess, there’s a lot more goodness to be had, so don’t delay - cop Big Block Silver’s new EP NOW, push play on this interview and remember it’s ALWAYS that #smithsonian #grade #twiceaweek // @southernvangard on #itunes #podcast #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud // #hiphop #rap #dj #mix #interview #podcast #ATL #SANDIEGO #WORLDWIDE Recorded live March 19, 2017 @ Dirty Blanket Studios, Marietta, GA southernvangard.com @southernvangard on #itunes #podcast #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud twitter/IG: @jondoeatl @southernvangard @cappuccinomeeks @beatlabusa
