In this episode of Meet the Farmers, host Ben Eagle sits down with Alex and Emily Crawley, co-directors of Grazing Management Limited, to explore the concept of conservation grazing and their journey starting their business. Based in the Forest of Dean, the Crawleys are using native breed cattle, sheep, and goats to deliver environmental benefits on land managed by charities, government agencies, and private owners.Neither Emily nor Alex began their careers in agriculture. Emily comes from a background in the charitable sector (and also as a pilates instructor!), while Alex transitioned from a military and diplomatic career into land management, later earning a Graduate Diploma in Agriculture and becoming a Nuffield Scholar.Together, they've built a contract grazing business that earned them the British Farming Awards' New Entrant accolade within just two years. This conversation dives into three core themes: the power of farming to support environmental goals, the realities of starting a land-based business without owning land, and the bold personal journeys that led them to agriculture.

Jennifer dropped off the face of the Earth--but she's back now (after three months, but who's counting?). She's been touring mansions again--this time in Newport, Rhode Island. She recounts her adventures for us and answers the question: what is it like to spend the night in a big, 150-year-old Victorian gothic mansion ALONE? She also shares with us some tips for decorating our own Gilded Age-inspired ballrooms. There's a jam-packed itinerary for our little junket to Rhode Island, but then we switch gears altogether to spend some time with our old friends, the Crawleys, over at Downton Abbey. Have you seen the latest film? Jennifer has, and she's over the moon about it. And, then, before she says goodnight, Jennifer tells us all about the vintage plastic candlesticks she plans to be buried with. We haven't caught as much as a glimpse of Jennifer since April, so there's a lot of catching up to do! Downton Abbey is back again. Three years after the 2019 movie that extended the popular TV series, the Crawleys are once again dealing with the clash of the old ways and the new ways. This time, the interloper is early Hollywood. While a director, a crew, and a bunch of actors descend upon the estate for filming, the story also travels to the south of France for a story that might reveal secrets from the Dowager Countess' past.
David Wright and Mark Radulich present our Downton Abbey 2019 Movie Review! Downton Abbey is a 2019 historical drama film written by Julian Fellowes, series creator and writer of the television series of the same name, and directed by Michael Engler. The film is produced by Carnival Films and Perfect World Pictures, and it continues the storyline from the series, with much of the original cast returning. The film, set in 1927, depicts a royal visit to the Crawley family's stately home in Yorkshire. As royal staff members descend on Downton, an assassin has also arrived and attempts to kill the monarch. The Crawleys and their servants are pitted against the royal entourage, including the Queen's lady-in-waiting, who has fallen out with the Crawley family, especially the Dowager Countess, over an inheritance issue. Welcome to OTTplay Now You Know, one podcast that keeps you updated on all the trivia, lesser-known facts and even anecdotes of popular films or shows. I'm your host Nikhil, stay with me.The classic series is an in-depth look into the lives of the Crawleys, a British aristocratic family. Downton Abbey's long-running popularity with its loyal fanbase is a testament to the fact that it's the perfect blend of fun and fiction, with a generous dollop of period drama. 1. The cast has often mentioned that the costumes they don during the show are genuine antiques and date back to the 1910s and 1920s. As a result, they're difficult to launder and often have a damp smell. 2. Queen Elizabeth II is an avid follower of the show. So much so that she has identified flaws in some scenes. She once pointed out that a World War I soldier was depicted on the show wearing medals that were actually awarded in World War II. 3. As per The World of Downton Abbey, the 2011 book by Jessica Fellowes, the show cost a whopping average of £1 million per episode to produce.4. Anna Robbins, the costume designer on the show, said that her main source for clothes were from her trips to native Scotland where she'd often go to thrift stores and second-hand outlets for outfits. The jazzier costumes Robbins said she got from Paris. Alright, that's all we got about Downton Abbey. I shall be back again with another podcast about another popular film or show. Until next time it's your host Nikhil outta here. Aaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poocho!
Downton Abbey takes place in the 1910s and 1920s, a time of great societal and cultural changes that had been in the making for decades. This week we are having some real fun and talking about the decline of the British Empire! From the Industrial Revolution, to changes in class structure, to political upheaval such as the Irish Independence movement, and eventually the loss of colonial power during and as a direct effect of the First World War, these were some super cool times for everyone! We look at how the Irish Rebellion directly impacts the story and characters on Downton Abbey, and how the show has a tendency to gloss over economic and class issues that would have had a direct impact on the Crawleys and their servants. It is possibly the most historical we've ever gotten on the podcast. Emily and Joel both went overseas for this episode all about haunted houses. Emily took a trip across the pond to 50 Berkeley Square in London where a nameless horror once prowled a stately townhouse. Whatever evil dwelled in that house brought such terror to those who saw it, they died of fright and the evidence was forever frozen on their lifeless faces. Joel decided to go down under to the Monte Cristo Homestead in Australia. A family that seemed like good Christian folk built its fortune on the developing railroad. The truth of the lives of those who lived on that homestead was far less godly and pure. Terrible suffering occurred on this property, and the stain of it still remains to this day.Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! Timed perfectly to distract the English from their recent struggles with Brexit, "Downton Abbey" may just be the most pleasant cash grab masquerading as fan service we've seen all year. Behold the Crawleys readying themselves for a visit by the King and Queen. Watch as Tom Branson tries to strike a balance between being an Irish republican and living a pretty sweet life as someone who married into English aristocracy. Gasp as Mary wonders whether being rich is all a bit too hard. All this, and more, in this week's episode of Pop Culture Double Date.

Luxurious estates, extravagant costumes –and so much drama for both the Crawleys and their servants! None of it would be as good without the lush musical background composed by John Lunn. He won two Emmys for the TV series and composed the music for Downton Abbey the movie, which is now in theaters An Evangelical in the Trump EraGuest: Richard Mouw, Professor of Faith and Public Life at Fuller Theological Seminary, Author “Restless Faith”White evangelicals were important to President Trump's election in 2016 and will be again in 2020. As a result, we've seen a number of prominent evangelicals publicly distance themselves from the label. They're unhappy that being “evangelical” in America today equates with supporting a politician whose behavior, rhetoric and policies run contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ. But Richard Mouw is sticking with the label “evangelical” –though he clearly wrestles with it in his new book, “Restless Faith.” America Is Failing to Protect All Religions EquallyGuest: Asma Uddin, Religious Liberty Lawyer, Author “When Islam Is Not a Religion”Let's turn now to the experience of being Muslim in America today. The Department of Defense is concerned enough about the potential for this kind of “deepfake” technology to spark violence, influence elections and spread misinformation that it's got a whole deepfake detection research project that includes paying scientists to make the most convincing fakes they can.
Downton Abbey hits the big screen this week as the Crawleys host the none other than King George V himself in a new film edition of the hit television show. Critic Sarah Crompton considers if it’s a success. Comedian Alexei Sayle discusses the return of his Radio 4 comedy series Alexei Sayle’s Imaginary Sandwich Bar, a mixture of stand-up, memoir and philosophy. The 16th Istanbul Biennial, subtitled this year ‘The Seventh Continent’, is about to open its doors to the public. Critic Louisa Buck has been visiting the city and reports on some of the 220 artworks by 56 artists and artist collectives, and the importance of the subtitle – a name given by the scientific community to the massive accumulation of waste floating in our oceans. Jo Lloyd tells Stig Abell about her story, The Invisible, that has reached the National Short Story Award shortlist. It's set in rural Wales in the 18th century where Martha can see a wealthy family living in a mansion nearby. But no one else can. Presenter: Stig Abell Producer: Julian May

Drunkies!!! We're at the end of the fifth season already!! Can you believe it? The Downton Abbey movie comes out in less than a month! We are so excited!! Allison's voice is a little husky but we're back and chatting the SECOND TO LAST episode of Downton! Edith is still debating whether or not to tell Bertie about Marigold, but loses her opportunity when Mary decides everyone needs to be miserable with her. Everyone finds Mrs. Patmore's B&B misfortunes hilarious, so the Crawleys try to give her some positive publicity. Molesley is trying his hand at molding young minds. We're cooking up ideas for interim pods until the movie, send us your suggestions! Tweet at us @ringforteapod!
The Crawleys are off to the races! However, the outing ends in disaster, challenging Mary and Henry’s relationship. An exciting opportunity presents itself to Molesley, while Thomas continues to struggle to find his place at the Abbey. Tom and a new four legged addition to Downton both manage to pad this episode with joy. We only have two more episodes left until the (long) countdown to the movie!
On this week’s episode we talk about our family photo shoot with The Crawleys, spoiler, it was ace. We also talk about our cat bringing mice in and GOT and LOD (if you don’t know what those are can we even be friends?!).
We have reached another Downton Christmas special, which means we needed some extra time to unpack everything that was going on. Prepare yourself for a lot of speculation about the upcoming movie (lots of ghosts are involved)! We're still dealing with the ongoing Mr. Green murder saga, and Moseley is the new detective in town (with sidekick Baxter). The Princess Kuragin is... unpleasant at best, while the Prince cleans up pretty nicely. Branson is saying his goodbyes to Downton, try not to cry about it. Edith is basically letting everyone know that Marigold is her daughter. Both of the Crawley girls get some new love interests while Allison has a Matthew Goode-induced meltdown. Stowell shows no respect for the Crawleys, who suddenly have a motto of "Crawleys Stick Together." Carson and Mrs. Hughes play House Hunters and not only end up with a house, but an engagement! Find us on Twitter @ringforteapod!
It's Downton in London this week! Rose is presented into high society, the Levinsons come to stay, and the Crawleys audition for Ocean's Eleven. Oh yeah, and Edith has a not-so-sneaky plan for the baby she had during the eight-month time jump. Join us as we say an actual final goodbye to Alfred. Rate and subscribe now, and follow us on Twitter @ringforteapod!
Are you a Downton Abbey fan and looking for career advice? This is the episode for you! We take a look at various characters in Downton Abbey and the employee/employer relationship between the servants and The Crawleys. Drop me a line at info@unstoppablecommunications.com
The creator, sole writer and executive producer of the dearly-departed drama series talks about his decades as a character actor (he appeared in a Bond movie), his transition to writing (he won an Oscar at 52 for his first produced screenplay) and the evolution — and potential future — of the Crawleys.
[Season 6, Episode 6] - This week we find the Crawleys in fine comedic form as they wander cluelessly around the Abbey making stuff up about their paintings. Meanwhile, Mrs Hughes is (hopefully) spitting in Carson's food, Mary and Edith prove they'll never fight over the same men, and Julian dazzles us with his tenuous grasp of obstetric knowledge. But with only a few episodes left, we have worries: Will this hospital melodrama finally do Granny in? When will Thomas's story stop being so cringeworthy? Will Molesley get that job at Hogwarts? And the biggest question of all: Who is this Downton Librarian and how can we get their job?! Put on your pajamas, take a tray of sandwiches and coffee up to the bedroom, and enjoy this latest Downton Gabby podcast!

We discuss the costumes worn in the sixth episode of Downton Abbey's final season. Mary wears yet another stunning evening dress while Edith has her beat at daywear, both sisters make serious relationship progress, and we find out that the Crawleys know nothing about their house!
[Downton Gabby Off-Season 9] - It's a super-packed conversation in our last episode of the off-season before the (sob) final season of Downton Abbey begins. We're preparing, reminiscing, and predicting, and one of us might be taking a deeper dive into fandom activities than ever before (send 1920s garb now!). Helping us fill some of the time before the Crawleys and company return is Netflix's Jessica Jones. We dig the themes, the ass-kicking, the piles of well-written women, and the simmering hot Luke Cage-but we do have a few issues, such as whether the 13-episode binge really serves the story, or why Jessica hasn't yet encountered 21st century denim technology. Finally, to close out the year we each count down our five favorite female characters of 2015. Some picks are predictable, some are surprising, and if you can guess which single character shows up on all three lists, you know us better than we know ourselves. Grab a bottle of bottom-shelf whiskey out of your battered PI desk and join us for one more episode of Downton Gabby Off-Season!
[S05E06] - Well, the Crawleys may not care about Edith, but the damsels do! We dig in deep to discuss Edith's escape, as well as Mary's rebellious haircut and the long history between these sisters that hate each other. Other secrets come out downstairs, with Bates's discovery of that cunning device hidden in the cottage, and a confession about London that seems a bit too convenient to be true. Anna may have faith in him, but should the rest of us? Meanwhile, late-in-life romance is still all the rage as we get an accepted proposal (yay!), a private visit to the prince (ooh!), and a real estate deal in the making (uh, okay?!). Grab some ice cream and a glass of champs and be as jolly as you want while listening to the latest Downton Gabby!
Kelly & Tom take on Downton Abbey S4E4 and try not to talk about how things were before the war, with mixed results. They permit Edith’s use of the word “whilst,” wonder where have all the babies gone, puzzle over LG’s sudden emergence as the voice of reason, dispute whether anything should be allowed to be jellied, appreciate how friggin’ racist the Crawleys are, determine which dresses Mr. Lloyd George would have hated, wish Mrs. Hughes was a Dark Jedi, discuss the sexiness of marching band bus makeout sessions, encourage Daisy to return to her farm, and pitch a porn parody of The Perfect Storm. As if that weren’t enough, Kelly wants a secret marriage, Tom steps up his BOOM game, and they both totally called Edna a witch before it was cool! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We rejoin the Crawleys on what should be the happiest day in Edith’s life, but which instead ends in heartbreak, although we’re relieved she doesn’t go all Miss Havisham on us.
