It is a privilege to welcome Branden + James' Branden James and James Clark back and welcome Effie Passero to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.  Branden James began his career singing in residence at New York City's Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He appeared in concert at the Hollywood Bowl, the Lincoln Center, and London's Trafalgar Square and gave personal performances for Pope Benedict XVI and Nelson Mandela's family in South Africa.  He also kicked off games for the Chicago Bulls, Clubs, White Sox, and the Los Angeles Lakers with his cover of “The Star Spangled Banner.”  Branden became a household name in 2013 when he auditioned for America's Got Talent (AGT): Season Eight, where he made it to the Top 12.  His performances received high praise from judges Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum and former judges Howard Stern and Mel B. Post-AGT, Branden became a co-host for the wildly popular AfterBuzz TV, and in 2020, Branden released his memoir, Lyrics of My Life, through Simon and Schuster.  Australian cellist James Clark is an accomplished musician, concert pianist, and arranger. He performed with some of the biggest stars from around the world, including Idina Menzel, Lea Salonga, Van Dyke Parks, and the late Olivia Newton-John. The Adelaide, Australia native holds a master's degree in music performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at the California State University in Long Beach. Before his music performance career, James was tenured as a full time music teacher at Immanuel College. In this Lutheran coeducational high school, he was the Director of Strings from 2007 until the end of 2012.  In 2016, Branden + James released their first single, “You Belong,” and began performing worldwide. In 2020, the duo released their full-length studio album: Chasing Dreams, followed it up with their 2021 holiday album, A Christmas Gift. The duo released their 2023 album, Everything Was Beautiful, which featured their takes on classic songs such as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Roxanne,” and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?”   Throughout the 2020s, frequent collaborator Effie Passero joined them at their live concerts. Effie became a household name when she auditioned for ABC's first season of American Idol. She received three “Yes” from judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and former judge Katy Perry and made it to the Top 24, where she performed a duet with Cam.  Since her time on American Idol, Effie has sung with Postmodern Jukebox.   On October 17, 2024, the trio will make their Carnegie Hall debut at the Weill Recital Hall. Jason Pierce's longstanding coda to his previous band, Spacemen 3, have been ploughing the maximalist space rock field for decades now, and their high point, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, is my second favorite album of all time. After the excellent and very underappreciated, And Nothing Hurt in 2018, Pierce has now opted for a full-on Phil Spector wall of sound assault, touching on most parts of the bands history, to mainly great effect.

Spaceman) plays 16 different instruments on the recording, which was done at 11 different studios (not including his home), and employing 30 different collaborators.  “There was so much information on it that the slightest move would unbalance it," he admits in a press release, "but going around in circles is important to me. Not like you're spiraling out of control but you're going around and around and on each revolution you hold onto the good each time. Sure, you get mistakes as well, but you hold on to some of those too and that's how you kind of... achieve. Spiritualized - "Always Together With You" from the 2022 album Everything Was Beautiful on Fat Possum. If today's Song of the Day sounds a little familiar, you're not just tripping on Spiritualized's otherworldly psych-sound. “Always Together With You” was originally released in demo form in 2014 as “Always Forgetting With You (The Bridge Song)”, but it's since been reworked for the long-running space-rock band's ninth album, Everything Was Beautiful, out February 25th via Fat Possum. The title — along with the title of his 2018 album And Nothing Hurt — completes a beloved quote from Kurt Vonnegut's classic 1969 novel Slaughterhouse Five.  “There was so much information on it that the slightest move would unbalance it, but going around in circles is important to me,” said frontman J Spaceman (real name: Jason Pierce) in a press release about the upcoming release. “Not like you're spiraling out of control but you're going around and around and on each revolution you hold onto the good each time. Sure, you get mistakes as well, but you hold on to some of those too and that's how you kind of… achieve. Well, you get there.” Read the full post on KEXP.org Support the show: https://www.kexp.org/donate See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We love Spiritualized for the space rock project's epic and anthemic sound. The new album “Everything Was Beautiful” is slated for release in early 2022, and sees Jason Pierce (a.k.a. J Spaceman) playing 16 different instruments and employing an additional 30 singers and musicians, which is curious for a man with a fondness for isolation. Let's enjoy the grand sound of “Always Together With You.”

Рецензия и обзор на новый альбом Moby — All Visible Objects. После грустного, но очень трогательного и содержательного альбома маэстро Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt, я ожидал подобного.

After spending the last two years transforming his nightmare visions of our modern age and his internal agonies into razor wire post-punk, Moby is back in the business of electronic pop music. And what has poured out of him on his 15th studio album are equally dark visions rendered with music and performances that feel softer. Like the warm cushion of a goose down pillow as it settles on your face to suffocate you.A review by Robert Ham.Learn more about your ad choices.
