When Martina is not in planning mode, she enjoys Latin dancing, reading books from her nightstand collection, and supporting animal rescues. One of her dreams is to volunteer for wildlife conservation in Africa! She loves to travel and to have quality time surrounded by good food and good company. This weeks guest is Sue Romano. Sue is a Wedding consultant, in hospitality/entertainment industry for 30 years, and making magic at Disney for 25yrs, although they have had two seasons of Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding show she is very modest saying she is only in the background for the Disneyland/Anaheim shows. She may only be in the background but she is very much catalyst for making those Princess wedding dreams come true…I know because I have seen it first hand! And, I’ll explain how later in our episode! But, as you may have figured, her amazing Disney career is not what has her on the show today. Although if I had a second podcast I probably would want to talk all about amazing theme wedding and parties and talk to people like Sue about how to make these elaborate fantasies a reality…but that is another show. Sue’s interest in the paranormal began in childhood after watching a certain movie, she new she had something special. She became interested in the world of the Wicca, magic, rituals, witchcraft and spells. She has dabbled in numerology, Tarot Cards and Karma Cards. Her special gift is Precognition. And, she some paranormal stories of her own to tell! Her daughter also has the same passion and abilities! Could this be genetic? For those whose wedding plans have been postponed or who just need a while to save up for their wedding, this week’s episode is all about projects you can be DIYing while you wait. Event planner and Disney bride Lisa Hatch joins me to discuss what you’re allowed to DIY and where at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings in Walt Disney World. Lisa made or brought almost every element of the floral and decor for her Vintage BoardWalk-themed ceremony at Sea Breeze Point, pre-reception at the Whitehall Room & Patio, and reception at the Grand Floridian’s St. Augustine Ballroom on her own—including a carousel horse, a bicycle and multiple canopies to create seaside “shops”! On today’s episode, we cover which Disney venues allow you to DIY or use outside vendors and what specifically you can make or bring in yourself, including Disney’s guidelines for bringing items for them to set out. Lisa also offers her best DIY advice gleaned from years of professional experience planning events. If you’re looking to save money but aren’t particularly crafty, check out the How to Use Outside Vendors for Your Disney Wedding episode. And if you have to use Disney Floral due to the venues chosen for your event, check out How to Get the Floral and Decor You Want at a Price You Can Afford.
This week, Brian Klose-Koehler shares the story of his wedding ceremony at Paddlefish in Disney Springs and reception at Italy Isola in Epcot. You’ll hear how he and Allen decided to combine a non-Disney ceremony with a Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings reception, what it was like working with two different planners, and their tips for saving money on both events. You’ll also hear advice on having an outdoor reception inside a theme park, how they surprised their guests with a Frozen Ever After ride mix-in, and what happened when their original reception venue became unavailable a month before their big day! It's not déjà vu! Because Disney radically changed the way they price Walt Disney World weddings just days after the release of this year’s “How to Start Planning Your Disney World Wedding ” episode, this week, Disney bride Carissa Redden and I have recorded an all-new episode incorporating the new pricing structure. Whether you’ve been planning your Disney wedding in your head for years or you just discovered that Disney does weddings, today’s show has the steps and tips that will set you on the path to your dream Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding or vow renewal. Today we will help you with the first four crucial steps: Understand how Disney prices weddings now, pick a date, estimate the number of guests, and prepare for your first call to Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings. Click here to see all of Carissa's photos! Yesterday, Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings replaced their Wishes, Escape and Memories collections with a new pricing structure that makes every wedding and vow renewal a completely customizable event, with no guest limits or weekday restrictions. Today, Disney bride Shantel Kinzler joins me to discuss everything you need to know about the new way weddings are planned and priced at Walt Disney World. We cover the new flat Event Minimum Expenditure, including what counts toward it and how it is calculated based on the ceremony venue, day and time you choose. We also talk about changes to dessert parties, how to add cake and Champagne to your ceremony-only event, and what happens if you’ve already signed a contract but want to take advantage of the new pricing. Additionally, this episode covers the planning process from start to finish, including a timeline of the major financial milestones: paying the deposit, paying the minimum expenditure, paying the balance, and settling up after the event. And we answer frequently asked questions about these unprecedented changes to the way Disney does weddings. Click here to see all the photos from Shantel's wedding!
One of the best-kept secrets of Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings is that you may use non-Disney vendors for many aspects of your event. Whether you’re allowed to hire outside vendors depends on your venue and the type of service, but it can be a great way to save money or get more bang for your buck! On today’s show, Disney bride Robin Galry joins me to discuss the types of outside vendors you may hire, where you are allowed to use outside vendors, how much money you can save, and whether Disney charges an outside vendor fee for each type of service. You’ll hear how to save as much as 50% by using outside vendors for chairs, linens, place settings, floral, decor, pipe-and-drape and even a light-up dance floor. We’ll also discuss where you can incorporate DIY projects and dispel the myth that using outside vendors is more complicated than using Disney. Click here to see Robin's photos!
