Genesis 28:10-22Jacob and Esau, twin sons of Isaac, struggled for dominance even from thewomb, but it was Jacob, who by deceptive means, steals the firstborn birthright from Esau, with their mother's help: What a soap opera story(See Genesis 27). Jacob, whose name means “Deceiver or supplanter” is then forced to escape to Haran the birthplace of his grandfather Abraham. It was during this fleeing for sin committed that God manifests His grace via a supernatural dream, in a most unexpected place: a “certain(ordinary desert) place”(28:10). Jacob was not described as seeking God, or praying, lamenting to God, asking for forgiveness, he was just escaping a bad situation he and his mother caused. He was not looking for a calling from God but only to survive Esau's wrath.. Here in a nondescript place, with no religious significance, no sacred altars around (Compare to Isaiah's call while in the temple Isaiah 6:1-13) God encounters Jacob: a Theophany. In fact as stated in Romans 8:28, God worked all that happens for His purposes and the benefit of Jacob. Jacob's unbeknownst to the other characters in this narrative, was chosen by God, not Esau, to be the last patriarch father to the future 12 tribes of Israel(See also Romans 9:13 “Jacob I loved, I chose for aparticular service, Esau I hated = I preferred Jacob) Why? Since his name means “Deceiver, supplanter”, None of our business, Godis sovereign! What can we learn from this story?I) God came in a context of duplicity: no goodness here (See Genesis 27) Toattract God's Involvement. But God in many ways intervenes where He is not called upon because He is Sovereign. Circumstances don't have to be perfect for Him to intervene: (John 3:16; Romans 5:8 etc)II) God came unexpectedly in a very ordinary place: during a rest-stage(28:10-11); “Just a certain place”, but in God's chosen time and manner. There were no altars around or during a prayer meeting etc. And there was nothing that Jacob did to prepare or to earn this revelation.III) God came in a special revelation via the use of dream but not any ordinarydream but a revelatory dream with a message: In 28:12 The text presents what Jacob saw and what the Lord said 28:13-15. A vision for Jacob in his present situation and beyond his time. This was only the beginning of his transformation, finalized by a 2nd theophany in chapter 32, where he wrestles with God and as a result his name waschanged, from Jacob to Israel (he struggled with God and was transformed: but noperfect IV) God came, his transformation process begins 28:16-22God came sovereignly, Jacob was unaware that He was in that place(28:16)A new fear and awe for the Lord verse 17He commits himself with a vow verse 19He prays to return victories to his father's house, after his journey, and hedoes (Chapter 32) But all of the above was not without hardship and wrestling with God.Amen

We all have a story to tell and when we tell it, we can encourage someone else who may need to know and trust God a little bit more. Julie Sunne expected certain things from God and when they didn't happen, she realized she didn't really know this God she was raised to believe in. Married 36 years, a mother of 4, Julie experienced 5 miscarriages and 4 live births in a stretch of 8 years. Their third child and only girl, Rachel, was diagnosed as intellecturally disabled and will need to be cared for her entire life. Rachel, age 26 but developmentally only age 3, continues to teach Julie about trusting and knowing God in his entierty.  Julie's book points our minds and hearts to God and you'll want to get one for yourself and anyone you know who is struggling with hope. She's giving away a copy this week so be sure to comment here or on social media for your name to be entered.  SOMETIMES I FORGET: 60 REMINDERS OF HOPE FOR YOUR HARD DAYS, a concise and helpful devotional to direct our minds and hearts to the nature of God. As Julie says, we don't just wish for something, we hope in God who is immutable and never-changing.  In the pages of this book, you will discover: --more about who God is --how God relates to us as His children --why we can believe God's promises --truths to remember --a simple, yet meaningful way to pray through the valleys Life will throw you curveballs, but in the character of God lies hope. Because of who God is, you can trust Him in your most desperate moments.   Some gems from our conversation: When God didn't answer my prayers, I just felt that his blessings pertained to other people, not me.  I had to learn that my expectations of God were not always his plan for me and thereby, not his best for me as well.  The main cure for "forgetting Who God is" is to read the Word of God which reminds us who we can trust.  We will never completely understand the ways of God so we have to get to a point where we surrender ourselves completely to God. We can't just take one attribute of God without all the rest as one nature, perfect and unchanging, loving and almighty.  My legacy is to trust my hard places to the Lord and surrender my understanding to His.    Follow Julie at juliesunne.com.

In this video, we explore the story of Jephthah from Judges 11 and the powerful lessons we can learn from his commitment and sacrifice for God. Jephthah's vow brought him both pain and discomfort, yet he remained steadfast in his dedication to the Lord. Let's dive into the highlights and glean valuable insights from this biblical narrative. Highlights Commitment Comes with Sacrifice: Jephthah's vow to the Lord led to personal pain and discomfort. True commitment often requires us to give up something precious, whether it's our time, possessions, or comfort. God Requires Our Time: God blesses us with 24 hours a day, 168 hours a week, and asks for a portion of our time in prayer, studying His word, worship, and serving others. How much time are we willing to dedicate to Him? Sharing Our Possessions: Sometimes, commitment means sharing our possessions with others. What do we have that God can use to bless someone else? Are we willing to be generous with what God has entrusted us with? Service as Sacrifice: God expects us to serve others, even if it means sacrificing our time and effort. While God won't physically appear for a meal, He calls us to serve others in His name. Prioritizing God: Matthew 10:37-38 reminds us not to prioritize our loved ones above God. While we should love and care for our family, we must put God first in our lives. God Honors Commitment: When we honor God with our commitment and follow through with it, He will honor us in return. God's blessings often exceed our expectations. The Best Comes from God: Sometimes, we cling to what we think is good, but God always has the best in store for us. Letting go of what we think is best can lead to greater blessings. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gnbc/message

If there really is a thoughtful Creator who designed the world to work a certain way, most of us would want to know what that way is. And some people claim to. They're convinced they've heard from God. They know how God thinks, and what God wants--and not just generally, but from them personally. Some people believe God wanted them to blast someone online, boycott a company, or bomb a building. And other people believe God wanted them to adopt a child, give to charity, or make an apology. All of them did it because *God told them to But did He? Or are some of these people crazy? Does God actually speak to people, and if so, does He sound like Morgan Freeman? Or is "hearing God" a metaphor? And if so, for what? Is it just something people say to give credibility to what they already want to do? How does anyone tell the difference between their wants and God's will? Is it something we can all learn how to do, or just the super spiritual?

And while Blessings are, God power manifest in us at all time'sHow do you position yourself to receive a miracleWe receive a miracle by letting the word of God take root in us. Romans 10 vs 17 (faith cometh by hearing the word of God)Sometimes we can receive miracles through some else's faith, but don't depend on people's faith for miracles. God wants us to be able to conceive a miracle via our faith that is grown via the word of God.◦ We must know that miracles are not an accident or coincidence◦ Ephesians 3 vs 18-20 says God can do exceedingly more than we can think or imagine◦ God works with our will, and he will not violate it; if you don't believe in God, it is rare to experience a miracle on your own faith◦ Our words are involved in our miracles: say the right and have the right confession.◦ Prayers are important, but prayers alone are not enough. Prayer is like nutrients that help nourish our seed of faith in times of crisis.◦ The Kingdom of God works with principles and laws◦ Don't wait for a storm to arise before asking God for miracles◦ If you leave your life from one miracle to the next you will leave your life from crisis to crisis◦ Miracles are mostly needed when we find ourselves in crisis. It is better to work in blessings than to expect a miracle all the time.◦ Matt 17 vs 20-21, Mark 9 vs 30-32◦ Proverbs 23 vs 7 as a man thinks in his heart, so he is◦ Psalm 89 vs 34 says that God will not alter His word.◦ Faith is the key that brings our answers from the spiritual realm into the physical realm◦ If you don't believe it until you see it, your answer will not come from the physical realm. I will always first manifest in the Spiritual realm before it does physically. Remain blessed. Jolly And Margaret Ehiabhi

Dodong Cacanando - Break Through in Life & Business

The Bible tells us that God has a good plan for each of us. If this is true, why is He often slow in fulfilling this in our lives? It took him 25 years to give Abraham a son. It took him 40 years before he called Moses to save the Jews from Egypt. It took him 14 years to make David a king. Why is God sometimes slow in implementing his plan? Have you been asking God to deliver you from your difficult situation? Have you been pleading for a better life than what you have today? Yet, it seems that God has been slow in answering your prayers. This message will show that God is never slow. He allows us to endure trials to prepare us for the blessings he has set aside for us. He knows that if we are not ready, His plans can curse us and not bless us. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dodongcacanando/message

Gospel Reading: Luke 13:10-17 At that time, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years; she was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?" As he said this, all his adversaries were put to shame; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.

Like the church, it is so easy for the individual Christian to lose sight of the Rock of our salvation, and begin to put our hope in other things. We forget the biblical principle of living by faith and not by sight. In this episode, Charles Spurgeon helps to identify some of those things, and redirects us to the Truth that is a strong shelter and great hope for the children of God in this life.

To be loved by God is the greatest blessing anyone could know! To enjoy the privilege of being His child, purchased with the blood of His Son, Jesus, is beyond measure. What type of spiritual needs do you have? Keith talks with Mike about The Mission through First Baptist Church Owasso, which provides services to the needy but more importantly provides spiritual resources to those in a better environment. Most of the time we want to help people based on the few common things, however, your spiritual being is just as important. When is the last time you "fed" your spirit? What does replenishing your spirit look like for you? Is it praying consistently? How about doing something only for the benefit of someone else? Comment below with your favorite way to feed the soul!       Building Relationships with Lost People   What type of relationships are you a part of? Do all of your friends believe in God? Sometimes, especially as we get older, we tend to have a set group of friends and stick with that group. Never expanding, or moving forward. It is a very special thing and should be cherished but Keith talks about how there are some very important reasons to make an extra effort in building relationships with non-believers. Why? Because it builds understanding. It structures new ways to think about things and gives you the opportunity to have a genuine, judgment-free, friendship with someone who may need your help getting on the path to God. Don't take your neighbor for granted. Even if they are opposed to your beliefs, that doesn't mean you can't learn from them and in turn, they learn from you! Do you have any experience with this? Let us know so we can share in our community!     Quote: "The way we share the gospel is not by just opening the doors anymore ... there needs to be a different passion, and I love the fact that we ask people to go on a mission trip at work"       Connect with Keith Keith's LInkedIn First Baptist Church Owasso theMission Ministry Page       Connect With Follower Of One   Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. SCRIPTURE: Luke 24:1-48; Genesis 3:19One of the most common questions surrounding the Easter story is why does Jesus have to die? It can seem unnecessary as a step in his ultimate plan to restore the relationship between God and his people, and even cruel. However, Jesus’s resurrection from the dead offers us the clearest picture in history of a greater miracle: by living and breathing again, Jesus proves that nothing takes us out of the reach of God’s love...and even more, the plan behind God’s love is true wholeness for his people. Jesus’s life is evidence of God’s desire to free us from the bondage of selfishness and sin and restore us to the lives he always intended for us: lives where we are fully known, deeply loved, and wholly equipped to testify to God’s love in the ways we love one another. Easter is the day we celebrate the incredible discovery that God isn’t planning a rescue...he is building a Kingdom, and we are invited to play a part. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:The starting point for a Christian worldview is the belief that the way things are falls short of the way they were meant to be. Is that something you sense and/or believe about the world? Is it something you sense or believe about yourself? In your experience, what gets in the way of things being the way they ought to be? Try to think this through with more than a one-word answer! What do you think Jesus’s resurrection from death proves about him? What does it prove about God?Sometimes, Christians talk about “salvation” as something that only applies to what happens after we die. How does Jesus’s resurrection challenge that idea? What does Jesus’s resurrection imply about what God wants for us? Where are you hoping for wholeness in your life? What might an answered prayer for this look like? Some Christians believe Jesus’s death was a necessary step of surrender before his ultimate victory over death three days later. In your own life, what “victory” are you hoping and praying for? What steps of surrender might God be calling you to on the way to that victory?

For Joshua? Verse 7 & 8 • God appointed leader he was there when they came out of Egypt • He went through the Red Sea • He went to spy the land • He had served Moses and unknown servant • He was a man of God Full of faith • Joshua was to have the same recognition as Moses received from God • Joshua had clear instructions as to what God intended to happen • God chose this time to show to the people that Joshua was Gods mans appointed for this time • We can see why God had said to Joshua be bold and very courageous he needed to be, • God asked him to do things that would take courage For the People - Verse 9 to 13 • Camped by the river in Springtime • The river was now in flood • Not the time to cross • God was about to show himself to be great among the people • They were to listen to the words of the Lord their God – Sometimes we can forget to Listen to our God or chose to ignore him as we think we know better. • This is how you will know that God is among you (Physical Evidence) • Clear instruction and guidance Verse 14 to 17 The people went to cross the Jordan In flood and impossible to cross Miraculous follows obedience Not an insignificant miracle Presence of God necessary for the miraculous Everyone crosses on dry ground Obstacles are Gods opportunities to show us his love and grace and his mighty power to Gods Heart is to do you good to work out in you his work of Love and Grace beyond our human understanding Sometimes he has to take us out to bring us in I mean by that he brings us to places where we have to make a decision to leave behind and to move into a new place god has for us The familiar is always more comfortable, why does it have to change? In order to be free to love God and be ourselves, we have to receive the love of God first. God created us in three parts with an order to all of it: a spirit that must be redeemed; a soul that must be restored; and a body that must be re-purposed. 1 Corinthians 2:14 reminds us if we aren't in the Spirit, we won't be able to understand and our bodies and souls can reject the Word. While we are saved at the point of salvation, we aren't mature Christians. It takes time to learn and grow and we must be nurtured in order to reach maturity. God can do an amazing, immediate transformation like He did with Paul, but it may also come in degrees. The enemy can also move us off the right path by degrees, so we must be watchful. As we grow in our spirit, we become one with God - 1 Corinthians 6:17. Christ will often give us a song of our heart. Do you have one? Do you remember it or have you let it leave your heart? The soul is restored when it comes in line with the Holy Spirit. Our soul is also three parts: our mind (thinking and reasoning); our will (making choices); and our emotions (believing, feeling). For our minds - do we know God or do we know of God? Sometimes we don't recognize miracles for what they are or we take credit for them or treat them as normal, such as finding a job that allows us to provide for our family. The miraculous surrounds us everyday if we will look differently at the world around us. It requires us knowing who is driving our thoughts. The good thing is we can change our destination! The body is the last part and involves works, our flesh and all the things we do in our own power. Have you ever noticed the harder you try to get out of sin in your own power, the tighter its grasp seems to be on you? We must be ourselves, especially around the people closest to us. Otherwise, we can't experience the fullness of Christ. Knowing our identity is key to being in the fullness of Christ. Our identity is not what we do for a living. Do you know your identity? If you don't, ask God to show you through His Word. Ephesians 1:4 tells us that He chose us before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. He did so in love. Let's remember that God does not condemn. Galatians 5:19-23 tells us about the fruits of the flesh and the fruits of the Spirit. This is not to condemn, but to warn us, to help us recognize the dangers and to know the benefit of the Spirit. It is then that living in the tree of Life becomes tangible and exciting!

In your anger do not sin. Huh. We’ve all been angry a time or two, so important to look at God’s Word when we think about this common and powerful passion that often directs our thoughts, tongue, and actions. Today we are talking about where anger comes from, what it produces, and a few biblical ideas to put it away. Store them in the fridge and use as needed! When your veggies are chopped and prepped you're more likely to use them, plus it makes a easy side to any meal: Roasted Veggies Preheat oven to 375 degrees Spread prepared veggies on pan tossed with olive oil, garlic, salt, spices you love Roast for 30-45 minutes The Truth About Anger Anger is not always a sin - Anger is an emotion that tells us where our heart is at. Where does anger come from? Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also - Matthew 6:21  From out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks - Luke 6:45 We must be keenly aware that our heart is not always for God; many times in our anger our heart is in it for ourselves.  Two Questions Why are we angry? and Where is it going? Why are we angry? Righteous Anger: is getting angry when the law of God is violated and God himself is blasphemed Unrighteous Anger: the reasons are endless (I'm not in control, my feelings are hurt, I am offended, I want to be right, I want to be comfortable, etc) Where is unrighteous anger going? Stirs up more anger - Proverbs 15:1 Leads to evil - Psalm 37:8 Does not produce the righteousness of God - James 1:20 An angry and hasty spirit is soon provoked to ill things by afflictions and error and ill opinions that become prevalent through the workings of our own vile and vain affections. - Matthew Henry In our Anger - Do Not Sin In your anger do not sin, do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. Ephesians 4:26 Ephesians 4 and Colossians 3 tells us to put off anger and put on the new self We need to STOP ---> THINK ---> REPENT (turn from our sins and turn to the grace of God) Sometimes anger feels productive and fruitful, but 2 Peter tells us what really makes us fruitful and productive: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins." 2 Peter 1:3-9 Righteous Anger A great example of righteous anger is Paul in Athens in Acts 17. When he saw people worshiping idols he was provoked (angered) and preached the Gospel to help people turn to the living God. "Paul’s love for God and His standards meant he had a corresponding hatred for that which was offensive to the Lord. The idolatry of Athens produced a strong and sharp emotional disturbance within him, one of exasperated indignation." - Greg Bahnsen Four Helpful Ideas to help when we are angry Memorize verses about anger Know God's law and character so we can discern if our anger is righteous Become familiar with passages about God's justice and judgement (and pray for repentance for people) Repent of our sin in anger and be quick to forgive (Ephesians 4:32) Resources How to be Free from Bitterness, and Other Essays on Christian Relationships By Jim Wilson

We struggle with our understanding. We shake our fist at God. Even as we wrestle…we wrestle in God’s embrace…an embrace that will never let go. God’s desire is a blessing for us and peace in dwelling in a relationship together. God give us a fight song to carry us.

A daily devotional through the recorded words Jesus spoke while He walked alongside us. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Thanks for joining me today for "A Little Walk with God." I'm your host Richard Agee. What stories do you tell those you want to win to Christ? Are they believable? Sometimes Jesus' stories weren't very believable. So what should we do? Scripture John 8:49-58 Jesus: I'm not taken by demons. You dishonor Me, but I give all glory and honor to the Father. But I am not pursuing My own fame. There is only One who pursues and renders justice. I tell you the truth, anyone who hears My voice and keeps My word will never experience death. Jews: We are even more confident now that You are demon-possessed. Just go down the list: Abraham died, the prophets all died. Yet You say, “If you keep My word, you will never taste death.” Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died; remember? Prophets—are any of them still alive? No. Who do You think You are? Jesus: If I were trying to make Myself somebody important, it would be a waste of time. That kind of fame is worth nothing. It is the Father who is behind Me, urging Me on, giving Me praise. You say, “He is our God,” but you are not in relationship with Him. I know Him intimately; even if I said anything other than the truth, I would be a liar, like you. I know Him, and I do as He says. Your father Abraham anticipated the time when I would come, and he celebrated My coming. Jews: You aren't even 50 years old, yet You have seen and talked with Abraham? Jesus: I tell you the truth; I AM before Abraham was born. Devotional I grew up in the church. I've heard these scriptures all my life. I believe them. God's spirit touches mine and I know they are true because of it. He has proven Himself to me over and over. But imagine hearing these words coming from Jesus for the first time. These men didn't want to believe Him Uneducated carpenter's son Doesn't follow their rules Disrupts the religious order of the day He's talking about something they cannot comprehend Everyone dies, so His words don't make sense to them Compares Himself with God Sometimes we forget most of the world today has not heard the story Less that 50% of Americans claim any religious affiliation Christianity pushed into the background and even considered hate speech in some circles Stories are still confusing and unbelievable as they were in Jesus' day Miracles Resurrection Never die Why do I mention this? Our mission is to go and make disciples Need to know the mindset of those to whom we speak They will sometimes be unaware of the language you speak They may have no concept of the things you take for granted as a believer They may think your stories about Jesus are fantasy and as real as Star Wars They need to hear about the change in your life and see the difference He makes every day for you If you want to learn more about my church, you can find us at SAF.church. If you like the devotional, share it with someone. If you don't, tell me. I hope you'll join me again tomorrow for "A Little Walk with God."

In the message "What Spirit Is Motivating You?", Pastor Jerry looks at how Christians are to judge. We all judge... We have to. We are even supposed to... But we are only supposed to make righteous judgments... and that's difficult. What spirit is motivating your judgment? Is your judgment of the flesh, or from the Spirit of God? Sometimes it's actually difficult to know the difference. Spiritual maturity plays a huge part in distinguishing between our passions, and God's plan. We NEED the breath (Spirit) of God in the Church... WE NEED KNOWLEDGE OF HIS WORD, AND We need discernment that only comes from that Holy Spirit.

But sometimes the distance we feel between ourselves and God we create through our own sin and rebellion. The latter was the case with Judah and the reason why God allowed the Babylonians to besiege the nation. But whether we created the distance between us and God, or circumstances beyond our control have contributed to that feeling, the good news is that God has never forsaken His people.
