In this deeply moving episode, I talk with Hayle Hendrix, a mom of two and owner of Salon Envy and The Willow Salon in Owasso, OK.Hayle opens up about her traumatic experience during the birth of her second child. She shares how she's overcome struggles to not only build two successful salons but also pour back into her community in meaningful ways.Inside this conversation:Hayle's journey through trauma, healing, and rebuildingThe challenges of balancing recovery, motherhood, and business ownershipWhat helped her keep going through some of her darkest daysHow motherhood has shaped her definition of successThe powerful ways she's now giving back to othersHayle's vulnerability, grit, and heart are truly inspiring. This episode is a must-listen for anyone facing personal challenges while chasing their dreams.
First, there's the voice. Devoid of affectation or theatrics, it's a delightful instrument, one wielded with true subtlety. Technically a dramatic mezzo, it moves with graceful ease from slightly husky sensuality to bluesy boisterousness conveying, at turns, sweet romanticism and gently aching melancholy. Its purity of tone matched by impeccable phrasing, this is a voice to be reckoned with. Then there are the songs. On Arms Full of Roses, her debut album, Hayle covered pop classics “Look of Love” and “Can't Take My Eyes off You”, but it was her own compositions, evocative of Gershwin and Cole Porter, that truly captured the imagination. Her virtually unclassifiable style, and extraordinary gift for both music and lyrics, is again evident on So Much For Good Behaviour. Featuring original songs sure to be mistaken as classics, (“But You Do”, “Summer's Kiss” and “Impossible You” among them); a who's who of Canadian musicians (including the legendary Guido Basso, with a haunting chromatic harmonica solo on Summers Kiss); and the contributions of Juno Award-winning recording engineer John Bailey, and Emmy Award-winning producer Don Breithaupt, So Much For Good Behaviour is a confluence of artistry and ingenuity. “These songs wrote themselves. In fact, I didn't quite know where they were going until they took me there,” says Hayle, of her quirky, complex and layered compositions. Consider the poetry and homage to a by-gone era, and you'll understand why this is something special: Drunk on second chances / This serenade / A cavalcade / Of flowery would be trues... and It's helplessly, haplessly / Hopelessly, maddeningly / Wonderful Wanting You... and Did I misread your glance as something more than fleeting / Did I mistake the kiss that lingers on my lips / I only ask as winter passes / You will remember / And save me your Summer's Kiss And Then. Montreal-born and Toronto-based, this jazz chanteuse has had a fascinatingly chameleonic career, and draws from a deep well of experience in creating her work. Hayle's musical, vocal and lyrical maturity, so evident on the albums, is eloquent testimony to a lifelong commitment to the crafts of singing and song writing. Robyn Hayle, began vocal and piano lessons at the Royal Conservatory in Montreal at age seven, and won her first International Music Competition at nine, singing “Faust.” By thirteen, she was performing in city clubs, singing backup for popular Quebec entertainer Tony Roman. At 15, Hayle became the youngest music student ever at McGill, but soon defected to rock 'n roll. She toured with such stars as Johnny Farrago and Patsy Gallant and headed her own bands, prior to relocating to Toronto, where she was soon in demand for jingles and voiceover work — in both official languages. In Toronto, Robyn also worked on children's programming for TVO, including Sesame Street, and the internationally acclaimed Today's Special, in which she played the computer “TXL Series Four”, and did animated voices that earned her a global cult following. A stint in New York City studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse was followed by a move to Los Angeles. RH Returning to her first love — and passion — Robyn Hayle is currently promoting the recently released So Much For Good Behaviour. #robynhayle #standupcomedian #todaysspecial #chrispomay #livewithcdp #barrycullenchevrolet For more information, contact info@robynhayle.com.https://robynhayle.comhomehttps://beacons.ai/chrisdpomayhttps://www.cameo.com/chrispomaypaypal.me/chrispomayWant to create live streams like this? I ran my first, and so far only, ultra marathon in 2021 - the 44 mile Classic Quarter - to celebrate a landmark birthday which was a few weeks before the run. This podcast started as a way of me learning how to do that - hence why it's called Running 44@60. The adventure then turned into a book and as a business consultant it became both a business and running book and is available on Amazon via this link: 12 Business Lessons from Running an Ultra Marathon. My run raised over £7000 for Childrens Hospice South West Music Therapy programme and every book bought on Amazon generates another £5 for the programme. George Eustice MP spent nine years at Defra, rising to become Secretary of State for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs in 2020, a position he held until 2022. He has been the Conservative MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle in Cornwall since 2010 but has said he will not stand in the next General Election, recently launching a consultancy business. In a remarkably frank and fascinating conversation, George lifts the lid on decisions made at the very top of rural politics – and has some predictions for farmers and estate owners about what might be just around the corner.

One of the UK's most prominent ultra running events, the Arc of Attrition, is happening in Cornwall on January 27-28th. There are two versions the 100 mile which starts in Coverack and then shares the same last 50 miles with 50 mile version which starts at the Minack Theatre. The sand dunes at Hayle come into play with around 14 miles to go in both events and at the end of the dunes in the final checkpoint at Godrevy. My plan is to run the Arc 50 in 2024 so now is a good time of year to practice running the dunes section in the dark, which it inevitably will be when I get there. So in this episode the Running 44@60 podcast you will hear an edited version of my run in the dark through the dunes with local personal trainer and dunes navigation expert Tracy Waite.I hope it might be useful for those of you taking part this year who may not have had a chance to practice the section through the dunes. This is episode 108 of the Running 44@60 podcast. "At this point, my awareness level has shifted in so many ways, and I'm now at the point where I want to help other people move through those motions of just, going through all the things that life throws up. Different ways to potentially cope, obviously different things work for different people." On today's episode I am joined by Shelby Hayle, who is also the owner of Hayle Creative Co. In this episode, Hayle has a powerful conversation with a friend of hers, Miranda Powell. Miranda is a recent college graduate, she is very driven, and passionate about Jesus. One thing that stands out about Miranda, is despite all the suffering she has gone through, her faith is unwavering, and it is rare for someone of her age. In this conversation, Miranda walks us through how anxiety came unexpectedly into her story, and came really close to talking her out. Miranda explains how she realized that she was actually placing expectations on the people around her to “heal” her anxiety, instead of believing that God could heal her. It is Hayle's prayer that through this conversation, God would use it to provide hope and encouragement, and that you too would begin to Trust God more than you ever have before.
The No Matter What Podcast is designed to encourage young women in their faith to be steadfast and immovable even in the midst of suffering. The Bible promises that we will walk through suffering, but the prayer is that we walk through suffering in a way that doesn't dismiss it, but in a way that offers it up to the Lord for him to use for our good and His glory. The podcast is Hosted by Hayle Swinson. The conversations that you will hear are from women who have walked through suffering, and despite it all, their faith in Jesus hasn't derailed but it has grown stronger. It is Hayle's heart that God would use this podcast to raise up a generation of young women who will wholeheartedly follow Jesus No Matter What.

Sir David Jason turned 80 this year and spent lockdown writing his new book A Del of a Life: Lessons I’ve Learned which describes how, despite beginning his career as an electrician, he went on to play some of the UK's best-loved characters including Granville, Pa Larkin, Detective Inspector Jack Frost, Danger Mouse and, of course, Derek Trotter. He explains to Richard Coles and Nikki Bedi how he achieved the title of Britain’s 4th most hard working actor. Journalist and television presenter Steph McGovern is currently hosting Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4, but before that she worked for the BBC as the main business presenter for BBC Breakfast. She describes herself as a hustler, persuading the BBC to take her on after doing work experience and becoming Robert Peston’s producer before moving in front of the camera. Paul Stone (aka ‘My Dog Sighs’) gave up his teaching job to pursue his dream of being an artist. Rejected by every gallery he approached, he returned to his former career resigned to the fact that his dream would never become a reality. His desire to make art never left, and so inspired by graffiti artists (but not wanting to get in trouble with the law), he began secretly painting on discarded items of rubbish and leaving them for people to find. Wendy Mason-Smith was 19 years old when her father decided to sell his newsagent in Hayle, Cornwall and hand build a catamaran to sail his family to Australia. Despite having very little sailing experience and being known for his terrible DIY skills, Wendy, her two younger siblings and parents, set off in the summer of 1976. In this episode, Hayle has a conversation with Misty Paige. Misty shares how she walked through 3 different seasons of life where she experienced the loss of all her hair and how she walked through the emotional effects of being a single mother who is bald. There were moments when Misty didn't want to go out of the house or look at herself in the mirror. She would say, despite it all, she wouldn't trade it. God has taught her so much about who He is and has shown her who she is, through it all. I hope you are encouraged by our conversation and may God use it to breathe life into your soul, a conviction in your heart, and hope to your mind.

It's the first podcast of 2020 and we talk to George Eustice, MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle about the high street fund and the future of Camborne town.
Today’s guest, Shelby Hayle, is not only a friend, but she also does work for MUVE LIFE and The MUVE FORWARD Podcast. We met at a Female Rising event and immediately were drawn to each other. Having both lost a parent, we know the heartache that one can truly only feel if you’ve suffered that type of loss and so we immediately felt that connection. Today we’re going to hear about Shelby’s past struggles with mental illness and her healing journey with her husband, and how he has helped her stay on track. She talks about the devastating year she had in losing both her Papa and Father, all while being pregnant with her first and only child. Shelby is the true definition of a warrior. She has been through the darkest of times, but she has found a way to bring joy back into her life. When Shelby was 17, she moved away from home to start her University career. Being on her own made her take notice of her inner voice and how she was feeling. She was noticing that her motivation was lessening each morning and she knew something wasn’t right. Shortly after this realization, she started on a journey to figure out what she could do to feel like her best self again. As she spoke with Doctors and then a Psychologist, and then a Therapist - they were all in agreement that her mental health was not in a good state. Fortunately, she was highly motivated to feel better so she dove into therapy and also started on a journey of trying various medications to help her chemical imbalance with depression and anxiety. Throughout this entire journey, Shelby was in a relationship with her high school sweetheart and now husband, Jordan - and so he was part of her journey from day one with her mental illness. She remembers thinking that she knew one day she would marry him and that hopefully, they would be able to start a family together, and she knew she wanted to be healthy mentally when she brought a child into the world. As she got older, she remembers a day where she said to her husband, “I am ready. I am ready to move forward and I am ready to not be on medication.” It took about two years of consistent therapy and doing the work, as well as 10 months to wean off her medications when she felt ready - in full. Over the two years, her therapy sessions went from weekly, to bi-weekly, to monthly and then were eventually only on an as-needed basis. After ridding herself of all medications and feeling mentally strong again, Shelby and her husband decide to begin the journey of starting a family. They felt very blessed to become pregnant and were expecting their baby in August of 2019. Early February 2019, Shelby received a phone call in the middle of the night that her Grandfather had passed unexpectedly. One week later on family day weekend, Shelby received another phone call telling her that her father was in a snowmobile accident and had died instantly. Her first thoughts were, “how am I going to do this.” As the months passed, and she came closer to her due date with their baby - she finally had a moment where she realized that there was a tiny human inside of her that she hadn’t been paying much attention to in her efforts to make sure everyone else was okay. She finally accepted help, reluctantly and took time off work to dedicate the last 7 weeks before the baby’s arrival to heal her mind and to connect with the baby. Shelby shares this closing message: "It's important to know that you can take the time you need to heal. Forgive yourself, and know that you’re not alone. You have a voice and you are allowed to use it. Take the time to grow, to learn and to heal. You are the only vehicle you have in your life to make yourself truly happy and enjoy this beautiful life. Do something you love each day and take care of yourself so that you can take care of those you love the most.” Connect with Shelby on Instagram: @shelbyhayle @thehayleco

Pasor Simon Selley from Hayle visits us to preach on being a disciple of God and what that looks like in our lives, particularly focusing on the idea of prayer. He references both Isaiah 9, Matthew 6:5-8, as well as various parts of Luke (Luke 4:42 & 6:12) during the sermon.

The show has highlights from the Birdman’s holiday at Hayle in Cornwall where his bike broke down – so he had to buy a new one (well new to him, it was a 1963 Triumph T90 which needed new tank badges and a speedo). The bike makes a terrible racket. Paul James has been on the “Voice of Peace” for the last 4 weeks or so. Bob tells us that “I Eat Cannibals” by the Belle Stars is the best record out at the moment. Mark brings in an unrelased live Genesis track from a flexidisc on the cover of “Flexipop” magazine. We hear lots more from The Mystics.
This short movie was filmed at Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary in Hayle, Cornwall. It's not exactly March of the Penguins, but I thought someone would be interested.
Whilst filming some of the bird residents at Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary in Hayle, Cornwall I came across some Golden Conures with great personalities. They were particularly interested in my video camera, especially when I turned the LCD viewfinder on them so they were able to watch themselves.
