Anemoia presents one of our favourite Berlin bookings - Hisashi (Snapout). Originally from Sendai, Japan, Hisashi spent a decade refining his DJ skills in Tokyo, making his mark on the city with regular appearances at Shibuya's KOARA and RED BAR—key venues in the Tokyo underground scene. His influence extends beyond Japan, having performed at Berlin's Club der Visionäre, Frankfurt's Silvergold, and Korea's MODECi. After a decade of experience behind the decks, he relocated to Berlin in 2022, where he co-runs the label "Snapout" with yama', Takashi Himeoka, and Riku Sugimoto. About this month's mix, he says: "This mix is a collection of records I don't usually play in clubs—mainly ambient, downtempo, IDM, and trip-hop from my home listening shelf. While I mostly collect house and techno, I've always had a deep love for slower, moodier sounds. D59B felt like the perfect place to share this quieter side of my collection." 0:50 Insights into Japanese Football and Coaching JourneyHisashi reminisces about his early experiences with football in Japan, particularly enjoying lunchtime games with classmates. He cites Keisuke Honda as a childhood hero and recalls a significant match where Gamba Osaka faced Manchester United, which motivated him to become a football coach. Hisashi emphasizes the competitiveness of Japanese football and the excitement of watching teams like Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa.10:21 -The State of Football Development in JapanHisashi explained that football has become increasingly popular in Japan, competing closely with baseball. He emphasized the importance of university football as a developmental stage for young players who may not transition directly to professional leagues, with many opting for education alongside their athletic pursuits.16:08 - University Pathways and Player Development in Japanese FootballHisashi discussed the relationship between Japanese universities and J-League clubs, noting that players often prioritize education over early professional contracts. While some players may sign with clubs during their third year, many choose to complete their degrees before becoming free agents, which allows them to negotiate with various clubs. This shift has attracted interest from international clubs, leading to changes in recruitment strategies.22:01 -Cultural Perspectives on Coaching in Japan and EnglandHisashi compares the coaching methods in Japan and England, noting that Japan has modeled its football academy system after European countries. He emphasizes the cultural differences, particularly in how players are treated, with Japanese coaches fostering independence and critical thinking from a young age, allowing players to take ownership of their development.32:04 -Discussion on Honda's Iconic Persona in FootballHisashi shares insights on Honda's distinctive style and personality, which set him apart from other players like Shinji Okazaki and Shinji Kagawa. He emphasizes Honda's boldness, including his fashion choices and outspoken nature, which resonated with fans and made him an icon. Michael Wright adds that Honda's nonconformity plays a significant role in his appeal.33:45- Cultural Perspectives on Coaching and Responsibility in SportsHisashi explains that Japanese coaches often allow players to think independently rather than providing direct answers, fostering a sense of personal responsibility. He highlights that this cultural approach encourages players to work hard and conform to group expectations, even when not directly supervised. Michael Wright expresses curiosity about how this contrasts with the behavior of young players in England, who might act out if left alone.39:59 -Discussion on Player Self-Regulation in CoachingMichael asked Hisashi about the potential for players in England to self-regulate and the time it might take for this to become effective. Hisashi responded that, in his experience, this model often does not work well due to the cultural context and the way players are taught. He noted that while players in Japan take ownership of their responsibilities regardless of supervision, this mindset may not be as prevalent in England.42:36- Exploring Coaching Approaches in Japanese FootballMichael and Hisashi explore the structured training methods prevalent in Japanese football, emphasizing the role of routine and repetition in skill development. Hisashi notes that while this approach fosters technical proficiency, it may limit players' creativity and adaptability in game situations. Michael adds that the challenge lies in translating training skills into live, pressurized moments on the pitch.. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On September 30th, 1999 a 35 year old man named Hisashi Ouchi was working at the JCO Tokaimura Plant in Tokaimura, Japan.  On this day, he’d been asked to forgo his normal daily responsibilities and assist with a project being conducted at a nearby experimental nuclear reactor.  Shortly after work began a coworker screamed, “Run for your lives!”.  Ouchi darted from the room and found himself inside a changing area.  There, he began vomiting and soon lost consciousness.  Over the following months, almost everyone who came into contact with Ouchi would, in their own time, come to wish that he’d never awoken from his collapse.  But he did wake up.  This was the first of 83 days that would eventually prove themselves to be among the most painful that a human being has ever endured. https://whereistheline.net/ https://www.patreon.com/whereistheline https://www.facebook.com/whereisthelinepodcast/ https://www.instagram.com/whereisthelinepodcast/

Healing Hearts tells the inspirational stories of Eight courageous mothers and the doctor with whom they share a unique bond.  For pediatric heart surgeon Hisashi Nikaidoh, MD, a chance encounter near the hospital cafeteria would stay in his mind forever. The woman he ran into had lost her son in this hospital years earlier. Now she was working in the very place that had been unable to save her child’s life. Dr. Nikaidoh was stunned. He wondered how she could tolerate coming here every day. But respecting her privacy, he never asked the question. After losing his own son in a tragic accident several years later, Dr. Nikaidoh struggled terribly under the weight of his own grief. And his thoughts went back to this woman. What did she know that he could learn—this loving mother who seemed to have made peace with her loss? Healing Hearts shares eight mothers’ deeply honest and gut-wrenching journeys through grief—their pain, anger, attempts at solace with alcohol and bad relationships—as well as their decisions to honor their children by committing to lives of service. Ultimately, these are love stories—the powerful and reciprocal love of parents, children, caretakers, and most importantly, the love from the Above that brings healing to the broken-hearted.
