Being an influential leader means adapting to the changing times, and realizing the importance of effective and significant communication among team members. In today's short podcast, I want to share my best strategy for separating myself from the actions/behaviors/opinions of others, so I don't allow THEIR head voices to get in the way of the impact I want to make What most people do, is they are really excited about something they are putting out in the world, but the moment others aren't as excited about that thing, they think there is something wrong with what they created. Then they switch to something else, only to repeat the cycle. Sometimes it does pick up steam, until someone gives you their "opinion" of what you're doing, which plays into your limiting beliefs, and then you stop showing up as the leader you were meant to be. Today, I want to help share a way that might help you when you run into this situation. This episode is a continuation of last week where I talked about 3 of the key qualities to look for in a captain. If you choose to have formal leaders, I believe choosing a captain is one of the first and sometimes more difficult decisions you make at the beginning of the season. But once the appointment is made, your work has just begun. Developing leadership skills is an ongoing process, every day, all season long. You can't assume they will automatically be a good leader. Even if you believe they have the right personality, they're a talented athlete, or have already demonstrated skills as a ‘natural leader'. That doesn't mean they actually know what to do if you give them a leadership role. A captain's influence is powerful. If you spend the time to specifically help your captains develop into the type of leader you want, you will be able to make sure their influence is in line with your vision and direction for the team. Let's talk about 2 key actions you can take to develop strong leadership skills in your captains. _________ Mentioned in the Show: Free Download: Roadmap to Choosing the Right Captains Journey to Elite Captain Self-Paced online leadership course for dance team leaders: Journey to Elite Captain __________ Did you enjoy today's episode?
