In Part Two of Clint's conversation with Wes Adams – Founder & CEO of SV Consulting Group, researcher at the University of Pennsylvania's Positive Psychology Center, and co-author of “Meaningful Work” – Wes breaks down what actually creates high-performing teams and why trust, psychological safety, and communication matter more than most leaders realize.Wes explains how great teams encourage diverse ideas, why leaders need to create environments where people feel safe sharing bad news early, and how collaboration improves when teams adopt a “yes, and” mindset instead of shutting ideas down. He also discusses the importance of values-based hiring, intentional onboarding, and how organizations can build stronger cultures by aligning leadership behavior with company values. The conversation also explores the future of meaningful work in the age of AI, and why human skills like empathy, adaptability, strategic thinking, and communication are becoming more valuable, not less. This is the second part of a two-part conversation.Topics Covered:Why psychological safety drives team performanceThe connection between trust and accountabilityHow leaders create environments where people feel safe speaking upWhy teams perform better when diverse ideas are welcomedLessons leaders can learn from improv and the “yes, and” mindsetEncouraging participation from quieter or introverted team membersThe importance of equal airtime in meetingsWhy remote and hybrid teams require more intentional communicationHow to respond productively during conflict and disagreementThe PEAR model for handling difficult conversationsWhy character and values matter more than raw talent when hiringThe long-term impact of onboarding and first impressionsUsing positive feedback to reinforce high performanceHow meaningful work influences accountability and collaborationThe role of AI in reshaping work and leadershipWhy human skills are becoming even more valuable in an AI-driven worldLinks:Wes' LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/wesadams1/ Wes' book, “Meaningful Work” - https://amzn.to/430EmSa

Your calendar is full. Your days are packed. You are grafting. And yet your business still feels like it's running you instead of the other way around. That's not a time management problem. That's your leader identity trying to get your attention underneath a pile of doing. In today's episode, I'm breaking apart the doer identity, the part of you that was built to be the reliable one, the one who got things done, the one who never let anything slip, and why that same part is now the ceiling you keep hitting. I'm talking about the subconscious beliefs that made "busy" feel like "worthy" and why no amount of discipline will fix what is actually an identity shift waiting to happen.I'm also sharing exactly what your calendar is revealing about your CEO mindset right now (whether you like it or not, it's basically your subconscious document) and I'm giving you four things to do this week, starting with how you open your laptop tomorrow morning, that start building your CEO identity in real time. This one's going to land. And it might sting a little.Topics covered on Leader Identity:What is your calendar telling you about your leader identity right nowThe subconscious beliefs that made "doing more" feel like the only way to be valuedThe difference between a doer who fills every gap in their calendar vs a leader who protects CEO space on purposeHow to start building your CEO identity even if you don't have any team membersThe one identity shift that changes how you show up to your business every single dayWhy your CEO mindset is measured by intention, not by how many tasks you completedConnect with Rebecca Haydon:Apply to work with meThe Subconscious MembershipCome say hi on Instagram | Facebook | YouTubeRelated episodes you may enjoy:277. You've defined your payoff. You know your math. You've identified your audience. You've picked your channel. Now what? Now you actually talk to people. This is Step 5 in our 7-part series on scaling your coaching business from one-to-one to one-to-many. And this is the step most coaches skip entirely, or confuse with selling. Connection is not selling. It is not coaching in the DMs. It is the contact sport that happens before any of that, and if it's not in your calendar, it's not happening. In this episode, Adam and Jess break down what real connection looks like, why active and passive approaches both work depending on who you are, and why the same tactics that filled your one-to-one roster will not fill a group. What You'll LearnWhy connection is Step 5 and not Step 2, and what goes wrong when coaches invert the orderThe difference between active connection (DMs, texts, outreach) and passive connection (email nurture, stages, podcasts) and why both are validWhy you should never sell or coach in the DMs during the connection phaseHow Jess grew her email list by 20% in a week and a half with two lead magnets and what that means for connection at scaleWhy 60-80% email open rates are possible when your nurture sequence is built rightWhat a weekly connection plan actually looks like in your calendarWhy the same connection approach that got you 10 one-to-one clients won't get you 100 group membersThe difference between one-to-one outreach and one-to-many connection systems and when to use eachWhy "systems are just the standards you live by" is the most important sentence in this episodeWhat's coming in Step 6: enrolling people into your offer without it feeling like a sales pitchTimestamps00:00 Welcome to Step 5: Connect00:54 Why connect comes after channel, not before02:06 Audience vs. connection: what the difference actually means03:47 Why coaches invert connect and audience and what it costs them04:42 The "build it and they will come" trap05:55 What active connection looks like in practice06:22 Active vs. passive connection: Adam vs. Jess approach07:38 The rule: never sell and never coach in the DMs09:26 How Jess grew her email list 20% in a week and a half10:19 Why open rates matter more than list size11:00 Why connection has to be in your calendar or it won't happen12:57 Systems are the standards you live by13:48 One-to-one connection vs. one-to-many connection systems14:37 Email, keynote speaking, and podcasting as passive one-to-many connection tools15:04 How the blueprint phases connect to this moment in your business17:15 Why 45-50 DMs in 90 minutes is a real time block, not a side hustle19:07 Why warming people through email first makes DM outreach more effective21:32 Connection needs a system, not a vibe23:53 Preview of Step 6: enrollingQuotes From This Episode"Once you've narrowed down with your math who you need to talk to and how you're going to talk to them, this episode is actually about talking to them. Are you enjoying your friendships? Are you able to be present with your people and soak up your time together? So often, people focus on what's missing in their friendships. They have this idea of what “peak” friendship might look like, which gets in the way of being grateful for what is there. I'm here to remind you that there is a stark contrast between HAVING connections and ENJOYING them. And this isn't just regarding our closest friends: how grateful are you for the acquaintance at the coffee shop? For your child's teacher, your hair stylist, or the people you work with?Today I talk about what might be getting in the way of your enjoyment, and I offer tips on how to be more present and happy while with friends. In this episode you'll hear about:Mental chatter and the fear of being “too much” or “not worthy,” and how this limits enjoyment in our friendshipsFriendship baggage, anxiety about the future, and working on receiving connection, even just small gestures from community membersThe present distractions that get in the way of enjoying friendships (mostly, it's the phones)The idea of “storing up connection for later” and multitasking during friend time – and why this doesn't always workResources & LinksLike what you hear? Insights from this episode:Extending the life of a garment to last beyond the trendsPattern cutting: what it is, and making something fit well from the inside outHow Janet's fashion came to be the talk of her fellow jury membersThe inspiration behind the London Reign pattern, from the design to the nameThe importance of crafting as self-care Quotes from the show:“I'm kind of bootylicious in my figure, and they don't cater for that in the shops. But I can cater to myself if I sew, and that became the key thing. The feeling of making a thing that fits is unmatched.” – Janet Hensell, Stitch Please, Episode #191“It really is this vicious circle of consumption and discarding. Buy it, wear it, throw it away. And this is another thing that sewing can reduce. It is a form of sustainability because the pieces that you end up making, you tend to hold onto them longer.” – Lisa Woolfork, Stitch Please, Episode #191“Crafting is self-care. Whether you're a carpenter, a seamstress, a dancer, whatever you do for your mental health and fun, it is self-care. For me that was sewing.” – Janet Hensell, Stitch Please, Episode #191“Know what fits your lifestyle and fits your body. And when I say fit, know to fit your garments to fit you. Even if the garment is made from a cheaper fabric, once it fits you, people won't even notice.” – Janet Hensell, Stitch Please, Episode #191 Resources Mentioned:Stitch Please Podcast episode: Pattern Cutting Deconstructed with Monisola OmotosoLondon Reign pattern and discount code: STITCHPLEASE35 valid on the London Reign dress pattern for 35% off. It's time to talk about decision-making as a CEO. Should you be making all the decisions for your business, or is it time to start sharing that responsibility? The problem with holding on to all the decision-making is that it doesn't leave enough time for you to make the strategic, high-level decisions that move your business forward. This is something I struggled with early in my business, and I've come to realize that a lot of other business owners struggle with it too. Transitioning from an entrepreneur running the business day-to-day to a CEO who delegates day-to-day tasks is challenging but super important if you want your business to continue to grow. Let's get into it.In this episode, you'll learn:Why it's so hard to hand over decision-making What decisions you should hand off to other team membersThe importance of trust in your team members How to avoid micromanaging The type of decisions that a CEO is in charge ofWhy you need to make time for strategic, high-level decision-making What you should be focusing on as a CEO How to decide what decisions to delegate How to empower your team to take ownership and make decisionsWhy you need to set clear expectations and deadlines Links & Resources:The Art of Online Business websiteDM me on InstagramVisit my YouTube channelThe Art of Online Business clips on YouTubeFull episodes of The Art of Online Business Podcast on YouTubeThe Art of Online Business Podcast websiteCheck out my Accelerator coaching program*Disclosure: I only recommend products I use and love and all opinions expressed here are my own.
