I joined twitter in 2009 and for 15 years - until this very month - it has been my favorite social media platform. The one place where I am only a consumer and not a creator. The place where I met my earliest online friends. The place where I made most of my best online memories following breaking news, political, scandal, and pop culture. And the only other person I know who has been obsessed with twitter for as long as I have been? None other than friend and podcaster Jamie Golden. Jamie and I have shared many obsessions over the years - and I write about her in The Life Council as the Fellow Obsessive friend - but our love of twitter has always been our biggest shared passion. And despite saying numerous times over the years that we'd never leave, we both decided in the last few weeks to depart our formerly favorite space. And thus, a funeral for twitter. In this conversation, Jamie and I talk about our earliest days on twitter, why we loved it so much, our favorite moments, a few of our regrets, and, of course, why we're leaving. You don't have to care about twitter to enjoy this passionate conversation between friends. My hope for this episode is that you'll get a little glimpse into some social media history and that you'll see yourself in a discussion about how being online has changed us.Follow Jamie Golden on IGFollow Jamie Golden on BlueskyListen to Jamie Golden on her podcasts The Popcast with Knox and Jamie and Faith AdjacentFollow Laura Tremaine on BlueSkyFULL SHOW NOTES HEREMENTIONED in this episode:Black Twitter: A People's History (hulu docuseries)Extremely Online by Taylor LorenzSo You've Been Publicly Shamed by Jon RonsonJAMIE's past episodes of 10 Things To Tell You:Ep. 14: Skincare and Makeup Favorites with Jamie GoldenEp. 51: Masterminds: How to create and structure a business peer group (with guests Jamie Golden, Bri McKoy, and Kendra Adachi)Ep. 105: Needles, Lasers, and Fillers in Your Face (Jamie Holden RETURNS!)Ep. 164: Are we friends or not? This week, Kate has on a highly requested guest co-host (Jamie Golden from The Popcast) and like true Yearbook Camp queens, they lay out a dynamic collection of topics for your enjoyment. Such as meeting over chicken tenders, thinking about getting fringe bangs, exploring differences and common enemies between Gen X and Millennials, finding comedy in religious conversations, Jamie and Kate's days as narc-y evangelical teens, the NOs of summer camp, the ruse of high school clubs, and the misery of monetizing your hobbies. From cake pops to cake toppers to predictions for pop culture, this episode has something for everyone, except maybe Sean and Seth. This episode is for anyone who has (or wants) a Soul Sister. In my book about friendship THE LIFE COUNCIL: 10 Friends Every Woman Needs, I write about my freshman college roommate and longtime LA roommate Lindsay Lawler. In the book, and in my life, Lindsay occupies the seat on my my life council that I call the SOUL SISTER. And in this conversation you're going to see why. We have been connected spiritually and logistically and our lives have been intertwined since we were 18 years old. In this episode, Lindsay and I talk about living in the dorms together, living in the Hollywood hills together, the ways we (accidentally) broke one another's hearts, and the ways we light each other up. Our bond and this conversation is a special one. But the BIG reason I wanted to share this Secret Tapes conversation with Lindsay with you right now is that Lindsay is a singer and songwriter based in nashville and her latest album comes out this week! It's called Peaches Holyoke and the first single Trying To Get Back To Texas is available on all streaming platforms now. This is Lindsay's first full length album in 8 years, it features 13 tracks, and you might also hear that new single Trying To Get Back To Texas spinning on OUTLAW COUNTRY on Sirius XM Channel 62. I love Lindsay, I love her music, and after listening to this excerpt of our Secret Tapes conversation about our deep friendship for over 25 years, i think you will love her too. As someone who has been writing and creating on the internet for over a decade, I know first hand all the challenges that one can face in their pursuit of creative work. The desire to create is there, but the obstacles are real, especially if you become a parent and feel like your time, resources and energy are limited. My guest, Ashlee Gadd, is the perfect person to speak to his as she has just released a book called Create Anyway: The Joy of Pursuing Creativity in the Margins of Motherhood Ashlee and I ended up talking for two hours about art and perfectionism, how it takes a village to create good work, and the social media of it all. We also took a tangent and had a fascinating discussion about paid communities (including Patreon - where I host Secret Stuff), and metrics and some of the more in-the-weeds parts of content creation. That part of the conversation will be available to Secret Stuff members only. JOIN SECRET STUFF HERE I felt so inspired after talking with Ashlee. You don't have to be a writer or online creator to enjoy this conversation. All of us are wired for some sort of creative expression and life can always get in the way of that. Y'all have heard Knox McCoy on the show, back in February 2018 when we had him and Jamie Golden on together (they are The Popcast, but you probably know that), but today the KNOX STANDS ALONE and we chat down a million rabbit trails. He's an incredibly gifted writer (humor that leads to deep thinking is my favorite and his specialty) and his new book All Things Reconsidered is out now. It's a really great read. YOU ALL ARE NOT READY FOR THIS! We are so, so excited about this episode with Jamie Golden! Jill, especially, has been fan-girling and still can't believe God allowed this. If you listen to the Popcast or the Bible Binge podcasts you know exactly who this is, and if you don't, you should! Download right now! Jamie Golden is one of the podcasters and partners of the Popcast Media Group. The podcast is "a show that is dedicated to delightful idiocy and educating you on the things that entertain, but do not matter." The Bible Binge is a show where they recap stories from the Bible as if they were a book, a TV show, or a movie. It makes Bible stories come to life. Jamie tells stories today with humor, humility and truth. She will share a story of when God told her to take a leap of faith and quit her job without knowing what was coming next. You will also hear a crazy story of a car accident with another driver that was not what she was expecting! She reminds us that the Word is a lamp unto our feet, not a floodlight on a football field. We also learn that "Comedy breaks down walls so Truth can enter." We laughed so much and had a blast doing this interview! You are going to love it! The Popcast with Knox and Jamie The Bible Binge Eat This Book- Eugene H. Peterson
In the next stop of the For the Love Live Tour, our TV soulmates return! Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden of the ever delightful show, The Popcast, come back to tell us about more things that entertain but do not matter (and a few things that actually do!). Jen dives into Knox and Jamie’s back story and how they met on the internet back before our parents were on Facebook and people still asked Jeeves a question from time to time—plus they dish on their best business advice for people who want to start their own podcast. The trio talks about all things under the pop culture sun, like how to create a dream Hallmark movie, why Ariel is a garbage princess and why Ursula the Evil Sea Witch is Jamie’s personal hero. Plus, of course, the best TV you need to be bingeing right now! They also fill us in about their other podcast, The Bible Binge (it’s like if People Magazine told Bible stories) and how God can be found in pop culture —and how humor can be healing because, as Jamie says, “Sometimes you just need an hour to escape the dumpster fire.”
We may not have watched the Oscars this year, but that doesn't stop us from having big opinions about 1) the dresses and 2) the current relationship status of Mindy Kaling and BJ Novak. In this episode we discuss both topics in great detail. We also talk about the fact that college baseball starts this weekend (!!!), and I dig into my thoughts about the State / A&M women's basketball game this past Sunday (here's a hint: both teams were fantastic). It will not surprise you to learn that Melanie shares some beauty product updates (she is breathing, after all), and she has also discovered a new serum she can't wait to try. Her skin care persistence is both inspiring and admirable. Enjoy, y'all. Become a Patron! We'd love for you to subscribe on iTunes, and we'd be honored if you'd leave us a review. Yes, you read that right. We had THE Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden from The Popcast with Knox and Jamie to discuss Christians and pop culture. It was such a fun episode. A funny episode. And an informative episode. Hopefully, our discussion (better yet, their words) help you navigate the somewhat awkward relationship with pop culture you may have. Also, we had a fun lightning round of random rapid-fire questions near the end. Don't skip it! If you want to follow us on social media (Totally your call. We aren't forcing you. Our guests today are hilarious, smart and up on the Enneagram. Cohosts of the popular Popcast, Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden join Ian in a conversation about self-awareness, the dynamics of working together as an Enneagram 5 and 7, and how pop culture and personality play into each other. Knox McCoy loves laughing and making people laugh. Really anything that’s laughter-adjacent, he’s into. He’s also super into the word “swashbuckling” and his dream is to one day use it in a bio. Knox began podcasting in 2011 as a way to talk more about popular culture, and to his extreme surprise, he’s still doing it every week on The Popcast with Knox and Jamie. Knox lives with his wife and three kids in Birmingham, Alabama, where he works as a screenwriter and as the swashbuckling cofounder of The Popcast Media Group. Knox enjoys movies, football, food, and sleep and prefers them to all be in very close proximity to each other. One time, he saw Common at the airport and talked to him briefly. It was pretty sweet. Jamie B. Golden has been co-hosting The Popcast with Knox and Jamie since August 2013. It is a nationally ranked, weekly pop culture podcast that’s part deep dive, mostly shallow end. Jamie and Knox also launched their newest podcast, The Bible Binge, in February 2018. Seasons 1, 2, 4, and 4 of The Bible Binge wrapped in the top 3% of all podcasts. Jamie has presented at TEDx, Mom 2.0, Dreamcatchers Conference, Southern Social Summit, See Jane Write, Permanency Conference and will be presenting at Alt Summit in March 2019. Jamie makes her home in Birmingham, Alabama, where she teaches monthly at Church of the Highlands and advocates for foster and adopted children serving as a volunteer for Heart Gallery Alabama. Jamie enjoys good movies, even better TV, and Chris Pine represented in both. One time, she was hit by a naked drunk driver on the way home from a Walking Dead party. It was pretty sweet.
I am super excited for you to listen to this episode of the love story series (sponsored by my book It’s a Love Story! (On sale now!) Today I host fellow bachelor recapper, podcaster, and author KNOX McCOY as we discuss The Wedding Singer. Thanks to our mutual friend Melanie Shankle, I started following Knox’s podcast THE POPCAST a few years ago and I haven’t turned back. If you love pop culture, you will love the show he hosts with his business partner Jamie Golden. And his book, The Wondering Years, is one of my latest greatest favorite books. I have links to all the things down below, so make sure to check it all out or just go to knoxmccoy.com and dig around. Oh, and sign up for his newsletter. Trust me. This week we discuss The Wedding Singer. Now I need to disclaim three things before you listen: I beat my desk in that way when you are laughing and you might slap your knee. I did that. Several times. Which brings me to number two:I laugh. I laugh a lot. I also laughed so much during this interview that I had to cut it in half because of time restraints. And finally, in the podcast when we talk about George (who is part of the wedding band) singing the song “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.” Except I say, “Do you really want to LOVE me." I need you to know that I know I was in the wrong. I just have love on the brain. The Wedding Singer is a stellar piece of pop culture as a movie, as well as a soundtrack. Both give you life. Why do I state that claim so boldly? Just listen to this movie synopsis: Set in 1985, Adam Sandler plays a nice guy with a broken heart who's stuck in one of the most romantic jobs in the world, a wedding singer. He loses all hope when he is abandoned at the altar by his fiancé (LINDA…). He meets a young woman named Julia (Drew Barrymore), who enlists his help to plan her wedding. He falls in love with her and must win her over before she gets married. The Wedding Singer taught us many things. For example, if you are going through a breakup, try writing a song about it or have the mutants at table 29 help you proclaim LOVE STINKS in front of the entire wedding party. Fingerless gloves never go out of style (is that just me?) and Deloreans are cool no matter the decade. But most of all, we learned not to let anyone wear our Van Halen t-shirts lest they jinx the band and they break up. This phenomenon may transcend time. That’s why my Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake concert tees are safe and sound in a secured lock box under my bed. You can never be too safe. Well, we start off as Mamaw and MeMaw this week, here to tell you all about our failing eyesight, but eventually we return to some of our favorite topics: kids' activities, college baseball (at the time we recorded Mississippi State and A&M were about to play a weekend series), and the most wonderful sporting event of the year, the SEC Baseball Tournament. We also talk about why we've avoided any sort of discussion about the current state of the Royal Family (stay tuned for a discussion about preciouslittleangel Archie sometime next week). Finally, we dig into whether Taylor Swift was inspired by Beyonce' or if she borrowed from Beyonce' - and then we go on and on about our very favorite sunscreen. So you might say that we cover some content bases. Enjoy, y'all! Meredith and Kaytee are happy to be recording again, and can’t believe we are already up to Episode 37! We have a few important announcements right at the top of the show, one of which requires your help, listeners! Send us your Ask Us Anything questions via email, Direct Message, or as a comment on show notes, and we’ll feature them in a future episode! You’ll hear a “bookish moment of the week” from each of us: each of them this week centers on reading with the kiddos. Next, we discuss our current reads for the week. We have an eclectic mix of titles from middle grade to adult, fiction and non-, humor and serious. A bit of everything! For our deep dive this week, we are chatting about the fifth category in our 2019 Reading Challenge: a book pressed into your hands by a librarian, bookseller, or podcaster. And we’ve got a trove of resources for you if you’re stuck on this one! As always, we finish up with A Book (yep, capitalized) that we’d like to press into every reader’s hands. This week has us pressing favorites that we’ve loved for a long time but were out of sight/out of mind until someone brought them back to our attention. As per usual, time-stamped show notes are below with references to every book and resource we mentioned in this episode. If you are intrigued by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as well as charcuterie boards, well - DO WE EVER HAVE AN EPISODE FOR YOU. We also talk about our low-key Valentine celebrations ("celebrations" is a *strong* word, really), discuss the wonder of a harp-playing raccoon, and break down what we love about some Nivea cream recommended by our good friend Jamie Golden. Finally, we share some exciting news (to us) (probably not to anyone else) about some inexpensive jeans *and* a sassy jumpsuit. We do hope you'll share in our joy. As always, thanks for listening, y'all! I am so happy to welcome Knox McCoy to the show. Knox and his family are no strangers to the Bragg’s. We used to live in the same city and became great friends. Knox even helped me launch the podcast way back when. If you don’t know Knox, he is the co-host of the wildly popular podcasts “The Popcast with Knox and Jamie” and “The Bible Binge” They are killing it on the iTunes charts and if you haven’t subscribed to their shows, then press pause and go do it. You won’t be disappointed. And sidebar, his co-host Jamie Golden was on Episode 17 of Surviving Sarah if you want to go back to hear more of her story. Knox joins me to talk about all things faith and pop culture. We talk about his book The Wondering Years along with what it was like to be so vulnerable in his writing. We talk about his evolving faith—how questions should be honored and what helped him navigate them. We also talk about everything from Survivor to baseball to something that blew his mind about his beloved Tom Brady. This is two friends talking about things that don’t really matter and things that do. I hope you enjoy it! No better way to kick off our month of couples than with these two (who are actually, in fact, not a romantic couple). Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden are the hosts of The Popcast and Bible Binge, as well as some very very fun side shows they offer their Patron community. You can find everything you want to know about them over at KnoxandJamie.com! We fling from here to there in this convo and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I've been DYING to be friends with these two and now they are so totally stuck with me for all our days. I adore them. I think you will too. . . . . . http://anniefdowns.com #thatsoundsfunpodcast ... join in the conversation wherever hashtags are welcome. :)
If you consider yourself a fan of pop culture, you'll love my time with Knox McCoy. Knox takes his musings of pop culture and shares how it shaped his view of God and his identity in his book, The Wondering Years. Show Highlights: Get a glimpse into Knox's experiences as we chat about being uncertain with His relationship with God brought him the most certainty in his Faith. I'll pepper you with the word "cliche" and put Knox in the position of reassuring me that loving the enneagram and being basic is not automatically annoying. We chat about pop culture as a learning tool for faith and theology. And I reveal my buffet of broad experiences in the church that has led to my questioning of truth in identity. After listening, I challenge you to re-watch a favorite movie or show and imagine how Jesus may use that very story to respond to a question of faith... just like he did with parables in the Bible. Check out Knox's book, The Wondering Years. Follow Knox on Instagram Knox's Website - Where you can learn more about The Popcast, The Bible Binge, and Sectional Healing. ____ Thanks for listening! Please be sure to subscribe here or here And I'd love to know what you thought about this episode by chatting with me on Instagram! I am an avid consumer of pop culture so I was thrilled to be speaking with Knox. He (and his co-host Jamie Golden) host TWO podcasts that use entertainment as the central theme of their shows. Here’s a breakdown of their two podcasts: The first podcast is called, The PopCast, and it’s LOL pop culture... meaning you’re gonna fall hard for this dynamic duo and they way they educate you on entertainment because they are so funny! Their other podcast, The Bible Binge, brings the delightful charm of the Popcast but adds on a biblical twist. It’s a retelling of our favorite and obscure bible stories as a TV show recap. This totally makes Knox the premier person to be speaking about all things entertainment and how that informs our identity in Christ.

I don't even know, y'all. Somehow in trying to correct something in 123 I deleted the last 10-ish minutes, which was our discussion about Jamie Golden's skincare routine. So please do follow Jamie on Instagram (@jamiebgolden), and please do forgive my besetting sin of not having a *super* strong understanding of Garage Band even though we've been podcasting since BEFORE THE DAWN OF TIME. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
You know those friends who know exactly what to watch and never steer you wrong? The friend who had an actual Smoke Monster terrorize guests during LOST watch parties? That other friend who does 7,000-word recaps of The Bachelor? These are (literally) those kinds of friends: Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden! Knox and Jamie are the hosts of The Popcast, a delightful show that, in Knox and Jamie’s words, “educates us on the things that entertain but do not matter.” Today, these pop culture partners-in-crime wrap up For the Love of TV and give us a gazillion shows we need to binge-watch: comedies, dramas, nuggets from TV shows past, their all-time favorites. Plus, they give us some tips on what not to watch with your family at the holidays (your grandma is thanking us already). This conversation will have you rolling, as will Knox’s debut book, The Wondering Years: How Pop Culture Helped Me Answer Life’s Biggest Questions. We even break out a little TV geek and talk about why there’s (finally!) so much diversity onscreen and what the future of entertainment holds.
It took us three tries to get this episode going; we had a little recording trouble with the site we normally use, so then we had to switch over to Skype and blah blah blah we're the Bad News Bears of podcasting. Hi, welcome to the podcast, now watch us get hit in the chest by a fly ball. Or maybe a microphone. Eventually, though, we found us a work-around, and we settled in for a nice, long chat about all manner of things: the State / Bama game, Melanie's recent trip to Marshall, Texas, upcoming speaking stuff, and an update on the Camellia boots. We also discuss the struggle of my current no-shopping resolution and a few things that have inspired the fire out of me lately. And finally, we break down our friend Jamie Golden's recent skincare product recommendations that she shared on Instagram. It's safe to say that she shared what most would consider a wealth of knowledge, and we are grateful. Enjoy, y'all! Jamie Golden has been co-hosting The Popcast with Knox McCoy since August 2013. It is a nationally ranked, weekly pop culture podcast that’s part deep dive, mostly shallow end. Jamie and Knox also launched their newest podcast, The Bible Binge, in February of 2018. Season 1 wrapped in the top 3% of all podcasts. She makes her home in Birmingham, Alabama where she advocates for foster and adopted children serving as a volunteer for Heart Gallery Alabama and CASA. Jamie also helps people tell their own stories better by serving with Arc Stories, a local nonprofit. Y'all. If you listen to podcasts, chances are, you've heard of "The Popcast," hosted by Knox McCoy and Jamie Golden. Who you might not know, is the master behind the scenes, Erin Hicks Moon (or, Erin "The Edge" Moon for Popcast loyalists). Elated was I when she agreed to chat all things crazy children, theater, conning our husbands into marrying us, how to love an Enneagram 3, the time suck and supreme delight that is instagram and what being President of the Zac Efron fan club really entails. This conversation was pure joy, and Erin is on my bucket list to meet in real life. It was an honor to chat with her for an hour - she's even better than her instagram stories make her out to be. (P.s. If you aren't watching her instagram stories, you aren't living.) Happy listening!
You'll be delighted (or not) to know that on this episode of the podcast we first discuss our respective struggles with our ongoing coughs. This is due to our combined age of 402. We also talk maybe a little too enthusiastically about the new royal baby (WE HAVE SOME THEORIES) before we spend some time revisiting Hazel's ACL situation. We also continue our pop culture discussion and dig into some exciting new beauty products that Melanie has tried (or is planning to try). As an added bonus, you will hear me grow increasingly hoarse over the course of the episode because we are all about that real upper respiratory infection life, y'all. Hope you enjoy! Well, episode 97 is really a continuation of episode 96, and I even thought about calling it episode 96.5, but WHATEVER EVERYBODY WE ARE SO CLOSE TO 100 AND I WILL TAKE EVERY NUMBER I CAN GET. Therefore comma I am embracing episode NINETY-SEVEN with everything I have. SO, here's what's happening this go 'round. Melanie and I continue our discussion of every day favorites (makeup remover! K-cups! and other exciting items!). Then our oh-so-funny friend Jamie Golden jumps in with some serious, life-giving wisdom about shopping at Sephora. And I know I mentioned this last week, but I'll mention it again: Jamie co-hosts The Popcast and The Bible Binge with Knox McCoy. She is one of the funniest people alive at this present time in American history and basically Melanie and I would listen to her read the phone book for infinity. Even better, though, is that talking to me makes Jamie's Southern accent way more pronounced, and that has blessed my actual heart every time I've listened. And I've listened a lot because for some reason this episode took me eleventy thousand hours to edit. I hope you feel that it was worth it. :-) Enjoy, y'all! Here's where you can get more info on the stuff / products / places we mention: Cheeky Maiden Complexion Facial Soap Sephora makeup remover Hummingbird Farms (their skincare line isn't out yet - but it's going to be FANTASTIC) Pickwick Tobacco, Leather and Woods candle Voluspa Goji Tarocco Orange Capri Blue Volcano candle Fresh Balsam candle Newman’s Own Medium Roast K-cups Tazo Chai Tea Latte Amazon Prime L'oreal Lash Paradise L’oreal Telescopic Waze app Notability Hanacure All-in-One Facial Makeup Addiction on Reddit Sunday Riley at Sephora Cold Plasma by Perricone Fresh Sugar The Popcast The Bible Binge The Popcast Live Show in Birmingham (Sophie will be there) The Popcast Live Show in Dallas (Melanie will be there) Closing Song Thanks to our sponsors: KIND Snack Club and swap.com.
This episode is the first of a two-part series, which all sounds very fancy until you realize that it's actually not fancy even a little bit. But here's what happened: first we talked about Melanie's car troubles and my new simple suppers plan. Then Melanie and I had a *very* lengthy discussion about some of our everyday favorites (coffee, running shoes, Mexican entrees, etc.), and since we talked for a sweet forever (not to mention that we wanted to keep the show notes at least a smidge shorter than a novel), we decided to break the favorites discussion into two episodes. BUT - since we didn't want these next two episodes to be shorter than what you're used to, we're offering a little bonus content in episodes 96 and 97: interviews with two of our favorite (and funny) podcast-y people. SO, here's how that will play out in this very special episode 96. For about 45 minutes (-ish) you'll hear Melanie and me talk about all manner of favorites, and for another 20 minutes (-ish) you'll hear me talking with our hilarious, brilliant friend Jamie Golden. As many of you know, Jamie co-hosts The Popcast and (new podcast alert!) The Bible Binge with Knox McCoy. Jamie is a delight and a joy and it was the biggest blast to get to ask her some questions and then laugh at her answers. Anyway, I know that was a whole lot of explanation, so all that to say: episode 96 is a little bit different - but it's a good different. Not a long-term different. Just a two-episode different (episode 97 will come out in a few days - just FYI). Enjoy, y'all! Here's where you can get more info on the stuff / products / places we mention: AG the legging ankle jeans Vigoss jeans Kut from the Kloth jeans (regular and plus) Democracy jeans (regular and plus) Cheez-It Cheddar Jack (interestingly enough, here’s an article that ranks all the Cheez-Its) Crunchmaster Gluten Free Crackers Artisan Nut Thins Triscuit Thin Crisps in Parmesan Garlic Superior Grill queso Mateo's Medium Salsa Southwestern Tossed Salad Captain Rodney's Dip Zella live in leggings (these are Melanie's hands-down favorites) Danskin NOW capri workout leggings (I think Walmart must be discontinuing them - most styles / sizes are out of stock) Lucy workout leggings (these, especially the Power Core, are Sophie's hands-down favorites) Nike Air Zoom Pegasus Brooks Revel running shoes Brooks Ghost 10 running shoes The Popcast The Bible Binge The Popcast Live Show in Dallas (Melanie will be there) The Popcast Live Show in Birmingham (Sophie will be there) Black Panther Closing Song Melanie on Instagram Sophie on Instagram Jamie Golden on Instagram

I'm so excited for y'all to meet Carrie Wilson. I learned about Carrie and her ministry to women who have been diagnosed with STDs when I heard her on Jamie Ivey's podcast interview with Jamie Golden. Carries is passionate about create safe spaces for women who struggle with sexual shame in the church, specifically those who have been diagnosed with an STD. She knows that isolation and shame well, not too long ago, Carrie was diagnosed with HSV 2 and if it were not for loving leaders in the church coming alongside her she wouldn't have been able to find joy and purpose even after her rock bottom moment. What's subversive about her joy is that historically, the church has not been a safe and kind place who have sexual pasts but Carrie listens to God's call to change that on her church campus, she created "New" a small group for women in her church to find the joy of authentic and kind community. I just love our conversation and can't wait for you to listen. What we talk about: Shame in the church The prayer campaign that started it all The value of a strong support system. Go say "hey" to Carrie online on Facebook (this is her personal page, so make sure you message her before friend-ing her) on Instagram Podcast News: This month all our episodes will be around the theme "we will choose subversive joy".
