In today's rerun episode of Let's Talk Business, we're excited to bring back an insightful conversation focusing on the significance of systems and processes in scaling a business. Join your host, Meny Hoffman, as he sits down with Chris Ronzio, the founder and CEO of Trainual, a SaaS platform dedicated to small business onboarding, training, and scaling. Chris started his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 14 with a video production company, learning valuable lessons about business processes early on. Now, as the author of "The Business Playbook" and the host of his own podcasts, Chris shares his expertise on the importance of proper systems, processes, and delegation for business growth. In this episode, Chris explains how Trainual, which has grown to 81 employees in just four years, uses detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to manage its rapid growth and ensure consistency. He discusses why managing growth can often be more challenging than achieving it, due to the necessity of clear processes and effective delegation. Chris shares valuable insights on the entrepreneurial journey, moving from performing all tasks alone to efficiently using tools and collaborating with team members. He highlights the complexity of managing team dynamics and the importance of creating long-term value and structure over getting stuck in everyday tasks. Additionally, Chris emphasizes the power of delegation, outlining the differences between delegating tasks and delegating responsibilities. He offers practical advice on creating effective SOPs, ensuring clear expectations, and training team members for better accountability 00:02:00 - Transitioned roles, built systems; founded Trainual later. 00:05:39 - Managing growth is harder than starting businesses. 00:09:11 - Entrepreneurs scale by delegating and focusing long-term. 00:10:15 - Leaders focus on unique, non-delegable tasks. 00:15:25 - Delegate responsibilities, not tasks; ensure comprehensive training. 00:19:49 - Onboarding confirms or ruins new employees' initial experience. 00:20:46 - Offer $5,000 for employees to quit early. 00:25:20 - Importance of context, timing, success, and steps. 00:28:42 - Business change frequency influenced by industry pace, hiring. 00:30:58 - Delegation crucial early; formalize roles with growth. Chris Ronzio is the founder and CEO of Trainual, a leading SaaS platform that transforms the way small businesses onboard, train and scale their teams. Show Notes with links:New tariffs go into effect today, as the Biden Administration targets Chinese-built EVs and other imports. The 100% tariff on Chinese EVs escalates trade tensions between the US and China and follows months of negotiation. The tariffs affect 14 categories of Chinese goods, including 50% on solar cells and 25% on key materials like steel, aluminum, and lithium-ion batteries.Tariffs on Chinese semiconductors are expected in 2025 and electronics such as laptops and cell phones are set for 2026.Chinese EVs only account for 2% of US EV imports.China has threatened retaliation, labeling the tariffs as “bullying” and escalating the global trade war.Automakers are ramping up their advertising spend during the NFL season after a few years of reduced activity. Brands like Toyota, Hyundai, and Detroit automakers are betting big on live sports, especially NFL games, to capture consumer attention.Automotive advertising increased by 17% over the last two NFL seasons and is expected to keep growing.Last NFL season, 44% of automotive ad spend on national TV was dedicated to NFL programming, compared to 31% across all sectors, according to Guideline.Toyota has become the “Official Automotive Partner of the NFL,” and GM plans to boost ad spending by $400 million in the second half of the year to promote new vehicle launches.NFL broadcasts garnered 17.9 million viewers on average last season, with the Super Bowl drawing 123.7 million.Toyota's Dedra DeLilli said, “The most appealing aspect of this partnership is we have access to 218 million highly diverse, highly engaged fans of the NFL.”MrBeast, YouTube's biggest star, is now making waves as a thought leader in the tech world. A leaked workplace guide by Jimmy Donaldson has caught the attention of Silicon Valley, sparking conversations on leadership, productivity, and intense work expectations. The 36-page guide emphasizes hiring "A-Players" who are obsessive, coachable, and the best in their field.Donaldson expects workers to be laser-focused, demanding radical accountability and a "no excuses" approach to their work. It's been compared to "founder mode," a hands-on management style popular in the tech industry. While some praise its intensity, others criticized it for promoting a grueling work culture.Investor Marc Cohen said, “It feels like it's written by a person rather than a corporation,”Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

2022 was my third year competing in the Trainual IRONMAN 70.3 Indian Wells – La Quinta, near Palm Springs, California. In the most recent race, I competed on a relay team as one of three teammates instead of doing the entire thing myself. This decision came from an epiphany I had, and that epiphany is the perfect metaphor for building your business. And more importantly, building the right team around yourself as the business owner. This episode's all about how to make your business investable. Troy is the managing director of MATH Venture Partners, which happens to be one of Trainual's investors. He sits on the Trainual board of directors and he's been a great friend, advisor and mentor for us over the last few years. So, we get into the story of how we built Trainual, how we met, and Troy's background before we ever intersected. He was a serial entrepreneur, one of the founders of Sure Payroll, which is the first online payroll company in the U.S. and he teaches entrepreneurship over at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Business. He's on the board of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center and the board of a bunch of other companies that he's invested in over the years. So, what I love about this episode, if you have ever considered raising money, raising venture capital for your business, this is the hour of content to listen to, or even less than an hour. We packed so much into this conversation about whether or not your business can grow at the trajectory to be investable, about what you should do to formulate your pitch and make sure you've got the right metrics to be investible by an investor, about the types of investors you should look for. Should they be active? Should they be passive? How frequently should we be checking in with these people? And then why would you raise money and what is it supposed to do in your business? So from start to finish, we talked about Troy's journey getting into investing, and then we broke down the details of how you can do this for your business. So, this is a great episode to share with anyone that's interested in raising money for their business, and if you are growing a company that could take investment, please listen to this. How long should it take to onboard and train a new employee until they reach full productivity? Well, it probably depends on who you ask. In fact, our 2023 State of Small Business Report found that High level leaders are 3x more likely to think that onboarding and training only takes a week compared to low level leaders. I think it's closer to 90 days. So how come there is such a disconnect? Some leaders say 1 week, while others say 30, 60, 90 plus days is more realistic. Let's dig into it in today's episode. Ep.#6 [THEME SIX] In order to turn your business into a machine that has sustainable, predictable, and transferable cash flow, you have to get your business out of your brain. I know–easier said than done. Most business owners don’t want to do the same thing twice, let alone sit down for long periods of time documenting their SOPs or writing out step-by-step how-to’s. That’s the problem today’s guest set out to fix. For the last episode of our equity growth miniseries, I speak with Chris Rozio, the founder and CEO of Trainual. Trainual is The Business Playbook–it helps you organize your chaos by systematizing onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer in a way that people will actually like and continue to use. Chris created Trainual to allow business owners to quickly take time out of their day to create, update, or share the playbook that runs their company. The best part–Chris and his team built a training system that wants you to spend less time…training. Chris started Trainual after successfully scaling and exiting his video production company. The idea behind Trainual started because Chris attributed a lot of the success behind his exit to the playbook he had for his business, which most people would argue couldn’t be scaled or sold–a video production company. His playbook allowed any new hire to come in and quickly carry out a successful client assignment, and he was able to show any potential buyer exactly how his company worked. The goal of a business playbook is to help you build a company that gives you the flexibility to reduce your hours, replace your leadership role, or exit the business when and how you please. // WATCH THE INTERVIEW ON YOUTUBE: Intentional Growth™ Podcast What You Will Learn What helps business owners turn the repeatable day-to-day tasks of their business into a how-to playbook. How Trainual can help business owners transform their business into a financial asset. How creating processes and procedures will help you exit your role OR ownership. The four sections a company is divided into when it comes to making a playbook. The first steps to creating your business’s playbook. Why you don’t need to know everything about your business when you start with processes–and how you can create the cadence of documenting everything. How to balance taking the time to design the systems versus executing them. How Chris creates his goals and puts them into action. Real-life sto
