Episode One Hundred and Thirty-One: The Last Thing Mary Saw (2021)The wheel was merciful this time. Independent horror is a generous well. Our only real downside is that Frye really doesn't like horror and it's up to Russ to drag him along, kicking and screaming. Our setting is upstate New York in 1843 and our theme is witchcraft. This is all feeling very familiar. Pun intended.  Also James decided to record his audio with a megaphone this time. It's good that his brand-new fancy water-rig sounds like being waterboarded. Apologies. Logo design by: https://www.fiverr.com/ideahitsIntro voiceover by: https://www.youtube.com/kevincrockerheyjameswatchthis@gmail.comFollow us @heyjameswatch

This week Mike, Rich and Steve tackle four new releases.... THE LAST THING MARY SAW is the latest film from Shudder to hit DVD, and is a gothic period drama involving  stern religious family and a sapphic relationship. WOLVES OF WAR is the latest film from director Giles Anderson, who has impressed us with his previous films The Dare and The Stranger In My Bed. Here he is tackling a "boys Own" adventure movie involving scientists and nazis... SHAPELESS is a strange film in which a woman's eating disorder may be turning her into some form of monster. Is the transformation real, or metaphorical? Take a watch to decide! STRAWBERRY MANSION is, hands down, the most bizarre film we've seen this year, but does it make any sense and does it provide any entertainment value? Check out our review to hear our verdict! Our Short Shot is RED - you MUST watch this. Finally, our DTV throwback is the horror fakumentary, BUTTERFLY KISSES. I have to admit I love this particular version of the found footage format, so how does it stand up? (Bizarrely, i can't find a trailer for this. Huh...) Follow the Short Shots TWITTER page, where we will be linking to a short film every day!  Don't forget to also check out our main show, the DTV DIGEST on TWITTER and FACEBOOK!

Little hand says it's time to rock and roll. Come party with us as we kick out the jams of another brand new episode. First things first, we have an important announcement about this year's Grave Plot Film Fest. We then talk about some Real World Horror about a mysterious cattle mutilation in Argentina. Speaking of livestock, we move on to discuss a new spin-off of a popular franchise from the director behind Pig. We then examine Dario Argento's return to the giallo genre, an SNL member heading into horror, and a brand new monster from Shudder. We close out Horror Business with Hulu turning Bite Size Halloween into full size goodness. For our film reviews, we deliberate over the new... sigh... requel of the Scream franchise, titled... Scream. And yeah, we talk about it. We also analyze the new Shudder period piece The Last Thing Mary Saw, about a young couple ostracized by a puritanical family. Hilarity ensues. So jump in the pit and rage.

Episode 124 of The Movie Robcast delves deep into the dark heart of FrightFest 2021. The UK's biggest horror film festival was back in the cinema this August Bank Holiday weekend, with a gorenucopia of sinister cinematic treats to entertain fans. In this in-depth review of the festival you will hear intros to various movies, plus the opening festival speech from horror authority Mark Kermode. At 22.15 Richard Waters and Alison Scarff discuss their movie Bring Out the Fear, one of Rob Daniel's Top 10 films at the festival this year. Another Top 10 favourite was When the Screaming Starts, and you can hear from the makers of that movie at 39.30. Also joining Rob D on the episode is horror journalist Lucy Buglass, who was good enough to talk FrightFest on the Bank Holiday Monday, and then return for a follow-up chat a few days later. Lucy appears at 45.28 and 58.23. Films reviewed in this episode include The Last Thing Mary Saw, The Advent Calendar, Evie, The Sadness, Sound of Violence, Bring Out the Fear, When the Screaming Starts, The Found Footage Phenomenon, No Man of God and more.
