Sarah is back from Mexico, and she has tales to tell! It was a White Lotus scenario with a little jellyfish run-in on the side. Susie watched The Stringer documentary about the Napalm Girl Pulitzer Prize winning photograph, and the recent controversy about who took the picture. We learn about a 30 year study on the language used in obituaries, and what it can teach us about societal values, what matters to us, and what influences changes over time. We discuss a theft of a Fabergé egg and the unusual means the thief used to take it.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Head to https://airdoctorpro.com and use promo code CANDY to get UP TO $300 off today!Cancel your unwanted subscriptions and reach your financial goals faster at https://rocketmoney.com/braincandy today.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This is not a show I ever planned to do. In all my years of podcasting, I've never felt compelled to look back and take stock of where we've been. But twenty twenty-four and twenty twenty-five have been different. These years have been brutal for our community, and I couldn't stay silent any longer. We lost giants. Real giants. Men who shaped the very foundation of modern Sasquatch research and carried the torch forward into the twenty-first century. Tonight, I'm setting aside whatever differences might have existed to honor what they gave us and acknowledge that we've lost some truly important figures.Doctor Jeff Meldrum passed away in September of twenty twenty-five after a brief battle with brain cancer. He was sixty-seven years old. The full professor of anatomy and anthropology at Idaho State University gave our community something precious: legitimacy. With his collection of over three hundred footprint casts and his landmark book Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, he picked up where Grover Krantz left off and continued the tradition of academic rigor in a field that desperately needed it.I had the privilege of sitting down with Jeff just a few weeks before he passed, and that conversation will stay with me forever.Henry Franzoni died on August twenty-second, twenty twenty-four, also at sixty-seven. If Meldrum brought scientific credibility to Bigfoot research, Henry brought the internet. Back in nineteen ninety-three, he created the first Bigfoot website and the first online discussion group, the Internet Virtual Bigfoot Conference. From that foundation grew pretty much every Bigfoot organization and website you see today. I interviewed Henry about a year before he passed, and afterward he sent me a signed copy of his book, Failing in a Cooler Way: Why I Never Found Bigfoot. That title tells you everything you need to know about who Henry was as a person.Steven Streufert, owner of Bigfoot Books in Willow Creek, California, is also gone now. Steven was an institution, a historian and scholar who knew the stories, the players, and the timeline of how this phenomenon evolved from local legend to international sensation. He was a key member of the Bluff Creek Project, the team that rediscovered the exact location where Patterson and Gimlin filmed their famous footage in nineteen sixty-seven. Steven and I had our public disagreements in his Facebook group, but that's what a community of researchers should look like. We can all have our opinions and still show mutual respect for one another.Beyond the deaths, we lost places too. The Bigfoot Discovery Museum in Felton, California, closed its doors after twenty years. And in December of twenty twenty-four, two men from Portland died from exposure in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest while searching for Sasquatch on Christmas Eve.I explore the legacies of these three researchers, discuss the current state of Sasquatch research, examine the Patterson-Gimlin film at fifty-seven years, address what the skeptics say, talk about the nearly one thousand witnesses I've interviewed over almost forty years, and reflect on the lessons we can learn from the men we lost. I also share a word about safety for anyone venturing into the wilderness in pursuit of this mystery. The disagreements don't matter. The bickering doesn't matter. What matters is the work. What matters is the pursuit. These men spent their lives investigating something that most of society considers a joke, and they did it because they believed the truth was worth pursuing. Their torches have been passed. We'll do our best to carry them forward.Leave Brian A Voicemail Get Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteSupport Our SponsorsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.
No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims”. - “Kings of Metal” hedder årets album fra Manowar. When a mangled car is found slammed into an industrial building in a Cleveland suburb, it leaves two young men dead and their 17-year-old friend, Mackenzie Shirilla, as the only survivor. As investigators dig in, they uncover chilling speed data, strange social media posts, a history of threats, and a hospital interview where Mackenzie literally tries to speak in code, all of which leave investigators wondering - was this a one-car-accident? Hello to you listening wherever your feet touch the ground.Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (& a bit more) for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga.Maybe like me you see us careening to the end of 2025 and wondering WTF how we've been living and what, if anything can we change for the better? The following several paragraphs entitled, A Few Final Thoughts, are excerpted from Warren Buffet's Final Shareholder Letter dated 10th November 2025. Click HERE to access the entire letter published as a pdf on the Berkshire Hathaway website.“One perhaps self-serving observation. I'm happy to say I feel better about the second half of my life than the first. My advice: Don't beat yourself up over past mistakes – learn at least a little from them and move on. It is never too late to improve. Get the right heroes and copy them.Remember Alfred Nobel, later of Nobel Prize fame, who – reportedly – read his own obituary that was mistakenly printed when his brother died and a newspaper got mixed up. He was horrified at what he read and realized he should change his behavior.Don't count on a newsroom mix-up: Decide what you would like your obituary to say and live the life to deserve it.Greatness does not come about through accumulating great amounts of money, great amounts of publicity or great power in government. When you help someone in any of thousands of ways, you help the world. Kindness is costless but also priceless. Whether you are religious or not, it's hard to beat The Golden Rule as a guide to behavior.I write this as one who has been thoughtless countless times and made many mistakes but also became very lucky in learning from some wonderful friends how to behave better (still a long way from perfect, however). Keep in mind that the cleaning lady is as much a human being as the Chairman.Prompt: What do you make of the notion that greatness is defined not by wealth or power, but by the kindness and help we offer to others in everyday situations? Can you share a personal story that illustrates a moment when you realized a need for change in your behavior, similar to Alfred Nobel's realizations after reading his premature obituary? What helps you live each day in a way that aligns with the values and legacy you'd wish to be remembered for?”A Few Final Thoughts is excerpted from Final Shareholder Letter by Warren Buffet dated 11-10-25You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Jessica Fuentes and Nicholas Frank discuss the art of writing obituaries for Glasstire and the generational shifts we are witnessing as young leaders step into new roles across Texas. “Rainy Knudson, the founder of Glasstire, told me, ‘I think that when we lose somebody in an art community, it's just a passage to the next generation. In the larger sense, the more of these you experience, the more you really see the continuum over generations; and how each of us plays our role during some section of that continuum.'” See related readings here: https://glasstire.com/2025/11/28/art-dirt-obituaries-and-generational-shifts If you enjoy Glasstire and would like to support our work, please consider donating. On July 13, 2012, 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins vanished while riding bikes in Evansdale, Iowa; their bikes and Elizabeth's purse were found hours later at Meyers Lake. Five months later, their remains were discovered 25 miles away in the secluded, locals-only Seven Bridges Wildlife Area, and both deaths were ruled homicides (specific trauma details still sealed). After registered sex offender Michael Klunder abducted and murdered 15-year-old Kathlynn Shepard in 2013 (using a daylight “job offer” ruse similar to the Evansdale case) and then killed himself, he became the prime suspect: he had a prior double toddler abduction, had been released from prison only months before the girls disappeared, and had ties near the body-dump site. Despite striking parallels and claims from prison acquaintances that they saw Klunder in Evansdale, authorities ruled him out in 2013–2014, citing undisclosed evidence placing him at work or home during the abduction window. The case remains unsolved in 2025, with the FBI profiling a single local offender familiar with both sites, new DNA testing underway, and a combined $200,000 reward still active. We're all going to die. Yeah, morbid, we know. What will your obituary say about you? In today's episode, host Travis Shelton talks about the exercise of writing our own obituary. What do we want to be remembered for? What impact do we want to make on this world? How do we want the end of the story to read? Then, once we do that, we reverse engineer it; work our way backwards to fill in the gaps between today and when that obituary will be published. Yes, it's weird. But also, yes, it can be an impactful exercise to get to the core of what we're on this planet to do……then actually do it.
