The Spiraling Higher podcast has been an incredible addition to my life. From the moment I started listening to my first episode, I felt a sense of joy and understanding that I had been searching for. This podcast has become my go-to source of inspiration and support, especially during challenging times. Sam and Gina's conversations leave me feeling uplifted and in a higher vibrational state, making my day or week significantly better. Their ability to make complex spiritual concepts clear and relatable is truly remarkable.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is the genuine connection that Sam and Gina have with their audience. Listening to them feels like sitting down with two high vibe friends who always cheer you up and make you feel seen. Their knowledge and wisdom are shared in such a relatable way that resonates deeply with listeners. They have created a supportive community where everyone feels loved and understood.

Another standout aspect of this podcast is the practicality of the information shared. Sam, in particular, does an excellent job of explaining spiritual ideas on a level that anyone can understand. The advice they offer is not only insightful but also applicable to everyday life. It's refreshing to hear conversations about manifestation, energy, spirituality, and more that are both enlightening and actionable.

In terms of drawbacks, there are moments where it feels like Sam and Gina could let their guests speak more instead of dominating the conversation themselves. While their insights are valuable, giving more space for guest voices could enhance the variety and depth of perspectives offered on the show.

In conclusion, The Spiraling Higher podcast is a game-changer in the world of personal growth and spirituality podcasts. It has brought light into my life during difficult times and provided me with guidance on my journey towards healing and self-discovery. Sam and Gina's authenticity, relatability, and practical approach make this podcast stand out among countless others in its genre. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking inspiration, support, and a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

People pleasing, or authenticity suppression as we like to call it, is a natural adaptive mechanism humans have used for centuries to attain approval, acceptance, and ultimately, safety. While in conscious, small doses this social mirroring can help us feel connected and related to others, it can also begin to erase our sense of self and our confidence if used too much.People pleasing is not just constantly saying 'yes' or overextending yourself...it also exists in more subtle, hidden ways that are often internalized. Perhaps it's the way you lie about your favorite music to seem more agreeable or refuse to pick a place to eat in the feared event that someone else disagrees with you. It's not always in your behaviors but often found in your unclaimed truths. In this episode, we talk about the ways you might still be people pleasing without even realizing it. By listening to this conversation, you will become aware of the sneaky ways your unconscious might still be placing others' approval before your own self respect and values.--Join us in June 2025 for the annual Spiraling Higher Retreat.https://shorturl.at/Yyln9Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!):https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityWE FINALLY MADE MERCH! We are throwing it back to the incredible in-person conversation we had with Danielle LaPorte, where we explored a question so many of us face on our healing journey: When is enough, enough? It's easy to get caught in the cycle of endless self-improvement, feeling like there's always more to fix, heal, or grow upon. But what if the things that are meant to help us are actually keeping us stuck? Danielle shares her experience of filling her schedule with astrology readings, therapy sessions, and shamanic healings, only to realize that more work wasn't the answer. The answer was love. She realized that we often chase healing like it's a finish line, believing that if we just do enough inner work, we'll finally feel whole. But what if true healing isn't about more effort, but about surrender? In this episode, Danielle invites us to shift from self-improvement to self-acceptance, offering a perspective that is both radical and freeing.A member of Oprah's SuperSoul 100 and the author of How to Be Loving, Danielle's wisdom is both grounded and transformative. If you've ever felt exhausted from “doing the work,” this conversation will be a breath of fresh air.Episode Highlights:-The real purpose of the ego and why we shouldn't try to kill it-Why Danielle stopped going to therapy-How to tell if you're acting from your wounded self vs. healed self-The shift from reacting to the mind to living from the heartTHE WAIT IS OVER! Have you ever wondered, "How do I actually love myself?" or "Why don't I love myself?"We get this question ALL the time, and we knew it deserved its own episode because hidden within this seemingly innocent inquiry is one of the biggest blocks to true self-love. The very way we ask the question can make self-love feel like a destination—or something we either have or don't—when in reality, self-love is not a static state of being but a lifelong practice.Self-love isn't about reaching a permanent state of happiness, confidence, or unshakable worthiness. It is not about feeling good all the time or never struggling with doubt again. Instead, it's about cultivating an ongoing, compassionate relationship with yourself—one where you meet yourself with kindness even when you feel unworthy, show up for yourself even when you're struggling, and commit to loving yourself not just on your best days, but especially on the hardest ones too.So in this episode, we break down the illusory myths about self-love to explore what it ACTUALLY looks like in everyday life, and share the mindset shifts that make love for yourself feel not just possible, but natural and maybe even already present within you.THE WAIT IS OVER! We're all about healing and becoming self-aware of your limiting patterns here on the Spiraling Higher podcast...but not ALL self-awareness needs to be so serious or in service to fixing parts of yourself that you deem problematic. Self-awareness also includes knowing and appreciating all of the AMAZING, fun, delightful parts of yourself too! It's easy to forget how many incredibly awesome things there are to know and love about ourselves when we are constantly being bombarded with ways to "fix" or improve ourselves. We wanted this episode to be a reflection of the fact that healing can also be light by taking the opportunity to share the beautiful things we love about each other. Our loved ones can sometimes see us more clearly than we can see our own selves because they see us through the eyes of love, as opposed to our own judgmental eyes. Sometimes all we can see in ourselves is darkness when the truth is that we are far more than our patterns. This fun conversation seeks to remind you that you are bigger than the patterns you've become aware of and that your self-awareness is incomplete if it does not include wonderfully positive things about yourself. We hope you will try the fun exercise we did on yourself or with a loved one! Unfortunately, these two types of people often attract each other...and without proper awareness or the development of regulation skills, these two people will harm each other over and over until there is no longer a sense of closeness or intimacy anymore. What's sad about this dynamic is that both people DO care, and ultimately desire closeness, but what actions make each of them feel emotionally safe in the relationship are different. Learning the difference between these needs, their origins, and how to appreciate them without self-abandoning is the key to creating a healthier dynamic that can repair fully after typical ruptures, which even secure attached couples experience!Whether you're familiar with attachment theory already or not, this conversation reveals the secret ingredient for creating secure attachment and is going to help you identify which attachment style you may have AND how to heal it instead of projecting your needs and insecurities onto your partner. With the holidays upon us, along with their manufactured capitalist joys, are you starting to feel stressed about the year coming to a close? Maybe you're beginning to feel behind as you reflect on the goals you set for 2024?Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/GrVUms7-fMAThis conversation was inspired by our own personal experiences of feeling panicked when previous years came to an end. They often brought up a lot of self-judgment related to our yearly expectations and goals. Instead of truly celebrating, resting, or expressing gratitude and joy, we'd get stuck in spirals of resistance about how the year hadn't met our expectations—or we'd project our fears onto the upcoming year.Rather than rejoicing in all that we had done throughout the year, December became a sort of "Judgment Day," where we'd review our shortcomings and inevitably end up setting extremely high standards for the new year. This, of course, creates stress and distracts us from the present, because we're so busy thinking about what could have been or what should be next year, that we can't even be here- now. This conversation will be a healing balm for anyone who struggles to be present during the holidays without incessant stress and self-judgment. It will empower you to initiate a sense of renewal in any given moment, rather than waiting for a future day to bring that to you. This episode is for you if:-You experience the end of the year with stress, panic, and self-judgment-You tend to set New Year's resolutions only to end up disappointed in yourself weeks or months later-You can't fully rest or enjoy yourself during the holidays because you're already thinking about how to tackle 2025--Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!):https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityJoin our retreat waitlist for APRIL 2025 by signing up here:https://shorturl.at/fojjyHeal your money wound & manifest abundance in Sam's newest course 'Abundantly Ever After:'https://simplifyingsam.kartra.com/page/AbundantlyEverAfter--Apply for 1:1 coaching with Sam:https://www.simplifyingsam.com/1on1coachingApply for 1:1 coaching with Gina:https://tinyurl.com/1on1coachingbteFollow Spiraling Higher:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/spiralinghigherFollow Simplifying Sam:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@simplifying.samInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/simplifying.samFollow Gina:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@ginabourneInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/ginabourneFor all inquiries, email us at:Spiralinghigher@gmail.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

    87. Intentions vs. Expectations: The Dramatic Difference

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 14, 2024 43:09

What is the difference between intentions and expectations? Well, we wish we knew before we created a LOT of internal suffering for ourselves! But today, we have a chat about living intentionally versus expectantly and how to feel for the difference along with some tell-tale signs of which paradigm you're operating from. Before we discovered and integrated the Laws of Attraction and Assumption, we gripped SO tightly to our expectations. We had a laundry list of conditions that absolutely had to met in order to just feel “okay.” If any one of these conditions or expectations were not met, we would be wrecked with disappointment, self blame and guilt. It was a nasty cycle. Every time that disappointment would hit, we would just repeat the cycle again by becoming attached to a new expectation that would hopefully save us from the pain of the previous disappointment. After suffering in this cycle for years, we realized there was another way to live - a life that actually didn't need expectations at all. We switched our expectations to intentions - self made promises that we could uphold in the present moment no matter what the conditions were……and it changed everything. If you are someone who struggles with disappointment, maybe even refuses to set big goals or go after what they want, this episode for you. Don't forget to drop into the free community afterward to tell us what expectations you have traded in for your powerful intentions, and how that's shifted things for you! --Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!):https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityJoin our retreat waitlist for APRIL 2025 by signing up here:https://shorturl.at/fojjyHeal your money wound & manifest abundance in Sam's newest course 'Abundantly Ever After:' https://simplifyingsam.kartra.com/page/AbundantlyEverAfter-- Apply for 1:1 coaching with Sam:https://www.simplifyingsam.com/1on1coachingApply for 1:1 coaching with Gina:https://tinyurl.com/1on1coachingbteFollow Spiraling Higher:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/spiralinghigherFollow Simplifying Sam:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@simplifying.samInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/simplifying.samFollow Gina:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@ginabourneInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/ginabourneFor all inquiries, email us at:Spiralinghigher@gmail.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

    86. Flynn Skidmore: Generational Healing + The Fear of Not Reaching Your Potential

Spiralers...what a TREAT!!! We had the lovely Flynn Skidmore join us to have a deeply healing and grounding conversation that soothed generational wounds, the superiority vs. inferiority complex, and the resistance to acceptance. If you are not already familiar with Flynn, he is someone who has been fascinated by the unconscious from an early age which led him to his previous practice as a therapist with extensive training in Internal Family Systems, Neuro Linguistic Programming, and Somatic Experiencing. His primary intention for clients all around the world is to accelerate evolution. By diving deeply into the wounds, friction, and patterning that prevent us from creating momentum, he offers an uncanny ability to bring warmth to the parts of us that we perceive as darkness - freeing up energy to become more creative and loving.Because Sam personally knows and has worked with Flynn, this conversation felt like 3 friends exploring their parallel perspectives on generational wounds, feeling unseen by a parent, meeting your ego, and how to truly grow and get what you desire from your relationships. Gina shares her own vulnerable experience of feeling unseen by her mother and the impact it has had on her, while Flynn offers a liberating perspective on healing that is counter to what many healers offer these days.Through this conversation, we all get to be deeply vulnerable and transparent about the ways in which we derived value and self-importance in our lives and the underlying fears and desires behind those behaviors (shadow work!)But perhaps the most compelling element of this conversation was Flynn's approach to the terrifying fear, "What if I don't reach my potential?" and "Why won't the other person change?" His perspective and emphasis on personal responsibility and independence is a paradigm shift and he offers his very own co-creation framework: shared vision, capacity to execute, rate of execution, and satisfaction with rate of execution. Flynn also explains that relational satisfaction comes down to aligning visions and having satisfactory rates of execution with respect to that very vision in relationships. He also explores the themes of frustration and dissatisfaction in relationship and identifies how you can overcome these. If you're still reading these, trust me...this one's good. It's soul food for the human who is actively doing the inner work and by the end of this episode, you will better understand the behaviors that inform our false sense of superiority or value and the transformative powers of acceptance, curiosity and personal responsibility.Timestamps:00:00 Feeling Unseen in Parent-Child Relationships03:35 Healing Generational Wounds13:54 How the Ego Derives Value and Self-Importance25:21 The Power of Curiosity and Compassion26:04 Healing and Transforming Unconscious Wounds28:17 Recycling Painful Patterns and Repurposing Traits29:32 Moving Towards a Different Fuel Source30:35 Tapping into Trust and Overcoming Fear31:36 The Process of Letting Go and Opening Up33:15 Understanding Fear as a Motivator for Achievement34:30 The Transition from Fear to Warmth and Compassion37:14 The Process of Transformation and Letting Go39:35 The Co-Creation Framework for Fulfilling Relationships41:05 Taking Personal Agency in Unaligned Situations45:46 Aligning Visions and Pace of Execution in Relationships49:22 Navigating Different Rates of Evolution52:28 The Power of Acceptance56:10 Energetic Abundance and Supporting Others' Evolution--Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!)https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityHeal your money wound & manifest abundance in Sam's newest course 'Abundantly Ever After:'https://simplifyingsam.kartra.com/page/AbundantlyEverAfter--Apply for 1:1 coaching with Sam:https://www.simplifyingsam.com/1on1coachingApply for 1:1 coaching with Gina:https://tinyurl.com/1on1coachingbteFollow Spiraling Higher:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/spiralinghigherFollow Simplifying Sam:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@simplifying.samInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/simplifying.samFollow Gina:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@ginabourneInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/ginabourneFor all inquiries, email us at:Spiralinghigher@gmail.com--Follow Flynn on IG:https://www.instagram.com/flynnskidmore/?hl=enAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

Spiralers, we're calling you (and ourselves!) out. It's time to become aware of and heal our attachment to the far too common "ALL OR NOTHING" paradigm - where you are either going full throttle, pedal to the metal, or completely exhausted and avoiding things all together.Listen to this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/JiOsgMl1FYMFor years we both struggled with the constant physical and emotional pendulum swing from wild action to inaction, unable to find a healthy and sustainable balance from which to pursue our desires. We were always either going for it and simulatenously sacrificing our own needs or we were too afraid or burnt out to take any action at all.If this sounds familiar to you, you are likely stuck in BLACK + WHITE thinking. It's the tendency to see, and act, in extremes. Either it's all good or ALL bad. Although this type of thinking might feel normal to you, as it once did for us, it's actually a cognitive distortion. If you were to read about it on Wikipedia, it would say that binary thinking, black-and-white thinking, all-or-nothing thinking, or thinking in extremes is "the failure in a person's thinking to bring together the dichotomy of both perceived positive and negative qualities of something into a cohesive, realistic whole. It is a common defense mechanism wherein the individual tends to think in extremes with no middle ground."Here on the Spiraling Higher Podcast, we have been abundantly clear that our BELIEFS shape our reality. So, consider this...if our beliefs are distorted to see things in an all or nothing fashion...how will that shape our experience of life? In our experience, it led to extreme highs and sometime even lower lows. We realized eventually that our thinking was playing a role in the creation of our inner roller coaster and we feel so honored to be sharing those lessons today from the heart.Highlights:-Discover how perfectionism seeps into our daily routines, amplifying feelings of guilt and pressure.-Uncover the constraints of all-or-nothing thinking and how it limits our personal freedom.-Explore the empowering journey of challenging societal norms as a route to genuine self-acceptance.-Hear the truth behind New Year's resolutions and the reasons they fall flat.-Learn the vital balance between flexibility and rigidity in goal-setting for healthier well-being.-Understand how perfectionistic beliefs can cast a shadow over parenting, affecting both parents and children.-Explore the powerful connection between self-punishment and all-or-nothing thinking, and discover effective strategies to break free from this cycle for a healthier, more balanced mindset.Timestamps:03:12 Breaking Free from Perfectionism06:04 The All or Nothing Mentality08:50 Exploring The Relationship to Food + Connection to All or Nothing12:03 The Journey to Intuitive Living14:56 Challenging Self-Worth and Value18:08 The Impact of New Year's Resolutions21:02 Redefining Success and Acceptance24:12 Parenting and Perfectionism31:06 Understanding All or Nothing Thinking36:03 The Impact of Self-Punishment41:51 Challenging Perfectionism and Self-Acceptance49:08 The Illusion of Forever56:25 Embracing the Journey of Self-DiscoveryAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

As our clients are often coming off of the adrenaline-powered hustle and fear-driven pursuit of "success," they find themselves VERY tired.Watch this episode on Youtube:https://youtu.be/Fyd1QacB2yUTaking breaks, slowing down, and adjusting their expectations can be an awkward, even stressful, process coming from such a high-paced background that was tied to their sense of self-worth. Taking these necessary adjustments can bring up thoughts and feelings like..."Am I being lazy?""Should I be working harder?""Am I being too easy on myself?""What is going to happen to me if I slow down?""What if I become a couch potato??!"These fears are the ego's work - an attempt to keep you in fear and scarcity. However, we do see people who use rest as an excuse far past the point of revival and rejuvenation. How do you know you're one of them? We know this title makes it sound like this is going to be a boring episode about accountability...but we think a lot of you will be very surprised to learn what true accountability is AND that you probably don't know how to take accountability at all. What most people know how to do is BLAME themselves for every seemingly wrong or bad situation, which doesn't actually address the behavior or actions in question.Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/cNj8sJzA7PgThis episode was deeply inspired by our current and past coaching clients who all share a common pattern of what we call "Turning against yourself." You might be familiar with this. When a mistake is made, a detail is missed, or a someone gets upset...you automatically blame yourself. This sounds like:"I'm such a bad friend""I'm such an idiot""I'm not good enough""I don't even deserve this opportunity""I can't do anything right""I always mess things up""I'm such a terrible mother/wife/friend""I never do anything right"If you suffer from hearing these kind of thoughts on a daily basis, like so many women do, this episode is going to be an eye-opener for you! 77. Kate Speer: There Is No Shame In Mental Illness

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 24, 2024 75:25

Mental Health activist, writer, and speaker Kate Speer authentically shares her mental health journey from feeling different as a child to being diagnosed with ADHD and later a misdiagnosed bipolar disorder. Feeling unsupported from such a young age by the education system due to limiting criteria for diagnosis as well as the stigmas surrounding mental illness, Kate experienced a myriad of symptoms.*Trigger Warning* : This episode discusses suicide and psychosis. These mentions are authentic to the storyteller. After experiencing 15 years of disabling mental illness, chronic psychotic breaks, enumerable psychiatric hospitalizations, and a suicide attempt, Kate was told by doctors that the only way she would survive was to live in a long-term, locked psychiatric ward. Kate, stubborn to her core and no stranger to defying the expectations of her care team, told them to go to hell. She refused to give up. She met with doctor after doctor, and even after being told that she needed residential care by all of them, she kept searching. In one last-ditch effort to not end up in a ward, she met with a trauma therapist known for his intense behavioral methodologies who told her that she was about to work the hardest she ever had in her life to overcome her patterns. Kate didn't think twice about it. She committed to the work and began the recovery of a lifetime. She worked relentlessly using disciplined exposure therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to tackle her OCD, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and PTSD. Day after day, Kate leaned into the discomfort of her fear and though terrified, she continued to do exactly what the doctor prescribed anyway.Despite everything Kate has faced, she is one of the strongest, kind, accepting humans we have ever known. Her journey with mental illness has helped her emphasize the importance of self-acceptance and contributes to her desire in creating a world where people can hold space for both pain and joy. One of our favorite parts of this conversation is how openly and radically she encourages embracing the messiness of life and rejecting the pressure to present a polished image, giving us an opportunity to share our collective thoughts on the negativity of social media. Now, nine years later, she is happy (ish!), married, and has transitioned into public mental health work after her five-year tenure as the CEO of The Dogist, where she scaled the company's audience to five million subscribers. She is currently working with Harvard to scale public health campaigns that help today's youth while finalizing her very first memoir. Her hope for the future is to use social media for good instead of the bottom line and scale academic-creator collaborations that reach young people online where they get their information. This is just the beginning of that work and though she is unsure of where exactly it will take her, one thing's for sure – even though her doctors were convinced that she would only survive in a locked ward, she proved them spectacularly wrong. If you have ever struggled with mental health, this conversation contains the most madly inspiring, radically humbling, and honest message for you at this time: Healing is absolutely possible, but it won't be perfect and it will happen little by little. 76. The MOST COMMON Limiting Beliefs We Hear + How To Work Through Them

As mindset coaches, we hear A LOT of limiting beliefs and narratives that have been picked up throughout one's life as a result of conditioning and past life experiences. Having coached hundreds of people between the two of us, we thought it would be helpful to share the MOST common limiting beliefs we help our clients work through.Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/eqx11cX_gfYTogether, we explore the belief that success requires hustle and sacrifice, the idea of being ready before taking action, and the tendency to blame oneself for past actions. We also chat about the ignorance of the present moment (and why that happens), valuing one's own experiences and perspectives, and accepting what has happened in order to move forward. If you are a human being living in a capitalist country, it would be almost impossible for you to have not picked up at least one of the mentioned beliefs! The good news is that these thoughts were learned, and therefore, can be superseded by new thoughts that are more supportive and aligned with the life you desire to live.If you've been feeling like you are hitting a wall on your journey, listening to this episode will help you identify the belief(s) that's standing in the way.Highlights:- How the belief that one has to work hard & suffer to have a good life and scarcity are linked- How the belief that one has to show up a certain way to make an impact or be accepted actually hinders your desire for connection and acceptance- The fearful illusion of "falling behind"- Re-defining "success"- Why waiting to be "ready" never works- Shifting away from punishment into acceptanceTimestamps:00:00 Introduction: Common Limiting Beliefs02:48 The Scarcity of the 'Good Life' and the Need to Work Hard11:18 Authenticity and Acceptance: Breaking the Cycle of Self-Rejection29:27 Rest: Embracing the Importance of You (the source!)35:00 Redefining Success: Creating Your Own Definition37:24 Taking Action Without Being 'Ready'45:11 Accepting What Has Happened56:54 Moving from Punishment to Acceptance–Doors are open for METAMORPHOSIS - Gina's 12 Week Group Coaching Mastermind for Asian Creative Entrepreneurs! Gina also got to ask about the role of the EGO / INNER CRITIC on our creative journeys, which so many of us suffer from and James's answer did not disappoint! The common thread throughout this conversation was that creativity exists naturally within all of us, although we can become disconnected from this effortless ability due to social pressures and expectations. Perfectionism isn't what most people think it is!!! It is not believing you are perfect or even trying to be perfect. It is the unconscious and fearful need to be perceived as someone who never gets anything wrong, never messes up, and always knows what they are doing. If you suffer from perfectionism, you are likely riddled with self doubt and believe that the doubt or unworthiness will dissolve when you become more skilled, more knowledgeable, more experienced…more SOMETHING! Perfectionism never allows yourself to be accepted in the now; it perpetually asks that you have to be something or do something before you can. Perfectionism is the antithesis of what we aim to foster on this podcast, which is SELF LOVE & ACCEPTANCE.Watch this episode on Youtube:https://youtu.be/7CpNQYYhIeQSo in this conversation, we break down the illusion of perfectionism by connecting back to its originating wound in addition to exploring its twin sister - PROCRASTINATION. Both perfectionism and its counterpart procrastination are driven by a fear of not meeting expectations…but who is setting the bar? Tune into this conversation if you're seeking to understand why you feel like you can never relax and always need to do more. Highlights:Perfectionism and the Self-Punishment paradigmHow perfectionism hinders your personal and spiritual growthWhy self-acceptance & true self-love require imperfectionThe ILLUSION of perfection (and it's negative impact on creativity)The relationship between social media and perfectionism Timestamps:00:00 Exploring Perfectionism05:10 Healing Perfectionism08:17 The Insidious Nature of Self-Punishment11:26 Accepting Imperfections26:05 The Illusion of Perfection28:52 Creating a Safe Space for Mistakes29:47 Perfectionism in Spirituality31:00 Self-Love and Acceptance36:39 Overcoming Perfectionism41:40 Perfectionism and Procrastination49:07 Starting Small and Embracing Imperfection55:01 Reevaluating Self-Worth and Acceptance–Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/7CpNQYYhIeQDoors are open for METAMORPHOSIS - Gina's 12 Week Group Coaching Mastermind for Asian Creative Entrepreneurs! There is a reason why we love to hear about how people fell to a rock bottom in their life and turned it all around. When we hear these stories, we see our own selves - our potential, our inner strength and limitless capacity to turn obstacles into opportunities. That's why today's conversation with Kristen Such, spiritual mentor & confidence coach, is going to be madly inspiring for you.If there is one phrase to perfectly describe Kristen's past year, it is...QUANTUM LEAP. When Sam met Kristen one year ago, she had just faced a dramatic break-up and fell to her absolute lowest. She had just left her corporate job the previous year and now felt like she had nothing to show for it. In her own words, she went from "miserable corporate girly, to broke (and heart-broken) entrepreneur, to now multiple six-figure coach!"In just one year, her energy and her life have completely transformed...what changed? Kristen owes it all to the inner work that her 'rock bottom' pushed her to do.What this conversation illuminated was that it wasn't despite these challenges that she learned how to heal and thrive again...it was BECAUSE of them. This heart-led discussion will move you to appreciate your own biggest challenges as the hidden gifts they really are - the portals to your ascension. Like us, Kristen wholeheartedly believes that you are always just one thought away from a completely different reality - and her life is the proof. If you are at a perceived rock bottom right now or feeling like you might be in your flop era, this episode is going to change the way you look at your reality for the better. This is also perfect for you if you have been wanting to better understand how to change your core beliefs and heal your inner child.Highlights:- What the SOUL wants vs. what the EGO wants- How to find security within yourself (the only security there is!)- How to actually heal your inner child- The Fear of Being Seen + What to do about it- Core beliefs + How they shape your reality (and how to change them!)- Why your business isn't growing- Kristen's approach to shadow work—Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!)https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityTry the SUPERHUMAN app free for 6 weeks with code 'SPIRALINGHIGHER':https://www.superhuman.app/register–Apply for 1:1 coaching with Sam:https://www.simplifyingsam.com/1on1coachingApply for 1:1 coaching with Gina:https://tinyurl.com/1on1coachingbteFollow Spiraling Higher:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/spiralinghigherFollow Simplifying Sam:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@simplifying.samInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/simplifying.samFollow Gina:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@ginabourneInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/ginabourneFor all inquiries, email us at:Spiralinghigher@gmail.com–Find Kristen:www.kristensuch.comIG- https://www.instagram.com/kristen.such/TikTok- https://www.tiktok.com/@kristen.such?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcBook mentioned on shadow work:https://amzn.to/3Xf7F1IAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

If meditation isn't your thing yet you still feel burnt out, behind, anxious and overworked...this conversation just might change your mind! When most of us think of meditation, we think we have to do it "right" by sitting cross legged, eyes closed, with a straight back and zen music in the background. But meditation is not experienced in this one limited way and is not a 'One Size Fits All' experience! Instead of writing off meditation all together, guest Ann Swanson suggests different meditations for varying situations, even beginning with just ONE minute. Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/iEGjDdTzLdEAnn Swanson is the author of the internationally bestselling book SCIENCE OF YOGA and Meditation for the Real World, which illuminates the fascinating science behind meditation with step-by-step practices to help you find peace in everyday life. But her journey of overcoming chronic pain and anxiety led her to India to study yoga, to China to explore tai chi, and eventually to earn a Master of Science in Yoga Therapy. Now, Ann blends cutting-edge research with ancient wisdom to bring you realistic techniques that you will feel inspired to practice whether it's for reducing anxiety or manifesting your dreams! Ann even explains how meditation quite literally changes your neural pathways, making it more likely to manifest your desires...which is exactly how she manifested her very first book deal with absolutely NO following or connections to the publishing world! Highlights:-How even one-minute meditations can make a difference-Breaking down the Harvard research explaining constant mind wandering + how our happiness may depend on the ability to pay attention to the present moment-Where science and tradition converge: groundbreaking research on gratitude and compassion practices that'll make you commit to practice-Why most fail at developing a consistent meditation practice + how to stick with it for a lifetime of benefits-How to use meditation for manifestation!Timestamps:00:00 The Science of Meditation: Impact on Brain and Body08:35 Journey from Skepticism to Embracing Meditation10:53 Meditation for Manifestation: The Power of Intention30:15 Navigating the Challenges of Meditation32:43 Understanding the Default Mode Network (Mind wandering!) 46:00 The Impact of Nature Sounds on Mental Health–Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/iEGjDdTzLdEJoin our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!)https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityTry the SUPERHUMAN app free for 6 weeks with code 'SPIRALINGHIGHER':https://www.superhuman.app/register--Apply for 1:1 coaching with Sam:https://www.simplifyingsam.com/1on1coachingApply for 1:1 coaching with Gina:https://tinyurl.com/1on1coachingbteFollow Spiraling Higher:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/spiralinghigherFollow Simplifying Sam:TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@simplifying.samInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/simplifying.samFollow Gina:TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@ginabourneInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/ginabourneFor all inquiries, email us at:Spiralinghigher@gmail.com--Find Ann + Order her book:MeditationForTheRealWorld.comFollow Ann:https://www.instagram.com/annswansonwellness/?hl=enAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

In this conversation, we actually get to experience it first-hand and if you are someone who never has time to breathe or meditate, this is one of the shortest AND most effective practices that we have both integrated into our lives.Michael also discusses the different levels of consciousness, the markers of each, and how our bodies physiologically change between each state. Most of us live and function from “safety consciousness,” which is characterized by anxiety, worry and doubt. Just by practicing the AWE method even once a day can help you access the benefits of the other states of consciousness - heart and spacious consciousness.By accessing the energetic state of awe in just a few short breaths, we can experience improved mental, emotional, and physical health. This dialogue allows you to consider that what you really desire from the external world is actually an altered internal state, which is available to you right in this moment.Highlights:-Awe is an emotional experience in which we sense being in the presence of something that transcends our normal perception of the world.-Awe has the power to lower inflammation, reduce depression and anxiety, and improve overall health. Accessing heart and awe consciousness can enhance our daily lives and improve our relationships, work, and overall well-being.-Shifting from safety consciousness to a state of awe and spaciousness can bring about positive changes in our lives.-Awe is contagious and can inspire awe in others when shared.-Awe is accessible in everyday experiences and can be practiced with the Awe Method.-Practicing awe can lead to a heightened shift in consciousness and contribute to positive change in the world.Timestamps:03:05 Discovering the A.W.E. 67. Toxic Relationships: How To Spot + What To Do

Play Episode Listen Later May 8, 2024 63:34

You asked, we delivered! We can't tell you how many times we've been asked what to do about toxic relationships and how to know if you're experiencing one. In this episode, we share our own personal definitions of "toxic" and it may or may not be what you think! While it seems easy to point out the toxicity in others' behavior, it's a lot harder to point it out within ourselves. So we took this opportunity to share our personal stories and explain that toxic behavior is a combination of characteristics (rather than a character flaw) that play out in relational dynamics, most easily distinguished by defensiveness, blame, and control.Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/D1H7r7KN6DIHowever, not every single person who displays this behavior is a "toxic" person if they are aware and willing to confront their own patterns and vulnerably express their needs. Because in reality, ALL humans can become defensive, point the finger and become controlling; but getting curious about those behaviors rather than blaming others for them is the antidote to the "toxicity" so many are used to. And the good news? Expressing curiosity and vulnerability are skills that can be learned in any relational dynamic that seeks to foster trust. That means that a relationship that has gone sideways can (with trust and emotional safety) be brought back to balance...but it's also how relationships you think that could never change, well, do.So if you are engaging in a "toxic" dynamic right now or know someone who is, this conversation will help you understand the root of that toxicity and the actionable solutions you can take responsibility for in an effort to create more connection and clarity in your personal relationships.–FINALLY! 66. Christopher Maher: Stress Management Is Not Enough (What To Do Instead)

WOOOOOO….Spiralers! This conversation WENT THERE. We were absolutely blown open by Christopher's inspiring journey and awareness. His insights took us to places in both our bodies and minds that we had never gone before and we know you are going to be mind blown, too.In this conversation, Christopher Maher shares his healing journey starting from his stint as a US Navy SEAL to today as a wellness pioneer. Chris explains how his intense military training and childhood trauma led to physical and emotional imbalances in his body that became impossible to ignore.Through his exploration of traditional Chinese medicine and other healing modalities, Chris began to understand the importance of listening to the body's messages and addressing the root causes of stress (and the years long accumulation of it). He emphasizes the need to move away from Western medicine for himself and embrace a holistic approach to healing that would not only manage stressors but resolve them.Christopher introduces us to his coined term “strauma,” which is the accumulation of stress over time that becomes trauma. Many of us don't think of trauma when we consider stress; we often think of horror-filled stories but “strauma” is a type of trauma every human in our society deals with. And while that is true, we are using daily stress management tools to address issues that began within the womb and even long before that with our ancestors. To address our lifetime accumulated stress, which lives in our bodies and therefore is experienced in our outer lives…Chris suggests that we must resolve stress at different levels of consciousness and use particular modalities to target the different bodies we all have: Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual. (Think of “body” in this sense as a collection of energy rather than your arms and legs!)In addition to learning about how stress over time can traumatize the body, you will also learn mind-tickling facts about resentment affects certain organs and determines our behaviour. So much of what Chris had to say truly blew our minds and we were able to connect back to a truth we already knew but on an even deeper level with respect to generational healing - That we are here to break the cycle and welcome a more conscious, loving world.Highlights:-The difference between stress management & stress resolutionHow stress not only impacts our bodies through daily stressors but can accumulate over time and turn into trauma, affecting every human on the planetResolving lifetime accumulated stress by addressing the different levels of consciousness and energetic bodies including the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodiesWhy we constantly project ourselves into the future and experience anxiety and racing thoughts-How emotions like resentment can be related to the receptive and blocked energies within our organ system- How our cells carry the resonance and data from our ancestors' trauma that is passed down through generations (AND how healing our own cells directly and spontaneously impacts the generations behind and ahead of us)Timestamps:00:00 Life Story and Background as a Navy SEAL05:22 The Connection Between Trauma and Physical Pain07:04 Exploring Traditional Chinese Medicine09:17 The Body's Truth + the Need for Pain13:34 Recognizing the Limitations of Western Medicine15:27 The Turning Point18:39 Connecting Stress and Pain Resolution22:20 Moving from Stress Management to Stress Resolution23:54 Negative and Positive Stress Management Tools25:01 The Accumulation of Stress over Time27:21 The Four Bodies and Their Storage of Stress31:11 The Orientation of Each Body to Time34:00 The Impact of Ancestral Trauma38:18 Becoming Present Through All Four Bodies40:08 The Transmission of Stress to Future Generations42:14 The Impact of Healing on Future Generations50:21 The Toxicity of Resentment52:26 Resources for Healing–FINALLY! Ah, decision fatigue…anxiety…worry…regret!!! All of these are commonly experienced emotions when it comes to finalizing a choice in our lives, whether that be to leave a relationship, change jobs, move cities, or even decide what to wear.Watch this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/9E48mFbhCZs?si=eCReZ-BPMzCeNOOaWe treat decisions as if they have the power to give us heaven or hell, and so we suspend ourselves in limbo racking our brains until we finally choose the “right” one, feeling guilt and doubt along the way. We ask our friends, parents, coworkers, and even our own PAST selves for advice…everyone except our own true selves in the present moment about what we truly want. But what if we told you making decisions didn't have to feel that way? What if making a decision was an opportunity to question your socialization AND own your truth. In this radically honest conversation, we share some of the hardest decisions we have had to make, including Gina's 3 year long dilemma to not have another baby along with the mental framework that we applied to help us experience more clarity, ease and trust in making those choices. We share candidly how hard it used to be to make decisions because of what we used to make certain decisions mean about ourselves:“If I do X, then they'll judge me.”“If I don't do X, then I'll feel guilty.”Unfortunately, most of are trying to make decisions that will help us avoid emotional pain and if that's our criteria for decision making…we might end up making choices that don't serve us in the long run. By the end of this conversation, you will have a better understanding of what holds you back from making decisions and how to know if you're making the “right” one for you.Highlights:-Having to make decisions is an opportunity to question what assumptions you're making about the outcomes of such decision-Gina shares her journey around the ultimate decision to not have a second baby (this will be helpful even if you don't have children or already have more than one!)-How to know if making the decision to leave a relationship or career will serve you-Sam and Gina both share the decision and thought process preceding their decision to leave their real estate careers and go ALL IN-Questioning the paradigm that creates a bind where we are trying to make decisions that will somehow be completely painless--FINALLY! For the very first time on the Spiraling Higher Pod, we invited a guest to come back for round 2! Laurie Anne Briere, a practitioner, Transforming Touch therapist and breathwork facilitator who specializes in early trauma resolution returned to the pod to share her expertise on Neo-natal psychology and discuss the impact of early childhood experiences on our sense of safety and well-being as adults. We had a fascinating conversation around consciousness beginning before birth and how babies create memories, even if they are implicit and non-narrative.This heart-led conversation explores the importance of feeling safe in our bodies and how early trauma can disrupt the ability to find that felt sense of okay-ness. Together we expressed a deep compassion for how tough simple daily living can be for someone in a body that experienced early traumatic memories or experiences for which they will never have words or narratives for given that they occurred before our mental capacities developed.Whether you are aware of such possible early childhood or pre-natal experiences, Laurie Anne offers us hope that we can, at any time, learn how to become a secure base for our own selves and others and create a sense of safety again, no matter how unsafe or confusing we have felt in the past. After listening to this conversation, you will feel an unexpectedly enormous well of compassion for why you and others may react and cope in the often hurtful ways we do. And although there may have been early experiences out of our control that negatively impacted us, the power is in our hands to expand the capacity for discomfort and create a safe world within ourselves.Timestamps:03:33 Consciousness and Early Memories05:29 The Impact of Early Experiences on Safety21:58 Becoming a Secure Base22:26 The Need for Validation and Mirroring23:19 The Impact of Early Life Experiences on the Nervous System24:14 The Healing Power of Touch29:43 The Impact of Proprioception on Sense of Self33:00 The Transition from Living in the Mind to Living in the Heart34:07 The Difficulty of Daily Living with a Hijacked Nervous System36:09 The Impact of Early Attachment and the Role of Caregivers40:41 Processing Traumatic Birth Experiences45:18 Connecting with the Child Before Conception and During Pregnancy47:12 The Primal Fear of Not Being Liked51:10 Learning to Expand Capacity for Uncomfortable Sensations56:43 Navigating the Tension Between Doing and BeingAlso, if you haven't already…make sure to listen to Laurie Anne on Episode 28: Finding Our True Selves By Healing Through The Nervous System. In that episode, we discussed:-Somatic Work-Understanding trauma responses and coping mechanisms-How to process emotions through the body (not the mind!)-Emotional regulation-Burnout!-Shifting from the sympathetic nervous system to a parasympathetic (rest & digest) stateDon't forget to share your biggest takeways and connect with us inside of the FREE Spiraling Higher Community where you can connect with other conscious besties and join us for a free connection call every month with people on the same frequency as you:--FINALLY! She deep dives into the characteristics and strategies of each energy type, including generators, manifesting generators, projectors, and manifestors. This conversation is aimed to help you experience more fulfilment and satisfaction in life by allowing you to see where you may have fallen out of alignment with your energy archetype due to social conditioning. When we are trained our whole lives to energetically respond in a certain way, realizing your own unique energy type can be confronting, deep work but necessary to heal any nervous system dysregulation.(For example, projectors like Sam will feel burnt out after even just 4-5 hours of work!)We also ask Holly to share the significance of ‘profile' in human design for those who want to go a little deeper than knowing their type and how it can affect your relationships, decision-making, and business. We're so excited for you to learn more about Human Design because this conversation helped us really solidify that what our intuition has been telling us is actually true, and that when we live in alignment with our energy, we experience more ease, trust, and manifestations.Timestamps:00:00 Introduction to Human Design06:15 Energy Types: Generators and Manifesting Generators17:25 Energy Type: Projectors27:19 Energy Type: Manifestors36:12 Difference Between Ambition and Initiation03:00 Understanding Human Design06:00 The Five Energy Types21:00 Living in Alignment with Your Design36:00 The Impact of Human Design on Relationships39:00 Using Human Design in Decision-Making42:00 Applying Human Design in Business53:01 Living in Alignment with Business for Each Energy Type01:20:25 Exploring the Conscious and Unconscious ProfileIf you love this episode and want to chat with us and our high vibe community about anything related to your journey...join us inside the FREE Spiraling Higher Community for conscious dialogue and loving perspectives. We host FREE connection calls inside for our community on the last Sunday of every month. We invited Kela Rose, the fantastic host of the Skinny Dipping Podcast, to have an authentic, roundtable discussion on what we're all moving through, the patterns we're shifting, and learning how to deeply trust ourselves in each moment. If you are looking for a warm hug, a spiritual bestie to hear and validate your experiences, this conversation feels like that friend.Kela shares that she's going through a pretty large, confusing life transition that brings up a series of self-defeating questions that hosts Sam and Gina offer a loving lens to look at them through. This conversation will naturally make you pause to wonder what kind of questions you are constantly asking yourself. Are you asking yourself, "What am I supposed to do?" "What's wrong with me?" We chat about how these type of questions indicate that you're locked into a paradigm where you create fear and paralysis over an imagined "wrong" decision or constantly bring attention to what you perceive to be wrong or "bad” about yourself. This can often lead to attempts at overcorrection, which only leads straight back to the same patterns we are trying to heal. Healing is going slow, feeling curious, and invites us to release the force and tension we keep using to manage ourselves.Something else we also discuss in this conversation is being identified with being the "problem solver," and how this identity actually perpetuates the creation and existence of problems. If we are always feeling tied to solving something, and getting a hit of worth or dopamine through it, then we naturally and unconsciously have to continue creating problems and chaos to feel those rewards. Lastly, we dive into flow state, why it feels so good, and how to live from it rather than chasing it.In this episode, you'll also hear us reference our previous conversation on her podcast which was all about detoxing from the hustle culture and stress/adrenaline addiction. We have all heard the phrase, "You are what you eat." After today's episode, those five words will resonate in a deeper way than ever before. If you are someone who has ever suffered from disordered eating, obsession with diet, or hyperfixation on your physical appearance...this conversation will radically shift the way you view food and help you heal your relationship to it to experience more energetic vitality and sustainable wellness in your life.To better understand how our nutrition, or lack thereof, affects the body's internal stress levels, energy output, and mental health symptoms...we invited Kymber Maulden, a nutrition consultant and women's health coach, onto the pod. From the age of 15, Kymber experienced both mental and physical symptoms that were signs of deeper, complex trauma and the flawed social ideals of what a woman is "supposed to" look like from the 90s. Like most people, she went the medical route and was given diagnosis after diagnosis and was prescribed medications to dissolve her symptoms, further disguising the rooted cause. This led her on a winding journey in and out of different diet camps, such as raw veganism, and eventually back to her own intuition.By studying neuro-somatics, nutrition, Internal Family Systems (parts work) and complex developmental trauma, she realized that refining lifestyle choices for peak women's health often goes against the grain of many commonly accepted male-centric beliefs around food, fasting, exercise and energy. Through both her own personal healing work and the professional work she's done with hundreds of women over the past few years, she's come to view everything in health and behavior through the lens of nervous system functions.Nutritionally, she works within the growing niche often referred to as "prometabolic or bioenergetic," which places great emphasis on the impact of stress, in all forms, on the function of our cells' ability to produce energy. Disruptions in the ability of our cells to produce adequate energy to meet the energy demands of our modern lives is at the root of all chronic symptoms and illnesses, making metabolism a central focus within this niche. Tying in the effect of nervous system dysregulation and trauma within this approach to nutrition has provided Kymber with an insatiable desire to explore the intersection of nutritional and somatic healing.Highlights:-The interconnected link between nutrition, somatic healing, trauma, and wellness with respect to women's health-Physiological stress and how it hurts the body-Complex trauma, which often stems from environmental failure during childhood, can impact nervous system regulation and contribute to chronic illness-How under-eating can have negative effects on mental health and overall wellbeing-The male-centric approach to health and fitness and how it often overlooks the unique needs of women's bodies-Embracing the theme of moving slowly and creating a safe space to restTimestamps:00:00 Introduction and Personal Health Journey04:29 The Impact of Medications and Dietary Choices09:25 Understanding Stress and its Effects on the Body13:30 The Difference Between Acute and Chronic Stress18:21 Complex Trauma and its Impact on Nervous System Regulation31:03 The Importance of Nutrition for Mental and Physical Health33:15 The Impact of Food Intake on Wellbeing37:11 The Role of Energy Production and Stress Hormones41:57 Understanding Caloric Intake and Protein Consumption44:21 The Negative Effects of Under Eating and Over Exercising48:04 The Male-Centric Approach to Health and Fitness01:05:17 Moving in a More Feminine WayIf you love this episode and want to chat with us and our high vibe community about anything related to your journey...join us inside the FREE Spiraling Higher Community for conscious dialogue and loving perspectives. We host FREE connection calls inside for our community on the last Sunday of every month. SPIRALERS, WE ARE BACK FOR SEASON 3! We have some SUPER special growth moments to celebrate with you today in addition to all of the upcoming new episodes. First off, we are now recording IN STUDIO!!! This has been a manifestation in the making since we began and we are so unbelievably honored and grateful to be growing alongside you and spiraling higher to new realities. It was only less than 2 years ago that we bought the second cheapest mics on amazon to being here now, with you, in the studio continuing on our heart-led mission to bring you conscious conversations that transform your perspective.Watch this episode here on YouTube:https://youtu.be/2oM7o27Dfm0In our comeback episode, after a much deserved nervous system demanded break, we chat about what it really means to even live up to your "FULL" potential and how chasing your potential is a lack-drenched pursuit. We talk openly about how our "old selves" would have perceived or judged our progress as "slow" or "behind," but in this new season of valuing our bodies over our insatiable egoic minds, we see this new pace as a win rather than a loss. Of course, the old selves only cared about speed and production; they frankly did not care about being present with ourselves because to do so, they'd have to slow down!So while we might appear to be moving slowly, we are moving at the speed of a newfound trust that allows us to prioritize our needs over our wants. We are no longer normalizing the experience of burnout but being proactive in our efforts to increase the longevity and the quality of our lives. We want to be here for a long time, not a short time, and the only way to ensure that is to continue taking care of ourselves with love. THAT is healing

First of all, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to our listeners for tuning in, doing the inner work, and making us your top podcast in 2023! Because we trusted ourselves, we attracted you!!! We feel an overwhelming amount of gratitude to every person who has trusted us to help them see their patterns, become more conscious, and release their fears.Season 1 was about looking at our darkness and what needs more love while Season 2 was about removing the obstacles to true peace. What stops us from doing the things we KNOW we want to do...but don't feel like we are ready or deserve to?If you've been listening along for a while or here for the first time, this episode will either remind or teach you about the gifts of presence, patience, and perspective. What we all really want, we already have...and once you can tune into that, abundance is yours.--The greatest gift of getting to be the hosts of "Spiraling Higher" has been meeting our listeners inside the community, connecting with them, and being witnesses to what they are spiraling through.Sharing what works for us, what moves us, and what troubles us is what makes us feel alive. 57. ABUNDANCE is a Frequency and MONEY is the Tool

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 17, 2023 62:58

True abundance is not the accumulation of money. Abundance is a frequency and state of being - not a destination!Yet so many of us spend all of our energy chasing money and trying to leave the present moment in order to get somewhere better. We keep trying to approach an illusory time in the future where we are happier and more worthy than we are now. What this does though is reinforce the belief that money itself has the power to give us happiness, joy and self-worth. We confuse money with abundance and think that becoming abundant happens by becoming "rich."Understanding the key difference between 'Abundance' and 'Money' for us has been paramount. We become "rich" when we first recognize and embody the richness already within us. We don't chase money thinking that it will make us richer, we become rich internally and then money chases us. This is a complete paradigm shift! If you are looking to master the energetics of money and finally become its master...we have a super special limited opportunity for you.Between 11/17 - 11/27, you can download the "Wealthy Woman Bundle" which is a collaboration between us and 55 other financial content creators and wealth advisors to offer you access to 62 different courses and guides about all things money & business. 56. Energetic Debt: Budgeting Your Energy

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 8, 2023 69:21

Almost all of us are familiar with budgeting our money and our time...but what about our energy? Most of are counting our dollars and trying to make the best use of our hours, but in doing so, we are falling into an energetic deficit. In today's episode, we share some personal details about how we've transitioned from budgeting our time to budgeting our energy. For years, we both had a strict timeline and to-do list that attempted to ensure we would be the most productive, unconsciously putting ourselves into energetic debt over and over again. At a certain point...we had to ask ourselves, "Why?"Most physiological cues are considered positive, and thankfully, we know when we need to eat or use the bathroom. Yet the physiological signs of being overworked and tired are not met with the same self-caretaking behavior. Most of the time, these cues are met with internalized narratives about how "bad" and "lazy" we are. This conditioning has resulted in us shaming ourselves out of receiving the very thing we so need. It's unfortunate that we don't see rest as either neutral or positive in our fast-paced, Capitalist culture. Rest has been demonized as the idle threat to our precious productivity. We wear badges of fatigue and show off how much we've done rather than caring about how we truly feel. But for us? It's no longer of utmost importance to be "productive" (we've unlinked productivity from our self-worth!), it's more valuable to be truly well. And in order to become well, we had to rest.True abundance, to us, is knowing that we have more than enough time to do all the things we desire AND having enough energy to do them.If you love this episode and want to chat with us and our high vibe community more about this episode...join the free Spiraling Higher Community. We host FREE connection calls inside for our community on the last Sunday of every month. Ashley Nelson became a two-time widow before the age of 35. She also said “goodbye” to ten other relatives and friends in between those drastic losses. These deaths, alongside her 10-year career in the health and death-care industry, gave her deep insight into life after loss that led to her becoming a certified grief specialist. Today, Ashley leads ‘Learning About Grief' - an organization that offers loss-specific groups, one-to-one private grief sessions, and free education to over 25,000 people from 50+ countries. In today's episode we ask her about the stages of grief and how to move through them, as well as support people going through them. She sheds light on the research that led to the well-known ‘5 Stages of Grief,' but shares that these stages were well-documented only with respect to those who were dying. However, we know that grief not only affects the dying but the ones who have survived their death. If the colloquially known 5 Stages of Grief have never resonated with you as a person who has lost a loved one, and experience them more in waves, this conversation will leave you feeling more seen and heard.Carrying grief is human, and you are exactly where you are meant to be.No matter what season of grief you are in, or even if you have never lost a loved but want to support those that have, this conversation will help you ease pain and feel more connected.Episode highlights:-The 5 Stages of Grief (what it gets right + what it gets wrong)-Celebrating someone's life while simultaneously grieving them-Why we resist the ‘acceptance' phase for so long-Comparing your grief or attempting to justify it-The guilt of joy (Survivor's Guilt) experienced after losing loved one-Finding a new identity after lossIf you love this episode and want to chat with us and our high vibe community more about grief...join the free Spiraling Higher Community. We host FREE connection calls inside for our community on the last Sunday of every month. Have you ever got caught in a spiral of comparing your suffering to another person's? Or feeling bad that someone else is suffering and you're not? We've noticed this theme within ourselves, and of course, in the outer reality and it makes us wonder...who is this helping?Who does it serve to compare our suffering or anyone else's suffering against anothers? By comparing, judging, or feeling guilt around our suffering...we do not alleviate any of the suffering the world experiences. What we've realized through our own lives and this candid conversation is that comparing suffering only adds to and creates more suffering. When we remember what is within our control, exercise self care and preservation, we can then show up more fully to other people's pain and support them instead of carrying their pain. This episode will challenge the unconscious idea that many of us perpetuate, which is that through suffering...we become "good."If you love this episode and want to chat with us and our high vibe community about how you've been comparing suffering or feeling overwhelmed by the helplessness you've been experiencing...join the free Spiraling Higher Community. We host FREE connection calls inside every month for our community...RSVP by clicking the link below:--Join our FREE community: (We host free calls every month!)https://tinyurl.com/SpiralinghighercommunityTry the SUPERHUMAN meditation app free for 6 weeks with code 'SPIRALINGHIGHER':https://www.superhuman.app/registerClear your money blocks & learn how to tap into true ABUNDANCE and become a money master:https://simplifyingsam.mykajabi.com/abundance-money-workshop-replay--Apply for 1:1 coaching with Sam:https://www.simplifyingsam.com/1on1coachingApply for 1:1 coaching with Gina:https://tinyurl.com/1on1coachingbteFollow Spiraling Higher:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/spiralinghigherFollow Simplifying Sam:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@simplifying.samInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/simplifying.samFollow Gina:Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@bournetoelevateInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/bournetoelevateFor all inquiries, email us at:Spiralinghigher@gmail.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
