可以搜索公号【璐璐的英文小酒馆】或者添加【luluxjg2】加入社群,查看文稿和其他精彩内容哦~ So far we've talked about formal and smart casual; when it comes to casual, it's pretty much whatever you wear, right? Yeah. Casual means that you can start wearing things like trainers, jeans, T-shirts. These are fine for casual events such as going to the pub or just going out. But you wouldn't really wear this when you're going for dinner or you wouldn't wear this when you're going to theater for example. Hang on a minute. You cannot wear trainers or sneakers. 就不能穿这种运动鞋去正式的晚餐或者说去看戏.Some clubs and some places in the UK they would actually ban people from wearing trainers. What do they have against trainers. Well, because it's seen as too casual.I think the rules are changing as well. They are changing, but there are a lot of dress codes or a lot of places that still have dress code, they would actually say no trainers. To be completely honest, I mean we can talk about that for a little bit in the end. But my experience in London, there are still many places that would really require a dress code.Yeah, and I would say kind of if you do go to a restaurant or go for dinner, you should be looking for smart casual. Yeah, smart casual is very safe because you also don't want to overdressed to the point that people think you just went to a baptism or wedding.Exactly.But I have to say in English you say dress up and dress down, right? Dress down means dress more casually, dress up means you are more dolled up. You are more sort of formally dressed. But I always want to dress up rather than dressed down because when you're under-dressed, when you're too casual for the venue, for this scenario, you are gonna feel very uncomfortable. Yeah. I would still say in the UK we are quite conservative when it comes to what we wear. And for example, it's like trainers, generally I only wear trainers when I'm working out. Oh, trainers are supposed to be sportswear. Yeah, so when I go for runs or if I go for like long walks, then I wear trainers. But if I'm going out anywhere else, I would always wear shoes. Talk about casual, in the very beginning we mentioned there is a layer even more casual than casual called loungewear, 这个就是我们意义上的什么家居服.Loungewear is basically what you wear at home, i.e. what you wear in the lounge, so loungewear would include things like pajamas, but also things like sweat pants or joggers. 就是那种松垮那种运动裤对吧?Yeah, so you would wear jogging bottoms, maybe a T-shirt. Women might wear leggings and people would wear these if at home, but they would also wear them if they're working out or going very quickly to the shops for example.Nearby shops.

Hey Gorgeous,   Are you team pajama days or team get dressed all the way no matter what? There is nothing wrong with either perspective.   But today, I'm specifically talking to my pajama mamas. You know who you are…if some days the thought of wearing real clothes is just too much, then this episode is for you.   I have long been an advocate of pajama days, recovery days, introvert days, whatever you want to call them. Over time they have decreased, but in certain seasons I still find myself reverting back to that comfort.   Instead of living my life in frumpy pajamas, I have made it a priority to have lounge pajamas that I really love that make me feel good.   In this episode I'm sharing why it's ok to be a pajama fan, and why you should focus instead on curating a collection of loungewear that you love, so you can avoid that grumpy frumpy feeling.   Get Dressed. This week, your favorite personal stylist Holly Katz is defining the areas of Pajamas, Loungewear, and other “house clothing” you need to know to avoid committing one of the worst Fashion Crimes: Pajamas worn in public, ratty sleepwear, and inappropriate loungewear.     What you wear during your down time matters for a myriad of reasons, but mainly, because you deserve to look and feel your best, especially when you are relaxing!   NOTE: We have a TON of Fashion Bestie shout-outs this week, so do not cut this episode short! We have gotten SO MUCH fan mail and so many fashion questions – and this makes us SO HAPPY!   Also, as always, be sure to follow along on Holly's curated Pinterest Boards to see all of her suggestions in this episode.   First of all: Pajama sets are not loungewear.   You cannot go outside or run errands in anything that starts with the word “pajama.” Pajamas, pajama pants and pajama sets are for sleeping. The literal definition of pajamas is “something you wear to bed,” and something you sleep in. Period. End of Story.   Loungewear is a step-up from sleepwear. You “lounge around” in it and could possibly run an errand or walk the dog in it - if you are covered in the appropriate areas and don't look like you just rolled out of bed. Pajama Fashion Crimes:   Be aware of these critical issues that can lead you down the road to committing pajama crimes - sometimes without even noticing:   Buying cheap pajamas at box stores that don't hold their shape or are made of cheap fabric. Wearing your significant other's oversized T-shirts, or old sports, concert, etc. T-shirts that you feel badly about giving away. Mixing your pajama pants and shorts with your assortment of crappy sweatpants in the same drawer.    If you mindlessly wear PJs or Loungewear, you will walk by a mirror one day and not recognize the person staring back at you. You need to get your pajama game in order!   Hot Tip: We spend time and money on our wardrobe, and even on our workout clothes, so don't skimp on your pajamas and loungewear! This is part of your wardrobe.   You need to get your act together and get 2-3 pajamas and loungewear outfits that you can wear on your down time, without being too skimpy. (We are not talking about lingerie in this episode. That is another subject entirely.)   Why? Because if you have friends, family, kids, or teens around the house, then their friends are around the house. You need to have some self-awareness about who sees you in your PJs and loungewear. If the Amazon guy rings your doorbell, and needs you to sign for something, you can't open the door half-dressed.   Types of Pajamas:   You should have some really nice pajamas that are currently in style and fit you correctly. Not 10-year-old pajamas or Christmas-themed pajama pants in May. Okay? #notchic.   And just a word to the wise: If y'all do the holiday, dress-up, greeting card with matching outfits thing, or matching pajamas, whatever your tradition is, it's none of our business. We are just telling you that outside the month of December, is a non-negosh. Don't. Do. It.   Holly's Favorite Pajama Brands:   Eberjay PJ Salvage Casa Bella Natori La Perla Olivia van Halle Barefoot Dreams Yawn Luxurious Organic Nightwear Holly's Favorite Loungewear Brands:   Kiya Tomlin | Go to EP 125 Dayo Women | Go to EP 134 Paridaez |Go to EP 26 Carbon 38 Luxury Activewear Alo Yoga Cotton Citizen Pangaia   Side Bar: “House Clothes”   There are times when you need to do some serious housekeeping, clean out your garage, paint your fence, do a little yardwork, etc. You need clothes that you can get dirty in. So, please dedicate a few items for this area of your life and wear them only for this purpose. Include in this area some shoes, jackets, etc., that can get gross, but which you are not going to wear for anything else. Keep this section of your closet separate.   Side Bar: “Sweats” We are not banning sweat outfits. We are banning old, out of style, ratty, beat down sweatpants.   Hot Tip:   Get yourself a personal gift list. Start a Google Doc. Plan ahead for Mother's Day, your Birthday, Hannukah and Christmas! You know what you want. Your family does not, UNLESS you tell them. Pick out your favorite PJs and loungewear, put them on a list, and COMMUNICATE  to your fam and friends what you'd like. If you're the gift giver, always include a gift receipt.    In summary, take care of you so you can take care of others. Buy yourself some comfy, silky, pretty PJs! You'll feel better, you'll look better, and you will sleep better – so you can can feel great about what you're wearing, event when you go to bedd.    We are the best fashion friend you never knew you needed, so please, please send us your fashion questions via email or on our social DMs. Holly WILL answer and most likely, will give you a shout out on our next episode.    Have a fabulous fashion week!   Love,  Holly! Be Aside is a comfortable loungewear brand for both men and women. The brand was born during the COVID-19 pandemic when people were looking for comfortable yet presentable clothes to wear at home. The founder of Be Aside, along with her mother-in-law, realized that they needed something to wear that would be suitable for casual outings like grocery shopping or getting coffee, without having to wear heavy denim or traditional Indian wear that can be uncomfortable in the hot summer months. They found the perfect solution in loungewear and began creating products that catered to this need.Initially, their marketing strategy was simple: post pictures of their products on Instagram. However, they soon realized this approach wasn't yielding the desired results, so they began doing photo shoots in different locations and promoting their products.Be Aside believes in taking things one step at a time, focusing on consistency and producing high-quality products. As a result, they could approach celebrities to do ads wearing their products. They believe sticking to your quality will bring results over time and they stick to that mantra.Be Aside doesn't have its own website but is on different marketplaces. They feel that being present on various platforms helps them build credibility and grow faster.

In this episode, Ruth interviews Diane Houston. She shares how she started her business journey, the biggest challenges, and the hardest decisions she had to make in this journey. She also shares some practical advice for people who wants to start their business. If you are thinking of starting something and an opportunity comes, the first decision that you have to make is to step out and go for it. It will always be better to make a mistake, learn from it, make a pivot, and continue to grow than to never take the first step at all.   Key takeaways from this episode: Make sure that all the decisions you make are your decisions. You will learn from things you do well and things you do not do well. First impressions usually tend to be right. If you are a solopreneur or just starting your business, one of the first hires should always be your right hand. Build habits and do positive things no matter what happens in the world. Read everything you can get your hands on. Make sure that you are everywhere, whether it's online and store, marketplaces, or direct selling mixture. Look after yourself first. Have something you can rely on, a favorite podcast, a good friend, or a book that you keep going back to. You have to keep being level-headed and you have to be open to all the opportunities that are coming to you. Be mindful of what you are consuming Communicating your brand story is the most important thing you can do in times like this   Episode Timeline: 00:04 Podcast Intro 01:09 Episode Intro 01:45 Who Diane Houston is and what she does 02:52 What lead Diane to the business she has today 06:29 Diane's advice for people who want to start a new business journey  07:42 The biggest challenges with Diane's business journey 11:12 What it's like to work with friends and family 12:22 Diane's advice for people with what's currently going on in the economy 15:23 Marketing channels that work for Diane's business 16:45 How to connect with Diane 17:25 Outro   Connect with Diane Houston here: Website: https://www.gildapearl.co.uk  More about Ruth: Hi, I'm Ruth, a business coach specializing in helping freelancers and business owners adjust their mindset and their marketing so they can get fully booked with clients they LOVE to work with. I've helped hundreds of self-employed women achieve the time and money freedom they craved. I've started this podcast because when I first went all in and left the corporate world to be a freelancer, I was grateful for any work that came my way. After over 20 years of freelancing and working for other people, I started to realize I'd created a glass ceiling for myself. In 2017, I finally started listening to that voice that had been telling me for a long time that I wasn't doing what I loved and fulfilling my true potential.  It took a critical illness to give me that wake-up call.  I don't want the same to happen to you. You can expect practical advice, inspiring stories, and a lot of aha moments as we uncover and kick to the curb all the obstacles you have been putting in your way. I'm on a mission to inspire women to start and play bigger in business.   Connect and know more about Ruth Gilbey here: Coaching: https://www.ruthgilbey.com/coaching Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ruthgilbeymarketingandcoaching/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ruth_gilbey/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ruthgilbey/

S2 E12. Sunday Luxe: How to Create a Luxury Loungewear Brand with Jen and Zoe

This week we speak to co-founders Jen and Zoe of luxury loungewear and lifestyle brand, Sunday Luxe. The two met in 2015 through their work in advertising, Jen and Zoe share similar work ethic values and this came about from their upbringings. From an early age, under her grandma's influence of helping her fix holes and zips, Jen fell in love with fashion and her sewing machine. Matched with a mindset to live a luxurious life and watching her parents work hard, Zoe's love for fashion expanded when she was met with shooting for premium brands like Marie Claire. Jen and Zoe grew an instant connection at work when they realised that their conversations were led by wanting their own business. Their entrepreneurial mindsets made them realise the gap in the market for loungewear that makes a statement yet is still classic and made to with the finest of fabrics. Years on, they obtained successful careers and still managed to keep in contact, as Zoe eventually moved to New York and Jen laid the foundation of Sunday Luxe. In this episode, we take a trip down Zoe and Jen's journey into running a fashion business and how being customers for their own brand enabled them to create the perfect loungewear label. We also discuss how their combined skills benefited roles now, how money comes to play when you have a co-founder and the importance of having the right mindset to help achieve success in business. This is a great episode to remind you that setting up a fashion business may not be easy, Jen and Zoe experienced some difficult obstacles along the way of launching and even after launching, but you've got to be strong and leave the comparison habits at the door.
