Aujourd'hui je suis reçu avec Siham Sentissi par Loïc Jaegert-Huber, DG d'ENGIE North Africa. La transition énergétique n'a pas seulement lieu en Europe, elle est évidemment mondiale. Avec Loïc, Siham et moi aujourd'hui plongeons dans les projets de transition du Maroc, mais aussi de l'Egypte et du Sénégal. Evidemment, nous évoquons le solaire et l'éolien. Mais également le gaz qui sera importé sous forme liquide dans le pays.  Je ne m'y attendais pas, mais nous parlons également du stress hydrique du pays qui vient de connaître 7 années consécutives de sécheresse. Sans surprise, le pays se lance dans la production d'eau potable par dessalement d'eau de mer. Ces projets sont pharaoniques. Et comme une usine de dessalement consomme énormément d'énergie, parler d'eau nécessite ici de parler encore d'énergie. Où la trouver ? Comment la produire ? We've talked about scams in Morocco a few times on the podcast, from one of our early episodes (Scams! How to Understand and Avoid Them) to one of our recent Live Q&A sessions, (Latest Scams: Staying Safe While Traveling in Morocco).It's a topic we often circle back to, because we want to make sure that all tourists, whether they travel with Destination Morocco or on their own, are staying safe and confident while visiting Morocco. I dette afsnit gæster kunstnere og barndomsvenner Apolonia Sokol og Zahna Siham Benamor, The Female Effect, og vi dykker ned i hver deres kunstneriske virkemidler, som henholdsvis gennem maleri, poesi og performance stiller sig kritisk overfor etablerede samfundsnormer, ulighed og magtstrukturer, og stiller spørgsmålstegn til, hvem det egentlig er, der bestemmer hvad og hvem som defineres som korrekt og falsk. Deres historie begyndte i København i 1996, da de mødtes som 8-årige. Nu genforenes de i udstillingen “The False Rose of Jericho” på Instituttet for Samtidskunst O-Overgaden i København, en udstilling, der med sine mange facetter berører vores samtid. Udstillingens symbol, Jeriko-rosen, også kendt som genopstandelsesrosen, symboliserer bl.a. genopblomstringen af deres venskab gennem årene og evnen til at overkomme svære oplevelser. Med sit nomadiske afsæt, er rosen også et symbol på udstillingens kritiske perspektiv på ejerklassen, magtforhold og kolonialisme, som udformer sig gennem kunst og performance.Samtalen berører også dét at føle sig fremmede, og vigtigheden i at finde nogen man kan spejle sig i. Apolonia og Siham deler, hvordan de konstant lærer af hinanden, finder inspiration i hinanden og hvordan deres kommunikation er forskellig, men samtidig deler samme budskaber og en fælles forståelse. Genau das will Siham herausfinden und zeigt in einem Modell, was ein Drehwurm mit dem Gleichgewichtsorgan im Ohr zu tun hat: In dem Gleichgewichtsorgan befinden sich Tasthärchen und Flüssigkeit und wenn die dem Gehirn eine andere Information senden als unsere Augen, dann kommt es zu Schwindel. Doch wie machen das eigentlich Menschen, die sich in ihrem Beruf ganz viel drehen müssen? Ballett-Tänzer Even verrät Siham das Geheimnis, warum er von den vielen Pirouetten keinen Drehwurm kriegt… Im zweiten Teil der Sachgeschichte besucht Siham ein Trainingszentrum für Eiskunstläufer:innen und fragt sich, wieso sie bei den vielen und schnellen Drehungen keinen Drehwurm bekommen. Deshalb darf sie beim Training dabei sein und findet heraus, dass es alles eine Frage der Übung ist.

Der Satellitenwettbewerb Teil 1 Im ersten Teil der Sachgeschichte besucht Siham ein Schülerteam in Bad Homburg, die einen Satelliten für einen Wettbewerb bauen. Er ist nicht größer als eine Getränkedose und wird Can Sat genannt. Die Schüler:innen erklären die einzelnen Bauteile auf den kleinen Platinen und zeigen, wie sie den Satelliten für den geplanten Flug testen. Das Schul-Team tüftelt sechs Monate an ihrem kleinen Satelliten und ihre Mission lautet: Er soll mit seinen Sensoren Waldbrand-gefährdete Gebiete aufspüren können. Der Satellitenwettbewerb Teil 2 Im zweiten Teil sind alle Teams des Wettbewerbs am Flugplatz, auf dem die Rakete mit den selbst entworfenen Satelliten starten soll. Aber der Satellit der Schüler:innen aus Bad Homburg funktioniert plötzlich nicht mehr und sie müssen noch einmal ganz von vorne beginnen. Im letzten Moment entwickeln sie eine Notlösung und geben ihren Can Sat rechtzeitig ab. Gleich startet die Rakete – wird alles klappen und der Satellit auf dem Fall aus 800 m Höhe Bilder liefern? Der Satellitenwettbewerb Teil 3 Der dritte Teil der Sachgeschichte zeigt den Raketenstart und wie der Satellit mit seinem Fallschirm wie geplant zu Boden fällt. Es hat geklappt, die Kamera hat mitgefilmt und gute Bilder geliefert. Das Forscher:innen-Team hat nicht aufgegeben, aber wie wird es wohl am Ende im Wettbewerb abschneiden?

Der Satellitenwettbewerb Teil 1 Im ersten Teil der Sachgeschichte besucht Siham ein Schülerteam in Bad Homburg, die einen Satelliten für einen Wettbewerb bauen. Er ist nicht größer als eine Getränkedose und wird Can Sat genannt. Die Schüler:innen erklären die einzelnen Bauteile auf den kleinen Platinen und zeigen, wie sie den Satelliten für den geplanten Flug testen. Das Schul-Team tüftelt sechs Monate an ihrem kleinen Satelliten und ihre Mission lautet: Er soll mit seinen Sensoren Waldbrand-gefährdete Gebiete aufspüren können. Der Satellitenwettbewerb Teil 2 Im zweiten Teil sind alle Teams des Wettbewerbs am Flugplatz, auf dem die Rakete mit den selbst entworfenen Satelliten starten soll. Aber der Satellit der Schüler:innen aus Bad Homburg funktioniert plötzlich nicht mehr und sie müssen noch einmal ganz von vorne beginnen. Im letzten Moment entwickeln sie eine Notlösung und geben ihren Can Sat rechtzeitig ab. Gleich startet die Rakete – wird alles klappen und der Satellit auf dem Fall aus 800 m Höhe Bilder liefern? Der Satellitenwettbewerb Teil 3 Der dritte Teil der Sachgeschichte zeigt den Raketenstart und wie der Satellit mit seinem Fallschirm wie geplant zu Boden fällt. Es hat geklappt, die Kamera hat mitgefilmt und gute Bilder geliefert. Das Forscher:innen-Team hat nicht aufgegeben, aber wie wird es wohl am Ende im Wettbewerb abschneiden?

Die Ferienzeit beginnt, und auch die Maus startet ihre große Sommerreise! In diesem Jahr geht es für Siham nach Marokko – in das Heimatland ihrer Eltern. Im ersten Teil der Serie reist sie zuerst in die nordöstliche Provinz Nador, wo ihre Eltern geboren und aufgewachsen sind. Sie trifft dort Llubna – eine ihrer Lieblingscousinen. Mit ihr spricht Siham Tarifit, die Sprache ihrer Familie. Sie sind Imazighen, gehören also zum Volksstamm der Berber, der Urbevölkerung Marokkos. Das Rifgebirge ist reich an Bodenschätzen, und Siham besucht die große Eisenerzmine, in der früher viele ihrer Vorfahren gearbeitet haben. Ihr Vater hat sich mit gerade 20 Jahren von der Bundesrepublik anwerben lassen, um im Ruhrgebiet als sogenannter „Gastarbeiter“ unter Tage Kohle abzubauen.

Im dritten Teil der Sommerreise ist Siham im Hohen Atlas, einem Gebirge, das quer durch Marokko läuft, zu Besuch in einer ganz besonderen marokkanischen Schule. Dort lernen die Kinder die 30 Zeichen der Berbersprache Tamazight, die ganz anders aussehen als unsere Buchstaben. Mittags werden die Kinder von ihren Müttern zu einer langen Mittagspause abgeholt. Siham begleitet Soubi nach Hause zu seiner Familie. Dort gibt es zur Begrüßung viele Küsse und dann noch ein leckeres marokkanisches Mittagessen: Tajine. So nennt man sowohl den Topf, in dem das Essen zubereitet wird, als auch das Gericht selbst.

Für Siham geht es weiter in den hohen Atlas, ein Gebirge, das sich quer durch Marokko zieht. Siham besucht eine Schule, in der die Kinder in drei Sprachen unterrichtet werden: auf Arabisch, auf Französisch und auf Tamazight, die Sprache der Berberstämme im Hohen Atlas. Viele Kinder und Lehrer:innen können zudem sogar noch Gebärdensprache. Siham darf einen Tag beim Unterricht dabei sein und kann beobachten, was die Kinder lernen: Die Vorschulkinder üben gerade Zählen auf Französisch, während die zweite Klasse das Alphabet auf Tamazight lernt. Ein ganz besonders beliebtes Fach ist Gartenarbeit. Hier gießen die Drittklässler die Pflanzen und lockern die Erde auf. Nach dem Unterricht ist aber erstmal Pause: Jetzt gibt es für alle Kinder ein zweites Frühstück, bevor dann erstmal richtig schön getobt und gespielt wird.

Im letzten Teil der Sommerreise geht es für Siham in den Süden Marokkos. In einer riesigen Steinwüste in der Nähe von Ouarzazate scheint nahezu 365 Tage im Jahr die Sonne, daher eignet sie sich auch ideal als Standort für eines der größten Solarkraftwerke der Welt: Noor. Solaringenieur Abdu erklärt Siham, wie im Solarkraftwerk aus Sonnenenergie Strom erzeugt werden kann. Was das wohl mit gebogenen Spiegeln zu tun hat?

Die letzte Etappe von Sihams Sommerreise führt sie weiter in den Süden Marokkos in Richtung Atlantikküste. Dort gibt es Arganbäume, aus deren Früchte ein kostbares Öl gewonnen werden kann. Einige Berberfrauen haben sich in einer Kooperative zusammengeschlossen und teilen sich die Arbeit: vom Auflesen der Früchte bis hin zum Abfüllen des Öls in Flaschen. Siham schaut sich den Prozess von vorne bis hinten genau an und darf sogar selbst einmal probieren, den öligen Samen aus der Schale der Frucht zu schlagen. Das ist gar nicht so einfach…

Wie lässt sich der Treibstoffverbrauch von Flugzeugen reduzieren? Mithilfe einer ganz besonderen Folie! Im ersten Teil der Sachgeschichte geht Siham der Frage nach, wie diese Folie hergestellt wird und was sie mit Haifischhaut zu tun hat. Anhand eines Modells erklärt sie, warum die Rillen der Haifischhaut so wichtig sind. Schließlich schaut sie sich in einer Fabrik die Fertigung der Folie an. Im zweiten Teil der Sachgeschichte wird erstmals ein Frachtflugzeug mit der Haifischhaut-Folie beklebt – Siham begleitet diesen Prozess und lernt dabei, warum das Bekleben des Flugzeugs ein bisschen wie Puzzeln ist und was es mit den roten und grünen Linien auf sich hat. Nach einer Woche und jeder Menge Handarbeit ist das Flugzeug wieder bereit zum Abflug!

How to avoid burnout… this is the million-dollar question for so many of us, right? We want to help animals and the earth but it's exhausting. And when other people don't seem to be on board it gets even harder. I've been struggling with burnout this year. Our move to Florida was announced a year ago, and the saga of deciding whether to go, and then executing on it has been… intense! I found myself with very little momentum to do anything. I did however feel inspired to bounce back after watching my earth-loving friends slay their businesses and decided to ask them how they avoid burnout. It turned into this panel discussion. The overarching theme was: SIMPLIFY. Begin by REALLY knowing ourselves. Choose our priorities by NARROWING DOWN and ONLY CHOOSING those that align with WHO WE ARE, and WHAT ACTUALLY WORKS in our life. And then STAY IN OUR LANE and keep delivering on those few priorities. Als Siham vor ein paar Jahren Erik zum ersten Mal traf, hatte er keine eigene Wohnung. Er zog durch Deutschland und schlief meistens draußen, im Sommer und sogar im Winter. Immer wieder wurde das Maus-Team gefragt, wie es Erik heute geht. Mittlerweile ist er in eine Wohnung gezogen, mit eigenem Schlüssel und eigenem Briefkasten. Und will sich gerne mit Siham treffen, denn es gibt viel zu erzählen: Erik heißt jetzt Katja. Und die Frau, die ihr die Tür öffnet, erzählt, dass sie sich nicht länger verstecken will. Katja freut sich, weil ihr Aussehen endlich zu ihren Gefühlen passt. Schon als Kind hat sie sich als Mädchen gesehen, traute sich aber nicht, das auch zu sagen. Und dass sie jetzt eine Frau ist, steht sogar in ihrem Personalausweis und in ihrer Geburtsurkunde.

Wer aber am Wahlsonntag nicht dorthin gehen kann, hat die Möglichkeit, vorab per Brief abzustimmen. Siham findet heraus, wie das funktioniert und stimmt diesmal auch selbst per Post ab. Schritt für Schritt schaut sie, wo ihr Brief ankommt und wie ihre beiden Stimmen auf dem Wahlschein gezählt werden.
