Need more eyes on your business? We all understand the power of having something go viral, but where business owners fall short is that they are willing to do anything, no matter the costs, to get that attention. Here's how you can be strategic in your quest for more attention and get the right kind of attention. Why is it that Elon Musk comes out with a cyber truck and the world stops and goes absolutely crazy? Why is it that, when SingularityU came out, it became a sold-out event almost instantly? How do these things happen so “easily”? Moral value and positive value are of no interest to the media. So what gets their intention? Novelty. Shock also adds value. If you can grab attention for your product in a new way, then the media will be ready to pounce. What are some of the ways you can grab the attention of the media? What's your novelty angle for your product? In this Tuesday Tip, Bill breaks down how some of the greats were able to make their events/products go viral. Today on the Exponential Africa Show Mic Mann interviews Raymond McCauley, not the pastor but the Biotech Scientist! Amongst many achievements and startups he is the founder of exponential biosciences and SingularityU faculty chair on digital biology.Biotechnology, often abbreviated to biotech, is the area of biology that uses living processes, organisms or systems to manufacture products or technology intended to improve the quality of human life.Ray says Biotech is one third of the world economy, influencing areas like healthcare, and agriculture, and the biggest deal of it all is mastering the process of reading and writing DNA, turning Biology into a digital science!Every living thing has a code, knowing the code gives access to a better life, treating patients based on their DNA coding allows for an exact treatment administering the right amount of a specific medicine needed by the patient. This allows a tailor made treatment, knowing what will and will not work on every living thing. Anything from growing crops to making beer or fuel will come down to understanding the code, the blue prints behind the life force.Watch the full episode and get to hear more of Ray’s findings on biotech and the developments around it!#futureproofAfrica

Maarten Den Braber (SingularityU): "Echte problemen met nieuwe technologie oplossen" by Fast Moving Targets
De Amerikaanse filosofie achter Singularity University luidt als volgt: 'Singularity University is a platform for education, innovation and action that is focused on understanding how exponential technology can be leveraged to drive global impact'.

Welcome to Day One is brought to you by the City of Newcastle. Today I'd like to share the story of a Newcastle startup that has been flying under the radar for some time. A local Newcastle startup that has customers internationally. That startup is Coassemble and its co-founder, Ryan MacPherson. Coassemble is a service that helps businesses create their own interactive online courses which can be used to educate their teams or their customers. They are a global company with staff in Denver, Wisconsin, LA, Canada, and Newcastle. They are backed by venture capital, and their latest series A raise was four and a half million dollars. So how did Ryan go from being a PE teacher to CEO of a global, multi-million dollar company overseeing thirty plus staff? To answer that question, first, we need to go back to day one and hear the story of how a policy of the Kevin Rudd government would dramatically alter the course of Ryan's career. ------------------ *Follow on Social* ------------------ * Instagram ( https://welcometodayone.com/instagram ) * Twitter ( https://welcometodayone.com/twitter ) * LinkedIn ( https://www.linkedin.com/company/welcometodayone ) * Facebook ( https://welcometodayone.com/facebook ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Meet Our* *Supporters* ( https://welcometodayone.com/supporters ) *(* *Become One* ( https://welcometodayone.com/patreon ) *)* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * SingularityU ( https://welcometodayone.com/singularity ) * Brian Hill ( https://twitter.com/laughingmind ) * Laurel K. * Daniel Spencer Want to become a sponsor? Welcome to day one is brought to you by the city of Newcastle. The City of Newcastle is a big supporter of entrepreneurship in our region and has recently launched a brand new digital hub called Newihub. Newihub is a growing and vibrant community of Newcastle's startups & founders. It's a central hub where you can learn about what's going on in our ecosystem, with events, available jobs and other resources. I'll tell you more about Newihub later in the episode, but for now, let’s jump into the story of Mike McKiernan. Deckee is a free mobile app designed to provide up to date information to people out on the water when boating, fishing or sailing in order to keep them safe. Deckee is approaching a million dollars raised through investors and is officially endorsed by three state governments in Australia. The Deckee app is also available for use worldwide, and international expansion is one of the priorities for the company moving forward. So how did Mike go from studying visual communications at Newcastle University to becoming an investor-backed entrepreneur overseeing a team of employees and scaling a tech company internationally? To answer that question, first, we need to go back to day one, and hear how a job Mike got as a student would reveal a whole set of problems he didn't even know existed. ------------------ *Follow on Social* ------------------ * Instagram ( https://welcometodayone.com/instagram ) * Twitter ( https://welcometodayone.com/twitter ) * LinkedIn ( https://www.linkedin.com/company/welcometodayone ) * Facebook ( https://welcometodayone.com/facebook ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Meet Our* *Supporters* ( https://welcometodayone.com/supporters ) *(* *Become One* ( https://welcometodayone.com/patreon ) *)* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * SingularityU ( https://welcometodayone.com/singularity ) * Brian Hill ( https://twitter.com/laughingmind ) * Laurel K. * Daniel Spencer

Today, Stackla is a global company with dozens of employees and offices in the US and UK. Many of their clients are household names: McDonald's, Nintendo, Toyota, and Sony just to name a few. But the growth of the company has not always been smooth sailing, and in recent years they've weathered two major storms: the pandemic, which all but wiped out many of their key clients, and a legal battle with Facebook which required Damien to make an incredibly difficult decision to keep the company afloat. But before we hear about how Stackla has been able to emerge from multiple catastrophes, first we need to go back to day one, and hear the story of how a part-time job in radio that was too good to pass up would ultimately lead Damien to become the CEO of a global technology startup. ------------------ *Follow on Social* ------------------ * Instagram ( https://welcometodayone.com/instagram ) * Twitter ( https://welcometodayone.com/twitter ) * LinkedIn ( https://www.linkedin.com/company/welcometodayone ) * Facebook ( https://welcometodayone.com/facebook ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Meet Our* *Supporters* ( https://welcometodayone.com/supporters ) *(* *Become One* ( https://welcometodayone.com/patreon ) *)* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * SingularityU ( https://welcometodayone.com/singularity ) * Brian Hill ( https://twitter.com/laughingmind ) * Laurel K. * Daniel Spencer Want to become a sponsor?
