NEW GOVERNMENT: WHAT CAN RECRUITERS / HR EXPECT? We'll be over a month since the General Election, in which almost all pollsters predict the Labour Party forming the government with the largest majority since Tony Blair 1997. How radical will this new government be? Are we going to see New Labour 2.0 or as some critics contend, Tory-lite 2.0? Whatever the flavour of personal politics, it remains the case that change of government means change in legislation, especially in taxation, employment law, immigration law, pension reform and the rest. What does this mean for us recruiters and HR professionals? What can we expect from the new government? We're going to look into a foggy crystal ball and try to have a look, with market observers Neil Carberry, CEO (Recruitment & Employment Confederation, Tony Wilson, Director (Institute of Employment Studies), Ray Walker, VP of Contingent Workforce (Worksome) & friends. "The universe hates me."This was my conclusion when unexpected expenses kept smacking me in the face all through October. There was the appliance repair company ripping me off.The Assisted Living facility making a billing error — and then correcting it by pulling $13,000 out of my account with no warning. The Home Health company deciding out of nowhere that I owed them $1800, and I'd better pay up or they were sending me to collections. It felt like fighting a seven-nation army — and left me with no time for actually MAKING money.I had a niggle that told me to let some of it go.But because I grew up in a family that was all about hoarding and controlling money, that felt impossible. And it also felt like I was letting the bad guys win.Well.Then I dropped into a very deep money healing study that REALLY helped me rewrite some of those old stories and make new choices. And today I'm here to share that learning with you!In today's episode, we'll dig into ...How every money "problem" is actually an opportunity to release and rewrite an old storyWhy having a controlling relationship with money doesn't workSome of my own family money stories — and how I'm rewriting themThe spiritual Law of Release — and how it can help you have a healthier attitude toward moneyHow unconscious journeying (self-hypnosis) can deepen your money healing and provide insights you never dreamed. How healing your own money wounds heals your entire lineage.Resources Mentioned:Lauren of LoveHuman Design free assessmentWise Advocate/Higher Self MeditationSarah's InstagramSubscribe to Sarah's emailsFREE DOWNLOAD: Feel Better in 15 Self Coaching ToolkitTap into the power of the world's most transformative life coach: YOU!Click here and get everything you need to turn that bad day around.

There should be a disclosure that comes with this job when you sign on explaining things you WILL run into inevitably.. because the problem is, when people DO run into these things, a lot of times they think of them as reasons to quit.. reasons why this isn't for them.. reasons why they've obviously done something wrong and are no good at this. Talent management is one of the hottest trends in business today. Talent has always been a key differentiator, but recent changes have been accelerated by COVID and stressed by the great resignation, leading us to total talent management - also known as contingent labor. In this episode, host Philip Ideson is joined by Mathias Linnemann, the Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Worksome, a marketplace and workforce management systems for freelance and contract labor. He and his team have had a front row seat for the recent changes in talent, and they have not just monitored trends - they have found ways to innovate the space as well. They take this opportunity to discuss: The rise of the freelance economy and what it means for companies and procurement teams Recent changes in how companies are accessing talent, and how that provides new opportunities to access talent and experience were previously out of reach Who owns the talent spend category, and the role that procurement can play in driving business outcomes that extend far beyond savings

At the end of last year I published a book called How to Start When You're Stuck, and since then I have found myself seeing everything through the frame the book presents. My book is about overcoming resistance, procrastination and fear through something I call 'The 12-Minute Method', and in this episode of The Coach's Journey Podcast I bring this idea into focus.I go back to the very start of my journey as a writer, to when I would find myself paralysed with my finger hovering over the 'post' button. You'll hear me describe five key principles for building your own 12-minute method and how maintaining a practice, forming habits, and committing to those things over time can lead to magical outcomes.Having applied the 12-Minute Method while I created it, I can now advise people how to build a 12-minute practice for their coaching business, and that is covered here, along with a lot of what I've learned about the Prosperous Coach approach and the developed thinking I've done around that.In this episode, I talk about:How to combine the 12-minute method with the Prosperous Coach to grow your coaching businessWhat I would recommend if I had to choose a 12-minute practice for coaches who want to grow their businessHow to nurture an authenticity practice that touches every aspect of your workSome specific 12-minute practices that you might choose, including the one I recommend most of allWhat represents real success, and how to identify it for yourselfI also talk about the impact that not starting something that you want to do can have on your life, and how that can be a vital driving factor in starting when you are stuck.Ultimately, this episode is about exploring who we want to become, how we become what we practise, and how we are always practising something. For information about my wider work and writing, visit www.robbieswale.com, and to buy his book, click here.Music by My Good Man William: listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4KmeQUcTbeE31uFynHQLQgTo support the Coach's Journey, visit www.patreon.com/thecoachsjourney and to join the Coach's Journey Community visit www.thecoachsjourney.com/communityThings and people we mentioned (that you might be interested in):- Mastering your personal brand https://www.robbieswale.com/mastering-your-personal-brand - Andrew Tuegel, a plaintiff's attorney and partner with Simpson, Simpson, & Tuegel in Bridgeport (TX), joins us on today's show. Andrew talks about knowing your jurisdiction, becoming indispensable, being honest in an interview, and Ted Lasso. His firm/practiceLocated in Wise County (NW of Fort Worth); Decatur is the county seat and their office is in BridgeportSmall firm that focuses on plaintiff personal injury / wrongful death / mass tort practice. Most of the work is contingent fee; the rest is local business.Majority of client base is in Wise County and the western part of the metroplex. Mass tort clients are nationwide.Likes that he has tried cases all over the country, since even with the local clients, the case itself may get filed in other jurisdictions. If you are filing in jurisdictions are aren't familiar with, know the substantive law that appliesTwo jurisdictions in U.S. that still have a 1% comparative fault/contributory negligence bar to recovery (Virginia and North Carolina), so that might determine whether or not to take a case of where to file, etc.Understand how the contingency fees can be structured (Texas has no cap other than not unconscionable; pretty wide latitude, but others have specific limitations on contingence fees)...this is a factor in how to evaluate/value the case.Plaintiff lawyers are nervous every time the legislature meetsBig push for HB 19 (tort reform in trucking wreck context) that became effective 9/1.Texas Supreme Court case recently allowed people pursing uninsured motorist claims can also get attorney fees.COVID update (as of 8/19)He has a case set for the end of SeptemberHe was recently in a hearing where mid-way through the judge had to end the hearing early because some type of exposure had occurred in the courthouse.Nothing moves cases like firm trial dates.Criminal trials take precedence and will bump the civil casesAdvice to lawyers in practiceMake yourself indispensable; find something that you can contribute to the team and that you are the best at. Become a necessary part of the team (shoutout to Baylor Law's Practice Court)When he was with Harrison Steakley, Matt Morrison was the partner on a bunch of opioid overdose cases that needed a lot of expert/technical witnesses and related depositions, etc. He was good at briefing on these expert issues and making sure they could keep their expert and get rid of the other side's expert. This led to him becoming part of the trial team for one of the cases in Utah, and then in Maine, and then in North Carolina. And while he briefed like crazy, he also got to take some of the witnesses at trial. If you do well with a little thing, you will get more opportunities with larger things. The inverse is true: if you don't do the little things well, you won't get the larger opportunities.Become the expert on novel or local rules/laws; this is a place for young lawyers to become the most knowledgeable about an area within their firm.Steve Harrison, legendary Waco trial lawyer and a gentleman-rancher, said that in every law firm, you need some combination of chicken getters and chicken pluckers. And lawyers need to figure out where they are in the getter/plucker scale. Getter = bringing in clients/cases/business; Pluckers = bill hours/push cases/do the work. Some people are a combination of both. But you need to contribute to a firm in one or both of these ways in order to be valuable to them.Re: business development from the plaintiff's side:the more serious a case, the more relational the business development is going to be, either with the potential client or referral source (another attorney, friend of the client, etc.)the less serious a case, the more a Google search or a response to an ad can workSome of the best PI lawyers get their referrals from other lawyersA lot of the advertising PI lawyers will actually wind up referring the case to the best trial lawyer in that area rather than trying it themselvesAdvice to lawyers on the lateral marketBe honest about what your experience isit's okay if you haven't done something or only done it a few times; the interviewer just needs to know what you can do on day oneBe willing to learn and workOn the plaintiff's side, understand it is a results-oriented business (not an hours billed business)Must be willing to do what it takes to win (within the bounds of ethical)Ted Lasso CommentaryHe is a big soccer fan (Liverpool) and was immediately interested once he first became aware of itOriginal Ted Lasso commercials for the premiere league coming to NBC from 2013!!Come for the humor; stay for the heart!Addresses tough subjects without being preachy, but we're going to talk about it.Can use some of this to talk with people in your own life about these subjectsRapid Fire QuestionsName one trait/characteristic you most want to see in an associate: WillingnessWhat habit has been key to your success: Get up earlyFavorite app/productivity tool: TwitterWhat would be listed first on the interest line of your resume: PilotFavorite legal movie: Legally Blonde / podcastThanks again to Andrew Tuegel for joining us on today's show!

Vitamin D is a nutrient that your body produces when you are exposed to sunlight. It is also found in food, including fish and eggs. You might be wondering if you need Vitamin D in your diet because of the COVD (Climate Change). There have been many cases where people were deficient due to lack of exposure to the sun. In this blog post we will talk about what Vitamin D does for your body, how much do you need, and if it's possible to take too much?Weigh-InI am down a smidge to 234.5. I've removed cereal from my house (as I can't eat "just one bowl") and I'm slowly eating less meat after looking into a more plant-based lifestyle. What is All This Talk About Vitamin D?Vitamin D DeficiencyMuch of this information is from this website In the United States, 41.6% of the total population is deficient. The symptoms of a Vitamin D deficiency are not always as easy to identify, especially if you're out in the sun. Many people live healthy lives without experiencing problems from this condition, but for some, it could mean loss of joint function or issues with muscle growth and recovery time. The most well-known symptom of vitamin D deficiency is rickets, a bone disease common in children in developing countries. Rickets has been mostly eliminated from Western countries because of the fortification of some foods with vitamin D.Deficiency is also linked to osteoporosis, reduced mineral density, and increased risk of falls and fractures in older adults. What's more, studies indicate that people with low vitamin D levels have a much greater risk of heart disease, diabetes (types 1 and 2), cancer, dementia, and autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis. Finally, vitamin D deficiency is linked to a reduced life expectancy. Two Types of Vitamin DTwo main dietary forms existVitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Found in some animal foods, like fatty fish and egg yolks.Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol). Found in some plants, mushrooms, and yeasts.Of the two, D3 (cholecalciferol) seems to be almost twice as effective at increasing blood levels of vitamin D as D2.Benefits of Vitamin DReduced risk of osteoporosis, falls, and fractures.Better strength. Vitamin D can increase physical strength in both upper and lower limbs.Cancer prevention. Vitamin D may help prevent cancer. One study noted that 1,100 IU per day — alongside calcium — reduced cancer risk by 60%Depression management. Studies show that vitamin D may ease symptoms in people with clinical depression.Reduced risk of type 1 diabetes.Improved mortality. Some studies suggest that vitamin D reduces people's risk of dying during the study periods, indicating that it may help you live longerHowever, many of these results are preliminary. According to a recent review, more evidence is necessary to confirm many of these benefitsHow Much Should I take? This seems to be up to debate.400 IU (10 mcg): infants, 0–12 months600 IU (15 mcg): children and adults, 1–70 years old800 IU (20 mcg): older adults and pregnant or breastfeeding womenAlthough adequacy is measured at 20 ng/ml, many health experts believe that people should aim for blood levels higher than 30 ng/ml for optimal health and disease preventionAccording to the U.S. National Academy of Medicine, the safe upper limit is 4,000 IU. This is interesting as many manufacturers are selling pills there the dose is 5000 IU.It May Need Other Nutrients to WorkSome researchers claim that fat-soluble vitamins work together and that it's crucial to optimize your vitamin A and K intake while supplementing with vitamin D3.This is especially important for vitamin K2, another fat-soluble vitamin that most people don't get enough of.Magnesium — another important mineral often lacking in the modern diet — may also be important for vitamin D function. What Happens if You Take Too Much?It is a myth that it is easy to overdose on vitamin D.Vitamin D toxicity is very rare and only happens if you take very high doses for extended periods. The main symptoms of toxicity include confusion, lack of concentration, drowsiness, depression, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, and high blood pressureWhere to Buy Vitamin D?In looking for sources, I found Amazon Elements which is Amazon now selling supplements. A bottle of Vitam D3 is 10.99 for 180 capsules if 5000IU vs Nature Made at 14.72 for the same bottle. Please remember, I'm not a doctor or a trainer. Please consult your logical doctor before taking supplements.

How does your church pick its leaders? Here’s what I’ve seen:Some churches pick old leaders who don’t have the ability for the workSome churches pick unqualified leaders who don’t have the character for the workSome churches pick young leaders who don’t have the spirituality for the workIn 1 Timothy 3:1-7, God describes the Christ-like leadership he wants to see in the church. The context is public worship and church order (1 Timothy 2). He then moves on to official church leadership.LEADERSHIP IS A GOOD ASPIRATIONThe work is important“The saying is trustworthy (1)”.All the other “faithful sayings” are about salvation through Christ. Paul is warning us that if we g wrong in church leadership and we’ll eventually go wrong in salvation. The desire is noble“If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task” (1).“Overseer” means supervisor, shepherd, pastor, elder. “Noble” means high and lofty. To “aspire” or “desire” means to stretch out for something.Christ-like leaders know the enormity of the task, and have the energy for the task.“So, if I want to be a church leader, I should be a church leader?”LEADERSHIP HAS HIGH QUALIFICATIONS“Therefore an oversee must be above reproach (2).“Above reproach” means a good reputation. Criticism has nothing to stick to. This qualification results from two characteristics: self-control and family controlSelf-control“The husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money” (2-3).Self-control sums up verses 2-3. The leader is to be self-controlled in sexual matters, behavior, thinking, studying, addictive substances, conflict, speech, finances, and so on.Family control“He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?” (4-5).Leading well in the home is an indicator that someone will lead well in the church.Self-control and family control are evidence of Holy Spirit control. Are you saying, “This doesn’t sound too hard”?LEADERSHIP STARTS DEVILISH OPPOSITIONThe devil wants to puncture you“He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil” (6).A balloon is filled with hot air, rises high in the sky and then bursts resulting in a catastrophic fall. That’s what the devil wants to do and the way he does it is giving us way too high thoughts about ourselves. The devil wants to trap you“Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil” (7).The devil wants to trap leaders because he knows that if he can bring down the leaders, he can bring down the church and hinder the spread of the Gospel. The devil targets leaders because he knows leaders are targeting him.LIVING THE BIBLE“Jesus, we worship you as the perfect leader. You aspired to leadership and were up to the task. You were perfectly qualified by your perfect self-control and family control. You defeated the most devilish opposition, puncturing and trapping the devil in the process. Help us to be (and find) able, qualified, and spiritual leaders who will be up to the work, suited to the work, and safe for the work.”You can catch up with previous episodes at the Living the Bible website or subscribe on
Freelancing is the process of selling your work/expertise on a project or contract basis. Usually you and the client will define a scope of work, and you will either work on a single payment based on the project or on an hourly rate.Freelancing can cover everything, but in this episode we are mainly focused on jobs paying over $50/hour (at a high level), which would cover most professional services in the USA and UK. If you are a Designer, Marketer, Manager, Programmer or you have a skill set that you know is sought after, then freelancing might be for you.Websites like PeoplePerHour and Upwork allow you to advertise your services to businesses. UK based - Worksome is more premium, and have lower competition than Fiverr, upwork and peopleperhourShould you set hourly prices or project prices?Define what your ideal client looks like.Create a portfolio that showcases your expertise and highlights relevant past experience. The purpose of your portfolio is to educate, spark interest, and convince potential clients that they'll want to choose you for their technical needs.Leaving video messages for people, or get them on the phone ASAP. It builds trust very quickly and increases conversion rates substantially.Finding clients on these platforms often leads to more work off the platform, so try and find ideal clients rather than jobs.Build the presentation as you work. This way you don't double the time. Present your work and then present future work. Try to focus the client brief down to set deliverables. I will do A or B for you, not vague goals like - “I will increase your social media presence” “I will get you 200 more followers by X date” Build your credibility fast. Most of these websites work off reviews, so try and get some low paying jobs first to build social proof. We're brought to you by onthejobmarketing.comIf you're a tradesperson, you need a website and marketing to get more customers. Hvordan får du kunder i butikken? Alligevel får du det her.

Lad mig prøve at illustrere hvorfor. You can now also find freelance jobs in London on Worksome UK
