When Madeline Kahn signed on for a limited tour of Hello, Dolly! In 1992, she had never seen the show, and the closest she’d gotten to performing in it was a Forbidden Broadway-style spoof called “The ‘Dolly’ Sisters” in a nightclub revue at the start of her career. Alongside Betty Aberlin (later of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood) and Fannie Flagg (author of Fried Green Tomatoes), Madeline mocked the original Broadway production, which was still running at the time. Margery Lowe has performed in New York and across the country in various national tours, as well as at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, The Muny, the Fox Atlanta, Theatre Off Park, Sanford Meisner Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre of Maine, Kansas City Starlight, Stages St. Louis, Maine State Theatre, Stage West, and many others. Additional Florida credits include GableStage, Zoetic Stage at the Arsht Center, Caldwell Theatre Company, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Actors’ Playhouse, and Stage Door Theatre.  Sherie L. What does ownership mean in the arts, and what can theatre be when it isn't a commodity? Why do we act in the first place, and are our stories and audiences changing? And what's going on with Samuel Beckett? Ben is in Calgary for a funny, fascinating and quite unique conversation with local actor and theatre artist, Andy Curtis. About the Guest Andy is a founding artist of Black Radish Theatre in Calgary, where he recently performed the role of Vladimir in the company's production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot. Andy is also a member of the One Yellow Rabbit's Ensemble, which creates original works in the Big Secret Theatre, performing and touring internationally for over 30 years. I sat down in my kitchen with Erica and we Skyped Cody in for a chat about life on Broadway, earning success early in your career, building relationships (and friendships) in theatre and the movie-like moments that changed both of their lives. Voices don't get much bigger than Erica Black.  Following her Dora-award nominated performance as Scaramouche in the original Canadian company of We Will Rock You, she starred as Mary Maguire in the world premier of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Boys in the Photograph and Lucy in You're A Good Man Charlie Brown (Stratford). Other credits include The Wedding Singer (Stage West), Songs for a New World (Angelwalk) and Penny Pingleton in Hairspray (Charlottetown). Starting June 16, you can catch Erica in Kinky Boots at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto!  Cody recently wrapped his role of Franz in Rock of Ages on Broadway. His previous credits include Rock of Ages (original Toronto company), Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Boys in the Photograph, Richard in A New Brain, Joseph in Joseph…Dreamcoat and Billy in Cedar Fair’s Twistin’ to the ’60s.  You can follow Erica and Cody on Instagram: @wildthingvintage (Erica) and @codyscottlancaster. You can also find Erica's vintage shop, Wildthing Vintage on Etsy!
