I have a message to share with women around the world, come join me and your global sisters for a weekly dose of Superhero Mum inspiration and stories. My mission -to help women and mothers globally to recover from relationship pain,  lead meaningful happy lives and inspire their children to succeed. NOTE – I need you to know that I don’t hate men! It’s important that you know there are many great men out there. Many fantastic fathers and single fathers trying hard to do a great job. I know little about the struggles of single fathers; however, I presume they are numerous common issues we share with these amazing men who strive to do the right thing by their children.

This week Ang is joined by the wonderful Dr. Tina Schermer Sellers. A licensed sex and gender feminist physiotherapist, author, researcher and professor whose expertise covers sex therapy, spiritual intimacy, parenting and social justice. In this expansive interview with Ang, Tina shares her valuable insights on the importance of creating strong bonds with your children. Sometimes that will be through difficult conversations and sometimes through your actions. However, being open and honest, as Tina explains, is a pathway to a wonderfully rewarding parent and child relationship. KEY TAKEAWAYS Tina has a wealth of experience and her services cover a broad range of subjects. But she didn’t just arrive there overnight. She explains to Ang how her early career as a therapist brought up more questions than answers and how that set her on a quest for knowledge. One of the big areas Tina tackles in her work is sex therapy. She explains to Ang how our attitudes about sex are developed from a very early age, and without knowing, embed behaviours in us so deeply we don’t even know they exist. Forming a bond of trust with your child is one of the most important things you can do as a parent. Ang and Tina discuss their individual experiences of having difficult conversations with their children and how this led to a stronger relationship with them in the long term. As Ang has highlighted many times in the past, being a single parent is one of the hardest jobs you can have. Drawing on her wealth of knowledge and years of experience, Tina gives her advice on how to approach this role. BEST MOMENTS “You don’t need to figure everything out, you just need to be two years ahead of your kids.” “Be brave enough to look at your past and then you can begin to heal your present.” “When you open up to your children you are communicating with them that you are brave enough to talk about hard subjects with them.” GUEST LINKS @DrTinaShameless Facebook TinaSSellers drtinaschermesellers www.TinaSchermerSellers.com EPISODE LINKS Use the link below to sign up to the TalkingParents App. 30 Day FREE trial available alongside a completely FREE option too! https://talkingparents.com/dirhm If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. Due to custody arrangements, it is often the case that mothers day falls on a day that is not your scheduled day with the kids, which can leave you feeling like you're missing out on your own special day. But, as Ang explains in this episode, you are not alone. Whether it’s finding a way to celebrate yourself or making alternate arrangements with your children, there is always a way to make mothers day a special time of the year, regardless of your situation. Ang discusses the importance of planning mothers day early as a single parent to navigate this new scenario. What if you can’t have your kids on mothers day? It might feel like the end of the world, but it isn’t as Ang has a solution! The time you do get to spend with your children on mothers day is special and should be treasured. This week Ang is joined by Steven Baron, published author, public speaker and a child psychologist who now works in a private practice after 30 years working in primary and secondary schools. Steven has a unique perspective and approach to child psychology, an approach that has been forged through years of seeing too many psychologists focusing on the negatives. In this interview with Ang, Steven discusses his methods, his experiences and his successes and how focusing on the good can change your child's life. KEY TAKEAWAYS After years of working in Schools with children, Steven became tired of the negative approach around child psychology and how the emphasis seemed to always be on finding out what “was wrong with the child.” He explains to Ang how he had a lightbulb moment that shifted his career after being commissioned to write a book. Steven breaks down his new approach to child psychology, focusing on ‘what’s going well’, and shares with Ang the positive effects this has on the children he works with A trait that is common in many parents that have just experienced divorce is to try and compartmentalise their emotions and not show them in front of their children. Steven discusses how this is a big mistake and offers ideas of healthier ways to approach dealing with your emotions. Ang and Steven discuss the importance of the teacher, parent, child triangle and how, ultimately, the child's relationship with their teachers as a role model is infinitely more important than the one of educator/student. BEST MOMENTS “Focusing on what is going right instead of what's going wrong can fundamentally change a child's mindset.” “It’s important to educate children about emotions and let them know that it’s ok to experience them.” “A child won’t remember what you taught them, they’ll remember how you made them feel.” EPISODE LINKS Guest Links https://www.drstevenbaron.com/ https://www.routledge.com/Teaching-with-a-Strength-Based-Approach-How-to-Motivate-Students-and-Build/Baron/p/book/9781032432571 Facebook: Dr Steven Baron / LinkedIn: Dr Steven Baron / Twitter @drstevenbaron1 Use the link below to sign up to the TalkingParents App. 30 Day FREE trial available alongside a completely FREE option too! https://talkingparents.com/dirhm To Connect With Me: htts://linktr.ee/angaab6 www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns To receive a FREE copy of my 7 Day Journey to Healing After Divorce, Join my Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/reclaimherpower If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. This week, Ang is here with a special Valentine's Day episode. Valentine's can be a hard time of year, especially if you’ve just been through a divorce or even if you’ve been on your own for some time. Traditions and expectations associated with the day can make us feel like we’re not good enough if we do indeed spend it alone. However, fear not, Ang is here to reframe Valentine’s Day for all those powerhouse single parents out there. In this episode, Ang breaks down how you can change your Valentine’s Day into a day where you celebrate the love you have for yourself and give yourself the best Valentine’s Day you have ever had. KEY TAKEAWAYS Ang’s first Valentine’s Day after her divorce started out as a very difficult day. But, a moment of realisation helped her change the narrative and have her best Valentine’s to date. She details her experience so that you can learn from it. Ang’s first tip for making Valentine’s Day a day to remember is to look back on how far you’ve come already and to find the positives. And, even if you don’t see them straight away, Ang reveals, they do exist. Valentine’s Day can act as a spotlight that shines on what you are missing and not what you have. But, Ang reminds you that being alone is not the same as loneliness and being by yourself can very well be an opportunity to grow. What if you reframed Valentine’s Day to celebrate the love you have for yourself? Ang lays out how this can work and how it will make you feel. BEST MOMENTS “It can take a lot of strength to pull yourself up when you’re in a difficult place, but doing so can be the most rewarding and healing thing you can do.” “Affirmations can feel foreign after a difficult relationship, but they can make such a positive difference in your life.” “If you don’t love yourself, now is a great time to start because we can’t expect anyone to love us if we don’t love ourselves.” EPISODE LINKS Use the link below to sign up to the TalkingParents App. 30 Day FREE trial available alongside a completely FREE option too! https://talkingparents.com/dirhm If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. This week on the show, Ang is delighted to be joined by its creator and founder Stephen Nixon. In this interview, Stephen explains how a family law case he was involved in made him realise that there was a practical solution to a universal problem faced by separated parents all over the world and, how his solution, ‘The TalkingParents App’, can lead to a healthy, court free relationship with your ex. KEY TAKEAWAYS ● When Stephen’s brother left the law firm that they had established together, Stephen found himself thrust into the world of family law. He explains how his experience on a particular case inspired him to launch the TalkingParents app. ● Whilst some relationships between parents can turn sour after a divorce, some do stay civil and, these people, do not see the need to record their communication. But, as Stephen explains, TalkingParents can be an effective tool, regardless of the relationship with your ex. ● One of the features on the TalkingParents app is the ‘shared calendar.’ Stephen explains how this is different to a regular calendar and how it enables both parties to have a comprehensive, up to date understanding of what they have agreed to. ● With a lot of parenting apps on the market these days it takes something special to stand out. Stephen details how TalkingParents, with its wide range of unique features, makes it a leader in the field. BEST MOMENTS “Even if your children don’t see the arguments they are still feeding off your emotions and that will negatively affect them.” “It’s amazing how much time is wasted in court with things that could have been resolved sooner.” “A lot of people that go to family court end up going back several times. In this interview with Ang, Lara gets into the fundamentals of how building a better you is the only way to build a lasting, loving romance. From learning to love and trust yourself, to attachment styles and understanding your values, the ladies cover it all so that 2025 can be the year you find the one. KEY TAKEAWAYS After going through cycles of negative and damaging relationships, Lara decided to look inward in an attempt to understand what attracted her to these types of partners. She shares her journey and how the things she discovered led her to where she is today. You will only ever attract what you think you are worth. Lara discusses the idea that most people have a deep rooted fear of ‘not being enough’ and how overcoming this can finally lead to happiness in love. Whilst friends and family can have the best intentions when giving relationship advice, they will always be biased. Lara talks about the process and importance of learning to trust yourself and your own feelings. Did you know that everyone has a different ‘attachment style’ which fundamentally affects the way you behave in a relationship. Lara explains what attachment styles are and how you can course correct if you have a negative one. BEST MOMENTS “It’s not about finding the perfect person, it’s about finding the person who is perfect for you.” “Our external world is a reflection of our internal world.” “Love is a fundamental human need and when we have it, we flourish.” EPISODE LINKS Guest Contact information; www.laraleecoaching.com http://linkedin.com/in/lara-lee-caine-5b7572b6 https://www.facebook.com/lara.filmer To connect with Ang use this link; https://linktr.ee/angaab6 Use the link below to sign up to the TalkingParents App. 30 Day FREE trial available alongside a completely FREE option too! https://talkingparents.com/dirhm If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. Welcome to the second part of Ang’s two part special on Christmas. There are so many traditions around Christmas and New Year and we always feel like we have to adhere to them to please others or because ‘that’s what Christmas should be’. However, in this episode Ang proposes a new way to approach Christmas and New Year. From doing away with New Year's resolutions to being selfish over the holidays, Ang is giving you the tools to start some new Christmas traditions and to make 2025 the best year yet. KEY TAKEAWAYS Christmas is different after a divorce, whether you want it to be or not. It took Ang a little while to work this out, but as she explains here, planning is the key to having the Christmas you want. You can’t control what other people do but, you can control how you respond. Ang talks about the concept of ‘Just Let Them’ and how it can help you cope with negative behaviours from others so that they don’t spoil this special time of year. Everyone makes a New Year's resolution, but how many of us really stick to them? Ang proposes an alternative “A Last Year Funeral”. She explains this concept, of letting go of the negativity in your life, and how it can make your new year the best yet. Ang shares the details of her Christmas gift to you and how it can help you through the festive period and move into the new year with a more positive mindset. BEST MOMENTS “Don’t look for others to make your life great, make it great yourself.” “You must live with the determination and awareness to move forward with a different mindset.” “Even if you believe in fate and destiny, you must take proactive action to make it happen.” EPISODE LINKS If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. This week Ang is joined by Lynn Schulte, birth healing specialist, pelvic health physiotherapist and founder of the ‘Institute for Birth Healing’, which helps women heal from all the issues they face after birth. Directly after birth all women shift their entire focus on to their newborn, any lingering pain or discomfort the mother may feel is chalked up to ‘the difficulty of giving birth’. But, what most women don’t realise is that the trauma of giving birth can lead to pain, both mental and physical, that will last a lifetime if it is not addressed. In this episode, Lynn covers the whole topic of birth related trauma, the consequent pain and how to heal in the short term so that your body and mind are where they need to be. KEY TAKEAWAYS With 30 years of experience as a physiotherapist Lynn had to move states and start her practice from scratch. It was here that she discovered a revelation that led to her work with postnatal women. Giving birth is a beautiful, yet traumatic, experience. Lynn explains how the body and mind react to this trauma and how the pain and problems that women experience after birth are a direct result of this trauma. Once the trauma associated with the pain is identified it is time to work on healing. Lynn breaks down how she works with her patients to heal their bodies, and their minds. Lynn talks about the various positions that women lie in when giving birth and how they affect the resulting pain and problems they can incur post birth. BEST MOMENTS “Our issues remain in our tissues until we get help with them.” “The cells of our body get stuck in that place of trauma and we need to heal them so we can move into present day awareness.” “You can need from the mind alone, you have to reconnect it to your mind." https://directory.instituteforbirthhealing.com/ https://centerforbirthhealing.com/ https://youtu.be/JRUPAwTN1P4?si=GH1srYGpyNlhFuKD EPISODE LINKS If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. Ang has been having a few technical difficulties with the podcast in recent weeks and has spent quite a bit of time trying to overcome them. Whilst it was initially getting her down, with the help of some friends, she powered through, after realising why she started the show in the first place - to spread positivity. Inspired by these events, Ang has dedicated this week's episode to managing your time and random acts of kindness, to help you realise that what you need the most, might be right in front of you.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Our lives can become so busy with ‘stuff' that we sometimes don't have the time to stop and realise what we're doing. When Ang's working hours got in the way of her spending time with her children she decided to do a time audit and reevaluate where, and with whom, she spends her time.  We all have a habit of saying ‘yes' to everything. Either out of kindness, or from a fear of letting others down. However, as Ang has discovered, and explains, saying ‘no' can have huge benefits to you and those around you. How often do you stop to ‘smell the roses'? Ang has realised how there are many thing in her life that she should be grateful for, but how they are easily missed if we don't take a moment to acknowledge them. Something that hit home for Ang when her friends helped her  fix her podcast issues is that kindness is free. But more than that, it makes you feel good as well as the person you're helping. Ang reflects on this and shares the many simple ways you can bring a little joy to someone's life.  BEST MOMENTS “Time becomes more valuable the more you realise it's running out.” “Saying no will create the space that you need to say yes to the things that nourish you and make you feel good.” “Forgive yourself for a past mistake and remind yourself that you are doing the best that you can.”   EPISODE LINKS If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. Dominic's company focuses on helping people with lifestyle wealth planning. Where most financial advisors will advise you in ways that benefit them, and their cut of your money, Dominic approaches financial advice from a wellbeing point of view. In this interview with Ang, Dominic outlines the steps and strategies he uses that can help you achieve healthy, financial wellbeing.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Dominic's father lost his parents at a very early age and, as a result, found himself to be financially independent. Dominic later discovered that the people advising his father about his finances did not have his best interests at heart. Dominic explains how this led him on the path to forming Xentum Ltd. Most financial advisors will ask you how much money you have and then try to increase that amount by investing and/or attempting to save you from paying a high tax bill. Dominic outlines how his service offers something different - financial advice from a humanistic point of view.  Most of us spend our lives trying to achieve financial wellbeing. Dominic lays out his tried and tested method on how he helps his clients get there.  Through his work with his clients, Dominic realised that most of them were also in need of emotional support. This week on the show Ang is joined by Nadine Pittam, accredited psychotherapist and host of the “This Won't Fix You”. Nadine specialises in working with clients who experience intense feelings of love and are prone to obsessions, or more commonly referred to as ‘love addicts'.  The majority of Nadine's work centres around helping people come to terms with the loss of a loved one, the very definition of divorce. In this interview with Ang, Nadine addresses what physiotherapy actually is, its benefits and shares some fascinating insights on how we feel about our feelings.   KEY TAKEAWAYS  ●      A lot of people have predetermined ideas of what psychotherapy entails, mainly based on its portrait in the movies. However, Nadine describes what therapy really entails and the benefits that come from it. ●      Trauma can present itself in multiple ways and, sometimes, they are not always obvious. Nadine and Ang discuss some of the ways trauma can manifest and why it is important to address it before it takes hold. ●      After experiencing a divorce it is very common to suddenly feel incomplete, to feel that our ‘other half' has disappeared. Nadine explains the importance of acknowledging these feelings and the steps you can take to process these thoughts.  ●      Those people that do enter into therapy use it as a tool to get past the impending crisis they are facing. However, as Nadine explains, those that enter into therapy for the long haul have an opportunity to transform their lives in ways they never thought possible.     BEST MOMENTS “Whoever you are or whatever you've done, your behaviour makes sense.” “Therapy isn't talking about your feelings, it's talking about how you feel about your feelings.” “If you keep something in the dark for long enough, it will develop.”   EPISODE LINKS If you enjoy this podcast here is the link to the book 'Do I Really H*te Men?'. Following on from her episodes on dating, this week, Ang is taking a look at the red flags to look out for when becoming involved with a potential new partner. When you meet someone new and the sparks fly it's sometimes easy to overlook what appear to be negative behaviours and regard them as ‘a one off'. However, these negative behaviours are often a sign of things to come. From controlling behaviours to love bombing and jealousy to communication, Ang is here to tell you her ten most common red flags, how to spot them early and, ultimately, how to make sure you find the partner you deserve.    KEY TAKEAWAYS Communication in any relationship is crucial. And it's crucial to make sure it's right from day one. Ang discusses the red flags to look out for regarding communication. When Ang was dating someone early after her divorce she realised that some of his behaviours were not normal and were causing Ang to adjust her lifestyle. She talks about the dangers of controlling behaviours and how to look out for them. How do you know something might be a red flag? Ang tells you the one question you can ask yourself to be certain whether your potential future partner is displaying any behaviours to be cautious of.  Meeting someone new is extremely exciting and can lead to emotions spiralling out of control. However, someone who can not control those emotions can begin to “Love Bomb”. Ang explains the concept of love bombing and how it's actually a red flag to look out for.     BEST MOMENTS “If you can have red flags in your mind before you go on your date it can save you a lot of time and heartache.” “Controlling behaviours can begin as something small and innocent. So, be aware of them before they grow out of proportion.”   “Real love takes time to build and should evolve at a natural pace.”   EPISODE LINKS To Join the Priority List for the new book Do I Really H*te Men? - click this link https://www.inspiredbybooks.co.uk/do-i-really-hate-men To Join The Divorce and Single Parent Club https://patreon.com/user?u=114049946&utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLink https://linktr.ee/angaab6 www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns To receive a FREE copy of my Divorce Success or my Parenting Success Tips - please e-mail me at Ang@doireallyhatemen.com ABOUT THE PODCAST Do I Really Hate Men? This week Ang is diving into the subject of childcare, in its various forms. Moving from co-parenting to single parenting comes with many challenges. But it also comes with many logistical changes that aren't always apparent when you are first going through the process of divorce. The biggest of these is, who will look after your children when you and your partner are not available? In this episode, Ang breaks down the many childminding challenges she encountered and how she worked through to find solutions that worked for everyone KEY TAKEAWAYS In a marriage when you are unable to collect your children from school, your partner can do it. However this is not always the case once you have been through a divorce. Ang recollects the many aspects of her life that were affected by this change and how she overcame them. Reluctantly, Ang advertised for a childcarer. And, luckily, she found an angel. She talks about coming to this decision and the unexpected joy it brung to both her and her children. Once Ang recovered from her divorce and started dating again she realised that leaving her children with different babysitters every week was both expensive and unsettling. So, she wrestled with the idea of leaving them home alone. She discusses her thought process and the benefits of the decision she made.   BEST MOMENTS   “The right carer doesn't just look after your children, they give you the gift of knowing your children are safe.” “Sometimes we need somebody that isn't us to show us what to do.” “When you're a single parent your time with your children becomes more precious. Your Children Are Not Weapons - When Access Goes Bad

This week Ang is addressing the topic of access to your children and when it can turn sour. One of the hardest things about divorce is having a third party decide when you can and can't see your own children. However, the court's decision is only the start of the painful process of access. Not only does it have a profound emotional impact on your children but it also deeply affects the parents, that can, and oftentimes does, lead to people making bad or selfish decisions. But, Ang is here to help guide you through this difficult time and explain how you can be the parent your child needs.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Most women that go through a divorce will unfortunately hear their children say “I hate you, I want to live with dad.” But what is the true meaning behind these words and what is the best thing you can do to help your children? Ang explains.  When a court rules on which parent gets to see the children at what times it doesn't always have the insight the parents do. This can lead to parents withholding access of their children to their ex partner. Ang explains why this is sometimes a necessary evil.  However, some parents can use their children as weapons and withhold access to their ex partners for cruel and malicious purposes. Ang recounts when this happened to her and the fallout is caused.  Don't underestimate your children's ability to see what is happening to you during this hard time. As much as you are mindful of their emotions, they are mindful of yours. Ang shares an incredible story of how her toddler comforted her during a particularly hard time.  BEST MOMENTS “Watching your child distressed and with tears in their eyes is something no parent wants to see.” “Your child's emotional wellbeing is more important than any court order.” “Try to balance the good with the bad and try to keep your deep dark emotions controlled.” EPISODE LINKS https://www.instagram.com/doireallyhatemen/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558725612414 www.tiktok.com/@angallanburns www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns e-mail ang@doireallyhatemen.com ABOUT THE PODCAST Do I Really Hate Men? This week on the show Ang is continuing to share her wisdom on the subject of children and divorce. Instinct tells us to put our children first when going through a divorce. As a parent you want to shield them from everything, but this can come at a cost. In this episode, Ang shares her insights on how best to be there for your children, and it is by taking care of yourself first and foremost. Because, as Ang explains, by looking after yourself you can look after your children which encourages them to look after themselves and you.  KEY TAKEAWAYS It is the most natural thing in the world to want to spend time with your children after going through a divorce, but it is also vitally important to spend time by yourself. Ang talks about her approach to this and tells you how to spot opportunities that you might not have otherwise seen.  Divorce is a big event in anyone's life and the emotions that come with it can easily amplify the significance of all other problems you are facing. Ang's stepmom shared some words of wisdom with her that helped her realise this and prioritise, and Ang is about to share them with you.   Spending time with your children is incredibly important, but what's more important is being able to communicate effectively with them. Ang shares her top tips on how to communicate with the younger generation. While you're busy looking out for your children, what you might miss is that they are looking out for you too. For this reason, Ang explains why it's crucial to show your children that you are not invincible and how being vulnerable around them will encourage them to be vulnerable around you.   BEST MOMENTS “The flipside of spending time with your children is that you also need to give yourself time too.” “It can be extremely difficult to communicate when there is friction.” “It's an essential part of parenting that you look after yourself too. KEY TAKEAWAYS Amber was married at the age of 18, and like so many, looked past the red flags and thought ‘things will get better.' However, as her marriage went on, things got worse. She discusses the cycle of abuse that led her to get divorced 17 years later.  At the age of 31 Amber was diagnosed with breast cancer, she prayed that this might be a blessing in disguise and make her husband change his ways, but he remained the same. Amber explains how this was the moment she began to come to terms with the reality of her relationship.  Amber had four children with her ex husband, but what she discovered is that he used them as pawns to manipulate her and their relationship. This week on the show Ang is tackling the subject of parenting through divorce. It is most people's conception that the way to guide your children through divorce is by smothering them with love. However, through Ang's own experience with her two boys, she has found that this is simply not the case. In this episode Ang shares her lessons learned and top tips and tricks to help you help your children as they navigate the turbulent waters of divorce.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Society labels children whose parents have divorced as those who have come from a “broken home”. However, as Ang explains, through her own experience, a broken home is not what society thinks it is.  It is vitally important to care and protect your children during and after divorce, but this might come from ‘direct parenting'. Ang talks about how being the best version of you is the best thing you can do for them. After a divorce most children feel like they've suddenly got less in their lives. Ang addresses this by sharing and explaining her number one tip - be present.  Finally, Ang has some good news to share as a result of the success of the podcast.  BEST MOMENTS “Parenting is without doubt the hardest job you will ever love.” “Your children don't need you to save them, they need to watch you save yourself.” “You might not be perfect, but striving for it everyday is a gift you give your children for life.”   EPISODE LINKS https://www.instagram.com/doireallyhatemen/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558725612414 www.tiktok.com/@angallanburns www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns e-mail ang@doireallyhatemen.com ABOUT THE PODCAST Do I Really Hate Men? This week, Ang is excited to welcome her first ever male guest - Andy Baker, a behaviour specialist, author, podcaster, speaker and entrepreneur. Specialising in behaviour management in adult and child social care for over 20 years, Andy went through a divorce in 2014. His partner had a son from a previous relationship and, over the years, Andy became his father. Once the divorce was finalised, Andy was determined to not lose his son. With his expertise in behaviour management and through time and patience, he was able to continue a positive relationship with his son and ex-partner. In this interview with Ang, Andy explains the steps he took and how you can adopt them to help your child through a divorce with less trauma.  KEY TAKEAWAYS When a relationship ends people often turn to their nearest and dearest for advice, however, Andy and his ex partner took the step of working with a separation counsellor. He explains what this is, how the process works and what he and his partner gained from the experience.   When Andy entered into his previous relationship his partner already had a son, who Andy formed a strong bond with. Once his relationship ended, Andy wanted to continue being a father to him. He talks about how that process developed post relationship and the string bond that continues to this day.  Children do not have the same depth of social experience and brain development as adults. Andy explains how children view divorce differently from their parents and how you can make that an easier emotional experience for them. If you have gone through a divorce, your child or children are in pain. But, how do you identify how this pain manifests and what can you do to help them? Andy details the signs to look out for and how to respond.  BEST MOMENTS “Children interpret the world and the things they hear in a different way to adults. Try to be mindful of your behaviour and speech around them.” “The child that gets angry is easy to identify, the child that goes into withdrawal is harder to spot, but they still need the same level of nurturing and support.” “When you are a parent, you are your own boss, your own manager. So you've got to be the best employee, but also the best manager you can be.” GUEST LINKS https://linktr.ee/abletocare?utm_source=linktree_profile_share<sid=cdb62129-6ebb-4a41-9d06-39039a8d7d44 https://www.instagram.com/andybakerable  EPISODE LINKS https://www.instagram.com/doireallyhatemen/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558725612414 www.tiktok.com/@angallanburns www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns e-mail ang@doireallyhatemen.com ABOUT THE PODCAST Do I Really Hate Men? After a divorce your life changes. In fact, if anything, that's what a divorce is, a fundamental change in your life. But, even though your life has changed, life around continues to move forward. In this week's episode Ang looks back on key life events such as holidays and special occasions, how they come around no matter where you are, how they suddenly feel different, but most importantly, if you ‘get on with it', how they will bring you a new kind of joy and happiness.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Behaving with dignity can sometimes be hard when you are going through divorce, especially if your ex partner is playing dirty. But, when there are children involved, it is essential to rise above it. Ang shares her learnings on this to help you act with grace. Everything changes after a divorce, not just the things you expect to change. Ang had this realisation when it was time to book her first ‘post-divorce' family holiday. She talks about the challenges this presented but also the rewards that came with it.  Whilst your life changes after a divorce, the rest of the world seems to stay the same, especially with annual events such as mothers day. Ang discusses how events like mothers day can take on a whole new meaning after a divorce for both you and your children.  BEST MOMENTS “The only thing you can ever have control over in your life is your own thoughts, feelings and actions.” “It's a natural human reaction to think “an eye for an eye”, but if you learn to rise above it, you will instantly see the benefits.” “Children see more than we give them credit for, so don't try and hide it from them, because they can see it anyway.”   EPISODE LINKS https://www.instagram.com/doireallyhatemen/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558725612414 www.tiktok.com/@angallanburns www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns e-mail ang@doireallyhatemen.com ABOUT THE PODCAST Do I Really Hate Men? Unfortunately divorce comes hand in hand with a barrage of negative emotions. And it is these emotions that linger with us, control us and, if not addressed, can influence who we become. Recovery from a divorce is, put simply, moving on from negative emotions. But, this is not as easy as it sounds. Ang has experienced all the negative emotions associated with divorce first hand, and, in this week's episode, she is here to guide you through her top 5 coping strategies to move past these emotions and begin the journey to being the best version of you.  KEY TAKEAWAYS It's OK to not be OK. Negative emotions are all part of the human experience, we have all felt them in the past and will feel them in the future. Ang shares, from her experience, how to cope with these emotions so that they don't end up controlling you. Just after her divorce, Ang received some bad news that threatened to spoil her valentines day. She recounts how she overcame these negative emotions by learning to love herself.  We often look to friends and family for help and support when we are experiencing hard times but, as Ang learnt and explains, only you have the power to change your world.  Advice, strategies and plans are all great but, without action, they are meaningless. Ang shares her tips on how to move from the planning stage to the action stage and how to keep going once you get there.     BEST MOMENTS “When we fail to feel better, we beat ourselves up and end up spiralling, but if we fight back, we can feel better.” “You need to learn to be good to yourself, to love yourself.” “Stop trying to be the finished article, instead, continue to learn and move forward. Take every opportunity to grow.”   EPISODE LINKS DIRHM Instagram DIRHM Facebook DIRHM TikTok Ang's Linkedin  Ang@doireallyhatemen.com ABOUT THE PODCAST Do I Really Hate Men? The Divorce Doula: A Journey of Emotional and Spiritual Rebirth with Farhana Hussain

This week, Ang is joined by Farhana Hussain, a divorce doula. Farhana is one of only a handful of divorce doula's in the UK, but what exactly are they? Doula comes from the Greek term for a wise woman that traditionally helped other women through childbirth. Much the same, Farhana now helps women through the emotional and spiritual rebirth they experience as a part of divorce. Described by her clients as a real life fairy godmother, Farhana breaks down her methods, logic and how your life can be transformed when you work with a divorce doula KEY TAKEAWAYS What exactly is a divorce doula? Farhana explains not only what a divorce doula does, but how she discovered, through her own divorce, that that's what she wanted to become.  Farhana explains how the process of going through a divorce is a spiritual and emotional rebirth, and how, if approached in the correct way, can transform your life into something you never expected. Divorce isn't just hard on you and your partner, but is extremely hard for your children too. Recognising this, Farhana has developed a ‘child centric' approach to her work, which she details here.  Farhana explains how, in the early stages of your divorce, a doula can help you where a lawyer can't, which can save you a lot of emotional and financial stress.  BEST MOMENTS “You have to move through your emotions, not just ignore them and hope they'll go away, because they won't.” “As a doula I am rebirthing the new version of you.” “Even though divorce is becoming more common, there is still a lot of stigma around it and guilt and shame attached to it.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.instagram.com/doireallyhatemen/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558725612414 www.tiktok.com/@angallanburns www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns e-mail ang@doireallyhatemen.com EPISODE LINKS Farhana's Website Farhana's Linkdin Farhana's Instagram Unmasked Community ABOUT THE PODCAST Do I Really Hate Men? The Divorce Lawyer: The Legalities of Divorce with Adela Manzoor

This week Ang is joined by Adela Manzoor, a public speaker, podcaster and family lawyer. The emotional aspect of divorce is extremely difficult for all involved, but the legal aspect can be even harder. Suddenly, you find yourself in real conflict with a person that you have spent a lifetime loving and caring for. But there is hope. As Adela explains in this interview, not all lawyers are there to bleed you dry and move onto the next client. A good lawyer will become your friend, your confidant, and in some cases, your counsellor. But how do you pick the right lawyer and what should you prepare yourself for? KEY TAKEAWAYS Adela, who wanted to help her clients through divorce, talks about how she underestimated the emotional challenges of the job and shares how this aspect changed her perception of divorce proceedings.  What are the main things to look for when hiring a divorce lawyer? As Adela explains, most people think it's someone that can get the job done, quickly and cheaply, but there are far more important factors to consider.  Adela breaks down, in simple terms, the process of going through a divorce, from initial meetings with your lawyer, to first negotiations, right through to court procedure.  Adela outlines the difference between a clean break divorce and one where you still have legal ties to your ex partner, and the advantages and disadvantages of each.  BEST MOMENTS “You need to find a lawyer that doesn't just help you on the legal side, but on the emotional side too.” “Try to be humble, try to let go of your ego, try to go through mediation. If you don't, things can get nasty, and expensive, very fast.” “There's a lot at stake when you go to court, which in turn can stir emotions and lead to hostile behaviour.” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.instagram.com/doireallyhatemen/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558725612414 www.tiktok.com/@angallanburns www.linkedin.com/in/angallanburns e-mail ang@doireallyhatemen.com EPISODE LINKS Radshaw Solicitors Instagram  Radshaw Solicitors Linkdin  Adela's Solicitors Linkdin  ABOUT THE PODCAST Do I Really Hate Men?
