Brooke talks to film director Rick Stanton about his film "Spectrum," which he wrote and directed. The film offers a unique portrayal of autism through the lens of his brother, who plays the lead character. Rick discusses the creative process behind the film, including the decision to cast authentically and the artistic choices that contribute to its raw, realistic feel. He emphasises the importance of showcasing the everyday struggles faced by individuals with disabilities, moving away from the often cutesy representations seen in mainstream media. The episode also looks into the film's themes of worth and opportunity, as well as the impact of genuine storytelling on audiences. KEY TAKEAWAYS "Spectrum" aims to portray the life of an adult with autism authentically, challenging the common, often cutesy or childlike depictions seen in media. The lead character is played by the director's brother, who has autism, to ensure a genuine representation. The film is shot in black and white and in a 4:3 aspect ratio to reflect the lead character's limited worldview. This artistic choice enhances the viewer's connection to the character's experiences and emotions. The narrative is inspired by real-life events, including a traumatic incident the director experienced. This personal connection adds depth and authenticity to the story, allowing for a more relatable exploration of autism. The film features authentically cast actors with disabilities, which contributes to the film's realism. The casting process involved leveraging the strengths of the actors, allowing for natural performances that resonate with the audience. The film emphasises the worth of individuals with disabilities and critiques societal dismissiveness. It aims to inspire viewers to reflect on their perceptions and interactions with people on the autism spectrum, encouraging a more empathetic understanding of their experiences. BEST MOMENTS "In the film, the film basically delves into what life is like for an adult with autism." "We wanted to depict how my brother's life actually is, where he's just like everybody else and has the same emotional range and troubles." "Sometimes people with disabilities can just be sort of disregarded before they've even had a chance." "On paper, it's extremely boring... but that's the scene that seems to resonate the most with the autistic community." "It was important to us to never sort of bang on about disability." How to Invest 10k

In this episode, Rob and Kane share how they would invest 10k to get the best return. They explore everything from traditional investments like gold and property to newer opportunities in cryptocurrency and digital assets. Rob talks about the power behind diversification in investing and why passion can make all the difference, as well as the importance of age appropriate investing, risk management, and the crucial balance between making and maintaining wealth. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are three ways property makes you money: it goes up in value over time, generates rental income, and can be bought below market value. This magical triad is an advantage that makes property unique compared to other investments. Your age should influence how you invest, younger people can take bigger risks because they have time to recover, while older investors should focus more on protecting their wealth and generating steady income. Digital investments (like website domains) can make good money but are riskier than physical assets. Someone can't "turn off" your gold or property like they can a website. Making money requires focus and taking calculated risks, while keeping money needs a more careful, diversified approach. Master both skills to build lasting wealth. Real investing beats practice investing every time, putting even a small amount of real money into something teaches you more than pretending with fake money. There are four key money skills to develop: making it, managing it, growing it, and keeping it. Each needs its own strategy and approach. BEST MOMENTS "In order to make money, you need to be aggressive, in order to keep money, you need to be defensive... Diversification reduces risk, but diversification dilutes focus." "The more you enjoy something, the better you're going to know it." "If you don't like property, what's the point in putting money into property? You can make investing strategies bespoke to you." "They can take everything from you except your experience and knowledge." "Only when you invest in the thing do you know how to invest in the thing. So paper trading, paper investing is just a game of Monopoly, doesn't mean anything." "The more money you have, you get the money working for you. The less money you have, you have to work for the money." Is university a scam? Rob talks about why he thinks university is at best outdated and at worst a scam in this episode. He shares why many people would be far better off not going to university at all, the alternatives to further education and the potential ulterior motives the government have for wanting as many people as possible to get a degree.   KEY TAKEAWAYS The average student leaves with 45k in debt, to earn 30k when they leave. Students are sold a future that isn't the reality. Most students will leave university with huge debt and in some cases a worse salary than if they hadn't gone. You can't get the education you need at university about newer technology and online spaces such as AI and content creation. There is still a need for universities for more practical courses, such as medicine. Going to university is good for the system, it means you are in debt, pay them interest and pay them taxes. You don't then have the freedom to create your own business. Think about the ulterior motive for universities and colleges, especially when you consider education for things like medicine should be free as they serve the public. It's not just a cost to students to attend university but frequently their family and parents too.   BEST MOMENTS  "In creative arts, people earn more than if they didn't go to uni” “No ones really done it long enough for the information to trickle down to university, if you do marketing they don't really touch on social media at all” “There's nothing in podcasting at university at all” “The system wants you for debt, interest and taxes” “It can take 30 years to repay a student loan” “Why should we have to get in debt for the rest of our lives to be a doctor?”  "It benefits them for you to be in more debt"  VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. Join the High Performance Health Collective - https://angelafosterperformance.com/hph-collective/  Angela is joined by John Lieurance to talk about the critical role of mitochondria in our health, explaining how these cellular structures convert glucose and oxygen into ATP, the energy currency of the body. The discussion highlights the importance of mitochondrial efficiency, linking it to overall health and the aging process KEY TAKEAWAYS Mitochondria are essential for energy production in the body, converting glucose and oxygen into ATP, which serves as the energy currency for cellular functions. The efficiency of this process is crucial for overall health. As individuals age, mitochondrial efficiency tends to decline, leading to reduced energy production and increased oxidative stress, which is linked to various diseases and the aging process. Infection and toxicity are primary stressors that negatively impact mitochondrial health. Addressing these factors is vital for maintaining energy levels and overall well-being. The health of the body's "doorways" (nasal passage, mouth, and colon) is critical in preventing infections and managing inflammation. Keeping these areas healthy can significantly improve inflammation levels in the body. BEST MOMENTS "In essence, your body uses glucose and oxygen, and this gets combined in a structure called a mitochondria." "When we run out of energy, we don't have the ability to express health, and then disease presents itself based on certain genetics and certain environmental triggers." "There's two primary stressors that generally will have a negative impact on our health and our life force. And that's going to be infection and toxicity." "Endotoxins are incredibly inflammatory, and so the primary three doorways are the nasal passage, the mouth, and the mucosa." In this episode, Dr Dunni, an award-winning mom empowerment coach and family medicine doctor, shares an inspiring story about a seed that transforms its painful, dark experience into a journey of growth and fulfilment. Drawing parallels between the seed's struggle and the challenges mothers face, she emphasizes the importance of acknowledging feelings of darkness, shame, and pain as opportunities for introspection and personal development. Dr Dunni encourages mothers to communicate their emotions to their children, fostering an environment where both can learn to navigate difficult feelings together.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Just like a seed that experiences darkness and discomfort before it grows, individuals, especially mothers, can find strength and potential in their challenging moments. Mothers need to communicate their feelings of pain, shame, or fear to themselves and their children. This openness helps children understand that it's okay to express their emotions and fosters a supportive environment for emotional growth. Mothers often prioritize the needs of their children over their own. Recognizing the importance of self-nourishment is crucial for personal well-being and enables mothers to be more present and engaged with their children. In times of loss or despair, it's essential to reflect on one's identity and potential. Understanding who you are beyond your roles and accomplishments can lead to deeper self-awareness and resilience. Children learn by observing their parents. By demonstrating how to process emotions and respond to challenges rather than react impulsively, mothers can teach their children valuable coping skills and emotional intelligence.   BEST MOMENTS "In that cold, dark, uncomfortable situation, the seed started to cry out for help. But nobody heard it." "The richest place in the world is the graveyard. Why? Because a lot of people have died carrying a lot of potential to the graves with them." "When we are nourishing others, we feel replenished, we feel happy. But we have not placed as much value on nourishing ourselves." "Sometimes when people say, who are you, we start to think about all our qualifications and our accomplishments. But who are you talks about who you really are." In today's episode, Eveline will take us on a journey through the eyes of Gen Z, exploring how this tech-savvy generation is reshaping fashion trends with their sustainability-driven preferences and digital-first mindset. We'll delve into the exciting world where AI becomes a fashion statement and discuss how emerging technologies are transforming not just what we wear, but how we interact with fashion itself. KEY TAKEAWAYS AI is immolating the brain. I decided I need to be influencing in neuroscience as well as fashion. I've always been interested in smart textiles, functional textiles was always a big thing in Switzerland.  When designing my own clothes with a designer from Project Runway, I saw the beautiful craft of pattern making – it's an art that should never be lost. But with ecommerce, I saw the integration of technology and my university was right at the forefront of teaching this. Especially with AI or quantum computing on the horizon, we are going to find so many cures. AI has influenced, sped up, replaced and helped so many doctors, especially during the pandemic. Surgeries can be doing online with a doctor in another country, the digitisation of the industry is phenomenal. I was trained as a ‘nose' when studying in Geneva, olfaction is a very big issue for me and I love how it influences your wellbeing. Digital health is picking up on that, perfumeries are working together with health experts for mental health purposes. The senses can change a person's wellbeing and attitude. BEST MOMENTS ‘In-bound social media traffic can improve how quickly you can sell and get recognition.' ‘Brain-computer interfaces, near-eye computer interfaces, moving into spatial computing, all this is coming.' ‘The best quality is still handmade in my opinion.' ‘AI is trying to emulate the brain, but I don't think it ever will because there are new studies coming out every day about consciousness, where memories are stored, etc.' ABOUT THE GUEST Eveline Ruehlin is a dynamic and multilingual innovator at the forefront of global emerging technology. A fervent supporter of mentoring the next generation, Eveline is committed to sharing her knowledge, positive mindset, and leadership skills with young professionals entering the tech industry. Her personal interests in skiing, hiking, and outdoor activities mirror her professional ethos of resilience and exploration. Eveline's thought leadership extends to the realm of fashion tech, where she explores how AI and emerging technologies are reshaping the industry. She is particularly interested in how Gen Z and Gen Alpha influence fashion trends through their tech-savvy perspectives and sustainability-driven preferences. But, we always have to look internally before we can form partnerships with other people. Are we ready to for partnerships or relationships with other people? Have we got our own house in order? That's what people really need more than the external things, but I don't think people realise it, people get caught up with having the fancy car, the big house, the swimming pool, the holidays, they think that's the most important thing but inner peace is what they're looking for, the rest is stuff that makes people feel better. Having a raison d'etre – a reason for being – is what drives people. When people are struggling they don't feel like they have a purpose. If I'm struggling I try to do something that I know is going to be beneficial, like eating better, getting more sleep, doing more exercise, the simple things. If we revert back to when we were happiest when we're struggling and think about what we were doing, we can see what serves us. Have you got a roof over your head? If you have, you're doing great. Does it matter how much you've got in the bank? Not really, as long as you're living within your means. Does it matter whether you've got a 24 plate car or an 06 plate car? A car is just something that gets you from A to B, it doesn't matter how much it costs, that's just status, whether it's a Bentley or a Mini it's still a car. BEST MOMENTS ‘In order to be part of something greater you need to concentrate on self first'. ‘Happiness is a choice, every day when we wake up most of us have a choice about what they do in the 24 hours of their day'. ‘You may not be able to afford the swanky gym that your friends go to, but you can walk round the local park, some of which have exercise equipment in them that are free. Adapt and form your own gym'. ‘Lots of people have great externals, but internally they're so unhappy because they're living above their means and paying things off which is causing them more stress'. On this episode Kat is joined by Francesca McClory, who is killing it in her business in Future Cloud Accounting and who has been on the most incredible life journey, who talks about when you put your mind to something and believe you can do it, you really can. KEY TAKEAWAYS So many people stay stuck and don't dare change something because of the unknown of what will be next. I've embraced that, I don't want to stand still and be unhappy. My first marriage ended because I sensed something wasn't right just weeks before the wedding. He admitted he was unsure he wanted to go through with it, if someone's unsure about something weeks before you shouldn't go through with it just to save face. It's uncomfortable starting again, I was humiliated but I'm so much happier now. I do little challenges with myself which is how I got into fitness training while running a business, because so many people told me I wouldn't have time to do it. Training has helped me run a better business, even if it comes across as selfish, I'd rather  make time to do the things that make me happy, otherwise what's the point? The stronger you get and the more you achieve through doing an activity, the more you look after your body, it makes you more confident about yourself and your abilities in your friendships and relationships. Unless I'm injured, I'm always doing something. You have to have a balance on LinkedIn. To me it's simple: You either share your solutions to people's problems, share some motivation, but the more you help others the better, you won't necessarily get something back – you shouldn't do it for that – but just watch what happens. BEST MOMENTS “In order to do certain things in life you've got to get uncomfortable.” “Fitness is absolutely key in life.” “Comparison is good, to a point, for inspiration. But, if you're spending too long looking into other people's lives and feeling unhappy in your own, that's where you've got to think ‘what am I doing?'” “I became an accountant because I realised that everybody needs an accountant and I love businesses.” ABOUT THE GUEST Francesca McClory is the managing director of Future Cloud Accounting and co-founder of Quirq –  a personal branding agency. Whilst working as an accountant with various businesses including retail, construction, cafes, bars, restaurants and farms, Francesca discovered a passion for helping businesses find solutions to help them grow. She also loves how using cloud technology to its full potential then enables businesses to make better decisions. LinkedIn Website ABOUT THE HOST Kat started her career as a teacher, before moving into Tech where she worked in different executive roles within teaching and consulting working across the globe, both in the public and private sector. Despite appearing 'successful' on the outside, she paid a heavy ‘life' price. In 2016, her whole world collapsed. The reason? The compound effect of years of unhealthy and toxic habits that destroyed her health, relationship and career. She suffered a severe breakdown and lost everything. Flip The Switch: Dr. Teri Baydar on Shifting from 'War Consciousness' to Higher Awareness

On this episode of the Lead With Purpose podcast host, Tze Ching Yeung talks to Dr Teri Baydar, a leadership development coach & author, about her book, ‘Flip The Switch'. KEY TAKEAWAYS The book is about the 2 forms of consciousness that most humans experience (only 3-4% of us don't). We live in a state of almost perpetual conflict, inner and outer, which I call ‘war consciousness' and it stems from the structure of the left brain where we spend way too much time trying to fix things, tactically/practically figure things out, where we feel like we have to capture, contain and control something out there. Systemically we've pushed ourselves as a species more and more into that kind of consciousness which is really bad for us. The other form of consciousness inhabits the right brain and that is where we take a step back, relax and know that pretty much everything is OK. From that state of mind we seek to comprehend, we want to connect with people, with life, we build relationships and solve problems. We're open to not needing to be right or wrong and to solving the problem from a higher sense of consciousness. We have created a system – economically, socially – that has certain outcomes that are undesirable, such as trashing the planet, but we keep doing it. Why? Because we can't get out of our own way to think differently. Any leader that wants to disrupt or change anything has to first understand that you have to do it in your own mind.  We mistakenly think strategy is going to solve a problem. I can strategically destroy someone, but strategy is only applying very good tactical, practical techniques from a higher level, but what's missing there is connectivity to life. Understanding that if I want to destroy something or someone that's destructive, not creative, healthy or beneficial. BEST MOMENTS ‘In order to change things, to solve problems, to think critically, we have to get out of our left brain and into our right mind.' ‘The book is the MC2 of absolutely the thing you have to do as an entrepreneur, a leader, a person in order to solve problems from a higher level.' ‘Instead of disrupting in order to create better we end up disrupting and destroying and doing the same things over again, just in a slightly better, less toxic wat.' ‘A lot of high achievers think even of themselves as units of productivity, you're not.' ABOUT THE GUEST Dr Teri Baydar is the CEO of White Lily Individual Development, LLC. Dr. Teri is a leadership development consultant, executive coach, and personal development expert who educates and supports C-suites and high achievers towards their personal path of self-actualizing growth for the greater good. During the decades she has spent coaching high-potential individuals, she has filled the role of mentor, friend, confidante, counsellor, healer, educator, the “CEO Whisperer,” and even “my own personal Yoda.” Website ABOUT THE HOST Tze Ching started her entrepreneurial journey back in 2007 with the launch of a sustainable clothing & home furnishing ecommerce business. Next, she created a sustainable fashion brand. In 2019, she launched a social enterprise to help raise awareness about the negative impact of fashion at schools & colleges.  Through the 15-year journey, she learned so much, but easily the most meaningful lesson learned was about the importance of marketing. She now focuses on channelling those insights to help others succeed through We Disrupt Agency, a business coaching, mentoring & digital marketing company.  Tze Ching's mission is to create a community of global change makers and to contribute to positive change in both people & planet. We are facing the greatest global pandemic of all time. Burnout, anxiety, and stress are at an all-time high. People are the greatest asset of an organisation. The better people look after themselves, the better they perform in all areas of life - both at work and home. Every single tiny choice we make during the day is shaping our lives, directly impacting how we feel and experience life. After getting the biggest wake-up call of losing everything in my life in 2016 I had no choice but to face my habits and make a change. The changes at first seemed so insignificant that I didn't believe they would make a difference. BUT they did. The Positive Habits Podcast is for people who want to live a better life, with higher energy levels, less stress, better relationships and ultimately to supercharge their performance in all areas of life. I'm on a mission to help people improve their well-being with one small habit change. KEY TAKEAWAYS As a child, I remember the number 1 goal was getting to school, mornings were very stressful and as soon as you opened your eyes it was 100mph to get out of the door. Every day felt like rinse and repeat. As an adult we go through something similar; we wake up on autopilot, those who have children get them ready for school before getting ready for work themselves. We're in the middle of a global mental health pandemic but there are so many habits we have that are 100% shaping the way we feel and experience our lives, our energy levels, our mood, our ability to focus, our performance at work and home, how well we look after ourselves. All of this is linked to our habits. Most people's daily habits are damaging to their mental health and ability to cope with life's stresses. Our phones have become our alarm clocks so it's so easy to look at them within a nanosecond of opening your eyes and to create all that stress about the day ahead before you've even properly opened your eyes. The brain isn't ready for that information yet. The belief that the harder you work the more successful you'll be is still so powerful and pertinent in society today. The challenge with that mentality and frame of mind is that it doesn't take into account: At what cost?   BEST MOMENTS “In 2016 I nearly lost my life. It happened without any warning, and it was the compound effect of years of unhealthy and toxic habits.” “My life started to change when I changed my habits.” “One Wednesday everything changed, and I noticed my thoughts for the first time.” “We can improve our own wellbeing when we start doing more of the things that give us energy and that we love.” ABOUT THE HOST Kat started her career as a teacher, before moving into Tech where she worked in different executive roles within teaching and consulting working across the globe, both in the public and private sector. Despite appearing 'successful' on the outside, she paid a heavy ‘life' price. In 2016, her whole world collapsed. The reason? Hello and welcome to another episode of the Perception Podcast with me your host Caroline Partridge. Today I'm joined by alternative health practitioner, medical intuitive, healer and animal communicator Martina Waidhas. Martina talks about how she tapped into her healing gifts at an early age, and how she completely reset her spiritual and physical body through a fast that was the result of a debilitating viral infection. We discuss how critically important but usually overlooked deep belly breathing is as a form of healing and how it can completely transform our health. Martina also shares her thoughts about the cause of diseases and explains what living a 5th dimensional life looks like. Please join me as we look at life through a different lens.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Deep belly breathing is a simple yet powerful tool for activating the parasympathetic system, increasing oxygen intake, and reducing acidity in the body, promoting overall healing. Cancer is a gift from our bodies, showing us when something is emotionally or mentally out of balance. Working on the underlying issues can help resolve the physical manifestation. Illness or injury is an interruption in communication between cells and the brain. Restoring this communication through the Neurological Integration System (NIS) can help detach organs from emotions and start the physical healing process. Negative thoughts cause cells to release toxins, leading to symptoms and disease. Rewriting our stories and focusing on positive thoughts can transform our health. The universe has a plan for each of us, and when our soul path is fulfilled, we will transition. Death is not the end but a change in energy. Trusting the universe and surrendering to its guidance can lead to incredible blessings, even in the face of seemingly disastrous situations. We are all connected, and it's time to take responsibility for our lives, just as God does. Separating people based on labels such as colour, gender, or religion is a tool for division. Sharing information freely is crucial in a world where truth is often shadow banned or blocked by mainstream media. BEST MOMENTS "In the presence of oxygen, illness and disease cannot exist." "Cancer is actually a gift from our physical bodies. Our bodies show us whenever something is not okay." "The universe has our back. The universe doesn't want us to suffer. It's us. It's us. That creates our own suffering." "Change is our greatest fear. Success, failure, and fear. Those are the three things that are holding people back." "When we stop judging by colour. gender, whatever crazy things, religion, country we live in, all these labels that are here to separate people."   ABOUT THE GUEST Martina Waidhas is an alternative health practitioner, medical intuitive, healer and communicator who works with both humans and animals to facilitate healing in body, mind and soul. She has studied a wide range of healing practices including epigenetics, quantum healing, energy psychology, spinal column and joint therapy and has achieved a master level in both Reiki and the NIS (neurological integration system) therapy. As a former chef, Martina is passionate about the link between food and illness and brings a holistic approach to her work that is second to none. Her unique combination of skills gives her an insight and range of healing practices that allow her to tailor her treatments to suit each individual client. Martina works from higher dimensions and bringing her wisdom into the here and now always looking at the bigger picture of what is going on and translating it for her clients. For this episode, David is joined by Reid Tileston who spans the entrepreneurial and the educational worlds. He works to support entrepreneurs to go out there and make a difference in the world. Armed with the right information, spotting, fully understanding, and exploiting business opportunities becomes easier.  David and Reid discuss, in-depth, how to find, buy and improve a good business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Academic studies show that people who get deep into their purpose are the ones who feel the deepest level of satisfaction. Buying an existing profitable business, leveraging SBA financing, and selling it once the debt is cleared has the potential to be incredibly lucrative. Demographics means that there are a lot of profitable businesses up for sale, right now. There is a difference between being a business owner and an entrepreneur. Understanding that difference is important. It's an unequivocal scientific fact that we become like the people we surround ourselves with. Do not just listen to the voices in your own head when buying a business, get the opinion of at least 3 other knowledgeable business owners. Recurring or re-occurring revenue is critical. Figure out what your role will be in any business you are considering buying. Learn the business well, before making any big changes. Those who have the gold make the rules, so choose your partners carefully. BEST MOMENTS ‘In layman´s terms are you all in?' ‘If in your gut it just feels wrong….why do it?' ‘You join a group of successful business owners to become more successful.' ‘Ask, Is my personality type aligned to having a partner?' ABOUT THE GUEST Reid Tileston bridges the gap between entrepreneurial theory and practice as an adjunt professor and multiple business owner, acquiring, growing and selling 4 times. Liam aims to debunk common myths surrounding commercial conversion property investment in the UK, addressing five misconceptions that people often have about commercial conversions.  As Liam discusses, contrary to popular belief, one does not need to start with smaller property strategies before venturing into commercial conversions. Anyone, regardless of age, experience, or financial resources, can start and succeed in commercial conversions with the right blueprint and support. The episode also dispels the myth that a degree in engineering or property development is necessary, highlighting the importance of finding deals, securing funding, and building a reliable team KEY TAKEAWAYS Commercial conversions can be pursued as a starting point in property investment, without the need to first engage in smaller property strategies like single lets, HMOs, rent to rent, lease options, or flips. It is not necessary to have large amounts of personal funds to embark on commercial conversion deals. Funding can be obtained from banks, development funders, private investors, or through joint ventures. Obtaining a degree in property development or engineering is not a prerequisite for success in commercial conversions. The focus should be on finding deals, securing funding, and building a reliable team. It is possible to start and grow a commercial conversions business part-time, dedicating at least five to seven hours per week to high-income generating activities such as finding deals and building relationships.  BEST MOMENTS"In order to do commercial conversions, you first must go and do single lets HMOs rent to rent lease options flips... that is one of the myths."  "You can build a commercial conversion multi-million pound property empire using none of your own money."  "One of the worst things that I believe people are doing right now is spending wasted years, wasted money at university in an educational system that for almost everyone is completely redundant."  "No, you can start becoming a commercial conversion specialist part-time. Annie shares details of this journey which includes advice on how anyone can improve their performance and that of their team. KEY TAKEAWAYS People who are a step or two ahead of you are excellent role models. Take full ownership of what you are doing. Only you can grab an opportunity and make the most of it. Sometimes there is no silver lining. In that situation, you just have to accept that things have gone badly, learn from it, and move on. No matter how hard you try there will always be things you can´t master 100%. Be prepared to work closely with others who can bridge those gaps. Regularly review the strengths of your team, then retrain and recruit to fill the gaps. Sometimes you won´t have all of the information available, don´t um and err. Just make a decision, then commit to making it happen. Athletes are not superhuman, they are normal people. The best businesses have total synergy between their values and outcomes. BEST MOMENTS ‘In team sports, the coach is almost always going to be bigger than the athletes.' ‘You just have to make a decision, then make that the right decision.' ‘Failing in pursuit of something we really care about is something to be proud of.' ‘There are ways of disagreeing with each other.'   EPISODE RESOURCES Mind Games by Annie Vernon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/Annie-Vernon/author/B07NJNM6ZQ   ABOUT THE SHOW People with purpose make a difference. On this episode of the Scouting For Growth podcast, Sabine VdL talks to Cyrille Godinot, an industry titan whose career spans over 32 years across Marketing, Sales, Business Development, and Service Operations. Currently, Cyrille is contributing to the tech powerhouse, Schneider Electric, where he has spent nearly 11 years. His significant role involves developing solutions and services, directly impacting the digital transformation of the electronic, insurance and Inspection ecosystems. His responsibility also lies in leading marketing deployment activities towards strategic accounts to leverage Schneider's EcoStruxure IoT solutions, ensuring they provide safe, efficient, available, and cyber secure electrical infrastructures. On this episode they discuss: Cyrille's illustrious career, his insights into evolving market trends, especially regarding the adoption of new technologies and the influence of digital transformation and IoT on the B2B services sector, Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure IoT solutions and understand Cyrille's vision for the future of the industry. KEY TAKEAWAYS I've been boots on the ground directly with customers, I've been involved with service operations, and I came to realise that the best way you can build a long-term relationship with customers is by delivering their expectations. You need to listen a lot, that's how I moved into marketing. When you are going through digital transformation you have to consider all the impact that it raises. If you start from historical products, they now need to have sensors and must be able to communicate with an upper layer that understands the sensors. You have to agree on a data model to collect the data, how that data is represented. Then you need to define how you're going to leverage that data and build value for asset management, performance, sustainability, safety, availability, all the value you want to bring for your customer. Transformation is very much about aligning everybody according to one structure of having the right data coming to the right place. At the same time, our partner's ecosystems need to evolve to tackle the new complexity of digitisation. One of the big challenges right now is the unification of the data model. Electrical current could be measured in amps, miliamps or kiloamps. Which unit you use may change depending on the device, so at some level you need to be able to represent the same data with exactly the same thing otherwise it will be confusing when you go to analytics to compare them. Ecostruxure is opening opportunities in leveraging data from new business models. In this we see a tree domain that is very interesting related to risk management and insurance. When you collect a lot of data on a property you're going to have something that is a proxy of telematics in car insurance. This could be used for risk prevention, underwriting scoring, looking at track records about claims and operations, most of that will be leveraged by anyone that has a use case for that data, to improve the relationship with the end client for example where messages can be sent when a discrepancy arises to alert them. I could leverage that data myself and build analytics and only propose a risk score for example. Another model is how to bridge a product to embedded insurance which will enable us to consider new services that we can build in partnership with risk management companies. BEST MOMENTS‘In the digitisation transformation that we're all going through there is a huge opportunity to create a new business model to disrupt the existing one and it all starts with collecting data.'"We're coming from an industry where historically competitors were not in a mode of aligning and each one had their own model, but at the end of the day current remains a current and being able to express a unit that is understandable is inevitable.'‘It starts with risk prevention. Because we collect data continuously, we are able to provide alarms. This is most of the value, how it differentiates. Live data can give immediate reaction for the site manager and the insurance can be aware of the situation so that they can take action and mitigate.' In this episode, David opens our eyes to the crazy impact the way we heat and cool our homes is having on the environment. He shares the details of the Maintain, Insulate, Replace, and Electricity (MIRE) approach that enables you to save money while helping the planet and setting your home up to be ready for the future. David also talks through the pros and cons of heat pumps including how to work out if installing one is the right option for your home. KEY TAKEAWAYS Homes create between 20 and 40% of all carbon emissions. Investing £75 in an EPC Survey enables you to understand what your energy-saving options are. Armed with that information, you can ensure that the insulation and heating systems you choose actually are environmentally friendly and will save you money. At some point soon, improving home energy efficiency will become mandatory. Every degree you turn your thermostat down will save you up to £150, per year. If you opt for cavity wall insulation, check the company is signed up with CIGA. Consider insulating under your floors too. A heat pump is a bit like a fridge in reverse, extracting heat from the air. If you want to use a heat pump you've got to insulate your home. For every unit of energy, you put into a heat pump you get 2.5 to 5 units of heat out. A gas boiler would only generate less than one unit of heat. BEST MOMENTS ‘In the UK, homes generate more carbon emissions than cars,' ‘If it's not a well-insulated roof, literally, energy is going through the roof. This is wasted money.' ‘Cavity wall insulation has a 1 to 3 year payback.' He is also a time-served plasterer, who owns 3 businesses and multiple properties which he has developed. As well as being the host of The Damp Show podcast.Simon explains how the course he has developed is helping to address the shortage of surveyors. He also shares details of what property owners and developers can do to spot problems early and how to address common damp and decay issues. David and Simon also discuss the challenge that new EPC regulations are going to throw up.KEY TAKEAWAYS In business, you need to care, to want to get the job right and if you fail identify why so you can stop it from happening again. It is not always the best products and services people remember. Often, it is the firm with the memorable name they first think of. It is important to develop multiple streams of revenue. Banks are much more cautious about lending, so they expect a damp survey to be done. There are not enough damp surveyors in the UK to make all of the necessary inspections. It is important to insulate a building, but you must be careful not to seal it completely. Banks are already not mortgaging properties if the EPC is below a D. Holistic solutions are needed to successfully meet the new EPC standards. People across several industries need to work together to find practical ways to meet them. Be vigilant and look out for decay, algae, dampness, and leaks.  Check what happens to the water when it rains and periodically checks there are no leaks in your wastewater system. BEST MOMENTS‘In my business life, I´ve always cared about making sure that the job that I do is right,'‘Be aware of the implications of insulating. You are effectively sealing that property up; you've got to get the balance right.'‘We can insulate a building on the inside or the outside and can ventilate them as well.'‘Industry and commerce need to find the right solutions to make the regulations work'EPISODE RESOURCESWhy Is My Property Damp Facebook Page - https://m.facebook.com/groups/84911630448/Damp Sam Educational Videos - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDh4nXWTEAPxsG5JIX3VdIgDamp Sam podcast: https://thedampshow.co.uk/ABOUT THE SHOWPeople with purpose make a difference. On this episode Paul is joined by returning guest, Noha Hefny, to talk more about unsung heroes. This time they discuss how to give unsung heroes greater visibility and how they should be rewarded. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are many stories of unsung heroes that have an opportunity to gain the attention of editors of media organisations around the world. Media has a great role to play in bringing much needed visibility to these stories. Organisations need to reward behaviours rather than big rewards and outcomes. Recognising people on the basis of values, integrity, actions that they take selflessly. These things should have their own dedicated awards. Young people are stepping up to make a difference more and more but are often unable to receive the recognition for their efforts or even their ideas. Their ideas can change the world. I'm extremely passionate about the role of youth in advancing sustainable development and we have a great responsibility to go to greater lengths to mentor, develop and build a future generation that is socially responsible, equipped, enabled and empowered to take action on key issues facing the world. The way we interact with nature is important. As human beings we have an instinct to be selfish and take things for granted, especially things we don't have to pay for or invest a lot of effort in, whether that's water or the air that we breathe. These are things that we've taken for granted for a very long time and there are some people who are bravely stepping up to save our planet, to address climate change, to protect nature and animals that are going extinct. This is the basic ecosystem of our lives, if we don't protect nature and the environment, I don't know how we'll survive as the human race. BEST MOMENTS ‘In recent years we've been witnessing around the world a rising consciousness, a deeper yearning to connect with human values. This is something that should be captured by brands, the media, anyone who is involved in storytelling.' ‘We as people need to remember to be kind to others and recognise others in our communities that are doing things for their communities without expecting anything in return and taking time to express love and gratitude within our communities.' ‘Mothers are definitely unsung heroes. Mothers make incredible sacrifices for their children and trade-offs to raise a generation of healthy, productive members of society.' ‘The youth are the future and the leaders of tomorrow and it is our responsibility to bring the best of that and channel their energy in a positive direction if we want to see a better world.' Money Won't Bring My Daughter Back (1) – Paul D. Lowe & Leah Morgan

Speaking From Our Hearts

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 5, 2022 20:37

Paul is joined by Leah Morgan for the first of a two-pert episode which is a very poignant one. Leah shares some experiences and lessons she's been through since tragically losing her daughter to Leukemia. KEY TAKEAWAYS In 2016 my daughter Maggie-Mae was born with Leukemia, it's extremely rare to be born with Leukemia – one in five million. Every single day that Maggie had was a miracle and we only had her for 18 months, despite nearly dying so many times in those early days, so the fact she got 18 months was miraculous. She had a fun-filled, joyful life. We were sure she'd survive and have a healthy life ahead of her, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Anyone who is faced with tragic or life-changing circumstances will be able to understand, but even people who haven't experienced these things will empathise with the fact that the world just stands still and all the things we're striving towards suddenly become meaningless. That's really hard to understand unless you've been through it. I have a life before Maggie was born and a life after she was born. My life and my perspective of life is unrecognisable. I've been presented with a whole new world: the beautiful cycles of nature, the joy that you see in each and every moment. Now a traffic jam isn't a stressful thing, for me it's a time to stop and see what's around me, look out the window and accept that what will be will be. I'm used to surrendering my control and just accepting what life's given me today. That really changes you. When you've been faced wit death and the fact life is a finite experience that can change in a moment, and as a mother trying to keep their child alive, there's a fearlessness I'm left with. I feel like all those layers of armour that I have built up or that society puts on us, all ego- or fear-based, are burned away and you're left with pure vulnerability. But in that state is where the power lies. BEST MOMENTS ‘In her short life, Maggie-Mae changed everyone she knew, all our lives have been changed unrecognisably.' ‘Maggie has taught me the real value of life.' ‘It's really interesting when you just stop and realise how swept up in the rat race we all are.' ‘Of course, money brings opportunities, but even more important than the money is the focus on your life's dharma – life's purpose.' E310: “Lead in the Way You Want to Go ” - Mary Welp Interview

Fire in The Belly

Sometimes you need the world to crash around you before you spiritually wake up to realize you are not living your true life. Our guest today, Mary Welp, is a cranio-sacral and body work practitioner who believes that we need to be more authentic and vulnerable both as a daily practice with ourselves and in our interactions to live our lives filled with purpose.  She has spent the last 20 years focusing on her mission to help others self-actualize and our hour of conversation truly flew by. I hope you'll join us.  KEY TAKEAWAYS  Use the acronym RISE {Relax, Imagine, Suggest, Empower}  to move past your reactive emotions and become more emotionally regulated so that you can actually be present in each moment.  To live your best life, be vulnerable, authentic, grateful, and find your purpose.  You don't have to believe in bodywork, like Reiki, to get on a practitioner's table. The work never requires your belief.  A story about a father and a son standing on the banks of a dirty river: the son asked his father, “Dad, is the river polluted?” And he says “no, Son, the river is not polluted. The river is pure, it just carries pollutants. I'd like to remind us that we can stand on the banks and watch our thoughts. So question what you think? Question what is in your river, your habits, your thoughts, your imprints. If something in your river does not suit you anymore, does not help you, does not make you a better, happier person – fish it out, get it out of that river. Change is possible for all of us. BEST MOMENTS   “In our culture, we give a hard time to people who state what they need, and there is nothing wrong with that – we all have needs.”  “If you're consistent; if you wake up with the same intention several days in a row, that's adding more and more fuel and power to that intention. Because intentions and thoughts are energy, they are physical energy. So what energy do you want to create around yourself?” “When we pre-design our life, we are excluding all of the extra magic and beauty that can happen in our life, because we are setting ourselves down such a rigid path, that maybe there's an opportunity for something that we had never dreamt of, to happen.”  ABOUT THE GUEST   Mary Welp, CH, is a certified hypnotherapist specializing in hypnotic meditation. After 20 years as a practitioner in Craniosacral therapy and 14 years as a certified hypnotherapist, she launched RISE Hypnotic Meditation to teach others how to bring meaningful, positive changes to their lives. Speaking From Our Hearts
Who Do You Love The Most? – Paul D. Lowe & Bob Conlin

Speaking From Our Hearts

On this episode guest host Bob Conlin interviews Paul about the World Game-Changers project and his deep sense of care and concern for all living things as well as his experience of relationships throughout his life, what he's learned and what wisdom he would like to share. KEY TAKEAWAYS With hindsight and learning, the most challenging relationship I ever had was with myself. From an early age I was led to believe I was useless, pathetic, no one would ever love me, I was a waste of space, better off dead. This came from my step father over 6 torturous years. I developed self-hatred in my formative years and spend most of my life fighting against myself. The love of womankind has been so powerful in my life, initially in the form of two matriarchs – my mother and my grandmother, and then later in what the outside world would term ‘romantic relationships'. I still had deep, deep deserved issues and I battled alcohol addiction for many many years, but one of the things that kept my head above water was knowing that I was so special in these beautiful, divine feminine worlds. That for me is just mind-blowing. My mother gave what she didn't have and I learned that model and used it in later life, even if I was a mess, if anyone needed help it was like a sobering effect and I'd sort it for them. I had to unlearn that when I became a coach. It's not our role to fix, guide and support by all means, it's not my job to fix. When I was younger, the love in my heart only extended to women, kids and animals. Men were like a magnet to me and I just wanted to fight them. My understanding was that all men were drunk wife-beaters because I saw that directly in my own world, but it was rife in the community around me, being in a rough, inner-city area of Nottingham. It was somehow normal, but I sort of knew it wasn't. BEST MOMENTS ‘In darkness the real focus of light shines brightest in the darkest.' ‘The best relationship is where I am now, and I say this in the humblest of ways, but I'm in love with myself. For the first time in my life I can truly say I don't need a romantic relationship.' ‘You follow your heart. For the longest time I followed my head, but that was based on fear and survival.' Do you find that your products just sit in your Etsy store and you don't get many sales? This week on Thriving Women Artists, Ping, Sarah, and Dorien are giving you their top tips for becoming better at selling your art. Find out what you'll need to start selling, how you can build and improve relationships, Pings 20/80 rule, the importance of marketing yourself, and setting your sales goals.    KEY TAKEAWAYS Being successful when it comes to selling depends on what your goals are. Some people might want to sell 50 things a week and some might only need to sell 3 or 4.  You can only get to your goal if you put in the time and effort. You only get out what you put in.  Ping doesn't give herself a plan B, plan A is the only one and she will make it work.  If you want to sell things from your Etsy store, then you should actively be marketing it and promoting your products, not just waiting for sales.  Remember that you will need the space and time to run your online selling business.  The price you can sell to shops varies depending on their own costs.  A good rule of thumb when it comes to selling is that 20% of your products get you 80% of your revenue. And 20% of your customers give you 80% of your sales.  Make sure your website is as customer friendly as possible. They should be able to find what they're looking for in as few clicks as possible. If you have a bad website experience, you will lose business.  Personal connections are so important when selling. People invest in us as people first, before they invest in our products. Remember people's names, be personable, do the little things that will improve relationships.  You can start small but if you want to grow you will need to invest.    BEST MOMENTS ‘In order to sell better you need to look at what resources you have'  ‘You have this product, it feels so special'  ‘Every time we send out an email, 10 orders come in' ‘Selling is an established relationship'   EPISODE RESOURCES  The Lean Startup - http://theleanstartup.com/   ABOUT THE PODCAST  A serious and fun podcast for female creatives hosted by Ping, Dorien and Sarah, three happy artists from Amsterdam.  This podcast will inspire you to make a living out of your art. Nathan Haines is the executive producer and managing director at element26, his role within the business is a strategic one, matching brands with some of the UK's leading creative talent. His passion surrounds enabling brands to tell their story. Based on the Old Street roundabout in London, element26 is part of the Iron Box Group of companies. Element26's core focus is on the production of high-quality video content that connects brands with their buyers which is why they have worked with ambitious brands such as ProCook, Deliciously Ella, and American Express. A member of the Advertising Producers Association, element26 is focused on delighting audiences wherever they consume content, be it on TV, in social, via the open web, or even out of the home. Whilst the agency is headquartered in London, the business has a global footprint. Before the pandemic, element26 managed productions across Europe however, with the rise of remote production, their reach has extended, facilitating productions across both the US and Asia.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Video is a powerful tool for a brand's image and may take more space in our future lives. There are so many other platforms online that may create a higher engagement for lower cost compared to conventionally accustomed platforms like Instagram and Facebook. While the TV advertisement can be an expensive premium environment for some businesses, it can be a great option for others.  To create a volume with your advertising, it's not a neccesaty to work with a marketing company but as you grow and extend into different markets, it becomes more and more logical. BEST MOMENTS "In the early days, you don't know much but you think you know more than you do. You go around learning how much you don't actually know about the world and how far you've got to go. And one of the thing I've always been a big believer of is that you are always learning and that you'll never know everything." "I think it would be naive to think that TV is not a premium environment, because it is and it has an incredible Halo Effect." "I think people get very preoccupied with Facebook and Instagram - those very popular destinations. But if you look around the web there are lots of very interesting places to advertise, where people are more engaged and the costs are a lot lower. You see people going into communities on Quora, Reddit and all across the internet. There are low-cost ways of distributing video online to find an audience." "With social media, there is this tendency to create volume. In that scenario, if you are a very small business, why not just get your phone, just be authentic and talk to your audience? But at the end of the day, once you get to a certain size, a brand has to take care of its appearance. There is a time when looking handmade is fine but once you grow, I don't think that's the right advice." All of you lovely listeners have been sending in so many questions we had to bring you a part 2 of answering questions from listeners. When should you start selling your art? Would you recommend teaching online courses? What distracts you from making art and how do you deal with it? Ping, Sarah, and Dorien will be answering these questions and more.    KEY TAKEAWAYS There are print on demand websites which can do all of the manufacturing and postage for you. It's a good tool to use when you're starting out but you only get a small percentage of the profits.  Look for small group exhibitions to showcase your work in a smaller, more supportive environment. Also remember you might not make sales on the day of the exhibition. Make sure you give out your contact information to anyone who is interested and you might get sales at a later date.  If you're selling low cost items like postcards, why not sell them in bundles. You will sell more volume and make more money.  Your phone is a huge distraction, don't put it on your desk or in your pocket. Put it on the other side of the room or even a different room all together.  If you're being distracted, try and find out why you're being distracted at that moment or what it is that is distracting you. Are you distracted because you're struggling with a part of your work?  BEST MOMENTS ‘In the beginning it's not about the money, it's an investment process in yourself' ‘I'm building my art muscles by exercising in my sketchbook'  ‘If you follow your intuition you'll be in a place where you really enjoy learning new things'  ‘Colour gets all the credit but tone does all the work'    VALUABLE RESOURCES https://society6.com/ https://www.redbubble.com/   ABOUT THE PODCAST  A serious and fun podcast for female creatives hosted by Ping, Dorien and Sarah, three happy artists from Amsterdam.  This podcast will inspire you to make a living out of your art. As a podcaster, if you fully understand your listeners, you can produce better and more valuable content for them. Charts, Analytics and Consumption Data are all key ways you can develop a deeper understanding of your listeners and enable you to make data-driven, educated decisions regarding your podcast.   Join Thom and Kane in this episode to find out more about the technical background to podcasting and how gaining a true understanding of this can be invaluable in creating a podcast that is worthwhile, charts highly and stands the test of time. KEY TAKEAWAYS When you are setting up your podcast you must pick both a category and subcategory. The Apple Podcast App has a very dominant position in podcasting so most other podcast apps have taken cues from the way they have set up categories. It's important spend time analysing the right category as this will affect where and how you chart. In any sub category, you are probably not competing with more than a few hundred people and even those people are probably not taking podcasting seriously. You can have the ability to really dominate your subcategory in terms of charting. Having a co-ordinated plan when you launch your podcast and when each episode is released, means you can ensure your downloads/subscribers happen in a shorter time frame as this will help you chart higher. You want to push all your downloads to the smallest window possible to give yourself the best chance to chart. Figure out who your ideal listener is and find them. If you can offer something to them to channel them to review, download and subscribe when you launch your podcast this will aid you in charting, especially if you chose a less competitive category/subcategory. You can then use charting to prove your success and help you land better guests for future episodes. You aren't a slave to an algorithm in podcasting, it is completely designed to get you into the charts. A subscriber/follow is someone who has gone to your show and effectively turned on notifications to be told when you upload new episodes and it also shows you in their personal feed. Consumption data allows you to make educated data driven decisions on formatting, content and gives an in-depth understanding on who and how listeners are consuming your podcast. BEST MOMENTS “In any given subcategory, you're probably only competing with a few dozen to a few hundred people realistically to be able to chart” “You want to push all your downloads to the smallest window possible to give yourself the best chance to chart” “Even a small indie podcast can chart really well because of how the charts are set up” “You can't assume one size fits all will work for you, for your content and for your audience” “It will serve you better if you have shorter episodes” “Understanding your analytics is vital so that you do create the content that is worthwhile” VALUABLE RESOURCES Website Instagram https://chartable.com ABOUT THE HOSTS Kane Baron, Thom Luter & Aaron Nelson manage over 100 live podcasts Including Rob Moore, Kevin Clifton, Shaa Wasmand & more.  Helping Entrepreneurs Launch, Scale & Monetise their podcast for over 7 years. In a nutshell, for me, The Chimp Paradox is a revealing and encouraging mind management, self-help resource for adults. You have to develop the ability to know how to manage the healthy tug-of-war between tensing and stretching muscles. If you understand the shifts in the soundwaves and the resonance we create, then it explains why you get a vocal break and the subtleties of the vowel sounds. Most of the issues a singer has with acoustics are to do with throat resonation. Try using the ‘uuuhhh' sound to drop the larynx. The pitch you're hearing is made up of many different pitches. Your vocal tract is a filter. The original pitches don't change, it's but the filter that changes it. Formant essentially means boost. ‘You' and ‘me' are two things we sing about a lot but they're hard to do, that's why you often hear singers say ‘may' instead of ‘me' and distort the vowel to an unrecognisable form. BEST MOMENTS ‘In the heat of battle when you're singing, you can't do these calculations, you need to feel it' ‘Vowels are just perception'  SHOW RESOURCES Dr Rachel Goldenberg: https://rachelbgoldenberg.com/ The Intelligent Vocalist Podcast: https://johnhenny.com/category/podcast/ Dr Reena Gupta: https://www.centerforvocalhealth.com/meet-dr-gupta ‘The OHNI Voice Book: Straight Talk with Dr Reena Gupta' Book Review: https://www.basttraining.com/the-ohni-voice-book-straight-talk-with-dr-reena-gupta/ Ken Bozeman: http://www.kenbozeman.com/ Dr Donald Miller: https://www.vocevista.com Dr Ian Howell: https://www.ianhowellcountertenor.com/ The Pomodoro Technique: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique    ABOUT THE GUEST John Henny has been a leading voice teacher for over 25 years. The Language Of Winning (5/5) - Paul D. Lowe & Peter Lowe

Speaking From Our Hearts

Paul is joined by returning guest Peter Lowe for the fifth and final instalment in a mini-series based around Peter's book, ‘The Language of Winning'. This episode looks at the Chapters ‘Managing the Obstacles to Success' and ‘Move to Improve'. Peter covers certain areas that he thinks are a consideration when it comes to achieving success including not being afraid of, as well as our attitude to, defeat or failure, managing success, leadership negativity and expectations, changing mindsets. He finishes on looking at consistently challenging yourself and your business to keep innovating and creating higher standards to stay at the top and create higher and higher standards. KEY TAKEAWAYS The danger, when you're doing well, is to want to continue to do well and we don't think of the things we have to do to maintain that success. It's not just about earning success, it's about planning for it because if you're not planning you can bet your bottom dollar your competitors will be. One of the things that experience tells you is the difference between unplanned events – what I can catastrophes or thunderbolts – or just old-fashioned poor leadership. That creates failure through fear. Allowing self-adulation brought about through over-celebration of success as a team. The influence of people inside an environment is automatically weakened when they perceive that a leader's mindset, when failure occurs, is one of looking for blame. There is only a language of winning when we determine that where we are isn't good enough anymore. Competitors will catch us up, so we have to have a mindset of evolution. You have to look to up the ante by using your experience, knowledge and information to create higher standards. BEST MOMENTS ‘In failure is your next success, you just need to look for it.' ‘Consistently celebrating a success is a bad thing, move on or it creates an abyss.' ‘Reflection at any time (success or failure) is critical. But reflect with a purpose.' ‘One has to adapt and create change.' In this episode, we chat with Richard Papp, Managing Director at UNEXMIN Geo-Robotics, a company that is a private spin-off arising from the U-NEX-MIN project and that has the IP of the robotic platform they have produced. The company is pioneering surveying solutions for flooded environments. During the podcast, Richard, who has a background in geology and geophysics, is going to talk about the exciting and innovative advances they are making in geo-robotics. Including, how this can be used in the mining sector in both underground and open-pit mines.  Providing solutions for areas of any type of mine that are under water. KEY TAKEAWAYS Submersibles makes it possible to explore and assess flooded mines. In the EU alone there are 30,000+ closed mines. Many of which have since flooded, so the potential market for UNEXMIN is huge. Many of these mines have the potential to be re-opened using new technology. The rising demand for most metals and minerals is pushing the price up making resurrecting old mines viable and desirable. The robots are fitted with multiple systems which makes them robust, highly manoeuvrable, precise, and easy to direct accurately. Robots can dive in places humans can´t. There are several other markets outside of mining for these diving and exploring robots. The robots can also be used for water and chemical sampling. They can create 3D maps of any mining facility, tunnel, or cave. When specialist cameras are used it is possible to detect what minerals are left in the mine. Rock sampling capabilities are also in development. The robots can be used in any kind of water. But there are some temperature limitations. The robot is modular, which makes it versatile and enables users to choose what type of information they collect. BEST MOMENTS ‘In the European Union, there are 30,000 closed mines that could now be viable again. Many of them are flooded. ´ ‘Based on the scientific data we collect we can make extremely detailed 3D models.' ‘By using multispectral and hyperspectral cameras it is also possible to detect what minerals are left in the mine.' Paul is joined by Rhea Mishtra to discuss why and how the world needs to change and how younger people need to make this change happen. Topics range from issues between the generations, to stigma around mental health, LGBTQ+, Black Lives Matter and general human rights. KEY TAKEAWAYS There's a misconception that younger people don't understand what's going on or what they're saying, it's a phase. But people my age are old enough to see right and wrong. It's not fair that adults dismiss kids. We're in a world where kids ‘being seen and not heard' is changing with millennials and Gen Z. The younger generation isn't trying to fight the older generation and do away with their thinking. Certain things, yes – like the stigma around mental health or LGBTQ+ issues – but we want to fight with them. Making positive change, even if you can't give money to a cause, will help. Just make sure you're talking about the issues that you're passionate about. Specifically, Deeksha wants to tell her particular story about finding her Sunshine - her Mother, which will be featured in a book called 'Speaking From Our Hearts, Vol. 4: Back To Basics'. KEY TAKEAWAYS Dad has always worked hard so that we could live and follow our dreams, but Mum has been there always as a friend, mother, father. People tell stories to themselves and they do believe those stories, however they may not be true, right and honest every time. We should keep learning from people each and every time. It's not only parents that teach us to keep on a good path, it could be friends or strangers. Stories are things we make up that we can rely on, I've made a story in my mind that my Sunshine is everything to me. I would start my story with something she said to me and form there the story will help people to learn and inspire them and even to teach people from the mistake me and my Mum have made so that they know there is always going to be a happy ending. In this episode, Rob speaks to John Penquet who is a leading figure in the field of researching and forecasting the UK property market. He provides the Property Market Forecast (PMF). A report that correctly predicted what was going to happen during the CoVid crisis. He is also an author. John invests to fill gaps in the market. Where demand is high and supply is low, prioritising providing the kinds of properties people are crying out for. He invests nationally and chooses where to invest and when using data and analytics. In the podcast, John shares details of this approach. He also shares his take on the current high demand for property. Including how long he expects that trend to last. Sign Up For MSOPI Here: https://bit.ly/msopi-nomad KEY TAKEAWAYS Most property investors are not good at using data and analytics to inform their business decisions. You need to be aware of the risks of investing in property as well as the benefits. It is not wise to blindly follow. The strategy that worked last year may not work now. Not many people understand the macroeconomics of their country and how that affects the property market. Many of us lose sight of the fact that not all properties increase in value at the same time or rate. There are places where prices are going up by 24%. Yet other postcodes are falling by 3%. John looks at growth and demand and does so at the postcode level. The UK property market is finally adjusting and is doing so at an accelerated rate. If the demand is there and there isn´t supply, you are going to make money. When you add value i.e., providing what people really need, your property becomes more valuable. Generally, when the level of indebtedness increases, house prices go up. We should continue to see growth for a while yet. Inflationary pressure would have a big impact on the property market. Inflation is likely to be a reality at some point. No matter what stage the market is at there are always opportunities. If you do not have a business plan, you need to write one now. If you are not using hard data, you need to start doing so.   BEST MOMENTS ‘In our industry, there´s such a misunderstanding of how to use analytics and how to use data.' ‘We can provide the property types and solutions that our entire population and economy needs.' ‘Making sure that you buy the thing that people want is important.'   GUEST RESOURCES Property Truth or Dare by John Penquet https://www.ultimate-landlord.com Ultimate Landlord Property Market Report Training Ultimate Landlord Facebook Group   VALUABLE RESOURCES The Property Nomads Website  Buy to Let: How to Get Started – By Rob Smallbone (Amazon)   ABOUT THE HOST  Rob Smallbone the host of The Property Nomads Podcast, is on a global mission to guide your success. Rob talks through how switching from fossil to cleaner fuels will affect property owners. Sign Up For MSOPI Here: https://bit.ly/msopi-nomad   KEY TAKEAWAYS Being aware of what is going on with climate change is wise for all property owners. How our homes are powered is going to be affected by climate change. To reach the International Energy Agency´s (IEA) Net Zero by 2050 target, everyone has to do their part. The use of fossil fuels will need to decrease dramatically. In the UK, gas is the main form of fuel. The IEA proposals could mean that you will not be able to replace a gas boiler. Clean electric is the way things are moving. Air source heat pumps are one possibility, as are ground source heat pumps. There are likely to be government schemes to help property owners to transition to other forms of energy. Alternative energy for property will be discussed in-depth in future TPN podcasts, including interviews with experts. BEST MOMENTS ‘In order to get to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, everyone needs to do their part.' ‘Electricity is cleaner. He gives us an overview of both projects and a better understanding of the coking coal sector.   KEY TAKEAWAYS   Recently there´s been strong price movement within the commodity complex in general. Contango started out looking at assets that were not greenfield assets. In particular, projects that have resource statements and some sort of mine scoping study. With bulk minerals, Contango only opens mines when they have secured a demonstrable offtake agreement. CoVid has made it hard for people to visit assets, which has slowed the rate at which deals can be closed. Demand for coking coal is strong. In some mines, it is now possible to mine just the coking coal. Instead of having to move and backfill the thermal coal too. The Garalo gold project is probably way bigger than initially thought. Garalo is being studied in more detail. At which point, they will tell the market more and decide what size mill to build. No royalty agreements will be signed until the size of the resource is fully understood. They are hoping to pick up neighbouring properties in the vicinity of Garalo.   BEST MOMENTS ‘In the case of bulk minerals, like coal, we won´t build mines until we have a demonstrable offtake agreement. ´ ‘Coking coal is up about 35% since we listed.' ‘You want to build a large mill and feed it all in from satellite deposits.'   VALUABLE RESOURCES rob@mining-international.org https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3   ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first world to third world countries from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Entrepreneur, business owner and leadership mentor Kathleen Metcalf joins Pete today all the way from Vancouver, USA. Kathleen shares her inspiring story of how she became the best version of herself as she talks through her battle with alcoholism and her financial struggles. Together they discuss the importance of not letting yourself be defined by your possessions, how your failures serve as valuable lessons and how to look for evidence of a higher power in your daily life.   KEY TAKEAWAYS   Overcoming tough challenges in your life such as addictions can help you evaluate what wealth and success looks like to you. Think about how you can make a difference in the world and how you can help others, make that your motivation. Your life story has hope and encouragement for others going through a similar time.   When you have nothing, you are able to learn that you are someone. You are not defined by your money, house, car, job or your relationships. You are a person who is no better or worse than anyone. Finding yourself through hardship is so valuable. It is okay to have ‘warts and all’, it is just human and there is nothing to be ashamed of.   Your failures will teach you valuable lessons. Your failures didn’t kill you, it may have been ‘evil bruising’ but you survived it. It will all work out for you eventually, that is a sign of a higher power. The world is full of love, life is happening for you not happening to you, you are not a victim of life, you are a participant in life.   If you are starting again after losing everything, take things one step at a time. You will need to face yourself and it will all work out eventually. Realise that there are a lot of other people who have had similar things happen to them who are afraid to talk about it and don’t know how to get help.   It is okay to be sad and depressed for a day or two. You then need to nurture that flicker of hope a little bit more. Think about who you can talk to, what you can read or watch and take better care of yourself. Then that flicker of hope grows. Look for evidence of a higher power, start noticing all the wonderful things that are happening around you, be they big or small.   Surround yourself with people that are a fantastic support. The naysayers, the people that don’t relate and the negative people are the ones you should not hang around with. It is okay for them to be that way, but if that is not the way you want to live your life, avoid them. Live in what is possible, it is more fun, more exciting and it is happier.   BEST MOMENTS “In that willfulness, I didn't listen to my intuition.” “It is more and more about how I can make a difference and how I can help others than it is about the fact that I am fine, I didn’t die when I failed.” “I am a very different person, now from then. I am a better person.” “I am in the dance with life and just because I step on my own toes or I rip the bottom of my dress, doesn’t mean that I am not going to keep dancing.” “Look for evidence of a higher power.”   ABOUT THE GUEST “Hi there! Andy Dobinson had a significant and completely unexpected stroke in 2017. His stroke was cryptogenic, meaning the professionals didn't know why it happened but in this episode, Andy explains not only the event but also his recovery and why he now can say it was the best thing that happened to him. His stroke was a life-changing event for someone who thought they were too young to have a stroke and his recovery changed his perspective building a mindset that is all about the experience, adventure, appreciation and always celebrating the small wins.   KEY TAKEAWAYS I had a cryptogenic stroke, meaning they didn't know why it had happened. In my mind, I was too young for a stroke and I was fit and healthy. Following a stroke, you have to decide to not be a victim and get on with it. My initial goals in my phase 1 recovery were small and incremental. Phase 2 was about getting better and included hydrotherapy and counselling with my focus on getting back to normal. I had to forge new pathways because part of my brain had died. There is fear, anxiety and depression that has to be overcome during recovery. Breaking everything down into small goals and celebrating the little wins is the way to move forward towards bigger goals. The stroke has made me a more rounded human being Its made me appreciate people and things more. If you have a stroke you just have to go with it and see where it takes you. After a stroke, there is a different future for you so you need to go with it.   BEST MOMENTS ‘In my mind, I thought young people don't get strokes' ‘You have to celebrate the small wins' ‘I was used to working and training hard so it was a case of applying that mindset in a different way'   VALUABLE RESOURCES The Back Pain Podcast The Back Pain Podcast recommended products affiliate link Andy Instagram @andy_stroke_of_luck   NHS signs of stroke https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/stroke/symptoms/   ABOUT THE HOSTS Dave Elliot Dave is the owner of Advanced Chiropractic, a chain of Chiropractic and massage therapy clinics in Essex, UK. Learning Games have been popular in L&D for a number of years but whilst the number of games designed and launched for organisational use has been significant, whether they've achieved what they're designed for is another matter. So what does it take to design Learning Games that affect performance and results - and when is it most appropriate? We explore these questions and much more in this episode. KEY TAKEAWAYS Learning games are still very basic, not user-centric, and not even considered to be game-centric. People seem to expect that the addition of leaderboards or the like are enough to create a lasting, impactful experience. Games must be designed around business objectives. We must clearly and initially identify the problem we need to solve before thinking about how to use games to get there. We must design for success. Why are we looking at learning, and what can we do to design true innovation into the learning experience we hope to offer? Games help with specific needs, and aid in a targeted way. For maximum effectiveness, they must be deployed en masse, and if no other type of learning will suit the audience and need. While many L&D budgets are low, it is simply not good enough to produce something lacking in quality and effectiveness. It must meet expectations.  BEST MOMENTS ‘In learning game terms, we're still in the Pong era' ‘It's really hard to build a game that gets any kind of traction' ‘What does success look like? What is it that you want your learners to do differently?' ‘Games are not a silver bullet' ‘Game learning is incredibly effective if done well' VALUABLE RESOURC ES The Learning And Development Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-learning-development-podcast/id1466927523 ABOUT THE GUEST Deborah Baird is Learning Design Lead at Philip Morris International as well as a Game Learning Producer and Lecturer. KEY TAKEAWAYS The true comedians are the ones who are constantly taking a comedic perspective upon life, and looking for the respectful opportunities to deliver their take on life and its many challenges. The Coronavirus pandemic has proved that if we need to, we can make radical, positive changes to the way our society works, both in financial and behavioural ways. We should never seek to abandon our pasts, but we must never become a slave to them. The past is a tool. We can always learn from our history, but we must try not to endlessly suffer from it. I'm building both an empire and a lifestyle business. A lifestyle business is where you leverage out everything you can so you can do what you want where you want in the world An empire business is about building a global business. It's as much about mindset as it is about skill set. You should work hard enough to not have to work hard. When you create your own business, your role should be as a strategist. You've got to out idea, out create everyone else 80% of the benefit comes from 20% of the time You can use this principle when you are leveraging if you outsource the things others can do and focus on the things only you can do in your If you outsource early on you can earn more money to grow your business more quickly. Architecture of life leverage Vision – what do you want for your life? When you are clear on your vision then you can break it down into your values Values – it's important that everyone in your business knows and shares your values. The values of your business are how your business looks and is run on a day to day basis. Key result areas are the areas in your business where you can make the biggest impact. Income-generating tasks – these are the activities that generate income other tasks will support those income-generating activities. KPI's this is the feedback matrix that tells you, you are on vision making an impact and effectively working on income-generating tasks You can increase the reach, power and impact of your key result areas as you grow your business.   BEST MOMENTS ‘In the early days, it was marketing and sales for me' ‘Hire people as soon as you can' ‘You  need to have a ‘work smarter, thinking mentality' if you want to grow your business'   VALUABLE RESOURCES Life Leverage book by Rob Moore Money book by Rob Moore    ABOUT THE HOST Alex is a prize-winning chartered accountant with experience in financial markets from trading finance, capital hedging, structural foreign exchange and interest rates to operational risk from the world's top financial and advisory institutions including Deloitte, RBS and JPMorgan Chase Alex has been involved in property development programmes across different types since 2008, building and managing a portfolio that includes standard buy-to-lets, student accommodation and other houses in multiple occupancy (HMOs). Financial Fair Exchange: More Value More MONEY

Have you ever wondered where to start when pricing your products or services? Did you know that there's a sweet spot between the value you're offering your customers and the profit you and your business are making? Pricing your products and services and achieving ‘fair exchange' in your marketplace is essential to growth, disruption, sustainability, profitability, and self-worth. Tune in today to discover how you too can price and position your products and services perfectly and create...fair exchange.   KEY TAKEAWAYS In your business you want to increase your feed and create a great product and service with a fair but healthy profit margin, you want it to be sustainable I.e if there is a disruption to your market you don't get dramatically affected as well as being able to price product prices to coincide with inflation. The concept of fair exchange is where there is a focal point between a fair and sustainable profit margin and the utility, value, and gratuity of the client. As a client, you need to be able to allow the producer of the product you're using to be able to make a fair and sustainable profit, however, there should be a balance whereby you are getting value for your money from the product or service experience. You cannot have a perception of value without a price. To create a fair exchange price you need to think about your industry experience, self-worth and value in the market, competitor pricing, and overheads. You then need to start with an initial version 1 price. If you start with a version 1 product priced slightly lower, if the product isn't yet perfect then you create a fair exchange environment whereby the customer may not be getting the completed, perfect product. The market will tell you how to value your product through demand, through people actually paying for your product and services. If you want to continue to increase your prices, innovate, add extra value, add more on that is of high perceived value to your client that is of low cost to you. Make sure what you do is different from your competition. Start at a price that creates volume and good value that gets case studies and referrals and then increase your prices until you reach a ceiling where the elasticity starts to stretch and the volume of sales starts to reduce. Give value first and then increase your profit.   BEST MOMENTS “In reality, what competition does is they keep you innovating, improving, disrupting, fixing and solving” “The sweet spot is between value and margin” “Have an element of uniqueness”   VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/   ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is the host of the UK's no. 1 business podcast “The Disruptive Entrepreneur,” and “The Money Podcast” as well as an entrepreneur, property investor, property educator, and holder of 3 world records for public speaking. Glenn takes us through his epic 30-year career with WWE, his successes and failures and how he ended up running for office and winning! Tune in today for this insightful interview with an industry legend. KEY TAKEAWAYS Q.What would you say you most identify with? (In reference to his many different job titles e.g Professional wrestler, Actor and Mayor) A.I don't know if I could say anything is more important than the other. I think that all too often we judge people by what they do instead of talking to people and taking them that way.   Is there any part of your journey/career that you enjoyed most? I really enjoyed wrestling, it was wonderful to be out in front of crowds and it is very gratifying when people come up and want to shake my hand. That is amazing, touching people's lives emotionally. Now in a different role, I am having a lot of fun in a different way, I feel like I am having an impact on my community.   Q.How did you get into becoming Mayor? I've always been interested in government politics, one day I woke up and thought that I can run for office, and win. It is the idea that you can have an impact on your community and you can't always make things turn out certain ways but you can certainly have an influence on how they turn out.   Q.Have you had this vision of having many different careers from an early age? My life has been very much like how Mike Tyson described “everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth”. Every time I've had a plan to do something it fell apart and other things popped up. I do think, having a goal in mind is very important, but life is very complex and you have to be flexible and realize that life won't always go the way you want.   Q.Do you have any fear of failing in a career? A.Failure is a huge obstacle. I have failed at a lot of stuff, the more you fail the more you realize that that's not the end of the story, you're going to be able to come back from that and go on. In many cases, failure is a positive, because if you never fail then that means that you did not try and you're not stepping out of your comfort zone.   Q.How did you settle on the character ‘Kane”? A.We talk about failures, I certainly had some. There is no prescribed path to get to WWE everybody does it differently. I would drive 200 miles to work for free just to get experience, it wasn't much fun! Eventually, I networked and worked my way u and was able to sign with WWE. I had several characters that weren't very successful the character Kane was then created for me and that was my big break. You have failures, but on the way, you learn things and I was able to prove to  WWE that I was an asset to the company.   Q.What made you succeed in that career for thirty years when other people only last a few years? A.I was very fortunate, I didn't get hurt very often. It's also about your attitude, having the right attitude takes you a long way realising that you're contributing to the company. Too often people go to their employer and ask ‘what's in it for me?' what they should be doing is asking ‘what can I do for my company?' That is what makes you valuable. My ability to put my company's interest first was why I was able to stay around for so long.   What changes did you want to make as Mayor and what is your vision? A couple of priorities that we're working on are mental health and substance abuse in our community similar to many other communities across the USA. Those two things are at the root of other issues that we're facing. Another thing is looking at how we can prepare our workforce for the rapidly evolving global economy. If you look at all the things happening in the global economy, innovation has become the driving economic engine and how do we prepare our workforce for that and take advantage of that?   Q.What is the best advice that you've ever received? A.I am the one responsible for my life and nobody else is. It doesn't matter if things happen to me that ain't my fault, I am the one that is going to have to deal with it, and I have to take ownership of things.   Is there one thing wrong with the world, that you would love to change? We don't talk to each other. We scream and yell and each other a lot and we all have a different viewpoint, and we don't listen enough.   Q.What does the word disruptive mean to you? A.Concepts and ideas which come in and disrupt the current economic paradigm, but actually end up improving it.   BEST MOMENTS “In life a lot of times, the things that happen to you, you don't have any control over. Are you enthusiastic and excited about 2020? Have you set your goals and targets so you are poised to make a mark and achieve those goals in the coming months? Information is power, providing that you know what to do with it and in this episode, Steven looks at quotes from 3 very successful entrepreneurs; Alexandra Depledge founder and CEO of Resi the largest residential architects in the UK who offer cradle to grave solutions for your home, Anne Boden, founder and CEO of Starling Bank and author of the Money Revolution and David Buttress Ex CEO and founder of Just Eat, entrepreneur and angel investor. They are all hugely successful but they've all had to raise money so they are all closers and all understand the fundamental importance of knowing about sales, doing sales presentations and securing sales.   KEY TAKEAWAYS ‘People can smell desperation when you are looking for money' (Anne Boden) Being desperate is when an individual starts to do things that are incongruent with their brand and to who they as an individual. When you are looking for money and are not coming across as desperate it's because you are prepared,  have a pipeline and have worked hard. ‘When raising money, you need to be resilient' (Anne Boden) There are a lot of ‘nos' and rejection. If you lose your composure you are weak. It's about working on your plan. You need to build up resilience. ‘If you really believe in your business you will find a way' (David Buttress) If you really believe in yourself and have the burning desire to be successful in your business you will find a way.   ‘Raising money was a fun challenge (David Buttress) If you retrain yourself to view raising money as a fun challenge when you go into a sales your potential presentation it's going to come across to the others, including potential investors. ‘When you are pitching, narrate a story because they buy you' (Alex Deledge) When you are pitching narrate a story because they buy you, the best pitchers are fantastic storytellers. People want to buy into other people, they want to stand with you in your mind as you narrate the story. ‘You need high energy' (Alex Deledge) If people feel you are boring what you are saying is flat, monotone. You could have something that is amazing but people still won't buy it. A sale is the transference of enthusiasm. Get excited, get enthusiastic, tune into your goals and believe in yourself.   BEST MOMENTS ‘In my life, I've had successes and definitely setbacks  everything I share is my take on things and most importantly I continue to learn everyday' ‘If a person says no it doesn't mean they don't have someone in their network  who could say ‘yes'     VALUABLE RESOURCES The Steven Sully Study Podcast Anne Boden Starling Bank Alex Depledge LinkedIn David Buttress LinkedIn   ABOUT THE HOST The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. This week, Colin chats to former rugby union player and Air force Flying officer Rory Underwood. Many people know of Rory's illustrious sporting and military careers, but may not also be aware that since leaving both behind him, he has become a renowned management consultant and motivational speaker. In the first part of Colin's chat with Rory, you'll hear about his transition between successful careers, the ways in which he measures a successful business, how to scale up effectively and the true meaning of proper communication. KEY TAKEAWAYS When Rory left the Air Force he was planning to become an airline pilot. It was his interest in human performance during this transition phase that drew him to where he is now.   Team building, for many, seems to conjure images of physical exercise in groups, such as paint-balling. Rory wished to change this perception, and so set up UPH, a management and teamwork training company.   Success is often measure din terms of how well the business performs financially. Rory believes that they should also measure how well their workforce operates as a team. Are they performing to their maximum potential?   Effective scaling measures are vital to a growing company. Companies that were relatively small suddenly find themselves hiring managers, and asking tough questions about how to hand over control of a business they raised from nothing.   Rory very much enjoys getting his hands dirty when it comes to his business. He is happiest when dealing with all facets of the running of the business.   The main job of a CEO should be to put themselves out of work by building a successful team beneath them that will allow the business to run autonomously. BEST MOMENTS ‘In a big airline you're a glorified bus driver' ‘If you don't create the right environment, then how are you going to get the best out of them?' ‘Letting go is a very difficult thing to do' 'The business world predicates itself very much toward the individual' 'The business has still got to be run' ‘Your role is to do yourself out of a job' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Interesting Health And Safety Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/training-competency-creating-effective-plan-process/id1467771449?i=1000452692837  Wingman - https://www.wingmanltd.com Wingman LinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/company/wingmanltd/ Wingman Twitter - https://twitter.com/wingman_ltd?lang=en-gb ABOUT THE GUEST Rory Underwood MBE  is an English former rugby union player. Making change within a company is not as successful as it should be. In fact, studies show that on average seventy percent of change initiatives fail due to ‘people' issues. As the custodians of people-related change, those in HR are often looked to for answers when this happens. In today's episode, Lucinda looks at a well-cited model of change implementation that may well offer a solution. KEY TAKEAWAYS Seventy percent of change initiatives fail, and they do so because of people issues. This is according to a Kinsey report from almost twenty years ago, but is still holding true for many.   People need to understand why change is happening. They need to understand the steps they need to take in order to effect it. The change may need to be debated. It's never as simple as sending out an edict and waiting for the change to happen.   Kurt Lewin's 3 Step Change Method is visualised as a U shape. We begin at the left with “unfreezing", then move to the bottom of the U with “changing”, before ending at the other end of the U with “refreezing”.   Kotter's Eight Step Change Methodology: Establish a sense of urgency Establish a powerful guiding coalition Create a compelling vision Communicate the change Remove obstacles Create short-term wins Consolidate improvements Institutionalise the change   We need to consider the best way of ensuring that people realise the urgency of change, but in an appealing way, such as rewards.   Establishing a ‘why' and ‘how' is important, but so is the question of “what if?”. By offering consequences of inaction, we provide further impetus for change.   People who are great at change are often good at starting things. However, this can mean that they're not so good at finishing things. Consolidating requires a certain kind of person or team in order to see it through. BEST MOMENTS ‘In many large scale changes, there are many steps that need to be implemented' ‘Kotter says we need to communicate change ten times more than we think we do' ‘Where I've seen change fail is when this powerful guiding coalition are in a bubble' 'Think about how you frame your communication' ‘It becomes embedded. It becomes the way we do things around here' VALUABLE RESOURCES The HR Uprising Podcast | Apple | Spotify | Stitcher Kotter's Eight-Step Change Methodology - https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newPPM_82.htm Kurt Lewin's ‘Three-Step' Change Method - https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newPPM_94.htm 4Mat by Bernice McCarthy - https://www.toolshero.com/effectiveness/4mat-learning-cycle-model/ ABOUT THE HOST Lucinda Carney is a Business Psychologist with 15 years in Senior Corporate L&D roles and a further 10 as CEO of Actus Software where she worked closely with HR colleagues helping them to solve the same challenges across a huge range of industries. In today's episode, Steven discusses Optimism Vs Pessimism and how you too, can become the best version of yourself you can be.Many people say it's obviously to be more positive than negative, however, some of us all fall into viewing things negatively and it's hard to be an upbeat and positive person. Whether you're looking to progress in your career, invest in property or start your own business, it's hard when you're negative and pessimistic in your mind, body and soul. And in today's episode, Steven shares with you the mindset and attitude you need to have to begin viewing things with a positive attitude. KEY TAKEAWAYS There are three ways you can look at a scenario in life: View it worse than it is - If you have this kind of mindset it will make your situation 10x worse. Viewing it in this way doesn't give you any empowerment and puts you in a state of fear and anxiety. View it as it is - Be content with the situation and move on. View it better than it is - Everybody is human and everybody miscalculates situations. In life you will go through tough times, you'll make mistakes, climates will change, financial markets will change, goverment policies will change, taxes will change, your health could go up or down. There will be a whole host of things that happen to you that are completely out of your control. View your scenario slightly better and take control, don't let it take control of you! Chanel your aggression and your fearfulness into the right things in life and speed up your recovery time by having the right attitude and being your best self. BEST MOMENTS "In life, you either step up or step out" "You either bounce or you break" “Your gut tells you that you have a chance if you have the right attitude” “Weather the storm, embrace it and becover the very best version of yourself that you can be” “You learn more through the challenges in your life than you do when you're in your glory days” “Refine your business model, get educated and become sharper and as a result, you will become wiser and stronger” ABOUT THE HOST The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. My view is you should focus on a number of key areas to be a well-rounded individual. Success should not be just one thing like money, for example, it should also consist of a healthy fit lifestyle and thriving relationships. As a person who has made a success in life and also made some cock-ups, I can offer suggestions and tips on how to become successful or at least start your pursuit of success. I started from leaving school at 16 with very poor school results to pursue a career in plumbing following the directions of my parents that then lead me to a barrister's chamber and then to a sales floor. From here, I established a foothold in the sales market promoting financial products as well as being a founder of an art agency that has a Soho based art studio. In addition, I have invested into an urban fashion brand and into a wellness tech company, and my latest addition to the business portfolio is a property company that which creates HMO's in Medway, Kent. The diverse range of industries I find myself in has allowed me to create wealth that enables me to be my own boss so I can pursue my dreams. As a former boxer and avid sportsman I find there are similarities between the running of businesses and competing. In my episodes, I will be sharing some of my experiences to explore deeper these connections and how they may bring you success."
