https://youtu.be/Sf04z6hh7FA?si=EY0mImcBjLjptfuf Taking Hatred Head-on - 4 - Restoring What Hatred Broke   Welcome to Redemption Church of Plano TX. My name is Chris Fluitt!   Hatred Head On   Hatred is widespreadHigh Cost.Fight Hatred with Peace   ME I have felt the sting of betrayal?   I remember a time when people I trusted deeply let me down… I was 20 years old… working in a church…   Intense hurt – cut them off…Revenge thoughts… Dark I almost gave up on my ministry calling…   WE:Been there? Anger and resentment take root, and you think, "They don't deserve my kindness." “They deserve my worst…”   -Marriage misunderstanding-Harsh words from a friend -Broken trustAftermath… isolated and hurt.   The world's game plan…retaliate, revenge, to cut ties, or to hold grudges.   Deep down, we know that this approach doesn't heal our wounds; it only deepens them.   What if there's a different way to respond? Restoring what Hatred Broke There is an alternative to remaining in the wreckage of hatred.   GOD: What would God's alternative look like?   Matthew 5:43-44 Jesus is preaching his most famous sermon – the sermon on the mount. Matthew 5:43-44 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”   There are natural instincts…You hate me… I hate you.You hit me… I hit you.You hurt me… I hurt you.   Notice what Jesus does here…Jesus commands & challenges us to rise above our natural instincts.   Jesus points at our enemy and says…Love themPray for them   Not popular…Difficult…Kind of annoying Jesus…   Here are the proceeding verses…. 38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.   Eye for an eye… Tooth for tooth…(Exodus 21:24; Lev. 24:20; Deut. 19:21)This is reference to the laws found in the Old Testament. If someone hurt your eye, you had a legal right to hurt them back.   This principle in the Old Testament law was a guideline for proportional justice, ensuring that punishments fit the crime without allowing for excessive retaliation.   Jesus offers the alternative of grace over the mechanism of retaliation. (Matthew 5:38-44)   Jesus offers an alternative eye for eye, tooth for tooth… Do we reject his alternative? It's not about… ignoring the hurt or remaining in abuse…but choosing to respond with love instead of hate.   The brokenness of hatred is all about retaliation.Jesus gives an alternative that leads to reconciliation.   Reconciliation - The process of restoring broken relationships   Jesus gives us a clear path for reconciliation in Matthew 18:15. Matthew 18:15: If your brother or sister sins *against you*, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.   Notice: “If they SIN AGAINST YOU.” NOT they annoy you… looked at you funny… didn't invite you to a party. BUT THEY SIN AGAINST YOU! Lie, Steal, Harm, Kill you… A lot of conflict is personality conflict that we should not escalate. If they did not SIN against you… the problem is YOU! Go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. Direct communication. Do not text. No gossip. Talk to THEM only! This is grace! “If they listen to you, you have won them over.” The goal of conflict is to regain who was lost; a Brother or Sister.Reconciliation, Not Retaliation   Quick pattern study from your Bible…(Spouse) Adam & Eve conflict (Gen 3) – Blame & Shame – Difficult to reconcile.(Sibling) Cain & Able conflict (Gen 4) – Revenge and murder – became impossible to reconcile.

What does it really mean to experience "revival" in our lives? What does Jesus say about it? Does it always have to be something big, serious, and intense in order to experience revival? In this episode, we dig into what Jesus means when He says He longs to revive every part of our lives-- no compartmentalization! How do we invite Him into every area, especially the dry, dreary, and even dead parts of where we are that we are afraid to be exposed? God wants you to experience the fullness and abundance of abiding in His presence and truly believing that He can restore anything. I am asking the question: How would your life be different if you lived like you were dying? I decided in my early thirties to live for myself, and my life's priority was to find a husband and get married. That was what I was living for. I went to church and was involved in church, but I lived for me. I didn't number my days, as we read in Psalm 90; I never thought about how fleeting my life was. I lived only for the here and now, wanting what I wanted and wanting it now. It looked at the time like the road to happiness, but it was just the opposite. It was the road to despair and disappointment and failure. God in his incredible grace has redeemed me, forgiven me, and given me new purpose and joy. But how much better had I numbered my days, recognized this life is short and been willing to do God's will and not my own. That's why I'm talking this week about living like you're dying. Living for eternity. Think about this: If God called you home today, what would you be remembered for? Some years ago, God showed me I would be remembered as being busy. In fact, it became clear to me I found my identity in being busy, showing the world how much I could do, and then getting the recognition that came my way. I actually had a vision of my tombstone, and on it was written, “Here lies a busy woman!” Now, understand, it was not wrong for me to be busy—to be doing what God had given me to do and using my gifting in his service. But my motivation was suspect; it was not pure. I wanted—and still do at times—the praise of people. So, what would be written on your tombstone if today were your last day on earth? Here lies a successful business person Here lies a good dresser Here lies a good singer Here lies a great organizer Here lies a very creative person Here lies a really smart person Or maybe: Here lies a worrying woman or man Here lies a fearful person Here lies a lazy person Here lies a person who had no vision Here lies a person who refused to be disciplined Think of the possible tombstones for some people in the Bible: The Apostle Paul: Here lies a man who fought the good fight and finished the race and kept the faith. Moses: Here lies the humblest man who ever lived. Esther: Here lies a courageous woman who was willing to risk her life for others. Mary Magdalene: Here lies a woman who lived her life for Jesus because he rescued her from her sin. Deborah: Here lies a woman who stepped way out of her comfort zone—way out of traditional roles—to do what God called her to do. Mary, the Mother of Jesus: Here lies the most blessed woman who ever lived. Think about the people who have influenced your life. For example, on my mother's tombstone I could write: Here lies a woman who loved the Word of God. Here lies a woman of total integrity. Here lies a quiet, simple woman who blessed everyone in her life. It's really important you live like you know this life is not the end-all or be-all. You're living for eternal values—you're living like you're dying.

What does it look like to glorify Jesus with our words? Jesus has SO much to say about words! And what do we use every single day to communicate with those we love, those we just meet, and everyone around us? WORDS! The words we speak to others, our prayer life, our internal chatter, and the words we receive on a daily basis— all of these facets are vital for us to recognize where we invite life or death. The power of the tongue is a game-changer in every situation, season, and struggle. What direction are you steering if your tongue is the rudder? Does it please God? Johannes 13:36-38 Simon Petrus vra Hom: “Here, waarheen gaan U?” Johannes 13:36-38 Simon Petrus vra Hom: “Here, waarheen gaan U?” Die goeie nuus kom, my vriend. Die goeie nuus kom.Dit is God se Woord. Everyone, or most everyone, has good intentions, right? We WANT to live a life that is full of purpose, driven in the right direction, and expands the Kingdom of Heaven. Yet, how many times do we get to the end of our days, or even our years, and think, "Why wasn't I more intentional with my time?" In this episode, we dive into FOUR QUESTIONS we can ask Jesus to get more intentional with our time, our resources, and our energy in every season. Realistic, relatable, and raw for right where this finds you. Don't get to the end of 2023 wishing that once again, you had lived differently. Sit with Jesus and get intentional today because we all know, life surely will try to distract you :) PREORDER "The Miracle of You" children's book here: https://amzn.to/3E5mLgG Order "Radiate: 90 Devotions to Reflect the Heart of Jesus" HERE: https://amzn.to/3xGwF2R Buy the "Focus: How One Word a Week will Transform Your life" devotional that goes along with this podcast! And when I hear Him, do I have the faith and courage to follow? In this episode, Cleere dives into three different things God is teaching her right now...3 things that the Holy Spirit has continually prompted and brought to her spirit... 1. How do we find order? We all crave it. 2. Are we supposed to avoid tension in our relationships? Can it truly be helpful? 3. What happens we talk about how big Goliath is? Does it help us fight? We're talking about how to be kind to you when you start anything new. This could be a new season, a new job, a physical move… anything that's new. If you're ready for a deep exhale as you feel the panic, grief, and overwhelm of a new season, listen in. In this episode, we're breaking down: What you're feeling What's changing And what's true. So no matter when you listen to this or what change is taking place -- maybe it's a promotion or a new homeschool curriculum or a dynamic at home like a husband who's been working from home and is now returning to the office --I want you to be kind and compassionate to yourself.   But how? In the middle of all the craziness, it seems like we only have time to survive, not figure out how to be gentle with our hearts, plans, and people. Here are 5 gentle + practical ways to be kind to yourself: Think of this new season as a science experiment.  Remember that you will figure it out.  Draw boundaries.  Reach out to friends who will help you verbally process what you're feeling and who don't believe they need to fix it.  Take a pause.  Align your priorities with your reality.  Key Quotes The tears you cry in your most grief-afflicted moments are liquid words telling you what's most important.  Grief comes to each of us at different rates of speed; it's not a linear process.  Please don't devalue your loss and look for ways to downplay it or say it doesn't matter.  God goes before you. He walks with you. He hems you in from behind. And He lives within you. God's grace covers all your mistakes and He fills in the gaps for you.  He has gone ahead of you, knows exactly what you need, and created good, good plans for you. Sometimes we believe the lie that freedom is the ability to do whatever we want, go wherever we please, and have whatever we desire. However, we see that with Jesus and throughout Scripture, a life lived like this ends in destruction, anxiety, fear, shame, and confusion. The abundant life is ONLY found in trusting God, obeying Him, and believing that the boundary lines He has drawn for our lives are in pleasant, secure places. God never leads us to places that restrict our lives; rather, He protects them. His instruction is always preserving our future, regardless of how it may feel in the moment. Do we trust HIs heart? Or we get discouraged by what we thought would happen, the expectations we placed on the work, or the stress that is induced by it, and we wonder: What does all of this even amount to? Faith in Christ: The Often-Watered-Down Message

Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you are disqualified. (2 Corinthians 13:5 NKJV) What is being in the faith? Without question, it is faith in Christ Jesus. I don’t think any believer would argue with that, but just in case, here are some verses about it: Acts 3:16, 6:7, 14:22, 16:5, 26:18; Romans 3:22, 26; Galatians 3:22; Philippians 1:27, where a parallel is drawn between the gospel of Christ and the faith of the gospel; Colossians 1:4, 23, 2:5, 7, 12, and so on. First Timothy 3:13 settles it for me: “in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.” The following portion of the Scripture tells us exactly how the faith in Christ is defined. Do you want to know what the Apostle Paul called the faith in Christ? It is clearly stated when Paul preached to Governor Felix and his wife Drusilla. 24 And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 25 Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self- control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid (became frightened, “trembled” in at least 7 translations, terrified, much alarmed) and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.” (Acts 24:24, 25 NET- parenthesis- my comment) Faith in Christ was defined in this passage as a message that expounded on righteousness, self-control, and judgement to come. What? Really? Does that sound like most modern-day “gospel” messages concerning faith in Christ? That was the essence of Paul’s gospel message. Some would say that there is no need to tell sinners they need self-control or to speak of judgment because that would not be very loving towards them, but Paul did that. Some may think that to speak to sinners about righteousness is a waste of time, or not something that will be conducive to their conversion, and that it may turn them off to the gospel. Tell that to the Apostle Paul. The text calls righteousness, self-control, and judgement to come a “faith in Christ” message. Have our gospel messages been missing some things? Righteousness, self-control, and judgment as the definition of ministering the faith in Christ sounds almost identical to what Jesus said the Holy Spirit was sent to do. “And He, when He comes, He will convict (expose, convict, reprove, rebuke) the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.” (John 16:8 NKJV) What Paul stated to Felix, and what Jesus said to His disciples, were both referring to the same thing. Paul used the term “self-control” when talking about “sin”. The connection between sin and a lack of self-control should be obvious. If you sin, it is because you did not exercise self-control. Self-control is control of your actions by the Word and by the power of the Holy Spirit. “Self” does not infer that you are by yourself or that you are alone in this matter. It infers that the action starts with you. The Holy Spirit is not your enforcer, but He is your Helper. (John 16:7) In other words, the Holy Spirit will help you to do what is right. He will not make you obey God’s Word, but He will help you to do what is right according to God’s Word. The word convict (Gr. elegcho) in John 16:8 is translated in Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon as “reprehend severely, call to account, correct, to show one his fault.” The same word is found in 2 Timothy 4:2, 1 Tim. 5:20; Titus 1:13, 2:15; Hebrews 12:5, and in the words of Jesus in Revelation 3:19: As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. (NKJV) Rebuke, that is, to reprehend severely, call to account, correct, to show one his fault must come when a lack of self-control is evident. (See also elegcho in John 3:20, 1Corinthians 14:24, and Ephesians 5:11.) Sin is the result of a lack of self-control that opposes God’s Word and commandments. James 1:14-16 in the Amplified Bible clarifies the process of sin from lust or some evil desire, to conception, and to execution.  The word elegcho in Luke 3:18, 19 is translated rebuked: 18 And in this way, with many other exhortations, John proclaimed good news to the people. 19 But when John rebuked Herod the tetrarch because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, and because of all the evil deeds that he had done. John the Baptizer was proclaiming the “good news” or the gospel to the people, and it was not at all sugar and spice and everything nice. Go back into Luke chapter three and begin reading from verse three. You will see all the elements of rebuking, such as “reprehend severely, call to account, CORRECT, to show one his fault.” He called those practicing sin “offspring of vipers”! That was not your typical sermonette with all smiles and niceties! 7Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance, and don’t begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones! 9 Even now the ax is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. (Luke 3:7-9 NET) Then, to top it all off, he had the gall to call Herod the tetrarch to account because of his adulterous relationship with the wife of his brother. Verse 18 says that even with all of John’s rebuke, correction, conviction, exposing, and calling to account that it was THE GOSPEL, the proclamation of the good news! And in this way, with many other exhortations, John proclaimed good news to the people. (Luke 3:18 NKJV) Good news of the gospel? Does Luke chapter 3 sound like our interpretation of what can be included in a good gospel message? No, it does not! It makes one wonder if something could be missing from our gospel messages if it is only preaching about salvation, healing, and the blessings of God! Yes, there is something terribly missing if that is all the people hear out of their preacher or pastor. Sometimes, there must be rebuke, correction, conviction, exposing, and calling to account. These cannot be left out when necessary, that is, IF it is a real gospel message. John was a minister according to the meaning of a true gospel message. Even Jesus was tough and no-nonsense often, and He was specifically anointed to announce the good news or gospel message. (Luke 4:18) Take a look at Matthew 23 where He viciously rebukes the hypocritical among the Pharisees, and slams Jerusalem for killing the prophets sent to it. Read the whole chapter. It's an eye opener. Does the following sound like any "good news message" we know of today? Remember, Jesus said this, and it was not "sugar and spice, and everything nice." I say this because many think all Jesus taught was love and acceptance (tolerance), and He was always soft toned, and tame as a little lamb. Nothing could be further from the truth! Here are some excerpts from the fiery preacher and astonishing powerhouse known as Jesus: "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!... Therefore you will receive greater condemnation... Fools and blind... You make your followers twice the sons of hell that you are... “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence... For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness... "  And, one more for the road:  "Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?"  Jesus was no pushover. In Revelation chapters 2 and 3 His rebukes and calling into account were hard and often harsh. It is true He also praised the churches when they did what was right, but He held nothing back in His messages to the churches when a sharp rebuke was necessary.  Now read in Mathew 11:20-24 and the Master's rebuke against the cities of Bethsaida, Chorazin, and Capernaum because even though great miracles were done in them, they refused to repent. He condemned Capernaum to hell (Hades)! That was good gospel preaching, but wait because there is more. So, you want acceptance or tolerance in the words of Jesus? Here is His idea of acceptance and tolerance for those that refuse to repent and continue in their sin. Are you ready? It's a spanking for the backside! 23"And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.” (Matthew 11:23, 24 NKJV) There's your tolerance.  I’ll never forget one brother in the Lord, himself a minister and teacher, that told me before I stood to preach and minister, “Brother, just preach Heaven to them. Give them Heaven!” I knew something was off, but it took me some time to learn from the Lord what it was. If all you do is preach “good or inspiring verses” and uplifting and positive messages without the other we have been talking about, then we have missed Heaven’s idea of good news. It may not seem like all of what John the Baptizer preached was good news, but that would be an assessment from a human perspective. From the Scriptural perspective, and therefore from God’s viewpoint, it was all good news because it brought conviction and correction. John’s gospel message called people to account and allowed the Father to work on their hearts so repentance would come, and real change could take place in their lives! Think about that. Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, and he had an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language, and people. (Revelation 14:6 NET) Are you ready for a shift in your thinking? It will shock all those that think “gospel” is sweetie pie and kind preaching. It will shock all those that think we should have sweetness in our gospel message because if it gets too harsh people will leave or tune out the message.  Next is a sample of the eternal gospel, but pay close attention to the content. It covers areas not traditionally understood as a gospel message. 7 He declared in a loud voice: “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has arrived, and worship the one who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water!” 8 A second angel followed the first, declaring: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great city! She made all the nations drink of the wine of her immoral passion.” 9 A third angel followed the first two, declaring in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and takes the mark on his forehead or his hand, 10 that person will also drink of the wine of God’s anger that has been mixed undiluted in the cup of his wrath, and he will be tortured with fire and sulfur in front of the holy angels and in front of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke from their torture will go up forever and ever, and those who worship the beast and his image will have no rest day or night, along with anyone who receives the mark of his name.” 12 This requires the steadfast endurance of the saints—those who obey God’s commandments and hold to their faith in Jesus. 13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: ‘Blessed are the dead, those who die in the Lord from this moment on!’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “so they can rest from their hard work, because their deeds will follow them.” (Revelation 14:7-13 NET) Gospel announcement included revelation, instruction, rebuke, correction, mention of God’s anger and wrath, the lake of fire for the followers of the beast, and the hour of God’s judgment! It pointed out the immorality of those following Babylon’s example. Notice that gospel preaching includes faith in Jesus, but also mentions obedience to God’s moral commandments. It even speaks of the coming judgment where believers will be rewarded for their good works. Wow, all that and a call to the fear of God to headline that gospel message! Does that sound anywhere near to what many believe to be the gospel message? Gospel includes a whole lot more than salvation, healing, deliverance, and the blessing of God. Gospel includes more than telling people about the plan of salvation and the Lord Jesus.  Here is more proof of what I am writing about. 9 Realizing that law is not intended for a righteous person, but for lawless and rebellious people, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 sexually immoral people, practicing homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, perjurers—in fact, for any who live contrary to sound teaching. 11 This accords with the glorious gospel of the blessed God that was entrusted to me. (1 Timothy 1:9-11 NET) What? Paul says that these are in accord or agree with the glorious gospel message. That means that within the gospel message there will preaching against these sinful lifestyles and practices. Why, because at times there must be exposing of these things. There must be correction and calling to account even before the lawless, rebellious, ungodly, sinners, unholy, profane, murderers, sexually immoral, practicing homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, perjurers and for all those that live contrary to sound teaching. That means that sound teaching will teach people to live contrary to all those things mentioned or inferred.  The references in Luke, Revelation and First Timothy reveal that the gospel includes all these elements usually not associated with “gospel preaching.” What gospel message are you listening to? In general, many in the body of Christ have gotten away from such preaching themes. Messages have been watered down to the place they often sound like psychological hogwash and not like the Bible. At one church I attended, they brought in some foolish person to teach that women see through pink glasses and men through blue. Could you imagine that instead of going to the Scripture, they were teaching that nonsense to couples at Church? I exited and never went back after the first few minutes of the man’s psychological talk. It was all talk with ZERO anointing! It was all an offshoot of the “women are from Venus” and “men are from Mars” psycho-babble that is really against the sound teaching of Scripture. So many churches have moved away from real strong gospel messages, and have embraced messages of self-help, cotton-candy, sugar-coated fluff meant to “inspire” the senses instead of informing, rebuking when necessary, correcting weird and wrong ideas, exposing sin, and revealing the truth of God’s Word. Churches have often become country clubs and entertainment venues with no power from heaven, no anointing, and no conviction. Some started with an anointing, and later lost it by trying to become respectable and likeable.  Some have gotten away from ministering to the sick through the laying on of hands (of course, dead churches don’t do that anyway), and many no longer pray in public for people to be filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in other tongues. I am speaking about so-called Spirit-filled churches or Pentecostal, Charismatic, Full-Gospel churches. Many no longer have altar calls. If they pray for people to receive Jesus, it is done without an altar call. Everybody is led in a prayer and the “saved” no longer make a public confession of their faith in Christ Jesus. Have you noticed that some churches let altar workers pray with those that stay after the service is dismissed? The pastor rarely prays for people. Other churches, instead of teaching the saints according to God’s Word, they entertain their audience for an hour or two! Hollywood style entertainment has invaded many churches with their “broad is the way” (known as Broadway) replacing the straight and narrow way Jesus taught. 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13, 14 NKJV) So, what did Paul preach according to the faith in Christ to Felix and Drusilla? Here it is in a nutshell. 1. Righteousness: The main points: * It is a gift (Romans 4:23-25, 5:17) received upon initially believing and trusting in what Jesus did and provided for us when God raised Him from the dead and we confessed Him as our Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9, 10). *The gift can be interrupted by sin, but confessing our sins before the Lord, we can be forgiven and cleansed from all un-righteousness, restoring our relation to God. See 1 John 1:7-10, 2:1,2. *Righteousness includes righteous living according to God’s moral commandments. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him… Little children let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous… In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. (1 John 2:29, 3:7, 10 NKJV) See also Titus 2:11, 12; and compare it with Titus 1:8, where a leader must be “righteous”. If righteousness is only a gift that has nothing to do with conduct or lifestyle (Christian character) then why bother to list it as a qualification? No, Paul taught that righteousness is also a lifestyle of doing what is right. See also 1 Timothy 6:11- “pursue righteousness, godliness” and 2 Tim. 2:22- “flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” Even after our initial cleansing in the blood and the renewal in the Spirit that placed us in His righteousness, we must pursue righteous living as an everyday reality. 2. Self-control Main points: Self-control is “self-restraint, temperance, control of ones passions, desires, and sexual impulses.” It means to control yourself according to God’s word and commandments, His requirements. You dominate your body’s unruly desires. The Holy Spirit will not do it all for you. He requires your personal and individual participation. He will empower you to have dominion over your body and rule over any passion or evil desire that would try to get you off the Word and holiness. It is God’s armor, but we must put it on. God will not put the armor on you. (Eph. 6:10-17) We are to put off the old man and put on the new man. (Eph. 4: 22, 24) We cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light, and we put on the Lord Jesus (Romans 13:12-14) The above means that every Christian has a daily responsibility. Every day we are to take up our cross and follow Him. If we do not put on Jesus today, then we are without Him during that day. If we do not put on the armor of light daily, then it never will come on you on its own. Nothing is automatic in God’s kingdom and you have responsibilities, orders, commandments, requirements, duties, and something is demanded of you daily. Some have said, “Oh, I just couldn’t help it. I just had to do it.” Lies, Lies, Lies! That person didn’t submit to God and did not resist the devil. (James 4:7) They yielded to the unrenewed mind, conformity to the world, and the old man. They yielded to works of the flesh. Nobody made them do anything. They did it! Examine every time you ever did something wrong. I have and I know that I yielded to sin because I flat out desired the wrong thing. I let the wrong thing get into my mind and work on my flesh, and I sinned! It was not God’s fault but my own. An admission like that demonstrates spiritual growth when you are willing to admit or confess your faults and receive forgiveness and cleansing from the Lord. (See James 5:16. And 1 John 1:9.) That truly demonstrates humility when you admit your wrongs and come before God in repentance. (See Proverbs 28:13.) The humble are the ones that get the grace (1 Peter 5:5, 6). Examine yourself whether you are in the faith! Isn’t that our main text from 2 Corinthians 13:5? 3. Coming Judgment Main points: Eternal judgment in Hebrews 6:1, 2 is one of the principal teachings of Christ. Eternal judgment is both for the righteous and the wicked. There is eternal judgment and a judgment that comes on those that refuse to repent and continue to practice sin. *Judgment on the wicked: Revelation 20:4, 12, 13, 21:7. *The judgment seat of Christ: 2 Corinthians 5:10. *Judging yourself so you stay out of judgment while on the earth: See 1 Corinthians 11:29, 34. First John 1:9 is a great and powerful gift to the followers of Jesus. It is our way out of certain judgment and our way back into cleansing, forgiveness, and the unchanging righteousness of Jesus. For forgiveness and cleansing, all we have is His shed blood for us. He is the propitiation (satisfaction) for our sins (1 John 2:1, 2), and His blood cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7) We have much more to say about all this, but that is sufficient for today. Hear the podcast Repentance Part 10 and be mightily blessed!

Many people don't know who Jesus is or what Jesus did.Is that such a big deal? It’s a really big deal, because if we don’t know who Jesus is or what Jesus did, then we won’t know what he can be and do for us.Imagine your Xbox or iPad freezes. No matter how hard you try, you can’t get it to work again. You decide you’ll have to just put it in the trash. As you walk sadly to the trash can outside, you see your next-door neighbor leaving in his car. You wave, he drives away, and you throw the gadget in the trash.Did you know that your neighbor was a world expert at fixing broken gadgets? You didn’t, did you? If you had, you would have taken your problem to him and he would have fixed it right away. It’s the same with Jesus. He can help people fix their greatest problem – their sin and their broken relationship with God. But most people don’t realize he can do that or how good he is at it. They certainly don’t realize that he repairs us and our relationship to God free of charge! That’s why I say not knowing who Jesus is or what Jesus did is a really big deal. If we don’t know who Jesus is or what Jesus did, then we won’t know what he can be and do for us.So, who is he? Let’s keep it simple and start with two simple truths about who Jesus is. Then tomorrow we’ll look at what Jesus does. So, who is Jesus? Here’s the short answer. Jesus is God and man. Here’s a bit of a longer answer.Jesus is really and fully God: He’s as much God as our Heavenly Father is. As the Son of God, he’s always been God, is God, and always will be God.Jesus is really and fully human: He’s as human as you and I are. He was not always human, but became human when he came to Bethlehem as a baby boy 2000 years ago. And he’s still really and fully human today in heaven. And he will be forever. Why is it important to know who Jesus is?If we know he’s God, we’ll know he can fix our biggest problems. His power can help us.If we know he’s human, we’ll know that he understands our lives and sympathizes with us when we’re sad or anxious. His sympathy comforts us.Knowing Jesus is God is empowering. Knowing Jesus is man is encouraging. PrayerLord Jesus, I want to meet with you as both God and man. You are God and so I can bring my biggest problems to you to fix. You are human and so I can bring my biggest pains to you for sympathy and support. Amen. You can subscribe to this podcast on iTunes and Spotify.   Fruitfulness is the natural outcome of healthy fruit trees and believers. It's how we glorify God and demonstrate that we are disciples of Christ. So of course we want to be fruitful. Recently, I talked with you about  "What it mean to follow Jesus." Jesus describes the qualifications in Matthew 16:24 NLT Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.   (If you missed myblog/ podcast, What does it mean to follow Jesus? Here’s the link. I'll put it at the bottom of this post as well.)  I've also put the link for the cheat sheet and the outline for this week's podcast. I’ve got to tell you that in John 15, Jesus takes the relationship of a believer or follower of Christ to a whole ‘nother level! His challenge and command deepens both the relationship and the responsibility from following to abiding. More than following...abiding! Let’s look at John 15. Jesus is painting a word picture that they will understand readily, but it takes some explaining when you have not been exposed to an Agrarian culture and mindset. “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Pruning seems brutal. Don’t forget the hands that hold the pruning shear belong to the Father that loves you passionately. Pruning is essential for fruitfulness. Don’t resist the pruning. Allow God to prune you, to shape you, to remove the things in your life that distract and rob you of the vitality to produce the fruit He has called you to produce. 3Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Never doubt the power of God’s Word to clean, to prune; even train us. Hebrews 4:12 NIV For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. The Bible is so much more than information for your brain… 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. Your ability cannot produce the fruit that God is expecting from your life. You must stay connected. Do you see the mandate? Not just follow Jesus, but abide in Him! It happens at the new birth. What a life changing event! 1 John 4:15   If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. Jesus purchased our redemption; paid our debt of sin. When we confess, or agree with God, Believe on Jesus and accept His gift, the result is He is in us and we are in Him. The root stock is the source of life for the branch. The root stock drinks the water and nutrients; turns them into sap and sends them off to the branches. The sap is the life blood of the grapevine. 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. Jesus is the vine. We are the branches. If we abide= fruitfulness. Don’t abide= no fruit. NONE! Do you want to be fruitful? Where is fruitfulness on your list of priorities?   You have a part in this process. How are you abiding in Him? What area can you grow in that process? That requires action on our part…so understanding what and how to do that is very important. What does God say about abiding in Him? Abide. What do you believe God is saying when He tells us to abide in Him? 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”     But to put it in context of Scripture I believe abiding is best described from Thayer’s Bible Dictionary https://biblehub.com/greek/3306.htm “to maintain unbroken fellowship with one.” What do you hear Jesus saying to you in this verse? I hope you’ll spend some prayerful thought on this verse before you answer. God wants to lead you deeper in Him. It’s a very personal thing. How do I maintain unbroken fellowship on my end?   What about you? Does His Word challenge you to abide in Him? What does that challenge look like to you?   Stay in the Word. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. When His Word abides in us, we can expect answered prayers. 8By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. Your fruitfulness brings glory to God. Did you see that the Father is glorified and it proves that we are His disciples. 9As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. Obey Obey is one of the biggest little words in the Bible. It doesn't need to be explained. It just needs to be done. Joy 11These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. His joy in you! Wow! Not temporary laughter or pleasure...I love to laugh and have fun...but you can have His enduring joy...His joy...in you! His joy isn't fragile! Download this week's cheat sheet. John 17 the Prayer of Jesus - Here, Jesus shows us that though He suffered as a man, He stayed focused on the things of the spirit. He demonstrated the only way we can win. Yieldedness. It is important for us to continually be thirsting and hungering after the presence of God and allowing the Spirit to have His way. Why is it important? We cannot understand these things in the natural. Without the power of God, without the remedy, we have no answers for those who are broken, lost in the world. God is the only one with the answer. The plan is revealed when you're desperate for His answer. And He will give you the compassion that is needed for that answer.

Investigating Jesus Part 9 Jesus' Mission - at home 14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. Luke 4:14-15 Jesus’ public ministry on earth has begun. These verses at the end of Luke 4 tell us that his mission is to preach God’s Kingdom. A reluctant John the Baptist had baptized Him and the crowds who witnessed this event. They had heard God the Father speaking to Jesus. He underwent temptations by the arch-seducer, satan, and emerged victorious from that ordeal. Now Jesus, led by the Holy Spirit, has returned home to Galilee (Luke 4:14). What did he do there and how did those who knew Him react as he grew through childhood? Jesus at home (Luke 4:14-30) Jesus is back in home territory and because of the power of his teaching, he is becoming known as a great teacher (Luke 4:15). Jesus spent some time in Galilee, became known and aroused the interest, curiosity and excitement of people. Worshipping (Luke 4:14-18): It was Jesus’ habit to attend public worship wherever he was. But what did a typical synagogue service look like in the time of Jesus? Here is the outline of a typical synagogue service at the time of Jesus in the early first century AD: Opened with a prayer for God’s blessing Traditional Hebrew confession of faith (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; 11:13-21) Prayer and readings from the Law and the Prophets Brief sermon given by one of the men or a visiting rabbi (Acts 13:14-16)  Benediction or prayer Because of Jesus’ growing renown as a teacher, it is no surprise that he should be asked to read the Scripture and give a short teaching session regarding it. Here in Nazareth, Jesus declared that the day for demonstrating God’s salvation had arrived and the day the prophets looked forward to, was going to be fulfilled in Jesus Himself (Luke 4:20). Jesus was the Servant who Isaiah had talked about long ago (Isaiah 61:1-2). Jesus’ ministry was divinely directed. It was a ministry of hope for all people and a ministry to free the spiritually oppressed (Luke 4:18).Acceptable Year of the Lord (Luke 4:19): When Jesus said in Luke 4:19 “to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour”, Jesus was referring to the “Year of Jubilee” (Leviticus 25). This was when at every fiftieth year, there was the balancing of the economic system. Slaves were released, set free and returned to their families. Property that was sold, now returned to the original owners. All debts were cancelled and the land lay bare to rest and rejoice in the Lord. Upon hearing this announcement, the reaction by the local people was at first one of astonishment (Luke 4:22) and telling each other he was the son of Joseph. But we remember and know, that Jesus was not the son of Joseph. Rather, Jesus was the Son of God, as announced by angels before he was born. Jesus Christ is the new Adam and the founder of a new humanity. All this, Jesus goes on to explain.Rejected (Luke 4:20-30): The local people of Nazareth, saw Jesus as the son of Joseph. Admiration turned to anger, because Jesus began to remind them of God’s goodness to the Gentiles. He did this by reminding them about some of the Jewish heroes of the past. People such as the great prophet Elijah who bypassed all the Jewish widows to go and help a Gentile widow in Sidon (1 Kings 17:8-16). Jesus also reminded them that another Jewish hero, Elisha, had healed a Gentile leper from Syria (2 Kings 5:1-15). Whilst those people in Nazareth could only see Jesus in their local setting, he told them his mission was for all Israel. And if Israel rejected this message of Good News, then the Gentiles would be blessed by it (Luke 4:25-27). Upon hearing this, the astonished admiration turned to furious anger (Luke 4:28-30). Salvation is no longer restricted to Israel but for every child of Adam – every human. Jesus’ mission was not only to be Israel’s saviour but the world’s saviour. When Jesus quoted the proverb “no prophet is accepted in his hometown” (Luke 4:24), he revealed his knowledge of Old Testament history. He knew that God’s messengers often were rejected, and even as God’s Son, he was rejected as well. Next week we look at Jesus away from home. Rabbi Yeshua (Jesus) very plainly said that those who continue in His Word are truly His disciples (talmidim). The purpose of this podcast teaching is to provide a model for the works … AND … the workers of Messiah Jesus. Personal examples and experiences will be provided―as well as resources― to help YOU―the reader and listener―be ALL God wants you to be. ________________________________________ DISCIPLESHIP: THE MODELMIRACLES OR RELIGION ~ A MIRACLE PODCAST PRODUCTION ~ JESUS IS YOUR ROLE MODEL Two-thirds of Jesus' ministry was concerned with―or directed at―healing. “And it came to pass also on another Sabbath, that He entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on Sabbath; that they might find an accusation against him. But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, 'Rise up, and stand forth in the midst.' And he arose and stood forth. Then said Jesus unto the religious leaders, 'I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on Sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?' And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, 'Stretch forth your hand.' And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. And the religious leaders were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.” (Brit Chadashah: Luke 6:6-11) Jesus could well have asked them, “Why are you so angry with me?” Why do you think the religious leaders were angry with Jesus? Here may be some reasons: They were jealous of Him. (They had NO power … only control of people.) He was drawing away their followers. He was shining the light on their superficiality. JESUS STILL WORKS TODAY Several times in the past I have been invited to speak in public high schools in Southern California USA. Even though public prayer and Bible reading were banned years ago, the drug problem was so bad in these schools that they knew Jesus could help them. In every public high school where I spoke, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit operated through me. In EVERY high school the LORD would show me a student (that I did NOT know) and a situation in their body. Then, I would call them forward and share with them what the LORD had told me about them. I would pray for them … and EVERY time they would be instantly healed. One time a denominational pastor called me on the phone after I had been on a campus where the LORD had healed and saved a girl that previously had been the biggest “bad-mouth” against Jesus on that campus. He said, “We have worked for years on that campus trying to gain a foothold … and you come in and cause “commotion.” I asked him politely, “If you mean by 'commotion' that students were praying to receive Christ after a girl was healed and saved, then I guess I am guilty.” It wasn't one week later when I received another invitation to come to a High School in Orange County to speak. Right before I left to drive to the school I called that denominational pastor and told him, “I received another invitation to speak at a public high school a few days ago. I am just leaving to go there, and I wanted to ask you if it is OK to heal on the Sabbath?!” Then I hung up. He never bothered me again. JESUS HAS PRECEPTS Today we see many large churches. Does this mean the sheep are being fed, or does it mean they are being fed but NOT nutritious food. Lots of restaurants cater to large crowds but does that mean the food is nutritious? Large churches (mega churches) are NOT necessarily a sign of productive ministry in the eyes of the LORD. To be a productive church the shepherd leader must attempt to form and lead a POWER church: a real New Testament church. Programs and cell groups mean nothing if people are not being instructed in the ministry precepts of Jesus. WHAT are those precepts? Let's look at what Jesus instructed His followers to do: 1. Preach and teach; 2. Heal the sick; and, 3. Cast out demons. Also, let's look at the Great Commission: " … teaching them to observe ALL things whatsoever I have commanded you …" (Matthew 28:20) Pastors that do NOT minister healing and the Baptism in the Holy Spirit are cheating their flock out of 67 percent of the ministry of Jesus. They are omitting 2 out of 3 parts of Jesus' ministry. They preach and teach but they are NOT serving healing or deliverance―#2 and #3 shown above―to their people. This is corruption. It is stealing … it is cheating God's people AND the people who could be saved by witnessing the healing and miracle power of God. Why do they do this? Usually because they do NOT believe in healing. Or, they will tell you, "I believe Jesus can heal," or, "We have had people healed." However, the TRUTH may be that they do NOT know HOW to minister healing so they dismiss it. That is, they either do NOT believe Jesus will heal, or they do NOT have the faith to pray or believe for healing. The same applies to MIRACLES … real miracles! The truth is: to minister healing and deliverance they need the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Healing ministry should be a part of all church worship services, or at least one service a week designated for healing. But what about people who are sick, diseased, bound, or afflicted who come to ANY service in need of healing, deliverance, or prayer? The same applies to the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and instruction concerning it. CONTINUE IN HIS WORD “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, 'If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed.'” ‒ John 8:31 I recently told a man who is struggling in his walk with the LORD, “Do me a favor: Don't get religious … just follow Jesus!” The only Bible instruction he is receiving is one time a week at the church he attends where he is told from the pulpit to write in three (3) words in an outline from the pastor's sermon. I explained to him that he needs to study―and learn―the Holy Bible if he wants to grow strong … for himself and for the LORD. Now … what are your ministry gifts (for others) from the LORD? Are you a writer? A pastor? A prophet? A film editor? And … you may have a combination of gifts with which the LORD has enabled you. However, whatever your gifting(s) you are to have as a primary goal the making of disciples. By God's grace, I have been involved developing disciples for over 50 years. It is a blessing to SEE what the LORD accomplishes through people who are yielded to and love Him. From ALL backgrounds of society and culture and education (or, lack of it) I have seen God do amazing things. This is what He promised: “Truly, truly, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12) MAKE DISCIPLES FOR JESUS However, I have never known a person to be a greatly used disciple that was NOT a student of the Holy Bible and that was NOT reading God's Word daily. We never get too old―or too experienced―that we do NOT need to spend time in God's Word every day. When we first started the Free Bible Studies by Mail, we kept a record of progress of each student. You could visually see in a file box of 3 x 5 index cards the commitment of students (the diligence of disciples). More completed the Intro Lesson, and progressively less for each lesson completed. But … praise God for those who were diligent and completed the whole course. One Catholic Nun from New York completed the whole course and flew to visit me in California. She later wrote me that she was training a group of 1,500 people about Jesus, about the Holy Spirit and about how to operate in the gifts of the Spirit. Another young man I had the privilege of “pouring into” personally prayed with over 170,000 people to receive Christ … PLUS trained many others to do personal evangelism. (See link at bottom for his Anointed Soul Winning Plan.) Remember, AFTER people know the LORD, they need to GROW in the LORD. This is WHAT Jesus commanded us to do: make disciples. ________________________________ CHALLENGE My challenge to you is this: Pray that the LORD leads you to people who WANT to be discipled … those who WANT to learn God's Word … and GROW and SERVE the LORD. ________________________________ Almost every day I am discipling people. These are in addition to those I have ordained into the ministry … and in addition to the various ministries the LORD has assigned me. We have so many tools available to us: texting, social media, blogs and podcasts. Remember, when this life is over it will be too late. Let's impact the world while we're here. RESOURCES TO HELP YOU Below are three (3) resources to help you: 1. Continue in His Word; 2. Operate in the Gifts of the Spirit; and, 3. Minister healing … and train others to do all three.
