Today on Uncommon Sense, we're talking about “law enforcement” and why so many people no longer feel like laws are actually being enforced equally or consistently, especially when it comes to powerful and well-connected individuals connected to the Epstein scandal. We discuss the growing public frustration surrounding the unreleased and heavily redacted Epstein files, the lack of visible accountability for elite predators, and why so many Americans feel the justice system has failed women, children, and vulnerable people. We also talk about why local police departments, sheriffs, prosecutors, and public officials should be demanding full transparency and supporting the release of the complete unredacted Epstein files so the public can see the truth plainly. This episode also goes into the broader leadership crisis facing America and much of the world: weak leadership, fear of confrontation, and silence in the face of corruption. We discuss the need for stronger moral leadership, stronger families, stronger communities, and men willing to stand up publicly against evil instead of shrinking back from difficult conversations. If laws are not enforced equally, trust in institutions collapses. If justice is selective, people stop believing justice exists at all. It's time for courage, accountability, truth, and leadership again.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app

Ever heard an alcohol ad that tells you to “please drink responsibly”? Or a gambling ad that warns, "when the fun stops, stop”? Or been urged to reduce your carbon footprint?     The message is basically the same: These products and activities have risks. But mitigating them, well, that's on you. How did we get this idea that it's our personal responsibility to make a dent in big problems like climate change—and not the job of the government to impose regulations? That's the focus of the new book It's on You. Host Flora Lichtman talks with behavioral scientist and It's on You coauthor Nick Chater, about how he and his colleagues played a role in shaping a narrative of individual responsibility, and how to change it.  Guest: Dr. Nick Chater is a professor of behavioural science at Warwick University and coauthor of It's on You: How Corporations and Behavioral Scientists Have Convinced Us That We're to Blame for Society's Deepest Problems. She was on her way to becoming a classical pianist, with auditions at Juilliard and the Conservatoire in Paris, and then she made a decision that surprised many: she walked away. What followed wasn't a straight career path, but years of trial and error. Keika tried many different roles: from bartending and working airport security to studying political science, building a fashion brand with her sister and working in consultancy. From the outside, It might look scattered, but it became one of her biggest strengths: learning how people behave and how to read the room. This episode might make you pause and ask yourself whether what you're building is actually aligned with who you are, and remind you that nothing you try is ever wasted.Read more about the Women Authors of Achievement (WAA) Podcast via waa.berlin/aboutFollow us on Instagram & find us on LinkedInSubscribe to our newsletter via waa.berlin/newsletter ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

The Imago Dei

Hope Church Johnson City

At the heart of this message lies a profound truth that reshapes how we see ourselves and every person we encounter: the Imago Dei, the image of God pressed into humanity. Drawing from Genesis 1, we're reminded that while God declared all creation 'good,' only humanity was created in His image and likeness—a distinction that makes us 'very good.' This isn't about becoming little gods ourselves, but about being similar representations of our Creator, bearing His imprint in ways no other creature does. The message challenges us to recognize this divine image not just in people we love, but in the difficult coworker, the annoying neighbor, the referee who makes bad calls, and even the unborn child. When we truly grasp that every human being—regardless of skin color, gender, socioeconomic status, or past mistakes—carries God's fingerprint, it transforms everything: how we park our cars to make room for seekers, how we serve in church, how we respond when someone wrongs us, and how we engage with a world that desperately needs to see Christ. The call isn't to perfection but to repentance when we fail, and to action in recognizing that we've been placed in this exact moment in history for God's purposes. Understanding the Imago Dei means seeing beyond political debates about abortion, slavery, or human dignity to the biblical truth that every life matters infinitely because every life reflects the Creator.**Sermon Notes:****Introduction:**- Pastor Will welcomes the congregation and introduces the focus on the part of Hope Church's mission statement: loving people.- Brief recount of the sermon series progression, from loving God to the future of Hope Church, and now to loving people.**Main Points:**1. **Distinction Between Animals and Humans:**  - Humans are different from animals due to the Imago Dei, the image of God.  - This concept emphasizes the inherent value of all humans irrespective of any social or economic distinctions.2. **The Imago Dei:**  - Humans are created in the likeness of God, which is distinct from all other creation.  - Understanding this elevates the value and dignity of human life above animals.3. **Cultural and Ethical Challenges:**  - The sermon discusses ethical dilemmas such as abortion and euthanasia, highlighting the sanctity of human life.  - Roe v. Wade and the implications of abortion in the US are mentioned with a focus on the moral responsibility Christians have towards life.4. **Genesis Reference:**  - Emphasis on Genesis and the creation of humans in God's image.  - The mandate to fill and subdue the earth and the assigned dominion over other creatures.5. **Societal Issues and Historical Context:**  - The sermon touches upon slavery, the Holocaust, and how taking God out of the equation results in chaos and devaluing of human life.6. **The Role of Believers:**  - Believers are called to recognize the image of God in every person and to act accordingly.  - This view transforms interactions in the church, workplace, and broader society.**Practical Applications:**1. **Recognize and Respect:**  - Acknowledge the image of God in others, fostering respect and dignity towards all humans.2. **Action in the Community:**  - Actively engage in community and church activities that uphold and promote the sanctity of life.3. **Personal Reflection:**  - Reflect on personal biases and actions that might undermine the recognition of the Imago Dei in others.4. **Support Life-Affirming Causes:**  - Participate in and support organizations like Agape Women's Services that advocate for life and provide support to those in need.**Discussion Questions:**1. **Understanding the Imago Dei:**  - How does understanding that all humans bear the image of God change your perspective on difficult social issues?2. **Cultural Influence:**  - In what ways does modern culture challenge the biblical view of the Imago Dei? How can we address these challenges?3. **Application in Daily Life:**  - How can you actively demonstrate the value of the Imago Dei in your workplace or community?4. **Church and Community Engagement:**  - What are some practical ways our church can better engage with and support those who feel marginalized or undervalued in our community? These notes and questions are intended to help deepen the understanding and application of the sermon's message, encouraging both personal reflection and community discussion on these significant topics.

Our mental health crisis isn't mysterious - it's the predictable result of systematic cultural programming designed to keep us medicated, divided, and compliant. Dr. Roger McFillin conducts a disturbing deep-dive investigation into America's most popular cultural content to uncover the hidden forces driving our unprecedented mental health epidemic. His shocking discoveries include the Call Her Daddy podcast, where thousands of teenage girls celebrate STDs as feminist achievements, and mainstream media outlets that casually normalize genocide and mass violence as dinner table conversation. Dr. McFillin exposes what he believes is a coordinated three-phase assault on human psychological well-being: first, destroy healthy models of self-worth; second, desensitize the population to violence and dehumanization through media conditioning; and finally, capture these wounded souls through pharmaceutical dependency disguised as healthcare. The solution isn't more pills or endless therapy sessions - it's awakening to these toxic cultural narratives and choosing to resist them. Because once you see the programming, you cannot unsee it.
