This week we have multi-talented influencer and burlesque performer, Cassandra Cass, opening about her life, career, and transition. With humor and raw honesty, Cassandra takes us on a journey through her past, from growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, to becoming a fixture in the Los Angeles scene. She shares the emotional and physical challenges of her transition, reflecting on her relationship with her family, especially her late mother, and the trials of being a transgender woman in the 90s. In between humorous anecdotes about her burlesque performances, Thanksgiving parties with celebrity guests, and even joking about facelifts and “Armenian coffee,” Cassandra dives deep into more serious topics like dating as a trans woman, gender identity, and society's evolving understanding of the LGBTQ+ community. The conversation is as heartfelt as it is hilarious, revealing Cassandra's resilience and unique perspective on love, identity, and self-acceptance. She also sheds light on her health challenges, including a vocal cord issue that has shaped her experience, while maintaining her signature wit and grace. We discuss boundaries in friendships, shedding negativity, and the importance of intimate circles in our lives and reminisce about pivotal career moments, fashion shows, and the importance of authentic connections. Cassandra's recounting of personal traumas—ranging from family struggles, including her mother's addiction and strained relationships with her brothers, to being a survivor of transphobic violence—reveals a raw and tender side of her life story. It's a deep dive into her thoughts on family, potential motherhood, and her nurturing instincts. Though she shares her hesitations about raising children, she expresses her passion for helping those in need, especially young people who come from difficult backgrounds, hinting at a possible future of fostering and giving back. Cassandra reflects on her journey from performing in clubs to landing a role on Strut, a groundbreaking show about a trans modeling agency produced by Whoopi Goldberg. We learn about her firsthand experience with the fashion world, from working with the Slay Model Agency to the complexities of navigating fame and authenticity in a media-driven industry, including her complicated relationship with America's Next Top Model star Isis King, addressing a public fallout that brought tensions to light, particularly during a controversial incident involving Caitlyn Jenner and her tribute to the late Alexis Arquette. We wrap up our first half with Pol' reading her Armenian coffee cup grounds and he offers a vulnerable look at the relationship with the love of her life and family, particularly the evolving bond with her father and upcoming trip and shares the importance of seizing every opportunity that leaves Cassandra speechless, and she professes her shock at the accuracy of what Pol' sees in her cup. It's also being celebrated at a Newfest screening and cast reunion on April 15th at the BAM Rose Cinemas in New York City. Brian talks about what originally inspired him to write the movie, the thrill of arriving at set on Day 1 and seeing all those trucks and how hard it was to cast the movie because no agents or managers wanted their clients to play gay characters. He also shares memories of working with cast members Tuc Watkins, Guillermo Diaz, Christian Maelen and the late Alexis Arquette. Other topics include: why he chose to feature multiple Partridge Family songs on the film's soundtrack, seeing the movie Porky's behind his parents' back, playing hardball with Elaine Stritch, wanting to be blond Chris Partridge and the thrill of meeting multiple married gay couples who say that going to see I Think I Do together was their first date.

This week Joshua and Drusilla watch the classic film by Frank Henenlotter's Frankenhooker. From Wikipedia: "Frankenhooker is a 1990 American black comedy horror film directed by Frank Henenlotter. Very loosely inspired by Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, the film stars James Lorinz as medical school drop-out Jeffrey Franken and former Penthouse Pet Patty Mullen as the title character."But first! Josh goes to a horror legend's wedding, Drusilla attends a witchy book launch, and Drusilla watched Baz Luhrman's Elvis and Jack Be Nimble, a forgotten Alexis Arquette film that she loved. They briefly discuss the various Arquettes before Josh gets into Fast Times at Ridgemont High and full dong before going in on The Beaver Trilogy. Then they get into the feature and its troubled history. Both absolutely adore the film and have a history with it. They discuss some of Frank Henenlotter's other films. The movie has an innocence about it despite being transgressive. They discuss Louise Lasser and the brilliant performances of Patty Mullen and James Lorinz. Josh does a dramatic reading. Rosanna Lisa Arquette was born in New York City to a show business family. She was the first-born child of five in the third generation of the Arquette acting clan. Her grandfather Cliff Arquette played “Charley Weaver” on “The Jack Paar Show” and was a regular on the original “Hollywood Squares.” Her father, character actor Lewis Arquette, was well known as “J.D. Pickett” on “The Waltons.” Her siblings Patricia Arquette, David Arquette, Alexis Arquette and Richmond Arquette all followed her into the family tradition as accomplished working actors. She began acting as a child while growing up in a bohemian atmosphere of gypsy-like travel and communes. Her mother, Mardi, was a poet, political activist and therapist who deeply influenced Rosanna's compassionate world-view.Rosanna started working professionally as a teenager and has never stopped. She has appeared in over 70 films, which have earned over $450 million in domestic box office sales. Her vast experience in the world of film and television has inspired her to explore and expand her talent as a filmmaker into the realm of directing and producing with two highly acclaimed documentaries, 2002's “Searching for Debra Winger” and 2005's “All We Are Saying.” She is currently developing projects for both television and film through her company, Flower Child Productions. As a busy actress, filmmaker and activist, her passion for her work is matched only by her passion for her daughter Zoe Bleu Sidel, husband Todd and her family.
