Given the recent evidence of Russia's President Putin seizing Carlsberg's Baltika breweries and Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light marketing blunder, many observers wonder if brewers' early-warning systems and contingency plans don't need an overhaul in times of rising political and geopolitical risks. The board is supposed to be a company's periscope to spot any danger on the horizon. But, what if brewers' boards still seem to rely on their ability to dive under it?

Since the early aftermath of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, many major Western companies have been in various stages of divesting from Russia. Nearly a year and a half into the war, we've entered a new phase of business relations, as the Kremlin has started nationalizing foreign companies' Russian assets. The latest watershed moment occurred on April 25, when Putin issued an executive order allowing the Russian authorities to place the Russian assets of companies from “unfriendly nations” under the state's “temporary administration.” As a result, Russia seized the assets of Uniper Russia, including Uniper's 84% stake in the power generation company Unipro, which was valued at $5.5 billion before the invasion. More recently, earlier this week, President Putin placed the Russian subsidiaries of French yogurt maker Danone and Danish brewer Carlsberg under the Russian state's “temporary management,” effectively seizing these businesses. The Federal Property Management Agency has already entrusted Danone Russia's CEO position to Ramzan Kadyrov's nephew. For some guidance through this tumultuous period of international sanctions and elite business politics in Russia, Meduza spoke to Alexandra Prokopenko, a nonresident scholar at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, who worked at Russia's Central Bank and at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow from 2017 until early 2022. Ierakstu ciklā „No paaudzes paaudzē” šajā reizē stāsts par folkloru, bet konkrētāk par etnogrāfisko ansambļu tradīciju, kas pēta, izceļ lokālo tradīciju, kopienas vērtības un mantojumu un visspilgtāk atklāj tiešo pārmantojamību un mutvārdu folkloras spēku. Ciemojamies pašā Latvijas – Krievijas pierobežā pie Bozovas etnogrāfiskā ansambļa, kur dziedātāji vismaz trīs paaudzēs dzied veselām ģimenēm jau vairāk nekā četrus gadu desmitus un ar savas puses rotaļu repertuāru pošas uz Dziesmu svētkiem. Viena no tradīcijām ietilpīgākajām tautas mūzikas un folkloras formām ir etnogrāfiskie ansambļi. Tieši te caur dziesmām un arī teatralizētiem uzvedumiem visspilgtāk var novērot tiešo tradīcijas pārmantojamību, kad visplašākās vecuma un pieredzes amplitūdas ļaudis sapulcējas vienkopus lai dziedātu vai ietu rotaļās, tādējādi nododot savas zināšanas par novada, apkaimes vai kādas konkrētas teritorijas folkloru un tradīcijām jaunākajai paaudzei. Ir darba dienas pievakare, Ludzas novada Malnavas pagasta ēkā uz kārtējo mēģinājumu vai vienkārši satikšanos, lai kopīgi padziedātu, sapulcējies Bozovas etnogrāfiskais ansamblis. Šoreiz tās padsmit dziedātājas un etnogrāfiskā ansambļa vadītāja Agnese Medne. Bozova ir ciems pie pašas Krievijas robežas Malnavas pagastā. Depopulācijas rezultātā savu agrāko spozmi tas ir zaudējis, bet savulaik, 1955. gadā, te izveidojās sieviešu vokālais ansamblis, kas vēlāk, 80. gados, atmodas vēsmu iekustināts, pievērsās folklorai. Jau 43 gadus tas pastāv kā etnogrāfiskais ansamblis un pēdējos gados pulcējas Malnavā, apvienojot ne vien bozoviešus, bet arī citus apkārtējo ciemu ļaudis. „Tas atmodas laiks bija tāds liels atspēriena punkts, kad Tautas frontē bija visi ansambļa dalībnieki,” stāsta Agnese Medne, kas savu amatu mantojusi no vecāsmātes – Latvijā pazīstamās teicējas Veronikas Stafeckas, kas ilgus gadus ansambli vadījusi. „Dziedāts jau ir principā no piedzimšanas. Saprātīgi nesaprātīgi bet visu laiku ir tajā ansamblī būts kopā,” turpina Agnese. Arī tagad ansambļa jaunākajai dalībniecei ir vien divi gadi, un te dzied veselām ģimenēm. Ansamblī kopā ar Agnesi darbojas arī viņas mamma, kas savukārt par savu mammu Veronisku Stafecku atcerās – ne vien viņa pati, bet arī visas māsas bijušas lielas dziedātājas. „Un viņa tās dziesmas vilka un vilka no kaut kādas pūra lādes ārā. Tās vecās senās dziesmas. Zinu, ka viņa bija piesaistījusi savu māsu, lai tā dziesmas pieraksta, jo pati uzskatīja, ka viņas rokraksts nesaprotams. Bet vispār viņas visas māsas, manas mammas māsas, bija lielas dziedātājas. Un viņas, ja sastājās, piemēram, rotāšanās dziesmās, katra savu vilka. Un tik skaisti viņas mācēja kopā sadziedāt.” Visas dziesmas, kas nereti bija padsmit pantu garumā, tika rūpīgi pierakstītas burtnīcās. Šobrīd vecākā Bozovas etnogrāfiskā ansambļa dalībniece ir Emīlija Šķene jeb kā ansambļa dalībnieki viņu mīļi dēvē par Mileiti. Viņa ir vienīgā, kas palikusi no sievām, kas kā vokālais ansamblis savulaik 1955. gadā dziedāšanu Bozovā iesāka. Šodien viņai ir 97 gadi. Emīlijas pūrā ir daudz dziesmu, kas pie viņas atnākušas no viņas vecāsmātes. Ja Emīlija nāk no Saleniekiem, no kurienes arī viņas dziesmas, tad Veronika Stafecka ansamblī dziesmas savulaik ienesusi no Abrenes puses, vietas, kas nu jau kaimiņvalsts sastāvā. „Mēs principā dziedam Abrenes puses dziesmas, tikai to, kas ir autentisks atrasts, ko baba pierakstījusi bija. Tad, kad mums kaut ko sirdij sagribās, kādam koncertam piemēram, tad jau mēs arī citus gabalus nodziedam. Bet tā, ja vajag parādīt un iznest saulītē, tad mēs principā izvēlamies tikai to, kas pierakstīts,” stāsta Agnese Medne. Tā kā burtnīcās vecāsmātes pierakstītajām dziesmām nošu nav, visu dziesmu melodijas tiek dziedātas pēc atmiņas. „Ir dažas tādas dziesmas, kuras varbūt ne tik bieži tiek dziedātas, ar tām mums palīdz Mileite pagaidām. Pa telefonu zvanu – Mileit, kādā balsī jādzied?” Bozovas etnogrāfiskā ansambļa dziesmu pūra lielumu īsti nevar pateikt pat tā vadītāja, bet jau šobrīd vairāk nekā 30 dziesmas ir ieskaņotas Latvijas Nacionālajā bibliotēkā. Arī psalmi ierakstīti. Etnogrāfiskie ansambļi ir veids kā tiek pārmantotas tradīcijas, kā tās tiek saglabātas un aktualizētas gan caur Dziesmu svētkiem, folkloras festivālu „Baltika”, gan caur vietējām kopienām, kur šie ansambļi darbojas, saka Latvijas universitātes literatūras folkloras un mākslas institūta pētnieks Aigars Lielbārdis. „Un ar ko īpaši etnogrāfiskie ansambļi atšķirībā no folkloras ansambļiem un kopām, tas, ka tradīciju un tautas mūzikas izpildītāji cenšas pieturēties tikai pie sava novada mūzikas un cenšas atturēties no jaunievedumiem.” „Tur ir tas tiešais pārmantojums, kas netiek pastarpināts ar pierakstu, netiek pastarpināts ar nošu pierakstu, tā ir tomēr mutvārdu tradīcija, tā ir tieša mācīšanās muzikantam no muzikanta,” atzīst Dziesmu svētku folkloras programmas veidotāja un Valsts izglītības satura centra folkloras projektu koordinatore Māra Mellēna un norāda, ka mūsdienu kultūras kontekstā ir grūti nodalīt folkloras kopas un etnogrāfiskos ansambļus. Tā ikdienas muzicēšanas tradīcija konkrētā kopienā. Pirmie etnogrāfiskie ansambļi ar šādu nosaukumu  tiek nodibināti  20.gadsimta 50. tajos gados, taču etnogrāfiskie ansambļi vai etnogrāfiskie uzvedumi jau ir zināmi starpkaru periodā un pat iespējams agrāk, zina stāstīt Aigars Lielbārdis. Šobrīd Latvijas folkloras kustībā var runāt par 24 etnogrāfiskajiem ansambļiem. Un kas interesanti, etnogrāfiskie ansambļi šodienas Latvijā darbojas tikai divos kultūrvēsturiskajos novados – Dienvidkurzemē jeb suitos un Latgalē. Bozovas etnogrāfiskais ansamblis arī šogad pošas uz Dziesmusvētkiem, šie ansamblim būs jau sestie svētki. Šoreiz sagatavots vietējos seno rotaļu repertuārs.

V njej je izrazil odločno nasprotovanje italijanskemu pa tudi komunističnemu nasilju in to je plačal z življenjem. Skupaj s študentom Viktorjem Rojicem so ga (26. maja 1942) pred njegovim domom po ukazu Edvarda Kardelja in Borisa Kidriča ustrelili atentatorji, organizirani kot tajna varnostno-obveščevalna služba komunistov (VOS).

Namig za poletne dejavnosti podaja Hana Čeferin, kuratorka Galerije Fotografija in urednica nove revije za sodobno umetnost ETC, ki jo je izdal istoimenski zavod za kulturno dejavnost. V prvi številki revije, izhajala bo enkrat na leto, je predstavljenih 19 mladih umetnikov iz Slovenije in tujine. Revija predstavlja sodobno umetnost od Balkana do Baltika. Njen namen je tudi promocija slovenskih umetniških projektov v tem prostoru.

Od danes pri nas ni več obvezno nošenje zaščitnih mask v večini zaprtih javnih prostorov, prav tako ne velja več ukrep vzdrževanja medosebne razdalje. Tako je sinoči odločila vlada. Maske so še vedno obvezne v zdravstvu in nastanitvah socialnega varstva, v drugih zaprtih prostorih pa so priporočljive. Tā tas bija visu Padomju okupācijas periodu, taču, tuvojoties PSRS sabrukumam, neatkarīgās Latvijas karogs uz īsāku vai garāku brīdi tika pacelts dažos publiskos pasākumus 1988. gada vasarā – “Helsinki86” grupa ar to devās pie Brīvības pieminekļa 14. jūnijā, bet dažas nedēļas vēlāk pa kādam karogam varēja redzēt festivālā “Baltika”. 29. septembrī LPSR Augstākā padome atļāva karogu publiskos pasākumos lietot kā nacionālu simbolu, 8. oktobrī tas rotāja Latvijas Tautas frontes dibināšanas pasākuma skatuvi Kongresu namā. Latviskās idejas patriotiem bija vēlēšanās karogu darīt redzamu arī pilsētvidē, taču problēmu sagādāja fakts, ka centrālākās un vislabāk redzamās ēkas bija komunistiskās varas pārstāvju mājvieta. Talkā nāca kultūras ļaudis. Latvijas Nacionālā vēstures muzeja direktora vietnieks zinātniskajā darbā Toms Ķikuts stāsta, ka 1988. gada 22. oktobrī karogs tika pacelts Cēsu Jaunās pils tornī virs muzeja, 11. novembra pēcpusdienā – Rīgas un Siguldas Jaunās pils torņos, 18. novembrī – Valkas, Balvu, Talsu kultūras namos, Jelgavas muzejā un citviet. Ap Ziemassvētkiem karogs plīvoja jau vēl vairākās Latvijas pilsētās, arī kādā neparastā vietā – virs Saldus slimnīcas jaunā korpusa. Jauns vilnis karogu pacelšanā nāca 1989. gada pavasarī, jo īpaši ap 25. martu. Pēc 1990. gada 15. februāra, kad vēl pirms Latvijas kā neatkarīgas valsts atjaunošanas, tika atjaunoti tās simboli, tostarp karogs, sarkanbaltsarkanais brīvības karogs plīvoja praktiski visās Latvijas pilsētās.

Der Norden Eurasiens besteht aus einer Vielzahl kontinentaler Blöcke (Baltika, Europa, Sibirien, Kasachstan, Turan und Tarim), die während des Karbons und Perms kollidierten. Der paläozoische Kontinent Kasachstan befindet sich im Zentrum dieses Agglomerats. Erkenntnisse zur tektonischen Entwicklung dieses Gebiets sind von großer Bedeutung für die Interpretation der geologischen Geschichte Eurasiens. Bei der Interpretation der paläozoischen Geschichte Kasachstans treten jedoch Komplikationen auf und regionale geodynamische Modelle stehen oft schon bei grundlegenden Annahmen im Widerspruch zueinander [Zaitsev, 1984; Zonenshain, et al., 1990; Mossakovskiy et al. 1993; Sengör et al. 1993]. Prinzipielle Streitpunkte treten vor allem bei folgenden Punkten auf: (a) Der Eingrenzung und Identifikation eigenständiger Terranes, die heute in Kasachstan integriert sind; (b) Der Rekonstruktion von Driftbewegungen der einzelnen Terranes, bzw. des gesamten kasachischen Kontinents; (c) der nach der primären Geometrie des paläozoischen gefalteten Gürtels, der heute als riesige gebogene Struktur (Orokline) die Tektonik Kasachstans dominiert. Eine Klärung existierender Ungereimtheiten ist hauptsächlich durch die geringe Anzahl qualitativ hochwertiger paläomagnetischer Daten aus Kasachstan erschwert. Entsprechend wurden paläomagnetische Untersuchungen, basierend auf oben genannten offenen Fragen, in Südkasachstan durchgeführt. Gesteine des Unteren Ordoviziums bis Karbons mit ausgezeichneten Faltenstrukturen und guter biostratigraphischer Alterskontrolle wurden beprobt. Insgesamt 16 Lokalitäten (187 Aufschlüsse. 1100 Proben) unterschiedlichen Alters und Lithologie wurden untersucht. Magnetische Komponenten, die vor der Faltung erworben wurden, wurden im unteren Ordovizium (unteres Arenigian), Silur, unteren bis mittleren Devon und im unteren Karbon nachgewiesen. Die paläomagnetische Daten für Redbeds des unteren Arenigian (D= 9.2°, I=-16.9°, k=26.9, a95=15.0°) sind erste und bisher einzige Richtungen, die überhaupt für die Zeit, als die allochthonen Terranes noch getrennt voneinander existierten, ermittelt wurden. Richtungen des „South-Chu-Yili“ Gebirges (Silur bis unteres Devon, D = 346.9°, I=23.8°) zeigen nördliche Deklinationen und positive Inklinationen. Daraus resultiert bei angenommener normaler Polarität eine nördliche Paläobreite von etwa 12.4° ± 7.7°. Das erstaunlichste Ergebnis dieser Studie liefert die Koktas Formation (unteres Devon, D= 357.3°, I=+75.8°), bei welcher die paläomagnetischen Richtungen signifikant von den Referenzrichtungen für Baltika und Sibirien abweichen. Die ermittelte nördliche Paläobreite von 64° übersteigt alle für das Paläozoikum erwarteten Werte. Die Remanenzkomponente aus Redbeds des Kendyktas Rückens (oberes Devon – unteres Karbon, D=069.5°, I=+43.7°, k=26.7, a95=9.5°) resultiert in einer Paläobreite von etwa 21.8° ± 5.9° N. Die Daten dieser Studie sowie Veröffentlichungen vergangener Jahre lassen keine Rückschlüsse auf bedeutende Unterschiede bei den Paläobreiten Nord- und Südkasachstans seit dem mittleren Ordovizium zu. Allerdings weisen die Mehrzahl der paläomagnetischen Daten darauf hin, dass sowohl Süd- als auch Nordkasachstan während des Paläozoikums wahrscheinlich etwas weiter im Norden, bzw. etwas weiter im Süden positioniert waren als erwartungsgemäß als Teil Baltikas, bzw. Sibiriens. Während des Ordoviziums bis Perms driftete Kasachstan mit einer zur Bewegung Baltikas und Sibiriens vergleichbaren Geschwindigkeit Richtung Norden. Die Verteilung kasachischer Richtungen deutet mehrere Phasen magnetischer Überprägung mit signifikanter regionaler Ausbreitung an. Eine in Baltika sehr verbreitet auftretende permische Überprägung spielt dabei nur eine untergeordnete Rolle. Die in Südkasachstan nachgewiesenen Rotationen können nicht mit dem tektonischen Modell zur Entwicklung des Kipchak Bogens von Sengör et al. [1993] und Sengör and Natal'in [1996] in Übereinstimmung gebracht werden, nach dem Rotationen von rund 90° im Uhrzeigersinn relativ zu Baltika, bzw. rund 30° relativ zu Sibirien seit dem unteren Devon zu erwarten wären. Die paläomagnetischen Ergebnisse [diese Studie, Bazhenov, et al, 2003] zeigen im Gegensatz Rotationen gegen den Uhrzeigersinn. Es wird eine modifizierte Polwanderkurve für Kasachstan vorgestellt, die auf jüngeren, qualitativ hochwertigeren paläomagnetischen Daten basiert. Die Hypothese von Sengör and Natal'in [1996] (oroclinal bending) wird abgelehnt, stattdessen wird ein Modell entwickelt, mit dem die gekrümmten Strukturen Kasachstans mit Plattentektonik im klassischen Sinne erklärt werden können.
