But beads were not the only trade item, things like copper and iron were mined locally and traded as well, while the people along the coast were expert at salvaging these metals from the numerous ship wrecks that dotted the Indian Ocean sands from north of Mozambique to Cape. Metals were directly linked to status. As you've heard in our earliest podcasts, African people were using iron and copper as ornaments – and the metals were worn by warriors as a sign of bravery. So trade with Europeans was therefore directly associated with the stratification of society from the earliest days with the most important members owning the most copper and brass, gold and even iron. However, there was not enough trade with Delagoa Bay to say with certainty that trade in these kinds of products alone drove the amaNdwandwe and the amaMthethwa, then the AmaZulu, to rise as powerful centralized kingdoms. Major trading emanated from Delagoa Bay, and the Dutch took advantage of this. Ivory was the main product, not slaves, with beads exchanged in return. Gold dust was also traded from far in the interior. Tsonga traders from around Delagoa Bay pitched up as far south as the Mfolozi River. Some made it 1500km into the interior!

It is finally the end of the ChewCreek Podcast hiatus and we are pumped to welcome a new Team Member. He works at the church that I also work at, but falls under the production side at the church and is the Journey Production Manager for the church. How are we supposed to approach God when we repeatedly sin against him. We should approach God an unfaithful spouse would. but God's forgiveness is unending. He allows us to continue feeling accepted and that's what matters. Moving forward we need to deny the flesh and walk with God. No-one can judge me better than myself. It's worse than anyone would ever guess. You think better of me than I would ever deserve. Paul say's that he was chief among sinners, he realized how bad he was and how much he needs to be saved. CS Lewis mere christianity God has taken care of the "How" it's easy to believe 2+2=4; It's harder to believe E=MC^2. At one point Dave's Believing in your heart, went from a E=MC^2 to a 2+2=4 and he understood. At the time, the verse, "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." would have been an extreme commitment. Saying, "Jesus is Lord" would have equated Jesus as God and "believing that Jesus resurrected from the dead" would have been controversial. It may seem simple to do in our culture, but it would have been like taking up your cross at the time. This is Dr. Mike Chua, your physical therapist and certified dementia practitioner, and aside from me being your alternative career coach, I am the husband of Puppen Chua. I'm taking my wife, it's our anniversary today. I bought her flowers last night, bought her a perfume, and she said she’d go to just return it. But anyway, I just wanted to, of course, obviously greet my wife, who is my wife for almost 20 years now. I put there above “How do you become an awesome wife?”, “How do you become a better wife to your husband?” Follow the word PUPPEN; P-U-P-P-E-N. So, how do you become an awesome and a wonderful wife? First, you need to be letter P, you have to be Passionate. You got to be passionate about your relationship. You have to be passionate about your love to your husband. My wife, she's very passionate. When I come home, she would sometimes surprise me and she’s very passionate about our love. In the next letter, letter U, you have to be Understanding. She’s the most understanding person in the world, whatever I want to do, she would understand and support me. If you want to be an awesome and supportive wife, you got to be understanding. You got to learn how to understand your husband. You got to support him in whatever he does, well, of course, the positive things that he does, right? Letter P, you got to be Positive. How can husband go home, he’s stressed out in his job, stressed out in his business, stressed out in his own life, and he’ll come home with a negative wife, negative nagging wife? Guess what, He doesn’t want to go home. He wants to come home to a positive, uplifting wife, who will bring out the best in him. Next letter P, another letter P. You got to be Productive. If you’re a wife, obviously you are the best. You’re a wife and a mother, you’re the most productive person in the world. My wife, imagine that, she runs her business. She has her own business. It’s a full-time gig and she’s a mother of three. And a full-time husband to me, imagine that, handling Mike Chua, right? It's going to be really, really hard. Next letter E, you got to have the Energy. My wife has the best energy in the world. She’s the first person to wake up and the last person to sleep. This morning, I think she woke up around 5:30 and I already slept by around 10:00. And in 11:00, she’s still awake. You got to have the energy. How do you get the energy? You have to exercise. She’s exercising all the time. Last but not least, letter N. If you want to be an awesome mother, awesome wife, you have to learn how to say No to the things today, in order for you to be able to say yes to the things to tomorrow. So again, what are the best ways to be awesome as a wife? First, you got to be Passionate. The next letter is you got to be Understanding. Next letter P is Positive. Next letter P is Productive. Next letter E is Energy. You got to have energy. And last but not least you have to say no. My wife said no to a lot of stuff before, because she wanted to be with me and bring up the best in me. All right, have a great day. Be Awesome, be great, be excellent. And always remember the bigger the challenge, the bigger the victory.
