Ein wenig Platforming der eigenen Ansichten betreiben, as a treat.

Troy chats to legendary composer Simon Viklund, a man who needs no introduction but will get one anyway. As the lead composer for Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Payday: The Heist and the majority of Payday 2, as well as the more recent GTFO, Simon chats all about getting into music, his time as Bain in the Payday franchise whilst writing the soundtrack, as well as going freelance and joining 10 Chambers. He also has the very first Redcast-exclusive reveal, as he shares something VERY exciting about his upcoming release of some of his Payday 2 tracks later in 2021 - you don't want to miss this... Contains infrequent use of strong language. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-redcast/message
On this week's episode, the composer at 10 Chambers, former audio director at Starbreeze, and man behind the sound design in favorites like Payday 2, Bionic Commando Rearmed, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Simon Viklund, joins host Josiah Renaudin to explain how sound gets into games. Simon details what it's like creating both music and sounds for major video games, how aspiring designers can break into the industry, whether or not you have to capture all of your own original sounds, and what makes upcoming co-op shooter GTFO special.
My conversation with Simon Viklund, the amazing mind behind Payday's pulse-pounding music!

In preparation for James Bond's return to the big screen, we have our first discussion of the classic spy franchise. Bringing his expertise and British class to the fourth chair is Jon Cross from The After Movie Diner blog and podcast. Since there are 50 years and 22 movies worth of 007 to cover, we save the drilldowns for later and cover the whole series by ranking our best and worst Bond actors, individual movies, Bond girls, villains, gadgets, and more. There are a number of revelations along the way including Pax & Jeeg not backing Telly Savalas and the fact that CT has never seen Smokey & The Bandit. This week's Nerd To-Dos feature more of The Strain series, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Ready Player One, and voiceover work for an audiobook.

After a few retro episodes, it’s all about the games of today this week. Justin, Cole, Ethan, and Gifford talk through the highs and lows of Torchlight, Dawn of War II: Retribution, Hard Corps: Uprising, Bulletstorm and say goodbye to a 360 soldier. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow It’s time to get caught up on all of the games we’ve been playing the last month. Before we do that though, we can skip over our Threesomes of the Week where Justin continues his battle against literacy. Then, our On the Spot question gets all topical to ask, “What will it take to get you to buy a Nintendo 3DS?” and it looks like Nintendo has an uphill battle with Gifford and Ethan who wouldn’t take the new handheld if it was given to them for free. Everyone selects two major games to talk about this week and we give a run down of a few others that we’ve spent time with in March. We discuss Torchlight, Bulletstorm, Mortal Kombat, Hard Corps: Uprising, among others, but only one game has the “hot key action” we’ve all been craving. The website is gearing up for our 1st anniversary so be on the look out for a few subtle changes to the site in the near future. Before the crew takes off for the night, we do a final count of how many Xbox 360’s we have lost as a group and salute Gifford’s fallen comrade.
In honor of our 50th episode we get the WORST technical difficulties we've encountered so far. BUT! Nathan demands this broken as hell show be published so I apologize in advance for Sean broken as ASS audio (luckily only for about a third of it). On the bright side Sean talks about finishing Mass Effect and the disappointment that is Pinnacle Station. He and Jon also played Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Jon also starts up Bionic Commando Rearmed (for whatever dumb reason) along with some GameBoy game. Nathan finishes (and falls in love with) Ghost Trick, goes back to the SPLENDOR that is Burnout Paradise along with some The Godfather 2. On the news front we have some possible additional DLC for Mass Effect 2. Telltale announces a The Walking Dead and Fables game along with a sequel to Puzzle Agent. DoubleFine announces that they're making a Sesame Street game and we discuss long and hard about the merit of the Dead Island trailer. Also, we decide to start doing some form of community game sessions. If you'd like to add either Nathan: Kraznor or Sean: Angel Gamerr (just these two for now and only 360 for now) to your friends lists we will attempt some form of community multiplayer sessions from here on out. Over the next week or so, we'll most likely be looking at Burnout Paradise to start things off.
This is the last week we'll talk about Mass Effect 2 until the new dlc comes out, so we gush a little more. Thankfully we do have some other games to talk about as well. They include the Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 demo, Dead Space, a CSI game demo, Trauma Center: Under The Knife 2, WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2011, the Breach demo, the Bullet Storm demo, the Black Ops map pack, and many more. Plus we have the news, some Comcast hate, and Jason plays Kinect Sports?! [H:MM:SS] - Show Time Line -------------------- Opening Song (Innocent Primeval Breaker - Ys Seven OST) [0:00:44] - Introductions [0:02:43] - Jason's Now Playing [0:56:59] - Steven's Now Playing [1:09:04] - News [2:19:38] - Wrap Up [2:21:34] - End
It's Valentine's Day, so we're talking about the video games we played over the last week. And you're listening. Jon continued with Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 and (along with Nathan) tried out the new You Don't Know Jack. Nathan also finished up with his Mirror's Edge adventure, played through Stacking, went back to Dragon Age: Origins and started Ghost Trick. Sean continued his Mass Effect 1 run by muscling through all the sidequests and venturing into the game's DLC; to top it off, he plays out the iOS game Mass Effect Galaxy. On the news end: Duke Nukem Forever gets a very limited edition, Activision cans all it's "Hero" franchises, the Sony Xperia Play phone is detailed and Fox News LOVES themselves some Bulletstorm!

Unfortunately, due to some odd technical issues, the last third of the podcast had to be cut (this included the news and emails portion of the show). Sorry for the short episode this week and the abrupt cut off ending, we will address any email questions we received on next week's show. In terms of games, Jon is playing Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 while Nathan plays through Wolfenstien, wraps up Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 2 and relives some Mirror's Edge. As for Sean, he wraps up Professor Layton and the Unwound Future and dives head first into the first Mass Effect.
