If you were going to create an 800 piece set from the original trilogy, that isn't Temple of Doom, what would you so? If Indiana Jones is Appropriate, is there any reason we should not see James Bond LEGO sets, beyond the Aston Martin? Would they be the ultimate successor to Alpha Team/Agent/ Ultra Agents. Special thanks to LEGO for providing the sets referenced in this week's episode: Thanks for listening and tuning in! Suddi Raval is a musician and audio director, who has been making music for games since 1994. We talk about fart sounds in Lego Indiana Jones, how hardware used to constrain the expression of sounds in video games, and the difference between making music for games vs. films vs. DJing. Suddi was an early member of the UK Acid House scene (Hardcore Uproar, anyone?), so we push the bass there. Warning: Suddi and I make some funny sounds at each other. * * * * * * * * If you liked the episode, please like & subscribe to the show!
Remember back in October, when we tried to guess which new fall titles would be the biggest sellers of the season? This week, we reveal the much anticipated outcome. The whole experiment was much more complicated than we bargained for, but we came away with some interesting lessons about the allure of franchises, the supposed "casual/core" dichotomy, and the shadowy world of sales numbers. Below is our list of the best selling games as well as our respective predictions. For those of you playing along, how did you do? Were there any big surprises? Did any of your favorites miss the list? Also, you may want to take this opportunity to say "hi" to Jorge. You know, put any old arguments to rest, or maybe say something nice just to show you care. Life is unpredictable: one day you're on top of the world and next you're writhing in intestinal anguish after indulging in some laxative-infused tiramisu custard... Actual List (as calculated by us): 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii 3. Wii Fit Plus 4. Assassin's Creed 2 5. Left 4 Dead 2 6. Dragon Age: Origins 7. Borderlands 8. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves 9. DJ Hero 10. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Jorge's List: 1. Modern Warfare 2 2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii 3. Wii Fit Plus 4. Band Hero 5. Uncharted 2 6. Left 4 Dead 2 7. Assassins Creed 2 8. Lego Indiana Jones 2 9. DJ Hero 10. Dragon Age Scott's List: 1. Wii Fit Plus 2. Modern Warfare 2 3. New Super Mario Bros Wii 4. Lego Indiana Jones 2 5. The Fall release season is upon us, bringing with it its annual gaming bounty. While it may be humanly impossible for us to play all of the new releases, nothing is stopping us from trying to guess what other people will play. This week, Jorge and I channel our inner Michael Pachter and enter into a gentleman's agreement: We each came up with a list of what we believe will be the top ten best-selling games released between October and December. When February rolls around, we will take revisit our predictions and score them based on their accuracy. The winner will enjoy a (hopefully) tasty dessert of their choosing...made by the loser! Food, games, and gambling: What could be better? Below are our respective picks. As always, feel free to jump in with your choices in comments section. What are your predictions? While we can't promise dessert for anyone that beats us (or can we...?), the victory will undoubtedly be far sweeter than anything made by mere mortals.Jorge's List:1. Modern Warfare 22. It’s the last episode of Season 3 of One Life Left and we have an agenda. That agenda: to tidy up all the loose ends from the other shows in Season 3, to apologise and move on. It’s a departure from our previous (unwritten) agendas which, for Simon at least, mostly involve swearing and libel. But Simon isn’t here. In his place, no-longer-a-mystery-guest Jonathan Smith, who calms Ann’s nerves with a steely gaze and fearless hands. That will make more sense after you’ve heard the news. The news which, because you demanded it, includes a post-news-section gossip with someone who attended the Rock Band conference. Extra news, only a week late! Fear not, though, because we manage to get through a lot in our final hour-and-five minutes. We have two phone guests. We have four features. We have two incredible WORLD EXCLUSIVE REVIEWS, a scoop so great any other podcast would be issuing press releases right this second: one of Grand Theft Auto IV and one of Lego Indiana Jones. Beat that Major Nelson! Or anyone else we care to pick a fight with, frankly. And then, at the very end of the episode, something truly awesome: some Other Business. You can wait for that. Do wait. It will be worth it. Any Other Business could refer to another part of the episode too, which is almost entirely unedited. You will notice the part where it is particularly unedited. It would have been almost effortless to cut it out but we have left that in because we found it funny. It is super indulgent but hey, this is the last show, and perhaps gives those who weren’t ever able to make it to a preamble a taste of what that was like, i.e. surprises, muffled noises, nonsense and giggling. The sound on #72 might be a little worse than on previous shows. We’ve had a few problems with the desk today, to the extent that for a couple of hours it looked like the show wasn’t going to happen. We’re going to refit studio OLL shortly. We’re looking for way to fund that. We’re thinking of selling t-shirts! Or Ann’s hair. And that’s it. Thank you to all our guests and contributors, thank you to Resonance FM and to Eurogamer and thank you all so much for putting up with us this season. It has been a genuine pleasure. We’ll see you soon, we hope – if not in Malmo or at the (recently postponed) One Life Left Wrap Party then for Season Four. Keep checking onelifeleft.com, thetriforce.com or our Facebook page for details on that. We’ll let you know as soon as we do. Love, The One Life Left Team xxx PS: If you didn't know by now, we have a last.fm group! That's new, and a brilliant way to compare notes on awesome music with other listeners. We are very close to the 500 mark on Facebook, so help us surpass that by clicking here, or identify yourself as a fan to others on that same site by clicking here. Our MySpace is here -- clicking around our friends list there is a good way to find out about the bands on the show. The OLL forum is here and if you want to email us with letters or things to play you can do so at the address in the show: team at one life left.com.
