On this episode, Chris is joined again by Brian Ellis, Co-Founder and CEO of Fourbie Exchange. They discuss shifting macroeconomic drivers caused by tariffs, the past performance and their outlook on the broader collector vehicle, truck, and 4x4 markets, changing marketplace dynamics, and which trucks and 4x4s are winners, losers, buys, sells, and holds. In the first quarter of 2025, the collector vehicle market continued to balance out and experience stabilization and appreciation. The first quarter saw several historic record-breaking transactions and a momentous dollar volume milestone. As the first quarter concluded, volatility in the macroeconomic landscape, caused by politically motivated tariffs, brought uncertainty back to the collector vehicle market. Though the first-quarter metrics were promising, a changing macroeconomic landscape could impact the performance of the collector vehicle market for the remainder of 2025. Although there are some soft spots in the truck and 4x4 markets, generational change continues to drive truck and 4x4 values, highlighting the segment as a new class of "blue-chip" collector vehicles. Time will tell what the rest of 2025 has in store, but we are cautiously optimistic.Follow, Like and subscribe to the podcast on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and your podcast listing platform. Though there are some soft spots in the market, overall collector vehicle sellers aren't giving anything away and buyers aren't getting smoking deals. The collector vehicle market has balanced out and both sides of the transaction are walking away satisfied. On The Philosophy of Nature: A Guide to the New Essentialism (2002). What kind of metaphysics underlies chemistry and physics? Ellis argues that items such as chemical elements and physical particles have essences, and that these essential properties determine their behavior, which is characterized by scientific laws. It's finally here #stanleycupplayoffs @nyrangers vs @njdevils after #devils set franchise record for wins 52 & points 112 this #nhl season. First game in #nj on Tuesday. @ny_islanders will go against @canes in first round. @nhlbruins @nhl record 65 wins & 135 points. Greatest #regularseason ever. But you don't win the #stanleycup in April. @raysbaseball 13-0. Next record is 1884 #stlouismaroons who started the season 20-0. #javierbaez #hustle is the easy part for an #mlb player & knowing the outs in an inning. Love @tigers #ajhinch sitting him down. @yankees only gave up 9 #runs in the first inning in loss to @twins @yankeesrecaps that's why they play 162 games. Love #nwsl increasing prize money for #challengecup this year. #nbaplayoffs all day tomorrow. @nyknicks need a healthy #juliusrandle to compete with the @cavs but I could see them stealing a game in #cleveland in a series that could go seven games. Curious if the 11-30 road record will change for @warriors in postseason & @sacramentokings 16 year #playoff drought over. Should be electric in #sacramento tomorrow night. The #usfl is back. @premierleague getting rid of #gambling sponsors on front of jerseys by 2025. But can still be on sleeves. They should be completely gone in my opinion.

Calling all Galanthophiles, this week Alan Gray (a self-confessed Snowdrop addict) and Thordis (doing her best to resist!) are joined by two gardeners who long ago succumbed to Galanthamania. Award-winning Garden Writer, Val Bourne, shares her experiences of growing Snowdrops in the Cotswolds, while Brian Ellis, who sells many special varieties of Galanthus talks from the Norfolk perspective. The conversation winds from the extraordinary people who make the Snowdrop community so special, to the varieties Val and Brian hold most dear. And while the gang didn't get to mention all the things they wanted to, there's certainly no shortage of specatular Snowdrops to set your heart racing. On today's episode, we have Brian Ellis on the pod to discuss his business and the industry overall
With Gov. Jay Inslee announcing on Wednesday that Phase 1 COVID-19 restrictions will remain in place for at least another three weeks, many businesses throughout the Tri-Cities are fighting to stay open. With indoor dining banned under the current guidelines, restaurants have been putting up tents and canopies to establish outdoor dining areas. Those temporary structures must still meet local fire and building codes, and Cpt. Brian Ellis with the Kennewick Fire Department encourages business owners to consult with local agencies before setting up an outdoor space that may not comply with fire safety regulations.
Decking the halls with candles? Captain Brian Ellis with the Kennewick Fire Marshal's Office has some recommendations and reminders on how to stay fire safe during the holidays: Choose holiday decorations that are flame resistant or flame retardant. Keep lit candles away from decorations and things that can burn. More than 1 out of 3 home decoration fires are started by candles. Consider using flameless candles, they look very similar and are safe. Blow out lit candles and turn off all strings of lights and other powered decorations when leaving the room or going to bed. Make sure your decorations do not block windows and doors.

From the time we are born, everything is finite. There is a beginning and an end. The sun rises and inevitably, it sets. Years come and go. Happy moments have an end, and even the sad ones will pass. So what happens with life? We are born, and eventually, we die. But does death represent the end? Or do we persist in some way? There are many beliefs regarding what might lay in store for us once our mortal bodies close their eyes for the last time. Naturally, it can be scary to face death. It can be terribly sad when someone we care for has to move on. But perhaps we can find some solace in the idea that infinity exists. The expanse of the universe doesn't have an end. The number pi goes on forever. The possibilities of where life can take us are endless. So, amidst all of these infinities, we can take up hope that endings are not permanent. The sun does rise again, and there will be more happy moments. After we pass through this life, our loved ones might be waiting for us, as Anne Rutherford says, in The Blue Remove. On today's episode, enjoy the following:“The Blue Remove” by Anne Rutherford from Living in the Driveway: Stories of Finding Our Place (10:58)Anne Rutherford grew up in Pennsylvania along the Susquehanna River. In this story, however, she talks about somewhere else. A place just outside of Denver, Colorado, with a magnificent view of the Rocky Mountains through the eyes of a young girl named Gracie. Gracie loves to look at the mountains in the distance, as they're beautiful blue, the color of the horizon. She later finds out they are not actually blue, but they come to represent something much bigger than just mountains, something that can give her comfort when she needs it the most. “The Cow-Tail Switch” by Charlotte Blake Alston from Wadin' in the Water (5:04)Memories are important. That's why so many people keep journals, take photos, or record certain events. We celebrate Memorial day to remember those who have fallen while serving in the armed forces. Remembering and honoring those who came before us can be a great way to let them live on. In the next story, remembering does a little bit more. Starting with a father who disappeared on a hunting trip, Charlotte Blake Alston relates the tale of a family who moves on a little too well, forgetting him entirely. That is, until the youngest son is born and realizes that unlike everyone else in the village, he doesn't seem to have a father. “Stan” by Dan Keding from from The Gypsy Wagon and Other Neighborhood Tales (7:28)Having someone close to you pass away is never an easy experience. It hurts and sometimes hurts until you wonder if the hurt will go away. Interestingly enough, it isn't always a bad thing to hurt. Pain can teach us things, like not to touch a hot stove. It can also push us to be better and do good for other people. For Dan Keding, a storyteller who grew up in Chicago, one such painful experience revolves around one of his childhood neighbors. His name was Stan, and although he was much older than Dan, he was a good friend. Through sharing his life of experience, he was able to help Dan and after he died, Dan realized his story could help others, even though it hurt. “Lost Jimmy Whalen” by Barry Cloyd and Brian “Fox” Ellis from River Ghosts (3:36)A song by storyteller Brian Ellis and Musician Barry Cloyd. Ellis found his love of storytelling when he was young, telling stories to his friends and listening to stories around the campfire during hunting trips. Cloyd sings, writes, and performs music as well as stories. Together they founded Prairie Folklore Theatre, a touring theatre company. This song, about a young woman who lost her dear love, might change your opinion about ghosts. We often think of them as scary, but maybe they're just the remnant of good people, moved on to another realm. “Why I Don't Fish Anymore” by Alan Hoal from Why I Don't Fish Anymore (16:49)Having a loved one pass away is not the only way we can lose someone. Sometimes they move far away or fade out of our life because their life takes them another direction. Just because they're not gone doesn't mean, however, that it's easy to let them leave. This story, by Alan Hoal, is about a pet catfish. And although it's funny and not necessarily truthful, it does illustrate how a pet running away can hurt. Radio Family Journal: "Celebrity Bookshelf" (6:00)Listening to some of these stories about the comings and goings of important people in a person's life reminds Sam of a childhood memory of fantasy of possible interactions with people with whom he didn't have any connection. Here's another entry in Sam's Radio Family Journal.
Some of the world's best stories involve what can only live in our imagination. Why is it that we love exploring fake worlds with characters that we know aren't real? Well, for one thing, it allows us a brief escape from daily life. All of us need that every once in a while. We also love exploring new ideas, creatures, and places. But perhaps the most important reason fantasy appeals to us is because it gives an unbiased view of the human experience. Without rules of the real world we can see what it means and how it feels to be human regardless of where the experience takes place. Today's episode features a collection of tales all about the fantastic. From dragons, to fairies, to a magical horse and talking animals, we have stories from Jess Smith, Kevin Cordi, Brian "Fox" Ellis and more. On today's episode, enjoy the following:“Dragonory” by Jess Smith from Dragonory (10:37)Who is the best storyteller? We all have our favorites, but have you ever considered that the best storytellers aren't actually human? Jess Smith, a storyteller from Scotland happens to know such a thing. A dragon. History is full of them, and they're often terrifying. But, according to Jess, they're also great with a story. And while most of them are gone from the world, there is still at least one around. “The Whispering Bridge of Fukushima” by Kevin Cordi from Wisdom Keepers: Unlocking the Puzzle, Wise Tales and Wise People (6:37)What's a story without a moral? Well, one could argue that stories without morals are important, that they teach us that things aren't always black and white. However, stories with a moral are also important. They teach us how to be good, that there are consequences for our actions. A lot of fantasy stories have a strong moral, including this one, about a girl who fell in love with a man who turned into a tree. Her father was not pleased, and determined that the only solution was to cut down the tree. However, forcing someone to do what you think is best for them doesn't always work out how you might think. “Kevin and the Lady” by Rosie Cutrer from The Blackthorn Walking Stick and Other Tales (9:45)Rosie Cutrer has been described as a “tour de force in storytelling”. She has been performing professionally for fifteen years. In this tale, she describes the life of a young man by the name of Kevin. While stuck in a job that he hates, trying to support his family on a meager wage, he still has the heart to be kind. His kindness, however, gets him fired. Depressed, he makes a deal with death in order to keep his family fed. When all seems lost, it is his original kindness that makes all the difference. “The Puka and the Pennywhistle” by Brian "Fox" Ellis from Under an Irish Oak (7:11)Which is more important? Money or ability? One could argue either way, and there are strong cases for both. Money can make more money. Ability can end up making money too. But one thing remains clear, you can't get anywhere with either without action. However, sometimes, a little bit of help is needed to take that first step. Brian Ellis tells of a boy who plays the pennywhistle. He's quite bad at the beginning, and it isn't until he stumbles upon a magical gathering during the longest night of the year that he is able to take his pennywhistle to a new level. “The Sleeping Porch” by Jane Stenson from from The Connecticut Woods (13:18)Have you ever had an experience where you couldn't figure out whether or not you were dreaming? When you wake up the next morning you have to think about it for a while because it felt real. Maybe you find out it was a dream, but maybe you find out it wasn't. The next story takes place in that in between state. Not quite a dream, not quite real. But maybe it was real. The story comes from Jane Stenson, who grew up in Connecticut.
