IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Frank Ferrante Mr. Ferrante is an actor, director and producer, and recipient of New York's Theatre World Award for 'Outstanding Debut,' a New York Outer Critics Circle nomination, London's Laurence Olivier Award nomination for 'Comedy Performance of the Year,' Washington D.C.'s Helen Hayes nomination and two Connecticut Critics Circle Awards. His international and PBS performances in the title role in Groucho: A Life in Revue received not only acclaim from critics and audiences but from the Marx Family. Frank is one of the busiest touring performers in theater today with over 3,000 performances as 'Groucho' internationally in 500 cities. Ferrante was discovered by Groucho’s son playwright Arthur Marx when he was 22 and was subsequently cast to portray Groucho for the heralded 1986-87 production of Arthur's off-Broadway production Groucho: A Life in Revue. In 1996, Frank starred Off-Broadway in the 'Groucho' role in the Marx musical The Cocoanuts written by George S. Kaufman who Ferrante portrayed in his one-man show By George - which he also wrote. And three-and-a-half decades onstage, Frank has performed before millions of audience members including some talented friends: Sean Penn, Hal Holbrook of Mark Twain Tonight, Robin Williams, Carol Channing, and Kaye Ballard; each one utterly impressed by his talent. Off stage he has appeared on Children's Hospital and provided voice-work on SpongeBob Square Pants and The Garfield Show. And along with his acting work, Frank is also the owner of Groucho Marx Productions, Inc. which represents the name and likeness of the iconic performer. The film of his stage show An Evening With Groucho premiered in March, 2021 in Austin, Texas and on October 19th, of this year, Frank will receive a ‘star’ in Palm Springs, California on the Walk of Stars on Palm Canyon Drive. Frank joins us from his home in Los Angeles. It’s not by me - it’s by an ACX reader who will remain anonymous until after voting is done, to prevent their identity from influencing your decisions. I’ll be posting about two of these a week for several months. When you’ve read all of them, I’ll ask you to vote for your favorite, so remember which ones you liked. - SA] In 1879, a man asked "How come all this new economic development and industrialized technology hasn't eliminated poverty and oppression?" That man was Henry George, his answer came in the form of a book called Progress & Poverty, and this is a review of that book. Henry George is variously known for leading an early movement that popularized Universal Basic Income, sporting a fancy beard while shouting "The Rent Is Too Damn High!" and inspiring a popular board game that was shamelessly ripped off and repackaged as Monopoly. But he didn't just write a book. He also ran for Mayor of New York city in 1886, beating out some rando Republican named "Theodore Roosevelt," but ultimately losing to the favored candidate of Tammany Hall, who saw George's radical economic ideas as a threat to their well-oiled political machine (Andrew Yang take note). He ran again in 1897 but died just 4 days before the election, prompting a national outpouring of mourning. According to Ralph Gabriel's Course of American Democratic Thought, in New York alone 200,000 people came to see his body lying in repose, half of which had to be turned away. For context, that one crowd was roughly the size of 1% of the entire population of New York at the time. I'm writing this book review for three reasons: George's arguments about land, labor, and capital present a fresh alternative to conventional ideas about "Capitalism" and "Socialism" (and whatever we mean by those on any given day) The book has timeless advice for navigating modern crises such as ever-rising rents, homelessness, and the NIMBY vs. YIMBY wars. This is a golden opportunity to shamelessly over-use the catchy phrase "By George!"

Trying to find your message. Describing what you want to be known for. Finding what the right words, where the right people say, "Heck yes, count me in. I want to follow you to the ends of the earth." It's hard, it sucks, and it's frustrating. There's so much trial and error that it feels like you'll never get it right. One minute you think “By George, I’ve discovered it.” The next moment you say to yourself “What was I thinking?” The fact is that you are too IN your head to find your message. The words spin around like a record player. You’re just too close to be objective. How do I know this? I see it all the time with my clients Recently, I was working with a client, and she showed up to our session rather frustrated. She said to me, "Doc." (She likes to call me Doc.) "I've been thinking about this 3 Word Rebellion all week, and I just don't know what mine is. I have no clue." So, I took her through the 3 Word Rebellion framework and 20 minutes later, ah-ha, we found it! And you know what? It's something she says all the of the time, but she was so IN her head that she couldn't see it. Here’s the rebel truth: You don’t have to struggle to find your message! Here are three awesome strategies to get you the raw material you need to find your message that you can change the world with.

Soon, the Twelfth Doctor, Bill and Nardole are facing an invasion the likes of which they have never seen before. Before they invade, the aliens need the permission of humanity.
