In this Beatles-themed Game Day spectacular, we begin with Alicia's Season One story of the terribly trashy love triangle between Beatle George Harrison, his wife, model Pattie Boyd, and guitar legend Eric Clapton. Seth and Marc get deep into the psyche of an obsessive man depraved of love with the song Got My Mind Set On You as made famous by ex-Beatle George Harrison. Originally written by Rudy Clark and first covered by James Ray, when you start to do some digging, the lyrics bring about more questions than they answer.
Cinquisitor Ethan recounts the rise and fall of ex-Beatle George Harrison's once-great (but now defunct) film production company, HandMade Films. This was the British mini-major responsible for some of the greatest sources of CINEMANIA ever to erupt out of Perfidious Albion, including Time Bandits, The Long Good Friday, Withnail and I, and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Listen to this tragic tale of good intentions brought low by self-dealing, and raise a glass to toast what was and what might have been. Loraine was the longtime partner of Alvin Lee through his rise to fame as the lead singer and guitarist of Ten Years After, and Chris Wright was the band's manager in the same period. This is a highly unique conversation between two people from the heart of the Woodstock era of Rock'n'roll, exposing what really went on among the stars. Plot:In AD 932, King Arthur and his squire, Patsy, travel Britain searching for men to join the Knights of the Round Table. Along the way, Arthur debates whether swallows could carry coconuts, passes through a town infected with the Black Death, recounts receiving Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake to two anarcho-syndicalist peasants, defeats the Black Knight and observes an impromptu witch trial. He recruits Sir Bedevere the Wise, Sir Lancelot the Brave, Sir Galahad the Pure, and Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot, along with their squires and Robin's minstrels. Arthur leads the knights to Camelot, but, after a musical number, changes his mind, deeming it "a silly place". As they turn away, God appears and orders Arthur to find the Holy Grail. Arthur and his knights arrive at a castle occupied by French soldiers, who claim to have the Grail and taunt the Britons, driving them back with a barrage of barnyard animals. Bedevere concocts a plan to sneak in using a Trojan Rabbit, but no one hides inside it, and the Britons are forced to flee when it is flung back at them. Arthur decides the knights should go their separate ways to search for the Grail.A modern-day historian filming a documentary on the Arthurian legends is killed by an unknown knight on horseback, triggering a police investigation. Arthur and Bedevere are given directions by an old man and attempt to satisfy the strange requests of the dreaded Knights Who Say "Ni!" Sir Robin avoids a fight with a Three-Headed Knight by running away while the heads are arguing amongst themselves. Sir Galahad is led by a grail-shaped beacon to Castle Anthrax, which is occupied exclusively by young women, who wish to be punished for misleading him, but he is unwillingly "rescued" by Lancelot. Lancelot receives an arrow-shot note from Swamp Castle. Believing the note is from a lady being forced to marry against her will, he storms the castle and slaughters several members of the wedding party, only to discover the note is from an effeminate prince. Arthur and his knights regroup and are joined by three new knights, as well as Brother Maynard and his monk brethren. They meet Tim the Enchanter, who directs them to a cave where the location of the Grail is said to be written. The entrance to the cave is guarded by the Rabbit of Caerbannog. Underestimating it, the knights attack, but the Rabbit easily kills Bors, Gawain and Ector. Arthur uses the "Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch", provided by Brother Maynard, to destroy the creature. Inside the cave, they find an inscription from Joseph of Arimathea, directing them to Castle Aarrgh. An animated cave monster devours Brother Maynard, but Arthur and the knights escape after the animator unexpectedly suffers a fatal heart attack. The knights approach the Bridge of Death, where the bridge-keeper demands they answer three questions in order to pass or else be cast into the Gorge of Eternal Peril. Lancelot easily answers simple questions and crosses. Robin is defeated by an unexpectedly difficult question, and Galahad fails an easy one; both are magically flung into the gorge. When Arthur asks for clarification on an obscure question about swallows, the bridge-keeper cannot answer and is himself thrown into the gorge. Arthur and Bedevere cannot find Lancelot, unaware that he has been arrested by police investigating the historian's death. The pair reach Castle Aarrgh, but find it occupied by the French soldiers. After being repelled by showers of manure, they summon an army of knights and prepare to assault the castle. As the army charges, the police arrive, arrest Arthur and Bedevere for the murder of the historian and break the camera, ending the film. TOP 51: Done on an incredibly small budget, the Pythons found funding from an unlikely sources—rock bands. Groups like Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, and Pink Floyd helped get the money up for the production, with a portion of the funds coming from the Floyd's album “The Dark Side of the Moon.” This is a trend that would continue later with The Life of Brian, when a large portion of the funding came from former Beatle George Harrison. When Harrison was asked why he funded the film, he responded “Because I wanted to see it.” 2: The film also represents the directorial debuts of both Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam, who decided that anyone named Terry got to direct the Pythons' first film. Attempting to co-direct at the same time led to conflicts, so the Terrys split up the responsibilities with Jones handling the actors while Gilliam worked on the cinematography. They'd go on to direct the remaining Python films together and Jones would additionally direct Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, while Gilliam's lengthy directorial career would include such artistic classics as The Fisher King, Brazil, Time Bandits, Twelve Monkeys, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, and more. 3: The vicious Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog had parts of its fur dyed red to represent the blood of the knights that it spilt with its large, pointy teeth. Unfortunately, the dye used wouldn't wash out afterwards and the rabbit's owner was furious. 4: By the time the Pythons actually got around to doing the credits, they'd run out of money. As a result, the credits were very simple and Palin decided to spice them up a bit by adding the Swedish subtitles and llama references. When the film was shown for the first time at Cannes, firemen rushed in at the end of the credits to evacuate the audience due to a bomb scare. The crowd didn't leave at first because they thought it was part of the show. 5: n part due to the low budget, Chapman and Cleese did all their own stunts for the Black Knight scene. The two used heavy swords and some acrobatics for added realism. Connie Booth had brought her and Cleese's young daughter to the filming, who during the fight turned to her mum and said “Daddy doesn't like that man, does he?” **TRIPLE LINDY AWARD** **REVIEW AND RATING**TreyChrisStephen 1.5Tucker 3 TOP 5Stephen:1 Breakfast club2 Saving Private Ryan3 Ghostbusters4 Sandlot5 Color out of space Chris:1. sandlots2. Kirt Webster has masterfully worked the dials behind the screens to illuminate his chosen land of the fantastic and the fanciful with bombastic bursts of eventful and often awe-inspiring sound and lights. So has been his approach to the land of entertainment. Webster has been nothing if not the skilled ringmaster of the artistic—a man in charge of directing the sequence of the three-ring circus that is show business. He came by his flair for the business of entertainment quite naturally. His early absorption in music and his relationship with his uncle, Murl “Doc” Webster, who was successful in the carnival trade, left the young Kirt with a fascination for the artistry and ‘smoke and mirrors' skill it takes to entertain an audience, or successfully direct the business careers of those that do.Growing up in Arizona he chose the inroads of country music radio and live touring concerts to provide access to the fringes of his dream of working with major artists in Nashville. As a teen, Kirt would dummy fake “all access” backstage passes to get closer to the pulse beat of the music industry and to the performers he was listening to on radio and now meeting on tour. Worthy to note that several of these “road built” relationships were destined to become his earliest publicity clients. Associations that would become long-term business relationships and friendships included major name artists of the day such as Janie Fricke and Freddy Fender who met him initially on tour when Kirt was still too young to vote.In 1995, and just breaking 20, Webster packed his Chevy S-10 Blazer with dreams and determination to reach for the stars and headed for Nashville. Setting up Webster Public Relations — first in his small apartment and soon after in a cramped space on Music Row, he soon became “the buzz” in the small town music clique of Nashville. His reputation of working 24/7 in pursuit of news placement for his clients combined with his innate ability to create “events,” that made news, quickly positioned Webster PR as a fast runner.Throughout the late 90's and early 2000's, Webster PR grew into a nationally known and respected creative home-turf for major country artists such as The Bellamy Brothers, Carl Perkins, The Little River Band, Lee Greenwood, Crystal Gayle, and The Gatlin Brothers. With Carl Perkins' passing in January 1998, it was his young publicist who helped orchestrate the top names in music — names such as former Beatle George Harrison, Ricky Skaggs, Billy Ray Cyrus, Wynonna — and even former Beatle Paul McCartney on video — to gather in Jackson, Tennessee, and celebrate a legend they had loved in a star-studded final tribute. In 2002, Webster scored a major move into representing the iconic with his signing of Hank Williams, Jr. A year later, at the request of Johnny Cash's longtime manager, Lou Robin, Webster was asked to help stage the now memorable Cash Memorial event held at the historic Ryman in Nashville. Webster worked with Robin on several Cash projects and it was even noted in the book, “The Man Called Cash,” how Kirt became a valued personal friend of Johnny and June . Orchestrating press that flew in from around the world and major artists that flocked to Nashville from literally every genre of music and performing arts, Webster's help in staging the tribute event for Johnny Cash proved to be a labor of love as well as a flawless movement of people and creativity. With his gift for “creating media magic” for the legendary careers as well as his own personal astute sense of the entrepreneurial, Webster's reputation and client roster exploded exponentially. By the mid 2000's Webster PR was the principal major publicity agency in Nashville to specialize in television and facilitate major network TV ties for their clients — CMA Awards and ACM Awards
++++++++++Song-Tipps zur Folge++++++++++ „My Sweet Lord", "What Is Life", "Isn't It a Pity", "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp", "Apple Scruffs"

From the streets of New Orleans to the heat of Los Angeles, Paul McCartney and Wings were at last finished with Venus And Mars, the follow-up LP to the wildly successful 1973 Band On The Run album -- and it was time to celebrate! What ensued was a veritable who's who of the Los Angeles music scene partying heartily aboard the permanently-docked ocean liner The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Macca's staggering guest list (reminiscent of the Wings launch party 4 years prior) included such stars as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Marvin Gaye, The Faces, Phil Everly, The Jackson Five, Dean Martin, Tony Curtis, Cher, Derek Taylor and Mal Evans. Even former Beatle George Harrison, with girlfriend Olivia by his side, was in attendance to christen the latest Wings effort. Invited but absent from the festivities were John Lennon and Ringo Starr, who themselves had a busy schedule as the spring of 1975 slowly drew to a close. Ringo O'Records, the brand new label fronted by Starr, was in the midst of its first big promotional push. Meanwhile, John Lennon would formally take the stage for (what would turn out to be) the final show of his career -- performing a variety of songs including cuts from his new Rock And Roll record at the A Salute to Sir Lew Grade: The Master Showman televised gala. A third of the way through 1975 and John Lennon still seemed very much in the public eye, but a cancelled April 14th recording session would wind up being a telltale sign of things to come in as the decade progressed... In 1977 Leonard Mogel began publishing a dark, illustrated, steampunk, and somewhat erotic science fiction and fantasy magazine called Heavy Metal, and in 1981 an adult animated sci-fi fantasy film by the same name was produced by Mogel and Ivan Reitman. The film would become a mainstay of the midnight movie circuit (along with “the Rocky Horror Picture Show”) throughout the 1980's, and would also lead to a hit album which would peak at number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart. The movie mirrors a comic book, in that it strings together a number of shorter vignettes into an entire animated movie. The shorts are loosely held together by the frame of the Loc Nar, an orb that is the ultimate evil.Filled with terrific rock tracks, the soundtrack would become mired with legal issues, causing the CD to not be released until 1995. If you wanted to hear it before that, you needed to buy the LP.We're only giving you a taste of this album, folks. You really should download and listen to it in its entirety. Friend of the show Andy Burt stands in for Bruce in this one way ticket to midnight. Heavy Metal (Takin' a Ride) by Don FelderThis is the title track by once and future Eagles alumnus Don Felder. Fellow Eagles alumni Don Henley and Timothy B. Schmit also contribute backing vocals. The track would be the only Felder solo effort to chart, appearing at number 43. The music is associated with the film episode entitled B-17. Veteran of the Psychic Wars by Blue Oyster CultPenned by Eric Bloom and British author Michael Moorcock, this song appears in the story entitled Harry Canyon. John Candy voices the Sergeant in this segment. The song itself reflects a futuristic soldier exhibiting PTSD. Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar“Headbangers in leather!” This song was written for the movie. “It's a one-way ticket to midnight! Cal it - Heavy Metal.” This iconic track is played in the segment called So Beautiful & So Dangerous. The Mob Rules by Black SabbathThe short entitled Taarna contains this track. Ronnie James Dio is the front man for this iteration of Black Sabbath. "If you listen to fools, the mob rules." This is the concluding vignette from the film.“Reach Out” by Cheap TrickWayne doubles up with his out-of-order staff pick, from the Heavy Metal Soundtrack. This track also takes place in the Taarna vignette. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK“Bad Moon Rising” by Credence Clearwater Revival"An American Werewolf in London" was on the big screen at this time, with some amazing special effects in this day. CCR contributed this song as the theme of the film. STAFF PICKS:“Gemini Dream” by The Moody BluesBrian's staff pick comes from a synthesizer heavy hit from prog rock superstars The Moody Blues. It hit number 12 on the charts, and comes from their album "Long Distance Voyager." Justin Hayward and John Lodge co-wrote this song. “Really Wanna Know You” by Gary WrightRob brings us another synth-heavy hit from the artist best known for "Dreamweaver." Wright worked closely with ex-Beatle George Harrison, and developed an affinity for eastern religion which permeates his music.“Hold on Tight” by E.L.O.Guest Andy finishes off our staff picks with this somewhat Rockabilly boogie number 2 charting track from the Electric Light Orchestra. It is off their sci-fi themed album “Time.” At the time, it was the most expensive video produced. Interestingly, it only hit number 24 in France despite the fact that it has french lyrics in the song. COMEDY/INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:“Birdy Song” by The TweetsBruce gets blamed for this comedy song choice to finish off an otherwise awesome podcast.

When fashion and pop culture intersected during the Swinging '60's in London, she was swept up into both worlds. A promising young model for cutting edge designers, she worked in Carnaby Street by day and danced at the city's most popular clubs at night where the music of the best of the British Invasion was showcased. She was Beatle George Harrison's (and later Eric Clapton's) sister-in-law, she married Mick Fleetwood, founder member of Fleetwood Mac, twice, and she was entrenched in the rock 'n roll world of fame, money, drugs and betrayal. She accompanied The Beatles to Rishikesh in Northern India in 1968 to study meditation at the ashram of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and worked in the Beatles' Apple boutique in London. It was during her 10-year marriage to rock and jazz drummer Ian Wallace that Jenny Boyd stopped her rock and roll lifestyle and went back to school, becoming a research psychologist and author with a Ph.D in Human Behavior. Bridging her two disparate paths, her Ph.D dissertation about musicians and the creative process morphed into a book that was first published in 1992 and later updated and reissued in the US and UK in 2014 under the title IT'S NOT ONLY ROCK 'N' ROLL. She has effectively lived two lives, both of them extraordinary.

Listen to the debate from the Battle of Ideas Festival 2019. Monty Python’s Life of Brian was released in the UK on 8 November 1979. The film had problems from the start, with its funding withdrawn by EMI films at the last minute, but it was rescued by former Beatle George Harrison putting up the money for it to be made. Forty years later, it would be nice to say that we’re more relaxed about religion and comedy. But in truth, while Christianity is considered fair game (notwithstanding the later controversy over Jerry Springer: The Opera), satirising Islam remains deeply controversial, as illustrated by the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the mealy-mouthed reaction to the killings by many supposedly liberal commentators and artists. Could Brian be made today? Why does it still work today? Have we lost the ability to ridicule the dominant ideas of our society? And have comedians, writers and producers lost their edge for fear of causing offence? This is Kelly Orchard’s Apple A Day. Sixty Seconds on wisdom, success and personal growth. The Power of No is helping improve lives! Today, let’s say “no” to gossip. Gossip is when we allow ourselves to engage in conversations that leave you feeling bad about yourself or others. Have you ever been a victim of some gossip? These days, its tabloid fodder, social media and cyber bullying are one of the cruelest activities that humans can put upon each other. I know that I have been subjected to unfair gossip many times in my life, and it’s just plain mean, salacious and unfortunately a popular pastime. Musician and former Beatle George Harrison said, “Gossip is the Devil’s radio.” It’s more than just idle chitchat. Remember what you learned when you were young, “if somebody gossips to you about somebody else, you can be certain that they’ll gossip about you as well.” When you say no to gossip, you set yourself up for more personal and professional growth. Hearing gossip about people may seem fun and intriguing at the moment, but you can treat people in a kinder, gentler and more compassionate way. That’s how we grow. Move yourself into a season of positive growth by just saying no to gossip. This has been Kelly Orchard’s Apple A Day… Now, go out and be fruitful! Kelly Orchard's Apple A Day is also available in print. Click here for more!
Rick Ladendorf and Craig Marshall of Prevo Health Solutions are often referred to as The Monk & The Mastermind. You'll find out why on this episode of Private Club Radio as we explore their new service to the private club industry. Rick and Craig share to amazing gifts with our audience, so make sure to stay tuned to the full episode. PREVO has been beta testing a new leadership program with private clubs from California to Florida in conjunction with Craig Marshall. Craig has mentored and met some of the world’s most successful people, including Steve Jobs, Ronald Reagan, Shirley Temple, Fred Segal and Beatle George Harrison. As a yoga monk, Craig traveled the globe for 35 years, teaching mindfulness & meditation, mentoring people from all walks of life. Private clubs that are mindful of and driven by purpose exemplify three main things: They stand up for something that they believe will deliver true value (or otherwise improve the lives of the customers). They stand out from competitors by intentionally and consistently delivering a distinctive customer experience (across all channels that is consistent with their promise). They stand firm by creating the appropriate culture (to ensure sustainable and authentic delivery over the long term). Rick Ladendorf, PREVO’s founder explains, “We have mapped the most pressing issues a club manager faces against the seven core constituencies, and then applied staff thinking and behavior patterns to an educational curriculum. Part of the training is delivered on site, and is enhanced by digital media, which resides on a platform - to provide accountability and measurement. Considering the costs associated with employee turnover – including interviewing, hiring, training, reduced productivity, lost opportunity costs, etc. – this is the actual cost to an organization: For entry-level employees, between 30%-50% of their annual salary to replace them. Some studies (such as SHRM) predict that every time a business replaces a salaried employee, it costs 6 to 9 months' salary on average. For a manager making $40,000 a year, that's $20,000 to $30,000 in recruiting and training expenses. Craig Marshall adds, “Amidst the challenge and change in today’s private club industry (not to mention in the wide world!), mindfulness is a core skill. “Mindfulness” education includes topics such as: living a conscious life, inspired leadership, aligning with your personal life-purpose, creating culture & community, becoming an innovative thinker, mastering change & transition and core communication skills. We call these the 7 Mindful Living Habits of a Sustainable Club™. The four immediate benefits from our program are: Tools to reduce stress. Ways to create greater personal responsibility among your team members. Understanding why positive focus will help everyone achieve their goals. The work-life balance necessary to create a healthy culture & avoid turnover. The goal is to build an inspired team and implement the club’s vision with all its stakeholders. Building such a culture and aligning your club’s vision with your operational plans requires specific skills, yet they will directly reduce turnover and help build a culture that will stand the test of time. This week, we talk musical royalty from the UK and the US. First, Alicia tells us the terribly trashy tale of the love triangle between Beatle George Harrison, his wife, model Pattie Boyd, and guitar legend Eric Clapton. Then, Stacie brings us back across the pond to cover the fascinating but heartbreaking story of Ike and Tina Turner. This one’s tough, but we can all celebrate that ultimately, Tina Turner escaped an abusive relationship and followed her dreams, becoming a role model for badasses everywhere. Check out a mountain of music from our subjects this week on the web at trashydivorces.com.

RARE & SCRATCHY ROCK 'N ROLL EPISODE _044 COVERS EVERY TOMMY JAMES & THE SHONDELLS HIT SINGLE ... AND A WHOLE LOT MORE This episode spotlights one of the most popular groups of the late 1960s, whose leader would go on to a successful solo career beginning in the 1970s. They began as just another obscure garage band, but had disbanded when fate stepped in. A popular Pittsburgh radio disc jockey discovered one of their records in a second-hand store and began playing it at dances and on his show. Then an infamous mob-connected major record company owner made them an offer they couldn’t refuse and made their record a million seller. They quickly became the most profitable act on his label. Along the way, this group turned down invitations to work with Beatle George Harrison and perform at the Woodstock music festival. But they became the first rock act to tour with a U.S. Presidential candidate, who also wrote the liner notes on their most successful album. And in one of the most uncanny coincidences in rock and roll history, one of their 1969 hits might have prophesized the terrorist attacks of 9-11 that would occur 32 years into the future and four years before the World Trade Center in New York City was even built. They’re Tommy James & The Shondells. Any you'll hear their complete hit singles history ... and a whole lot more ... all right here.

Here Comes the SunThis January, 2011 Detroit seemed to be channeling 1969 London for a time. That's when Beatle George Harrison, to escape the burdens of the business world, took some time off to commune with nature and stroll around the home gardens of friend Eric Clapton. With a clear head, he emerged with his epic song "Here Comes the Sun;" a tune that 42-years later you could almost hear walking around the floor of this year's North American International Auto Show.Gone was the financial gloom of the 2009 NAIAS as well as the shrunken floor space from 12 months ago. This year Detroit welcomed back big aisles, bigger reveals and even some big names -- like Porsche -- who had been staying away. Here comes the sun, indeed. This week Autoline captures a little bit of these sunnier climes with four interviews from the floor of Cobo Hall. Joining John McElroy from Detroit, in order of appearance, are: Adrian Hallmark, the Global Brand Director for Jaguar; the President and Co-CEO of IAC Group North America and Asia, James Kamsickas; Scott Strong, the Director of Interior Design for Ford Americas; and the COO and CFO of Subaru of America, Tom Doll.
