There's an alternate timeline where Katie Holmes never meets Tom Cruise and then, decades later, her filmography rivals those of her old Dawson's Creek co-stars - at least in quantity, and probably also in quality. Send us a textCRO veteran Dylan Ander (Founder, heatmap.com) joins Jordan to spill the never-before-shared story of how he landed heatmap.com by acquiring an entire C-Corp—and why the name matters for brand authority, SEO, and inbound. We break down why GA4 falls short for eCommerce, how definitions (sessions, idle windows, engagement) skew your numbers vs Shopify, and what to use when you need buyer-truth, not vanity metrics.Dylan unveils element-level revenue analytics—Revenue per Click (RPC) and Revenue per Session (RPS)—plus the coming Revenue per View (RPV), so you can prioritize changes that actually increase cash, not just clicks. We dig into pixel-level behavior tracking (no cookies, no PII), AI insights that call out underperforming elements (e.g., a specific FAQ item), and how to catch bugs and bot traffic before they burn revenue. We also get tactical on replacing Google Optimize, the realities of SaaS pricing (and why “McDonald's pricing” works), and the rise of social search (TikTok as a top search engine) shaping product discovery more than LLM/Chat. When it comes to the 1998 thriller DISTURBING BEHAVIOR, there's no behavior more disturbing than that of critics stamping a 35% rotten Tomatometer score on it. Cannabis stocks are down 80–90% from their all-time highs, and most investors have walked away. But could that set the stage for one of the biggest contrarian trades in years? In this insightful interview, WindRock Wealth Management's Chris Casey tells Maggie Lake why he believes the cannabis sector is now trading like a distressed asset in a high-growth market. Despite being a $30B+ industry with widespread legalization in over 40 U.S. states, cannabis companies remain federally shackled by restrictive tax rules, blocked banking access, and a ban on interstate commerce.

Though he went to law school himself, Bradley used to tell people it was a waste of time and money for anyone who wasn't dead set on practicing law. Now, with the age of AI upon us, he thinks it could be the best way for young people to develop their critical thinking skills. Everybody's gotta start somewhere, and that applies to Curtis Hanson as much as it applies to anyone else. Still, it's weird to think of the man behind L.A. Confidential and 8 Mile as the director of THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE - a movie that, to be charitable, is not quite on the same league as his other work. If you ever wondered what caused the Great Nanny Unemployment Crisis of the early 90s, wonder no more. THE HAND THAT ROCK THE CRADLE is the worst kind of schlock: schlock that uses shock-value to fool audiences and critics into thinking it's profound cinema. President Trump just offered some bizarre new ramblings about the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. But he undermined himself: He claimed to know about elite Democrats and liberals who had visited Epstein. But that just raises the question that won't go away: If this is what the Epstein files would reveal, then why isn't Trump ordering their release? Every time Trump says such things, he wrecks his own Big Lie: That the Epstein scandal is a Democratic hoax that actually implicates Democrats even as he won't release the files. Meanwhile, Elon Musk just endorsed the idea that Trump might try to pardon Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell in exchange for exoneration. Musk knows Trump's machinations here are a major point of weakness. We talked to Jennifer Rubin, editor-in-chief of The Contrarian, who has a good new piece laying out why Trump should be panicking over this scandal. We discuss the absurdity of Trump's biggest Epstein deceptions, why they're unsustainable for Trump, and why it all underscores the urgency of a Democratic victory in 2026. In this mini-decoding, Matt and Chris examine Sabine Hossenfelder's recent fervent defence of Eric Weinstein and her sharp rebuke of his critics, including Sean Carroll. Sabine suggests that Eric poses a genuine threat to the physics establishment and that he is terrifying them by exposing their weak points. Moreover, according to Sabine, Geometric Unity, Eric's homegrown Theory of Everything, is on par with String Theory, if not better, since it wastes less money! This episode takes a critical look at those claims and Sabine's own heated rhetoric and performative outrage, examining how her defence of Eric aligns with a broader online anti-science contrarian ecosystem. So join us as we ponder whether Sabine is a brave, truth-telling rebel challenging a stagnant scientific orthodoxy and defending an honest man who is under attack for simply daring to question the powers that be... or whether she is just another contrarian YouTuber pandering to anti-science sentiment, defending fellow influencers, and playing the game of algorithm-driven clickbait outrage.Links- Sabine Hossenfelder: Physicists are afraid of Eric Weinstein -- and they should be- Sabine Hossenfelder: Do we need a Theory of Everything?- Decoding the Gurus: Sabine Hossenfelder: Science is a Liar ... Markets are doing what the markets do best: Consolidating following a rally. Elevated momentum signals are flipping back and forth (not uncommon), and relative strength is coming down from over-bought levels. This is keeping markets from making much of an advance. The back-and-forth debate over Fed rate cuts is also making things uncertain: The markets want a rate cut, but if inflation shows up in the form of tariff impacts on PPI numbers, that news will weigh on markets today (the report to be published after this post). None of this mitigates the risk of a 3-5% correction as early as mid-August. One of the recent "propellants" for the markets from recent lows was the under-weighting by asset managers in Tech prior to Liberation Day. Now playing catch up, they're buying up those shares to rebalance portfolios, and that's resulted in a huge surge in positioning and sentiment. (Remember, sentiment is a contrarian indicator: When everyone is bullish, and everyone has bought, that leaves a vaccuum beneath stocks, where the next buyers will be in a correction). We think we'll see that happen sometime in August or September. Lots of alpha in this one. You NEED investments like this in your portfolio if you're going to play this game the right way. And a lot of them are on sale! Imagine getting in cheap on entire sectors the world simply cannot do without, and getting paid while you watch it steadily go up and up. With limited downside! I can't think of anything better. Episode 3200: Vitaliy Katsenelson challenges the simplistic notion that value investing is about buying only the cheapest stocks. Drawing on insights from Ben Graham, Charlie Munger, and Warren Buffett, he reveals that true value lies not just in low prices but in the blend of quality, growth, and sound judgment proving that a Motel 6 mindset won't build a Berkshire Hathaway-sized portfolio. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://contrarianedge.com/values-value-investing/ Quotes to ponder: "I thought value investors were supposed to like cheap stuff." "A $36-a-night room at Motel 6 by the airport, overrun by cockroaches and bedbugs and with questionable plumbing, may be statistically cheap, but it's not a bargain." "Charlie is not a ‘sidekick'! There was a glorious time when you could watch The United States of America save the world in a movie without snickering. Today on Mea Culpa, I'm replaying an episode from last July featuring my conversation with Norm Eisen, attorney, author, legal analyst, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, founder of Democracy Defenders Action, and co-founder of The Contrarian. While chaos rains down on America and the world because of Donald Trump, I thought it was worth doing a temperature check on where we were just one year ago. At the time, Trump was still fighting it out on the campaign trail, and the biggest outrage was Judge Eileen Cannon's dismissal of the Mar-a-Lago documents case. Fast forward to now, and we're facing far more dangerous threats: ICE rounding people up in the streets, Trump's effort to shred the Constitution, and the looming threat of new wars. This conversation is a stark reminder of how far we've fallen, what's still at stake, and what we can do to save our country. Becoming an enduring part of pop culture doesn't necessarily mean your movie is good. So what's the verdict on THE BODYGUARD? After the horrific assassination of a Democratic state legislator in Minnesota, President Trump at first correctly stressed that such violence is absolutely intolerable. But then he uncorked a long, vile, unhinged tirade on Truth Social, threatening to unleash ICE raids more directly on Democratic cities while denouncing them as radical, dangerous and “sick.” Coming after the assassination, this was almost akin to a call for more targeting of Democrats and liberals. It's no accident this came right after we saw enormous outpourings of peaceful “No Kings” protests across the country. The contrast between these and Trump's North Korean-style military parade (not to mention the assassination) amounted to a fiasco for Trump. As Kim Scheppele, a scholar of authoritarianism, noted in a good piece for The Contrarian, a big story about this weekend's events was the spectacle of peaceful dissent meeting menace from Trump-aligned forces. We talked to Scheppele about how political violence is overwhelmingly aligned in this country with the MAGA right, and why we're now sliding into what she calls the “danger zone.” Looking for More from the DSR Network?
