As a bestselling author of One Word and eight other impactful books, Dan shares how a single word can anchor your year, refine your focus, and spark profound life changes. Key Takeaways: Discover how choosing one word can simplify your focus, making it easier to create impactful, lasting change in your life. Life naturally drifts toward complexity. By intentionally driving toward simplicity, you align your decisions with your purpose. True transformation happens when you focus on changing your character instead of trying to control external circumstances. Dan Britton joins The GenZ Show to share the benefits of encouraging youth to develop One Word for the year (based on his book with co-author Jimmy Page, link below) and to have a LIFE Word. As Dan describes it, Life Word is the title of your life's book, and One Word is the chapters of your story. This powerful tool can help focus and provide purpose to youth as they grow. Dan Britton's goal as a public speaker, author, coach, and trainer is to encourage others to follow their hearts. He has been working for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) since 1990, and his current position is Chief Field Officer. Each year John Torrey and John Weaver pick a word for the New Year that will inspire us to be our best. We started this practice three years ago. As most of you may know Jon Gordon wrote One Word with Dan Britton and Jimmy Page to help people discover their word for the year. Dan and Jimmy invented the "One Word" practice and have been doing it with their families for over twenty years. Our words over the years have been: FINISH, INTENTIONAL and, PERSEVERE Each word has molded and shaped us to become better people, fathers, husbands, leaders and communicators. Looking back we might say that our One Word chose us more often than we chose it. It's also a fun team building exercise and much more effective than New Year's resolutions. 9 out of 10 people will fail with their resolutions but One Word sticks. No goals. No resolutions. Just One Word that helps you write and create a yearly chapter in your life story. It's powerful. This is episode 97 of the C-10 Podcast, and with December 31st in our sights, this is the last episode of 2022. What's the significance of those two things? Well, they're both tied to this week's guest. First off, this week's guest, Dan Britton, happens to be the same person who joined us for episode 94 about a month ago. The second part of that — and the reason he's joining us so soon after his previous chat — is because of a book that he co-authored a few years ago called “One Word.” Are you a New Year's Resolutions kind of guy or gal? Instead of setting a resolution, which statistically speaking won't be successful, how about focusing on one word that can change not only your year, but your trajectory for the next several years. Dan will share a three-step gameplan to finding your word and then sticking to it. "One Word" is one of about 20 books that Dan has authored or co-authored. By day, Dan serves as the Chief Field Officer with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has been on staff since 1990, serving first as field staff in Northern Virginia for 13 years before moving to Kansas City to join the executive leadership team. As Chief Field Officer, he travels extensively around the world to work with thousands of leaders in more than 100 countries who are passionate about and called to sports ministry. Gentleman, if you had to pick your One Word for the year, what would it be? For those that aren't aware, the One Word concept is from a book titled, One Word That Will Change Your Life by Jon Gordon, Dan Britton, and Jimmy Page. The idea is to pick a word for the year, write it down (or, even better, create a painting with it), and then simply pay attention to how the word shows up in your life throughout the year. The whole idea for this episode came about from the time I spent with my great friend and longtime brother of the FRD community, Seth Dailey. As an annual tradition, Seth and his family get together around the holidays, and they decide what their One Word will be for the year. I was very grateful that they invited my family to their beautiful home and allowed us to join them for this exercise. It was such a powerful experience, and I absolutely loved it. Seth is a husband, father of 4 amazing daughters, who are some of the most inspiring humans I've ever met. He's the Co-Founder and the Operating Principal of the brokerage Keller Williams Gateway, and the team leader for the real estate company The Dailey Group, which he also co-founded with his wife, Alyce. In our conversation, Seth talks about how this exercise helps him find habits and rituals for his family and guides us to bring out the best in each other. We're talking about how to listen to our family's rally cry, how to give your kids a community they can thrive in, and how to reassess being vulnerable so that we can grow as a family unit, all with the power of one word. P.S. If you enjoyed this episode, shoot us a review and mention this episode, take a screenshot, send it to our team at info@frontrowdads.com, and I will mail you a copy of One Word That Will Change Your Life on the house as a thank you for all your amazing support! Seth Dailey Podcast Highlights Part 1 Finding habits and rituals for your family Let your kids fully express and become who they are. Why is it so important to have a tribe? What can a visual representation mean for your word? How you can champion your kids' efforts and practice watching your kids create. The impact of creating and holding space. Why should you have grace for how you hold this concept? Look at the different categories of your life and the words within those areas. Does the energy of your word matter? Memorable Quotes: “And I remember just having to say no to a lot of things, getting rid of a lot of things that were probably pretty good things. But they weren't helping me make progress towards the most important things. So it began that journey of, as you say, simple changes that made a big shift or, in this case, a big difference in our lives.” “And that's part of the beauty of “One Word” is God will do things in your life. If you're open to it, you'll see things happen. You'll be like, man, I did not see that coming when I picked this word, and that's a beautiful part of it.” “We all have barnacles on us from life, whether it's what we're eating, who we're around, the thoughts we're having.” “Now some days are better than others. But when we count each day and there's no wasted days, we develop a heart of wisdom.” What You'll Learn: How to implement the concept of choosing one word to permeate your year and give you purpose and direction. This Episode Includes: The origin story of the One Word concept was born out of one challenging conversation with a friend. The first word Dan chose as his “One Word” in 2000 was “intimacy.” Jimmy learned about the “One Word” concept from Dan during an accountability group session and it immediately clicked. Jimmy realized he needed to let go of the noise and focus. Jimmy and Dan share a few words their children have chosen in the past like “overflow” and “due.” The duo shares how both of their families choose a word each year and make a painting of it on a canvas. Robin shares her word from 2021, which was surrender, and her new word for 2022. Dan and Jimmy coach Dr. Robin through the word she chose, “trust,” and how to implement it in her life. Dan and Jimmy talk about the six dimensions: physical, mental, spiritual, relational, emotional, and financial. They relate it to Dr. Robin's four quadrants of wellbeing: mechanical, chemical, energetic, psychospiritual. It's important to remember your “One Word” throughout the year so it truly saturates your entire year, not just January 1st. Dan shares that his word for 2022 is “rattle.” Jimmy is still praying about his word. Dan and Jimmy give several takeaways about choosing your “One Word” and how to implement it in your life. Three Takeaways From Today's Episode: Don't put too much pressure on choosing your “One Word” for 2022. Go through the process. Go through the three steps of looking in, looking up, and looking out to choose your word. Decide how you will ruminate on your word this year. Maybe it's painting the word on a canvas and hanging it in your bedroom or maybe it's buying a plaque with the word on it for your office. Whatever you choose, find a way to focus on your word throughout the year. A new year is here and that means a new word! My word of the year for 2021 showed up in a BIG way!!! It's what this podcast is all about! Every area of my life bloomed and I am so grateful to be on this bloom journey and be able to share it with you. With a new year comes big goals and resolutions. Oftentimes, in the process of trying to get better, we forget who we're trying to become. As you're thinking about your New Year's resolutions, think about who you want to become in the process more so than the tasks it will take to get you there. One of the sweetest people I know, Kirby Green encouraged me to read the book One Word That Will Change Your Life, by Jon Gordon, Dan Britton and Jimmy Page. In the book, it talks about three practices that will help you discover your "one word" for the year: Look InwardLook UpLook Out to Live It As I was reflecting on what my word would be for 22', I knew I wanted to build on Bloom and continue down the path I was headed, but more. That's when DELIGHT found me. Delight to me, is about appreciating ALL moments - big and small, and being able to appreciate all of it. It's about soaking up the experience rather than checking it off my list. I want to take this entire year to feel delight and commit many moments to my long term memory bank. Choosing a word of the year and committing to living it out will reap lots of fruit this upcoming year. Are you ready to give it a try?I want to hear your word! Be sure to tag me at Live Your Life In Bloom so I can help you keep your word top of mind. Let's do this 2022!Keep BLOOMING my friend,XO - Bridget

Our culture prioritizes wealth and fame but undervalues the pursuit of wisdom. When we possess and apply wisdom to our lives, not only can we achieve so much more for God, others, and ourselves, but we also yield greater impact with our accomplishments, goals, and lessons. Co-author of the book, The Wisdom Challenge, Dan Britton joins Mornings with Eric and Brigitte on Monday to share how wisdom is gained through relationships--first with God and then with others. Andi Wenck is a former collegiate goalkeeper for the Maryland Women's Soccer team. She is currently an experience design student at the Brand Center in VCU. Andi shares her experience as a back up goalkeeper who landed at Maryland as a transfer her sophomore year. Her experience growing up on a farm gave her a great start at learning responsibility and follow through. Then as a college goalkeeper, she knew she might never see the field, but tells us why she felt it was important to always give 100% and how she found other ways to contribute to the team off the field. Andi talks about how FCA helped give her a safe place to go and feel refreshed and encouraged and how creating a team Bible study created camaraderie within the team. She also talks about her YouTube project called "Beyond the Bench" where she vlogged behind the scenes with the Maryland Women's Soccer Team. You can find those episodes here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMGED82hYoE Finding and embracing her role gave Andi a sense of purpose and made all the little things that had seemed so difficult before, not so hard. There is so much power in our words. So Much Power!!! The words we tell ourselves, the words we say to others, and the labels we put on things. "If you want your life to change, to be more rewarding and exciting than ever, you can do it with just one word." - One Word Last week I spoke about my Power Promise and how the word Power alone made a massive impact for me to change the trajectory of mine and my family's life. In this week's episode, I will discuss how focusing on a single word for the year can make massive impact on your life! Books referenced: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. One Word That Will Change Your Life Book by Jon Gordon, Dan Britton, & Jimmy Page. Listen in as I let you in on some tools that have helped me make amazing changes in life and give me focus and direction for this new year. Plus I outline 3 steps to picking your word for 2020! I encourage you to follow these steps, to chose a word. And tag me @laidbackrealtor! And, be sure to let me know what your word is for 2020...I'm soooo curious!
It's that time of the year when everyone wants to figure out how to become their most fabulous selves. The amazing job, the perfect relationship, the beach body and the bulging bank account all feel within reach as the wave of New Year magic blows over us.So we set New Year resolutions of how we're going to transform into the best version of ourselves we've ever been. Well, this is what usually happens. Until recently.More of us have started ditching the traditional resolutions - give up this, give up that - in favour of a different way of starting off the New Year. One way of setting a different type of resolution is to decide to add new and positive habits, rather than focusing on what we need to deny ourselves to improve.Another way, which is gaining in popularity is to set intentions of how you want to BE this year, rather than the things you need to DO. The movement around setting your intentions as One Word, which you can find in the book One Word That Will Change Your Life by Dan Britton, Jimmy Page, and Jon Gordon has inspired a whole generation to think differently about setting goals. We share our one-word intentions and also talk about vision boards. But not just creating vision boards. How do you then go about achieving what is on the vision boards? We talk about how we like to organise ourselves and the tips, tools and techniques we use to take action.
Dan Britton explains to Amy just how much can be said with Just One Word.
As written on Jon Gordon’s website: In 1999, the authors (Jon Gordon, Jimmy Page, and Dan Britton) discovered a better way to become their best and live a life of impact. Instead of creating endless goals and resolutions, they found one word that would be their driving force for the year. No goals. No wish lists. Just one word. Best of all… anyone, anytime can discover their word for the year. Join our host, Kayla Durkin, as she outlines her "One Word" for each of the last four school years, her word for the 2019-2020 school year, and how she plans to live out her word and what she wants to accomplish with it and how you can too!

It helps you become who you want to be. If you want a foolproof way to be better, to become the person you are meant to be… this is for you. The power of One Word is for you, your family, and your team. One Word’s power is found in its simplicity. How to find your One Word: Look in - Unplug from the busyness and distractions. Ask yourself: What do I need? What’s in my way? What’s got to go? Look up - Looking towards your creator for direction. Look out - Finding ways to live out your word. One Word is powerful alone but an even greater power is unleashed when you get a Stretch Team: A handful of people who can HELP YOU live your word. To encourage you, to bless young journey alongside you. One Word is Great for Teams Too - Individuals select their own word and then come together and select a team word that unites the team.
