Carl, Dan & Charlie D discuss the lack of radical action from the Trump team, the attempts to keep the ‘Woke Right' narrative alive and the Solar mans revolt against the Den Mother.
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.public.newsPresident Donald Trump's cuts to USAID were cruel, said Democrats and the media. Indeed, they argue, the underlying cause of most of society's problems is lack of empathy. If only we were kinder and gentler with each other, they say, we would finally be able to end poverty, inequality, homelessness, war, and oppression generally. But societies have become vastly kinder and gentler over time. Levels of poverty have declined dramatically in part because we redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor. And racial and sexual minorities experience less oppression and greater freedom today than at any point in recorded history.Of course, more should still be done to enable all humans to flourish. For example, the United States is in the midst of a severe crisis of homelessness, untreated mental illness, and drug addiction. But those problems do not result from a lack of empathy or care. California, for example, has spent $24 billion on homelessness since 2019; it grew 40% in that time period. In fact, the increase in homelessness, addiction, and untreated mental illness is more the result of enabling and even subsidizing them than cracking down on them. That's because being arrested and being mandated rehab or psychiatric care is often the only way that addicts and mentally ill people are able to escape life on the streets.A similar story can be told about many other social problems. Psychologists, including Jonathan Haidt, have found that coddling children results in them being discouraged more easily when they encounter problems. Their challenges continue in schools when teachers allow children to pass classes despite not being able to read.In fact, argues author and publisher Jonathan Keeperman, who I interviewed recently for this podcast, there has been a “remarkable overcorrection of the last two generations toward social norms centering feminine needs and feminine methods for controlling, directing, and modeling behavior. Many from left, right, and center have made note of this shift. In 2010, Hanna Rosin announced ‘The End of Men.' Hillary Clinton made it a slogan of her 2016 campaign: ‘The future is female.' She was correct.”In a viral 2023 essay in First Things, “What is the Longhouse,” Keeperman used the metaphor of the indigenous Longhouse to describe female-dominated and overly feminized institutions.“The most important feature of the Longhouse, and why it makes such a resonant (and controversial) symbol of our current circumstances, is the ubiquitous rule of the Den Mother,” he writes. “As of 2022, women held 52 percent of professional-managerial roles in the U.S.… And because they are overrepresented in professions, such as human resource management (73 percent) and compliance officers (57 percent), that determine workplace behavioral norms, they have an outsized influence on professional culture, which itself has an outsized influence on American culture more generally.”The increase of women in our institutions is not the only reason for the rising power of feminine values in society. Other factors play a key role. One of them is likely the success of civilization itself in reducing violence and obviating the need for traditionally masculine norms. Another factor is the well-intended turn toward values of openness and inclusion after the horrors of the First and Second World Wars.
We ddi NOT predict well on this one, mostly because we thought it was going to be a bit more progressive. Like when Peter Brady decided to become a Sunflower Girl to make a point. But no, this was an all-girls troop of Sunny Scouts with an evil Den Mother with nothing better to do than reject the best damn muffins they could ever have at the Sunny Scouts ball.... Whatever, Tamara Mowry is a beacon of charm and light in this otherwise-meh production. And frankly she makes the whole thing worth watching. Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. Here's the thing — quitting shouldn't be a bad word. But why does it often feel like it is?At Placers, we champion values like results-driven performance and relentless hustle, epitomized by Winston Churchill's wartime call to “never, ever, ever give up.” This motto resonated so deeply with me that it found its way onto t-shirts for the high school soccer teams I coached. My journey through rebuilding Placers after the 2008 recession and the pandemic has taught me the essence of perseverance — I even carry a coin in my pocket inscribed with “the obstacle is the way,” a nod to Ryan Holiday's influential work. The never give up mentality was instilled in me from the beginning. When I was young I wanted more than anything to be a Cub Scout. From the day I joined I was all in, and my mom even became our Den Mother. I loved everything about the Cub Scouts, from the pinewood Derby, the meetings, and merit badges. I loved it all until one day — I just didn't anymore. One by one my friends dropped out and soon I realized they were what made the scouts so enjoyable in the first place. My parents encouraged me to honor my commitments and I stuck it out until the end of the year before informing them I wouldn't be returning.A little later in life, I worked tirelessly to make the senior baseball team at age 14 and was filled with pride when I learned I made the cut. Then, the day before the game, a star player — a 15-year-old who was bigger, stronger, and more skilled — suddenly joined the team. I felt intimidated, frustrated and I remember the distinct urge to quit washing over me. Again, my parents provided sound advice and urged me to contemplate whether stepping back was truly the right decision. In the end, I chose to stay the course and I'm glad I didn't let my ego win that day.As children we're taught that quitting means “giving up”. The heroes in our storybooks never give up. Giving up is “weak” and being weak must be avoided at all costs. But, as uncomfortable as it may feel, sometimes quitting is the best thing you can do for yourself.Other people's perceptions often get in the way of our desire for change. “What will my team think of me if I leave the company?”, “This partnership is no longer serving me, but I don't know how to have the conversations that need to be had”, “I don't have the bandwidth to give to this hobby anymore but I don't want to disappoint my friends”, etc. Do these questions sound familiar? As an entrepreneur I've faced numerous challenges that forced me to question my path both professional and personally. Over the years, I've narrowed down five questions that I use as a guide to determine if I would benefit more from persevering or allowing myself to embrace change.Take a moment to consider a crossroads in your life or a big decision that has been weighing down on you for a while. Now ask yourself these questions:1 — Sunk Costs: Are you continuing just because of the time and resources that you've already put in? Does the value of your past investment outweigh the current and future investment required to continue?2 — Effort and Outcomes: Have you done everything possible to succeed? Is there anything you could change up to see if it would drive different results?3 — Original Intentions: Why did you start this endeavor in the first place? Are you still reaping the intended benefits or have circumstances changed?4 — Opportunities Upon Quitting: What new possibilities could quitting open up? I'm not just talking business here. Could quitting a side project open up space for you to pursue something more aligned with your goals? Could it bring you more energy to funnel into your family or wellness journey?5 — Joy and Satisfaction: Does this path still bring you joy? If it doesn't — the answer will alw
After going on a rampage years ago, the evil Den Mother disappeared into the woods surrounding Camp Blood. But some say she is still watching, waiting for more children to punish. The Den Mother is old by Daria Koon. @scarystoriespod scarystoriespod.com

On this week's episode of THE FULLEST Podcast, we sit down with Licensed Acupuncturist, Board Certified Herbalist, Lead Health Practitioner, and Co-Owner of Den Mother, Elisa Angelone. Den Mother is a healing house and social space offering myriad services designed to help down-regulate the nervous system to help up-regulate health and healing. They focus on creating a welcoming wellness space that counterbalances the stress of modern-day lives — tucked away on Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach, this sanctuary is the ideal place to unwind from the city chaos. Elisa is an East Asian Medicine Practitioner specializing in Japanese acupuncture and neuromuscular testing. Understanding the connection between the natural world, our physicality, and our inner world is a huge part of Elisa's professional vocation — and as we learn in this episode, this has also played a significant role in the design and creation of Den Mother's wellness space.
Segment 1, May 6th, 2023 This segment is being brought to us by the Jesse Brown's Facebook page. Facebook Live- Dads get a lot of credit for helping their children love the outdoors. At Jesse Brown's Outdoors, a local Charlotte outdoor store, there are often tales from children about their dad or granddad, teaching them to hunt or fly fish, hike or camp. Many times mom's get left out. Bill Bartee, host of the Carolina Outdoors, tells a story of his mom. It's a story that she hates because he became lost at Kings Mountain National Military Park. The getting lost part wasn't the main part of the story. It was how his mother handled it. She walked to the Park Ranger office and waited. His mother was also his Den Mother in elementary school. This time in Scouting led to bigger things including his introduction to the local Charlotte outdoor store, Jesse Brown's. We hope you enjoy this segment. This is my longest solo episode TO DATE and it was absolutely necessary to cover everything Pussycat Dolls. Whether you were a diehard fan or someone who casually listened, this episode has something for you so PLEASE support it and share with a friend. In the episode I focus on Robin Antin, mastermind of the Dolls, and whether she's a protective Den Mother or viper hiding in the weeds. I discuss the entirety of the group's success and controversies, Robin's attempts to revive or recreate their fame, and Robin's public accusations and legal drama. Additionally, I take time to tell the stories of all five of the other members of the group, which I know you'll enjoy (since we never got to know them). It's easy for academia to become remote, unless you have a professor like Dr. Marcia Chatelain. She teaches history at Georgetown and spends a lot of her classroom minutes creating connections between way back then and right this minute and, as importantly, them and us. She is a Pulitzer Prize winner who isn't afraid to claim her place as a Den Mother. For those reasons and more that you'll hear, Marcia is one of our all-time favorite guests on Kelly Corrigan Wonders.

Candace Mayeron was kind of like a Den Mother to the Chippendales, even though she wasn't much older than them at the time. Here she is below in the middle of a gaggle of them. And here I am below, a young Debbie Nigro with dark hair, posing with a handful of ‘Chips' in comparison. We both have a Chippendales story. Mine is light and funny and happened in one night long ago. Candace Mayerons' story is way more interesting, way longer and sadly way more tragic. It involves the murder of her close friend and boss, Chippendales Producer & Choreographer Nick de Noia, sitting with Candace celebrating in probably the last photo of him alive. Candace Mayeron was the Associate Producer of the Chippendales show and basically the Den Mother to the Chippendale men up until 1987. I would never have known this information or anything at all about Candace had I not been sparked by reading that A&E was launching a limited series called "Secrets of The Chippendales Murders." I thought I'd heard something about that crazy story before, so I googled and sure enough "Curse Of The Chippendales" came up as Discovery+ docuseries. a stunt in LA in the 1980s. The show then became involved in a slew of scandals, including the 1987 assassination of Chippendales choreographer Nick de Noia and two other planned hits on a dancer and producer, all orchestrated by Chippendales Founder Steve Banerjee. Then I came across an article in which Candace told her Chippendales story originally to Elle Magazine then through Hollywood411 called, "Sex, Money, and Murder. My Life as The Chippendales Den Mother". I have to admit when Candace's photo came up and I saw she outnumbered me in ‘chips' I was impressed enough to track her down and invite her on my show to talk ‘girlfriend to girlfriend' about her experience which you'll hear here in tis podcast clip. For a lot of women who would never dare have that kind of scandalous fun before, Chippendales provided a revolutionary form of entertainment that Candace will surely tell you, was more about the women who attended the shows than the men who performed. The brief version of my Chippendales story? I was live on the air as a radio DJ, and had just mentioned Chippendales was opening in NYC, and as a joke I said anybody want to come with me? The phones started ringing off the hook! A few promotional ‘bus loads' of women later we arrived -and all of them bought me drinks of appreciation for my good thinking. This photo of me above with The Chippendales was taken before I LOST 35 women who I was responsible for bringing home with me. Completely psycho story for another time.

You're listening to the Westerly Sun's podcast, where we talk about news, the best local events, new job postings, obituaries, and more. First, a bit of Rhode Island trivia. Today's trivia is brought to you by Perennial. Perennial's new plant-based drink “Daily Gut & Brain” is a blend of easily digestible nutrients crafted for gut and brain health. A convenient mini-meal, Daily Gut & Brain” is available now at the CVS Pharmacy in Wakefield. Now for some trivia. Did you know that Rhode Island native, Brian P. Burke is an American-Canadian ice hockey executive and former analyst serving as president of hockey operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins? He has also served as the general manager of the Hartford Whalers, Vancouver Canucks, Anaheim Ducks (with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2007) and Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as president of hockey operations for the Calgary Flames. Burke was also the general manager for the United States national men's ice hockey team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Now, we turn our feature story…. If appointed to serve as interim town manager by the Town Council, Police Chief Shawn Lacey says he will use the time with a potential eye toward a permanent switch of jobs. The council, during a meeting scheduled for Monday, is expected to consider appointing Lacey to serve as interim town manager. The council is also expected to present a commendation to outgoing Town Manager J. Mark Rooney, who on Sept. 9 announced his intention to resign. The agenda for the meeting provides clarity that was missing following the council's previous meeting about how the it plans to handle Rooney's resignation. On Friday, both Lacey and Town Council President Sharon Ahern, said the potential interim period could serve as a trial period for both Lacey and the council and give all parties time to contemplate future steps. Ahern said: "I think it would be a two-way look for the council and for Chief Lacey. It may not, ultimately, be something he's interested in," "For now we would just like to stabilize and see how the chief slides into the position. I assume he will do very well, after all he has been in this situation before and no one knows the town better than he." Lacey, who was appointed chief by Rooney, has served brief stints as interim town manager when Rooney was out of town for conferences or when he had time off during his more than three-year tenure. Some of those stints occurred during major storms or when Lacey had to make executive decisions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lacey said: "I'm looking forward to the opportunity of interim manager. I'm honored that I'm being asked." In the interim role, Lacey would also continue as police chief. A 34-year veteran of the police department, Lacey said he is not yet certain he is ready to close the door on his career in law enforcement. Lacey said: "I have to weigh it out. ... Am I ready to or willing to turn in my police badge and make that giant leap of faith?" "The tenure of managers haven't always been the longest. I have to weigh that in. I enjoy the town, I grew up in town and I've worked for the police department for the last 34 years and I wish to remain gainfully employed," Stay up to date on this developing story at westerlysun.com There are a lot of businesses in our community that are hiring right now, so we're excited to tell you about some new job listings. Today's Job posting comes from Cargill in Westerly. They're looking for shipping and receiving associates. You'll be responsible for working in a fast paced environment packing meat products. 2004 Annual Report Advances: The biggest advance in our history was this year when we went from “Tampabay'sBest Kept Secret” to a Household Name in the local area. This was due largely to the great media exposure donated by six local Cox Radio Stations. Hillsborough County gave us big green directional signs in 5 locations to direct visitors to our door. For the first year ever, in our 12 year history, we were able to cover all of the sanctuaries expenses from its own income! Thank you everyone! Howard Baskin was able to find a reasonable CPA, Marsha Weiss, and an accountant who completed an audit for our finances for grant writing purposes. This enabled us to apply to the Combined Federal Campaign and to apply to the online version of The Better Business Bureau called Give.org. Christy Anderson launched our first E-zine that carries AdvoCat issues to 5000 subscribers and links to our electronic version of The Big Cat Times. Jamie finished a movie that was nearly five years in the making called “The Big Cat Picture“. This has been widely distributed and 2 minute clips on every species of wild cat has now been added to our website from the movie. We wrote a 20 year plan and began taking steps to reach our goal of eliminating the cause of so much suffering and abuse. Animal Care: We took in five new tigers and a lion, but had to turn away 114 big cats. We submitted our anesthesia machine parts to have one usable unit rebuilt. We built 5 new Cat-A-Tats with pools and dens and another multi-acre enclosure with dens and a pool. Built new dens for Esmerelda, Tobi, and Little Feather and cage enhancements for Sultan, Canyon, Genie, Maharajah, Bailey, Scratch, Baby Cakes and Hercules. Shere Khan and China Doll got a hurricane shelter and we repaired cages that were badly damaged from the four hurricanes in six weeks. The Enrichment team is growing stronger and more professional in their collaboration with others, such as Disney, to help write a comprehensive Enrichment Guide. Operant Conditioning has been led by Jennifer Ruszczyk with marvelous results. The cats are learning their cues and are much easier to handle for check ups. All of the volunteers have retaken their animal care classes this year and have re certified their credentials via testing. Dr. Liz Wynn, DVM has been donating time every week as a liaison to Dr. Stacie Wadsworth, DVM. We began using Truly Nolan for regular flea spraying and for rodent control with marvelous results. Staff and Volunteer Training: Attended the USDA's Big Cat Symposium. Jamie Veronica attended AZA's weeklong college course, Managing for Success. Jen, Howard and Carole attended and presented Operant Conditioning and Cage Building at The Association of Sanctuaries' annual conference in Stone Mountain, GA. Susan Mitchell attended Karen Pryor's Clicker Expo and spent some time with Gary Priest from the San Diego Zoo and quite a bit of time with his top trainer of cats. Susan also completed the Safe Capture course that some of our staff attended last year. Our volunteer program was overhauled to create an administrative branch for the first time in our history. We now have red through green level requirements on both the Keeper side and the Partner (admin) side and the proud recipients of those levels of accomplishment. We began our first Intern program with three interns. Cathy Mayeski has been screening applicants from around the world and by the year's end we have had 3 successful graduates from the program and two of them moved here to stay in the volunteer program. By the year's end we have 6 full time interns and by next year hope to have 12-15. They have come from Wales, Canada, Brazil, Spain, Peru and all across the U.S. The interns work all day, six days a week for three months in exchange for housing and the experience of a lifetime. They are a volunteer force unto themselves and now have their own Den Mother, Gale Ingham who keeps them busy and makes sure they get the most out of their time at Big Cat Rescue. Education: Hired Kathryn Quaas as our new Education Director and started offering regularly scheduled kid's tours every Saturday at 9 AM. Summer Camp 2004 was a big hit. We created, with the help of creator LaWanna Jones, and a grant from Ken and Terri Pereira, an interactive CD called The Truth About White Tigers and distributed 1000 free copies. With the help of PeTA we were able to distribute 1000 copies of their CD about veganism. Produced a new screen saver called 12 Tigers that has tiger photos and facts. Created an online game with the help of Point 2 Nature that children will be able to access online for free. It is a memory game of matching the cats with their fur and their sounds for fun fact rewards. Created hundreds of pages of online games, puzzles, calendars, free screen savers, quizzes, polls and colouring activities for children of all ages. These interactive games are part of our campaign to reach the schools and day care centers with activities to teach children about animals and to inspire awe and respect for their beauty and their rightful place in nature. Our Big Cat Expedition continues to be our most pervasive educational tool and Susan Mitchell has trained countless people in the Operant Conditioning program portion that we offer to illustrate the medical needs of the cats and how we meet them. Our tours continue to increase and this allows Denny Mitchell, Brian Czarnik, Bill Lewis and many other great tour guides to educate people about the plight of these animals in the wild and in captivity. The most frequent response that we still hear from guests is “I had no idea!”. Legislation: We reviewed the Captive Wild Animal Coalition‘s proposed sanctuary standards and wrote and submitted the sub section specific to felid care based upon a compilation of our own standards, those of ACE and Florida's Fish and Game. We assisted Animal Control's approach to the State of Florida in an effort to require owners of dangerous exotic animals to post on their property the dangers that exist and to allow the public to easily determine if their neighbors are harboring dangerous animals. We began promoting a page on our site called Support Legislation and AdvoCats. We partnered with Capitol Advantage to create the first and only online presence in the Animal Welfare industry that is promoted on MSN, Yahoo, AOL, Congress.gov, PBS, the LA Times and E-the-People. In just the first days of creation is already responsible for about 30 letters per day going out to legislators on important animal issues that are currently pending including: Stopping canned hunts, prohibiting steel jawed traps and asking USDA to quit issuing licenses to people who are circumventing the new 2004 law that prevents the sale of big cats as pets. We noted a drop in the number of big cats being abandoned. Every year the number of big cats in need of shelter was doubling and by 2003 we were turning away 312 exotic cats. After the passage of the Captive Wild Animal Safety Act in Dec. 2003 that prohibited the sale across state lines of big cats as pets that number dropped to 114 abandoned cats in 2004. We posted a composite of all state laws and enabled viewers to go directly to their state's online regulations. Our founder became a major donor to the only Political Action Committee fund for Animal Welfare issues called HumaneUSA. Fundraising and Marketing: We purchased a new Point of Sale system with cash register and inventory software. Implementing this software has enabled us to better track inventory, sales and trends. On May 19 our web site received 29,724 page requests to be our largest day ever. By the end of the year our site is currently averaging about 100,000 hits per day. Jamie and Howard attended Scott Moller's Fundraising Seminar in Tampa and Howard, Carole and Jen attended Scott Moller's Fundraising Seminar in Stone Mountain, GA. Scott Lope and Daniel Capiro have been working closely with players of the TampaBay Lightning to raise awareness. Thanks largely to the lion vs tiger ligers thousands of dollars in radio air time donated by six Cox Radio stations, our Fur Ball attracted 850 guests and we netted 50,000.00 as well as had a Roaring Good Time. Jamie created our first Holiday Card with a collage of the cats for our use and for sale in the gift shop. The Adoption Kits have been so successful that she has had to order them by the hundreds from a printer, rather than printing them one page at a time on her computer as she has done in the past. Our online giftshop sales soared from $7,914.00 in 2003 to $32,351.00 in 2004. We began monitoring news alerts at Google for exotic cat issues and proactively writing in to the media. We were in the press 63 times compared to 35 times in 2003. Our newsletter The Big Cat Times (formerly Cat Tales) is now in color and goes out quarterly to 23,000 supporters. Grounds Improvement: At our January zoning hearing, 96 people wrote letters of support and 47 attended the hearing and spoke in support of the fine work we are doing on a global level. At the second hearing more than 200 supporters came to stand before the Board of county Commissioners in favour of Big Cat Rescue's planned development. In the past we had to haul 30 bags of trash, twice a week to the end of the road. This year we managed to get our very own dumpster on site. We moved the golf cart shed, tore down the old green barn and re-routed the fencing to increase parking area. We repainted the cabins, food prep, painted the E-Center and repainted several of the cages. We installed new signs on the buildings so that they are consistently called by name in our documentation and training manuals and to avoid confusion. Sentry Signs enabled us to put new signs on most of the cats along the tour path that states their name, species, date of birth and how they were rescued. We began a fence improvement campaign called the Catter-Wall. Two marble lions were donated for our front gate and we may have someone willing to donate a new front entrance next year. Food Prep was tiled and had gutters installed all the way around. Kiss Cote was applied to the Leopard Cat-A-Tat as a rust preventative trial model in March. The roads were reinforced to prevent inaccessibility to certain areas in the rainy season. We started the process for adding a 4 bedroom, 3 bath dormatory for interns. We upgraded to broadband and now have a wireless Internet connection available for guests. Helping Others: We covered ad costs for The Association of Sanctuaries annual conference in March to insure that the people who need the training will know it is available. We also paid expenses for three of the speakers on Cage Building, Operant Conditioning and the No More Homeless Pets approach to companion animal abandonment. We shared the secret to our high search engine placement with TAOS and CWAPC and members of both organizations. We joined the Sanctuary Workers And Volunteers Association SWAVA and provided material for them to launch their campaign. We send out news alerts to everyone in our new Yahoo group and in the TAOS Yahoo group and include a Tip of the Day feature in which we share ideas that have worked for us. We gave permission to Florida's state government site, at their request, to use our photos to illustrate why we should protect the Florida Panther. Charities that we donated to this year: 100 passes to No More Homeless Pets Adopt-a-thon and gift certificate for a Big Cat Expedition, 50 passes and gift certificate for a Big Cat Expedition to Florida Voices for Animals, 50 passes to Clearwater High school's Project Graduation, 100 passes to Dress For Success, 300 passes to The National Humane Societies spay/neuter and adoption programs. Big Cat Expedition to Clearwater Chamber of Commerce's annual fundraiser. Donated a Big Cat Expedition and several Two for One Passes to Animal Coalition of Tampa for their Spay Day fundraiser. Big Cat Expedition for two and 200 passes to the Tampa Museum of Art. 1000 passes and a 1500. Expedition Package was donated to the Global Understanding's Carousel Ball. There were many, many more that we donated to this year that we did not keep stats on. We offered to let No More Homeless Pets – HC and Florida Voices for Animals utilize our legislative program in a manner that is branded for their constituents. Other: Carole Baskin represented The Association of Sanctuaries at the Captive Wild Animal Protection Coalition's conference in San Francisco and was made The Association of Sanctuaries liaison to The Captive Wild Animal Protection Coalition. She served as the interim President of the Association of Sanctuaries in 2004. 2004 was a grrreat year and we are looking forward to an even better 2005!!! The narrow mission of Big Cat Rescue is to provide the best permanent home we can for the limited number of abused, abandoned and retired big cats that the sanctuary can afford to take in. However, the sanctuary must turn away over 100 cats per year and the number is growing. The broader mission, therefore, is to reduce the number of cats that suffer the fate of abandonment and abuse by educating as many people as possible about the conditions that lead to the plight of these animals. We do this through our tours of the sanctuary, our school education programs, our 2100 page website that receives viewers from all over the world, by supporting species preservation efforts, and by providing a hands-on experience for interns from around the world. We hope, by setting an example and teaching about how animals should be treated, that this will carry over into how we humans treat each other as well, and in doing so make the world a better place for all living creatures. Our Officers and Board of Directors • CEO Chair of BOD and Founder Carole Baskin • President Jamie Veronica • Vice President & BOD Cathy Mayeski • Secty/ Treasurer Vernon C. Stairs • Director and Operations Manager Scott Lope • Director and Coordinator Brian Czarnik The current board of directors will serve until December 31, 2005. Between now and then, staggered terms of four years and five years each will be set by the existing Board of Directors to insure the uninterrupted good work of Big Cat Rescue. The financial audits for 2004 are posted here and include total income in the past fiscal year, expenses in the same program, fund raising and administrative categories as in the financial statements, and ending net assets. BIG SKY is a huge hit for ABC. The network has added more episodes to Season 1 after an initial 8 episode order. New episodes begin Tuesday, April 13th. This is the first time that Deede Pfeiffer has worked with her producer brother-in-law, David E. Kelley. Fans across the nation and abroad are tuning in every Tuesday night and in case they miss it, during the week on HULU to see what comes next on the Montana based series that features kidnappings, murders, a serial killer, human trafficking and just about everything you would never want to see in a beautiful mountain town but none the less love to see every week on television. Pfeiffer plays the role of Denise Brisbane, the office manager of a rural detective agency. Fans of the show know that amidst much chaos and confusion, Denise is the voice of reason who often defuses the hot headed detectives who react with plenty of passion and emotion. "Pfeiffer, who is Kelley's sister-in-law, will play Denise Brisbane, the brash office manager at P.I. firm Hoyt and Dewell who does her best to keep the peace amongst her colleagues while simultaneously exemplifying someone you wouldn't want to mess with. She's part psychologist, part Den Mother, and always the biggest presence in the room." -Nellie Andreeva, Deadline Where has Pfeiffer, the former Cybill and For Your Love star been for the last 10 years? She took time off to raise two sons as a single mother along with going back to school to earn a Masters Degree in Social Work from UCLA. The tv actress hopes to join her celebrity and shine a spotlight on chemical addiction, mental illness and homelessness. Pfeiffer herself has been very vocal about her own addiction and recovery to encourage others to find their own path to treatment and wellness.

Music columnist Peter Rowan introduces us to Den Mother, Sabarah Pilon.
Kangore is in deep trouble and I mean deep. He has left his friends back in town and joined forces with two separate mercenary groups only to be the last surviving member of each. He is now completely alone as he gets ever closer to his goal, destroying the Den Mother and her stranglehold on the region with the Black Decay. Meanwhile, the rest of the group has just destroyed corrupted versions of Kangore's 1st alliance and continue through the infected forest with limited spell slots and possibly a new ally. What is it like to live without a dad? How about without a dad AND a mom? Does a lack of parent's stunt or accelerate an artist's growth? How did they learn to tie their shoes? Orphan comedians, Amber Rollo and Chanel Ali, have a guest on each week to talk about it and laugh at some supremely dark stuff. Listen to their stories from the luxury of your parent's guest room, while lamenting how hard it is to not have a struggle. Remember, we are proud of you. In this episode Amber and Chanel talk with comedian and writer Cathy Humes about "missing what you miss". She was a pleasure to talk to and had amazing insights into how to deal with loss. Also, y'all should follow her on Twitter @CrappyFumes because her puns are delightful. Before that we chatted about Mama Mia!, Janet Jackson, International Friendship Day and Dunkin' Donuts. Our famous orphan this episode was The Queen of Pop, Den Mother and all around Bad Ass, Madonna.

Occasionally, a new person comes into your life. Some of those people become acquaintances, some friends, a one or two, good friends. Very rarely, one of those good friends is an Amanda Bartley, someone who is exceedingly generous and giving, selfless and kind. This week, Amanda sits in on the podcast with Nate and Joe, and Pillow Talk Land is better for it. Amanda is an OG Pillowtalkian, and from hence forth will be known as the Den Mother. Also in this jam packed, stuffed to the brim, fully loaded episode, Amanda brings her Medium Black Box. Joe likes his millet warm. Nate nerdgasms about Jacob Collier and just intonation and vocoders. Joe is the head of the Shadow Government, and so much more!If you want to hear some great uses of the vocoder, watch this, and this, and this. This is not technically vocoder, but it is beautiful and should be listened to on repeat.
I'm extremely honored to introduce today's guest of The Inside Line, Kathy Sessler. The first thing I want to say is that I feel like I was way off in our interview intro when I call her the "Den Mother" of the Santa Cruz Syndicate. While I meant that to be endearing, I realized, after our interview, that the term doesn't convey the complexity and responsibility that comes with being Syndicate team manager. My perceptions of what she does with arguably downhilling's most exciting team were completely changed after the interview. I hope the conversation we had gets you get stoked on Kathy's extremely deep history with bikes and racing, as well as with what she does for our sport today. Enjoy the show! -gordo
