BIG Life Devotional | Daily Devotional for Women

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 28, 2026 21:09

When Jesus tells a story, you listen. When Jesus repeats 3 stories with the same meaning, you REALLY listen. Every story he told during his time here on Earth was of important purpose, but to repeat the same lesson 3 times in 3 ways tells us Jesus desperately wants us to get this message. Today’s parable is part of that trilogy teaching. The Lost Sheep, The Lost Coin and the Lost Son. The teaching of the Lost Sheep was recorded by both Matthew and Luke, so we already looked at that teaching earlier in our series. But now as we look at the accounts of Luke, we see the remaining 2 stories taught back to back by Jesus to the same crowd of people. Who were these people in the crowd, and why would they so desperately need to understand this message? This was a mixed crowd of religious leaders, along with as Luke puts it, “tax collectors and other notorious sinners”. These were people who didn’t mix. Religious leaders of this day made very clear distinctions between who was considered acceptable and who was not—who was “clean” and who was “unclean.” And the people Jesus was attracting—the tax collectors and notorious sinners—were the very people the religious crowd believed should be kept at a distance. They didn’t mix. But as Jesus taught this trilogy of stories about the lost, the sinners came crowding in. The people who had been pushed to the edges were now pressing into the center—right there at the feet of Jesus. Why were the unclean and the sinners coming in? Because for the first time, they were being told they belonged, they mattered, and there was a path for them to be made clean. Up until then, as part of the unclean, they had been pushed to the edges. They were the people you avoided, the people you didn’t touch, the people you didn’t invite to your table. They couldn’t simply blend in with everyone else. Their reputation went ahead of them. Their past followed them. Their failures had become their identity. Imagine that for a moment. Or maybe you don’t have to imagine too hard because this is a story you continually tell yourself now. You don’t belong. You’re unworthy. No body wants you. You’ve felt like part of the “unclean”. For these people being constantly told that they’re not good enough, not acceptable, not clean, eventually they started believing it themselves. Maybe they had assumed God was only for the clean people. The religious people. And then Jesus came. And Jesus changed everything. Jesus didn’t stand on the other side of the crowd pointing at them. He moved toward them. He welcomed them. He ate with them. He touched the untouchable. He talked to the unacceptable. He gave dignity to people who had been reduced to their sin. And suddenly, these people who had been told, “You don’t belong here,” were crowding around Jesus because Jesus was telling them something completely different: You matter. You are wanted. You are worth finding. You are not too far gone. That is the setting for these three stories. And that is why Jesus tells them three times, in three different ways: God goes after what is lost. He tells the story of a shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find one lost sheep. Then a woman who turns her house upside down to find one lost coin. And finally, a father who watches the road, waiting for his lost son to come home. Three stories. One message. God is not standing far away waiting for the lost to find their way back to Him. God is actively pursuing them. And Jesus wants these religious leaders—and every outcast listening at His feet—to understand something that would have been almost scandalous to them: The lost are not an inconvenience to God. They are His pursuit. The very people everyone else had pushed away were the people Jesus was drawing near to. What was literally happening in this moment was James 4:8, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” The unclean were drawing in close for the first time believing maybe this man Jesus was sharing the Good News with them, and as they came in close, God came in close to them. A message worth repeating 3 times! So today, we look specifically at “The Parable of The Lost Coin”. The short little story tucked in between the other 2 more popular stories of something that had been lost. Luke 15: 8-10 “Suppose a woman has 10 sliver coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lot coin.’ In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.'” And here in the crowd were the sinners who were told they were unclean and unworthy of anything from God. They were written off and excluded. Now, Jesus is telling them, YOU ARE LIKE A LOST COIN THAT IS WORTHY OF BEING SEARCHED FOR! What does a coin have to do to be found? Absolutely nothing! The coin doesn’t crawl its way out of the corner. The coin doesn’t shine itself up to be found. No, the owner comes looking and will not quit until it is found! Notice what the woman does when she loses the coin – She specifically lights a lamp and sweeps the entire house in a careful search. This is precisely what God does when he comes looking for one of his lost children. One who has gotten lost in the darkness, swept to the side, fallen in the cracks and been left alone. First, HE SHINES THE LIGHT. What is this light? John 1:4-5, “In HIM was life, and that life was the LIGHT of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” But, the light doesn’t stop with God. Through Jesus, we become his light bearers. Matthew 5:14, Jesus says, “YOU are the light of the world.” Girls, this means for those of us with the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, we carry the light that God uses to search for his lost coins. WE ARE PART OF THE SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM FOR LOST SOULS!!!!!! Are they unclean? Are they not to be touched? Are they to be avoided? NOT ACCORDING TO JESUS!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE TO BE SEARCHED FOR! Jesus says with this light, the woman sweeps the entire house in careful search. GOD IS WILLING TO GO ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE LOOKING FOR A LOST SOUL. He will move the furniture. He will lift the rug. He’ll turn the sofa upside down. He’s not quitting the search for what is his. Here in the crowd, lost souls are hearing Jesus say that he will not stop caring about them. And here today, those within the sound of my voice are hearing Jesus still saying the same thing – HE WILL NOT STOP CARING ABOUT YOU. No matter where you’ve been hiding – no matter what darkness you’ve been stuck in – no matter how dirty you’ve become – HE WANTS YOU BACK!!!!!!!! You are his daughter. You belong to him. Nothing changes that. Just because the coin was lost didn’t mean the woman no longer claimed it. No, she said, “MY COIN”. It was hers when she held it, hers when it was lost, and hers when she found it. “I have found MY lost coin.” You’ve always been God’s girl. That’s not changing. Let yourself be found! Do you know what will happen when he finds you? A FULL BLOWN CELEBRATION!!!!!!!!! Literally Jesus says “There is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.” The angels are throwing a party over every soul who is pulled up out of the darkness. Over every soul who is picked up and dusted off. Over every soul who is restored to the place where they belong. THERE IS JOY WHEN THE LOST IS FOUND! Not disappointment. Not condemnation. Not, “Well, look who finally came crawling back.” JOY! Jesus is painting a picture for these sinners sitting at His feet—and for the religious leaders standing there judging them—that would have been impossible to miss. THIS is how God feels about sinners coming home. And I think sometimes we forget that. We know how to feel guilty. We know how to beat ourselves up. We know how to replay our failures and remind ourselves of every place we’ve fallen short. We know how to tell ourselves that we should have known better, done better, been better. But Jesus tells a different story. He tells us that when we are lost, God searches. When we are in the darkness, God brings the light. When we are buried under the mess of our own making, God starts moving things around to find us. And when He finds us, He celebrates. Girl, let that sink in. God isn’t looking for a reason to reject you. He’s looking for you. You may have wandered. You may have messed up. You may have made choices you wish you could undo. You may feel like you’ve fallen so far into the cracks that nobody could possibly find you. But you are not forgotten. You are not disqualified. You are not too dirty. You are not too far gone. You are still His. The coin didn’t become worthless because it was lost. Its location changed. Its condition may have gotten dirty. It may have been sitting in a dark corner where nobody could see it. But its value never changed. And neither has yours. Let Jesus find you exactly where you are. Because He already knows where you are. He’s already looking. He’s already searching. And when He finds you, He’s not going to pick you up and say, “What a mess you are.” He’s going to say, “There you are. I’ve been looking for you.” And heaven will rejoice. If you’ve believed the lie that you’re unworthy, let Jesus tell you the truth. You are His. You have always mattered. You have never been too far away for His light to reach. And you are worth finding. Because that’s the message Jesus repeated three times so we would never forget it: The lost matter to God. The lost are worth pursuing. And when the lost are found, HEAVEN REJOICES. So, Sis, let yourself be found. Richard Ellis Talks

Jesus left His disciples with the command to spread the Gospel and make disciples of all nations, ultimately reaching everyone in the world with the Good News. This command is passed to us and seems impossible, but with God backing us up it is not impossible. We just have to focus on Him and obey what He calls us to do and He will fulfill His plans through us.

Welcome to Day 2934 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom. Day 2934– “The Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness” – Luke 11:14-28 Putnam Church Message – 08/16/2026 The Good News According to Luke: “The Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness.”   Last week, our message was “Lord, Teach Us To Pray,” and we learned Prayer is where our hearts are trained to live with God. Today, we continue with our thirtieth-fourth message from Luke's narrative of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Today's message is: “The Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness.” Our core passage today is Luke 11:14-28, starting on page 1614 of your pew Bibles. Jesus and Beelzebul 14 Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed. 15 But some of them said, “By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.” 16 Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven. 17 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: “Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. 18 If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul. 19 Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 20 But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 21 “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. 22 But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder. 23 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. 24 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.' 25 When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. 26 Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” 27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” 28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Opening Prayer Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth, You alone are worthy of worship. You rule over everything seen and unseen. No spiritual power rivals You; no throne challenges Your sovereignty; no darkness can extinguish Your light. Lord Jesus, open our eyes today to the larger story of Your Kingdom. Help us understand the spiritual battle without becoming fascinated with darkness or fearful of the enemy. Holy Spirit, fill us with truth. Protect us from deception. Teach us to hear the Word of God and obey it. May Your Kingdom come more fully in us, through us, and around us. In the victorious name of Jesus Christ, amen. Introduction: There Is More Going On Than We Can See Most of what people in our culture know about Satan, demons, and angels probably comes from movies, novels, television programs, and video games. And popular culture usually makes one of two mistakes. / Either the supernatural becomes fantasy — something primitive people once believed before science enlightened us. / Or the supernatural becomes entertainment — angels, demons, ghosts, and evil spirits made frightening enough to sell movie tickets. The Bible gives us neither picture. / Scripture presents an unseen spiritual realm as every bit as real as the world we can see. / But we need to say something immediately. Satan is not God's opposite. There is no eternal yin and yang. / There are not two equally powerful kingdoms battling to see which one survives. / God has no equal. / Everything else — visible or invisible — is created. / That includes angels. / That includes the heavenly host. That includes Satan. / That includes every rebellious spiritual power. And this is where one of my Biblical mentors, the late Dr. Michael Heiser, called the Divine Council worldview helps us recover something the ancient biblical writers simply assumed their readers understood. The Old Testament describes God presiding over a heavenly assembly. / Psalm 82 pictures God standing in the divine council. / Psalm 89 speaks of the assembly of heavenly beings. Job opens with the “sons of God” presenting themselves before the Lord. / First Kings 22 gives us a glimpse of the heavenly host surrounding God's throne. / But these beings are never equal to God/Yahweh. Think of a king and his royal court. The existence of a court does not diminish the king. The biblical God is Creator. / Everything else was created. / He possesses authority inherently. / They possess only whatever authority He delegates. / He alone is worthy of worship. But some of those spiritual beings rebelled.  / And when we follow that thread through Scripture, suddenly Luke 11 becomes much larger than one demon being cast out of one mute man. We discover that Jesus has walked onto the battlefield of a war that stretches back to Eden. And the King has come to reclaim what was lost. The Larger Story: Three Rebellions and One Divine Rescue Mission Before we enter Luke 11, let me give you the broad biblical picture. / We do not need to become Bible scholars this morning. Just remember three moments. Eden: / Genesis 3 records humanity's rebellion. / The supernatural rebel (referred to as a serpent or “shining one”) deceives Eve and challenges God's goodness. Humanity joins the rebellion. / Death enters human experience. / Humankind becomes alienated from God. The Days Before the Flood: / Genesis 6 describes another supernatural transgression involving the “sons of God,” cohabiting with the “daughters of the earth,” which produced the Nephilim, followed by extraordinary corruption and violence. / Whatever questions remain about every detail; Scripture is showing us that human rebellion and supernatural rebellion become intertwined. Babel: / Then comes Genesis 11. Humanity gathers in defiance of God's command to spread throughout the earth. God scatters the nations. / Deuteronomy 32 looks back on that event and describes the Most High dividing humanity according to members of the heavenly court, while Israel becomes the Lord's own portion. In other words, the nations rebelled against God, and God gave them over. / But those spiritual rulers themselves became corrupt. / Psalm 82 pictures God judging them because they ruled unjustly. / And listen to the final prayer of Psalm 82: “Rise up, O God, and judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you.” There is the hope. / God intends to reclaim the nations. / Immediately after Babel, Genesis 12 introduces Abraham. / God tells Abraham that through his family all the families of the earth will be blessed. God is launching a rescue mission. / Israel would become the nation through which the Messiah would come. / And through the Messiah, the nations would be reclaimed. Now remember what has happened recently in Luke. /...

“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11 NLT) You’ve probably heard the old saying that a Bible that’s falling apart is usually the sign of a life that isn’t. I must admit that I like to see beat-up, marked-up Bibles that are coming apart, because it tells me that they’ve seen heavy use. Their pages are well-worn. Favorite passages can be located immediately because of familiar breaks in the spine. Every scribbled note, every underlined passage tells a story. I’ve often said that there should be a Bible produced especially for preachers. In fact, I’ve mentioned the idea to people who actually publish Bibles. I told them, “Make a preacher’s Bible. Give it a steel binding.” After all, preachers really use their Bibles. As we’re speaking, we do things like shake it, hold it up, and point to it. Why we do that, I don’t really know. Of course, as believers, we shouldn’t simply shake our Bibles or hold them up or point to them. We need to read God’s Word. We need to memorize it. We need to follow the example of the psalmist who said, “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11 NLT). A purse or a briefcase may serve as a handy carrier for God’s Word, but our heart is an even better one. Jesus kept God’s Word in His heart. When the devil tempted Him in the wilderness, Jesus quoted Scripture to counter him. Three times the devil did his worst. And three times he was rebuffed by the Word of God. Matthew 4:11 says simply, “Then the devil went away” (NLT). He was no match for God’s Word. Scripture can serve a similar purpose in our lives. We have no way of knowing when and how the devil is going to tempt us. But we do know that God’s Word will thwart his plans. So, it’s important that we carry it with us wherever we go. That way, we can deploy it when we need to. Hiding God’s Word in our hearts also helps us fulfill the Great Commission. The apostle Paul wrote of unbelievers, “But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!’” (Romans 10:14–15 NLT). The more quickly and effectively we can access the Good News, the more powerful our witness will be. Being able to draw from what’s stored in our heart is a tremendous advantage. God’s Word is a powerful tool, and a powerful weapon against our enemy, whether we hold it in our hands or in our heart. Reflection question: What would hiding God’s Word in your heart look like in your life? We have heard the Good News, been brought into His family, and been identified as His own through the gift of the Holy Spirit. Our place in God's story isn't based on our importance, accomplishments, or ability to prove our worth. It begins with a God who set His love on us and chose to make us His own.In this sermon, you'll discover:How your life fits within God's greater plan through ChristWhat it means to be united with Christ and receive an inheritance from GodWhy God's plan has always included people we might be tempted to overlookHow the Holy Spirit identifies us as God's own and guarantees what He has promisedWhy understanding our place in His plan should ultimately lead our lives to bring Him praise and gloryWe can spend our lives wondering whether we matter, where we belong, or if God can really use us. Have you ever wondered what the story of the gospel is and what it means for you? In this message, Pastor Scott preached from Colossians 1:15-20, and he explained the gospel story in four movements: (1) Creation, (2) Fall, (3) Redemption, and (4) Restoration. We were also reminded that the gospel is not just the first step to get into the Christian life, but it is the Christian life! As Christians, we don't move on from the gospel, but continue to live in Christ's resurrection life and be ambassadors of Christ as we wait from Him to restore all things. Full Text of Readings Feast of Saint Bartholomew, Apostle Lectionary: 629 The Saint of the day is Saint Bartholomew Saint Bartholomew's Story In the New Testament, Saint Bartholomew is mentioned only in the lists of the apostles. Some scholars identify him with Nathanael, a man of Cana in Galilee who was summoned to Jesus by Philip. Jesus paid him a great compliment: “Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him” (John 1:47b). When Nathanael asked how Jesus knew him, Jesus said, “I saw you under the fig tree” (John 1:48b). Whatever amazing revelation this involved, it brought Nathanael to exclaim, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel” (John 1:49b). But Jesus countered with, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this” (John 1:50b). Nathanael did see greater things. He was one of those to whom Jesus appeared on the shore of the Sea of Tiberias after his resurrection (see John 21:1-14). They had been fishing all night without success. In the morning, they saw someone standing on the shore though no one knew it was Jesus. He told them to cast their net again, and they made so great a catch that they could not haul the net in. Then John cried out to Peter, “It is the Lord.” When they brought the boat to shore, they found a fire burning, with some fish laid on it and some bread. Jesus asked them to bring some of the fish they had caught, and invited them to come and eat their meal. John relates that although they knew it was Jesus, none of the apostles presumed to inquire who he was. This, John notes, was the third time Jesus appeared to the apostles. Reflection Saint Bartholomew or Nathanael? We are confronted again with the fact that we know almost nothing about most of the apostles. Yet the unknown ones were also foundation stones, the 12 pillars of the new Israel whose 12 tribes now encompass the whole earth. Their personalities were secondary—without thereby being demeaned—to their great office of bearing tradition from their firsthand experience, speaking in the name of Jesus, putting the Word Made Flesh into human words for the enlightenment of the world. Their holiness was not an introverted contemplation of their status before God. It was a gift that they had to share with others. The Good News was that all are called to the holiness of being Christ's members, by the gracious gift of God. The simple fact is that humanity is totally meaningless unless God is its total concern. Then humanity, made holy with God's own holiness, becomes the most precious creation of God.Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media

The mission is part of a modernization plan for the National Guard Base, according to the National Guard's website, which includes construction and infrastructure upgrades that will create jobs and new training opportunities. Trump shared details of the new fighter jet mission in April 2025 during a speech to National Guard members at the Michigan base for an event commemorating his 100th day in office. "Fresh off the line. That means they are brand new," Trump said at the time. "They've never been anywhere. This is where they're going to be for a long time. And I saw one of them, flew over my head, and I said, ‘What the hell is that?' That plane has serious power. So, this is the best there is anywhere in the world, the F-15EX Eagle II. This will keep Selfridge at the cutting edge of Northern American air power."   [X] SB – Fox News on MI and ME Senate races Republicans have an edge in MI. Expensive. It's Friday, August 21st, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian policed arrested 22-year-old for converting to Christianity Nigerian police arrested a 22-year-old woman for converting to Christianity from Islam, reports International Christian Concern. Though the Federal High Court ruled in her favor, the Christian family that helped her is facing false charges of kidnapping. In 2025, “Sarah” fled from her home in Kano State after her elder siblings tried forcing her into an arranged marriage with a Muslim. While she was on the run, a Christian family took her in and shared the Gospel with her. Through the Abaras family's witness, she gave her life to Jesus Christ.  When her siblings learned of her conversion, they began working with the local Hisbah, the Islamic police force, to track her down and arrest her.  Police discovered her and detained her for four days, during which they beat her and pressured her to return home and accept the Muslim-arranged marriage. When she was released, the Abaras family helped her escape to a neighboring state with less Muslim influence. Please pray for Sarah's safety and that her Christian faith would grow stronger. According to Open Doors, Nigeria, Africa is the seventh most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Ex-Fauci adviser pleads guilty to concealing COVID-19 origins On August 18th, Dr. Anthony Fauci's former senior adviser pleaded guilty to plotting to conceal federal records related to research on the origins of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, reports the Associated Press. Dr. David Morens is scheduled to be sentenced on November 12 by U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis in Greenbelt, Maryland. Morens pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the U.S. government, a felony punishable by a maximum prison sentence of five years. Morens is accused of using his private email account to intentionally circumvent public records laws while employed at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The Justice Department alleges that he concealed or destroyed records of discussions related to COVID-19 research grants, including an effort to revive a controversial coronavirus grant. The indictment follows a probe by House Republicans into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic that scrutinized Morens' email communications and accused him of intentionally concealing records. In congressional testimony, Morens denied attempting to evade federal transparency laws by using his personal email. Proverbs 12:22 says, “The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in people who are trustworthy.” Senator Darline Graham performed poorly in Senatorial run-off debate On August 19th, NewsMaxTV hosted the South Carolina GOP Senatorial run-off debate between Senator Darline Graham, who was appointed by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster in the wake of the death of her brother Lindsey Graham, and Congressman Ralph Norman. When Greta Van Susteren asked a foreign policy question, it was clear that Senator Darline was out of her depth. Listen. VAN SUSTEREN: “Senator [Graham], are Taiwan and the South China Sea national security issues for the United States? If so, why?” GRAHAM: “Um. I'm sorry. Could you repeat the question?” VAN SUSTEREN: “Are Taiwan and the South China Sea national security issues for the United States. And if so, why or how?” GRAHAM: “I'm just going to be honest here. I'm not on national security. I'm not that informed on national security. (audience boos and laughs) So, but I do support the military. My brother was in the Air Force for 33 years, so I will do everything I can to support the military. My dad was in the Army. “I'm not a polished politician up here. I'm … National security is not my thing, not my area of expertise. But I do support the military.” By contrast, Congressman Ralph Norman, her opponent in the South Carolina GOP Senatorial run-off, said this. NORMAN: “Taiwan's a definite ally. We have a trading relationship with them that is beneficial to the United States – [computer] chips being one of them, and others. “So, what the, what the president is doing right is he's enabling Taiwan to defend themselves against China. But it's peace through strength that he's showing with Iran that China, Russia, others are looking at it. They don't want to deal with America, and that's why they haven't attacked Taiwan. “If they had some weak Democrat in office, like Biden or another Obama, yeah, they'd take it over. But we can't let that happen. Peace through strength is working.” J.D. Vance believes Christian lifestyle suffices over verbal evangelism And finally, in a July 15th appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Vice President J.D. Vance, who converted to Catholicism from Protestantism, explained that he does not evangelize by word. VANCE: “You know, I don't preach to people. I don't, like, walk into the White House, tell my employees, ‘You know, you need to be, you need to follow Jesus as your Lord and Savior.' I just try to live my life in a way that hopefully makes people a little curious about what, you know, what motivates me and what inspires me.” Todd Friel, a reformed pastor in Atlanta, is the host of the Wretched Network which produces radio shows, TV shows, and books. He says the notion of wretched is at the very core of the Gospel because God saves wretches like us. Friel had this response to Vice President Vance. FRIEL:  “According to 1 Peter 3, that is true: We should live in such a way that it causes unbelievers, who are persecuting us, to ask about the reason for the hope that lies within us. That is most certainly true. “However, that is not the end of our responsibility. We are also called to make the most of every opportunity, to go and make disciples. It is our lifestyle that undergirds our confession, testimony, and evangelism. But a lifestyle is not evangelism itself.” Joe Rogan agreed with Vice President Vance. ROGAN: “I think living by example is probably the best promotion of any good way to live your life …” VANCE: “I agree.” ROGAN: “… whether it's Christianity or any other religion. I think that's definitely the way to do it.” Friel replied with this analysis. FRIEL: “It is a part of it. It does undergird our testimony, but how will they hear unless somebody preaches to them? In other words, evangelism requires words! Nobody can actually find a credible source of Saint Francis of Assisi, who said, ‘Share the Gospel, and if necessary, use words.' Well, it is necessary! Otherwise, you're just being a nice person.” Indeed, in Romans 10:14-15, the Apostle Paul asks, “How then will they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of Whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News!'” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, August 21st, in the year of our Lord 2026. Welcome to Episode 66, where the parking lot smells like raw sewage and somehow THAT is the least disgusting thing we discuss. The morning begins with Lern trying to figure out whether Hubbard Media has a sewage problem or whether she personally needs to reevaluate some life choices. Thankfully, the mystery quickly leads us to Florida, where somebody learns one of nature's most important rules the hard way: do not jump on a manatee. Especially when you haven't taken the time to determine whether said manatee is, you know… alive. What follows is Mother Nature delivering one of the fastest and grossest examples of karma we've ever encountered. And because this is a funny podcast run by adults who allegedly know better, the conversation immediately becomes a competition over the nastiest things anyone has ever gotten on themselves.Rizz remembers the beautiful bonding experience of having baby vomit deposited directly into his mouth. Moon recalls an athletic encounter with an impressive amount of dog poop. And then Rafe casually unlocks a repressed memory from his days working in surgery that probably should've stayed repressed. There's gangrene. There's a sterile operating room. There's vomiting. There's mint extract that arrives WAY too late. At one point, breakfast officially files for divorce. We also discover that the infamous “blue waffle” is an Internet hoax, which is terrific news for anyone who survived the early Internet and somehow never bothered to verify that until adulthood.Eventually, Rizz attempts to drag this funny podcast out of the biological danger zone by choosing joy. Unfortunately, he's Rizz, so even his daughter thanking him for making dinner turns into an existential crisis involving garlic, dementia, stuffed animals, retirement in Florida, and an imaginary future son-in-law handling his estate. Normal father-daughter stuff. Then we actually get GOOD NEWS. St. Charles runner Emma Kessler thought she'd be tackling a half marathon without her boyfriend Jason, who repeatedly insisted running wasn't his thing. Turns out Jason had secretly trained for months so he could surprise her and run alongside her. It's sweet. It's supportive. Nobody gets covered in anything. Naturally, Rizz's immediate concern is that this man is making every other partner look terrible. The crew also looks back at teenage summer jobs — camp counseling, landscaping, mall jobs, mowing lawns, hauling hay, food service and all the other character-building employment our parents lovingly forced upon us. With fewer teenagers working summer jobs than when the crew was growing up, we ask whether kids are missing an important rite of passage. Rafe's solution? Basically draft every 16-year-old into retail or food service. Honestly, one summer behind a register might improve society overnight.Episode 66 is funny podcast chaos in its purest form: weird news, gross stories, St. Louis conversation, parenting failures, questionable childhood employment and the kind of morning-show tangents that begin with sewage and somehow end in labor statistics. We're sorry about breakfast.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

There's gangrene. There's a sterile operating room. There's vomiting. There's mint extract that arrives WAY too late. At one point, breakfast officially files for divorce.Eventually, Rizz attempts to drag this funny podcast out of the biological danger zone by choosing joy. Naturally, Rizz's immediate concern is that this man is making every other partner look terrible.Apparently Gen X isn't going to enough concerts, so today we're solving the live music industry one folding chair and bottle of ibuprofen at a time.A concert promoter asking what it would take to get Gen X back out to shows. The answers? Bring back physical tickets. Give us cleaner bathrooms. Stop making everything cost approximately one kidney. Fine bands for showing up late. And while we're making demands, how about concerts that start at 3 p.m. and wrap by 6 so everybody can be home, showered and questioning their life choices before the evening news? The crew gets into the bigger problem facing live music right now, from third-party ticket sellers and ridiculous resale prices to mid-level artists trying to survive while fans blow their entire entertainment budget on one or two giant shows. Foo Fighters are stepping in to open for AC/DC in St. Louis, which leads to the very important question of how long the Foo Fighters actually get to play when they're technically the opener. There's also an update on Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell and his continued battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. The Jack White and Charley Crockett drama continues after Twin Temple was removed from dates on Crockett's tour. Jack White defended the band, Crockett fired back, White responded with a bizarre musical troll, and suddenly everybody is keeping track of who released more albums. Rafe likes Crockett's music but would also like everyone involved to calm down and simply make songs again. Then Demon Hunter enters the chat. The Christian metal band is suing over the KPop Demon Hunters name, arguing that the massive Netflix property and its live-event expansion could create confusion with their long-established band. King Scott once saw the band demon hunter perform KPOP.The Missouri State Fair has given us many things over the years, and today we can add freeze-dried pickles capable of removing every drop of moisture from the human body to the list. Then we return to one of the most important educational developments of our generation: Fart Corner. The teacher whose classroom fart corner went viral has responded to all the attention and clarified her intentions. Apparently, kids today have significantly less shame about letting one rip in class, so she created a designated location where students can handle their business and return to society. Fart Corner is now also The Gas Station. Then it's time for King Scott to host Matchup With Moon, and whatever intellectual credibility remained in the studio immediately leaves through the emergency exit.Rizz and Moon battle through trivia involving the longest-running television game show, Walter Mondale, the PGA Hall of Fame, malware and the Rice Krispies mascots before King Scott drops the Millard Fillmore tiebreaker.Round two somehow gets worse. The Downballot ran the numbers on 110 special elections since January 2025. Democrats are outrunning Kamala Harris's 2024 margins by 12.5 points on average and Joe Biden's 2020 numbers by 8.4. That implies a roughly 12 point environment in House and Senate races, slightly better than what the same measure showed heading into 2018, when Democrats gained 40 House seats. Brandon Dukes just flipped Pennsylvania's 12th, the 31st legislative flip of the cycle. Democrats have won every one. Ron Brownstein's piece for CNN gets at the other half. The risk to Republicans is subtraction rather than addition: low propensity Trump voters who turn out only when his name is on the ballot, and it will not be on one again. Meanwhile Democratic primary turnout is hitting numbers not seen in decades. Nearly 800,000 in Wisconsin, 1.5 million in Michigan, surges in Texas and Georgia. In Alaska's primary, Mary Peltola outpolled Dan Sullivan by four points. James Talarico's numbers in Texas are worth a look too. Matthew 21: 28-32 But what do you think about this? A man with two sons told the older boy, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ The son answered, ‘No, I won’t go,’ but later he changed his mind and went anyway. Then the father told the other son, ‘You go,’ and he said, ‘Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go. Which of the two obeyed his father? They replied, “The first.” Then Jesus explained his meaning: I tell you the truth, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do. For John the Baptist came and showed you the right way to live, but you didn’t believe him, while tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even when you saw this happening, you refused to believe him and repent of your sins. ———- So, Jesus tells this story and he asks us a question – “What do YOU think about this?” Really, what do you think about this? Are others who are doing far worse things than you ultimately better than you from a Heavenly perspective? In this culture, the fastest and surest way to refer to someone you would look down on is to associate them with two categories of people: Tax collectors or prositutes. Tax collectors were notoriously crooked and corrupt. They would steal from anyone for their own benefit. And prostitutes were considered the lowest of women, who made their living off other’s sins. So for Jesus to say both of these looked down on categories of people would get into the Kingdom of Heaven before them, it brought everyone who heard it down off their holy pedestal. Those listening thought they were righteous. Those listening thought they were better than others because they knew what to say and said it well. But Jesus essentially says, “It’s not what you say with your mouth – it’s what you refuse to do because of your twisted heart.” You say you will, but you don’t – Jesus is not impressed and he’s not pleased. Jesus is not saying sin doesn’t matter. He’s saying repentance matters more than reputation. The tax collectors and prostitutes Jesus is referring to had heard the Good News, they had believed it and they had changed. The religions people Jesus is talking to now had heard the same thing, watched it all happen, and refused to repent for themselves. The danger is when we don’t think we need a Savior. WE DESPERATELY NEED A SAVIOR. And when we know we need a savior, we surrender our lives and change our direction. The greatest barrier between you and Jesus may not be your sin. It may be your belief that you don’t have any. What you say you will do has no impact on God’s eternal work. Your words do absolutely nothing for you, for him, or for anyone else. It’s your changed heart that He is looking for. It’s your surrendered will that moves your feet even when your first response was to not go. Here’s the great news – God is more interested in your direction than your first reaction. The first son said no. He didn’t give the right answer. He didn’t sound spiritual. He didn’t politely say, “Absolutely, Dad!” He actually said, “No.” But then something happened. He changed his mind. (Girl, maybe you got it wrong at first, but God has given you time to change your mind!) Your first response doesn’t have to be your final response. You can say, “I’m scared. I don’t want to. I’m not ready. God, I don’t think I can.” AND GOD CAN STILL WORK WITH YOU!!!!! You don’t have to get the first response right. You just have to be willing to change your response. You know what that is? That’s grace. God isn’t looking for a perfect first response. He’s looking for a surrendered final response. I don’t know, maybe you’ve said no for 10 years. Maybe you’ve been running for a long time. Maybe you’ve resisted far more than you’ve surrendered. Maybe you’ve made some epically wrong choices. The Father is still standing in the vineyard saying, “Come work with me.” Jesus doesn’t praise the first son because he said no. He praises him because he eventually went. That’s repentance. Repentance isn’t simply: “I’m sorry I did that.” Repentance is: “I’m going somewhere different now.” You can cry and never change. You can apologize and never change. You can feel convicted and never change. You can know Scripture and never change. Repentance puts feet on conviction. Repentance is when your feet finally agree with what your heart has realized. Repentance is moving forward in obedience with what you’ve been delaying for so long. Did you know you can say “yes” to God with your mouth while saying “no” with your life. We can get all religious, and be radically wrong. The second son sounds perfect. “Yes, sir. I’ll go.” Beautiful answer. But then he doesn’t go. And Jesus is essentially saying: Don’t confuse agreement with obedience. We can become very good at Christian language. “I trust God. I surrender. God is good. I’m praying about it. I’m waiting on His timing.” But eventually, the vineyard requires you to go to work. There is a point where faith has to leave your mouth and enter your calendar. Enter your relationships. Enter your finances. Enter your habits. Enter your decisions. Enter your obedience. God isn’t impressed by the “yes” you say if your life keeps living “no.” Now, notice this about the story Jesus tells – These were both SONS of the Father. They weren’t hired workers. They were sons. They were close. And they were asked to work in the family business. The Father doesn’t say: “Go build your own vineyard.” He says: “Go work in MY vineyard.” That’s different. God has a work already happening. People need Jesus. Families need healing. The lonely need friendship. The hurting need someone to sit beside them. The lost need someone to point them home. The discouraged need encouragement. The next generation needs somebody willing to mentor them. And God says: “Come work with Me.” You aren’t trying to build God’s kingdom from scratch. You’re being invited into something God is already doing. Have you ever met someone who stepped into a successful family business? My son moved from Hawaii to Southern California last week. During his first morning on the beach, he ran into someone he knew from middle school. Our family lived in Carlsbad, California for exactly 1 year when the kids were growing up. For 1 year my son went surfing every day, my girls rode their bikes along the coast, and we thoroughly enjoyed the SoCal life. We couldn’t afford to stay, so we quickly moved away – but everyone remembers that one year with delight. So here my son is, back where he always wanted to be, now beginning a new life with his wife – and he runs into this old friend of his from middle school. He’s driving a $200,000 porche, still living on the beach, and working in the family business. His Dad started a technology institute and it grew wildly successful. So here’s this 27 year old young man who stepped right into riches. And then there’s my son. We have a pretty successful podcast that operates completely for FREE, refuses to sell advertisements, and intentionally dropped off all social media platforms. Here’s our family business which does NOT include a porche. Not all family businesses are the same. But have you ever stopped to realize that YOU have been invited into a family business that changed the entire world? A family business that saves lives. A family business that holds unseen treasure. A family business guaranteed to last forever, through the end of time?!!! There are family businesses where the inheritance looks like money. But our family business with the Father has an inheritance that can’t be measured in dollars. We get to participate in something eternal. How wild is that?!!!!!! And remember this – you’re not trying to earn your way into the family through your performance. YOU ALREADY BELONG TO THE FAMILY! The sons were already sons before the father sent them to work. We don’t work for God to become His children. We work with God because we are His children. We don’t work in the vineyard to earn the family name. We work in the vineyard because we carry the family name. You and I have been invited into a family business that cannot fail. Our Father is in the business of rescuing people. Healing people. Restoring people. Redeeming people. Bringing people home. And He doesn’t need us. He invites us. That’s the miracle. The God of the universe looks at you and says, ‘Come work with Me.’” Follow Pamela on Instagram – https://instagram.com/headmamapamela Or Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/pamela.crim Find out more about BIG Life – http://biglifehq.com
