The 2024 election and beyond has left the Democratic party in shambles. The ideas, the messaging, the people have become toxic. Well, today, my friend and co-host of The Morning Meeting, Dan Turrentine, is going to walk us through the Democratic party like no one else can. We are going to cover Biden, Harris and Walz, now that they have made appearances after the election. Does Kamala Harris or Tim Walz have a future in the Democratic party? When it comes to new leadership, new messaging and a new vision for Democrats, who is going to rise up? The DNC is rife with turmoil and Chairman Ken Martin is missing the mark on messaging. Who will be the frontrunner for president as we look forward to 2028? Do well known Governors like Gretchen Whitmer, JB Pritzker or Gavin Newsom stand a chance? Will AOC battle Chuck Schumer for a seat in the Senate? Or will a celebrity swoop in and take everyone's thunder? Dan Turrentine is going to break it all down for us as we look to 2026 midterms in the House and the Senate and the 2028 run for president. Even though Illinois Governor J-B Pritzker is being coy about his political future, there's a widening view he'll seek a third term even though he's also eying a 2028 bid for the White House.
Head-ON with Roxanne Kincaid – May 7, 2025 On this edition of Head-ON with Roxanne Kincaid, Roxanne delivers three fierce hours of truth-telling, political critique, and sharp-tongued humor from a proudly liberal, Appalachian transbilly perspective. Broadcasting live amid a personal health scare and ongoing fundraising efforts, she pulls no punches while skewering what she repeatedly calls the “Nitwit Nero,” “Orange Julius Geezer,” and MAGAT administration. Main topics include: Authoritarianism & Abuse of Power: Roxanne tears into the administration's deportation plans to countries like Libya and Rwanda, calling them a “slave trade” enabled by Pentagon funds and blatant human rights violations. She highlights federal judges pushing back against misuse of the Alien Enemies Act, particularly rulings from Judges Sweeney, Rodriguez, and Murphy. Religious Grift & Hypocrisy: With fire aimed at “Christian grifters” like Jim Bakker, Roxanne slams the prosperity gospel as a con. Bakker's demand for $1,000 donations, while his ministry faces foreclosure, exemplifies the cynical monetization of faith. Religious bigotry and antisemitism, especially targeting Jewish politicians like Gov. JB Pritzker, are called out directly. Sanctuary Cities & Counter-Trolling: The administration's war on sanctuary cities gets spotlighted during a visit by “Secretary HotMama” to Illinois, met with brilliant shade from Pritzker's team. The trolling press release earns Roxanne's praise for mocking cosplay law enforcement antics and dodgy constitutional respect. Attacks on LGBTQ+ Health: The MAGAT administration's cancellation of $800M+ in LGBTQ+ health research—including HIV prevention—is called a cruel erasure of queer communities from public health priorities. SNAP Restrictions in Louisiana: Gov. Jeff Landry's ban on buying candy or soda with food stamps, part of his “Make America Healthy Again” campaign, is framed as a thinly veiled assault on the poor, diabetics, and public dignity. World Cup Chaos Ahead: With mega-events looming, Roxanne calls out the US's crumbling infrastructure and visa backlogs, warning that MAGAT mismanagement could embarrass the nation on the world stage. Spying on Allies: A Wall Street Journal exposé alleging US intel is spying on Greenland and Denmark stirs outrage. Denmark's Foreign Minister calls it a betrayal; Roxanne sees it as more MAGAT overreach in pursuit of imperial fantasies. Media & Democratic Infighting: Roxanne roasts millionaire pundits and centrist Dems who bash Biden while ignoring MAGAT extremism. In her view, limousine liberals and profit-hungry networks are fueling division. Judicial Win in NC: There's a glimmer of hope as right-wing Judge Jefferson Griffin drops a bid to toss overseas ballots, clearing the way for Justice Allison Riggs' certified victory. Roxanne hails it as democracy fighting back. Additional highlights: Roxanne prepares for a CT scan in Durham and may launch a GoFundMe. The show faces a $968 fundraising gap and depends on listener support. A racist woman in Minnesota raises money on GiveSendGo—proof, Roxanne says, that hate still sells in MAGAT America. Pritzker signs an executive order protecting autism-related data. A 1972 Soviet satellite is falling back to Earth (location unknown). The Trump admin allegedly dismantled a key CDC infection control committee. Rumors swirl about MAGAT Surgeon General pick Casey Mean, a “wellness influencer.” Tone: Blunt, biting, and unfiltered, with moments of gallows humor and sharp satire. Roxanne blends grassroots outrage with deep concern for democracy, human rights, and community. Her message: resist the fascism, expose the grifters, support the truth.
JB Pritzker, the Democratic Governor of Illinois, gave an unabashedly progressive speech that MAGA and progressives should love. House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is raising alarms over Illinois's sanctuary state policies after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visited Springfield today. McCombie claims these policies embolden criminals, put families at risk, and squander taxpayer funds. She criticized Governor Pritzker for focusing on future election ambitions instead of public safety, accusing him of reckless disregard for federal government directives. McCombie argues this approach leaves Illinois families to deal with the consequences. Her comments were delivered both on the House floor and before Wednesday's legislative session, as the debate over sanctuary policies continues to intensify at the Capitol.

In this episode Kyle and Chris reunite after several weeks off. They discuss Chris' family vacation to the frontier lands of West Texas and his friggin' sweet cowboy hat. They then turn to their latest YouTube rabbit-holes including what Chris calls his 'ASMR,' which turns out to be time-lapse videos of landscaping and antique restoration. What's more satisfying than a good 'before-and-after' photo? A few words on seeing Kevin Nealon doing stand-up and Chris' friend's terrarium project, which is a miniature Tolkien forest complete with hobbit-hole, etc. Then we arrive in more somber territory, discussing the decline of race relations in the U.S. and the increasing violent and resentful rhetoric that seems to rampant these days. A few examples from the news courtesy of Governor Pritzker of Illinois and a lowly high school teacher, bring us home. Enjoy ;)
Gov. JB Pritzker sparks backlash after saying Republicans "cannot know a moment of peace." While he claims it wasn't a call to violence, Van Jones warns of a "Volcanic eruption of outrage." The panel breaks down the real agenda behind the rhetoric—and who benefits from division.

If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four Tuesday takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts: ihr.fm/3InlkL8 100 Days of Trump Clay Travis and Buck Sexton dive into a variety of significant topics, starting with the first 100 days of President Trump's second term. They discuss the transformative and fast-paced changes under Trump 2.0, highlighting major investment commitments totaling over $5 trillion from companies like Apple, Nvidia, TSMC, OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank. These investments are expected to generate over 451,000 high-paying jobs, surpassing the achievements of the previous administration. The conversation shifts to the upcoming Vice President JD Vance in the second hour. The hosts express their excitement about discussing key issues such as men's and women's sports, tariffs, the border, and the Trump administration's economic policies. They also touch on the Philadelphia Eagles' visit to the White House and briefly mention the Canadian election results, expressing limited interest in Canadian politics. The hosts analyze the impact of Trump's policies on the economy, emphasizing the importance of maximizing energy production and securing significant trade deals. They debate the potential re-election scenarios for past presidents like Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Ronald Reagan, speculating on their chances if they had been eligible to run for a third term. VP JD Vance Clay and Buck interview Vice President JD Vance. Vance discusses the first 100 days of the Trump-Vance administration, focusing on the success in securing the border, the challenges posed by far-left judges, and the efforts to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse within the government. He also addresses the issue of men competing in women's sports and defends the administration's tariff policies. After Vance's segment, the hosts continue to explore various political and social issues. They discuss the potential presidential candidates for the 2028 election, including Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. The conversation includes speculation about the future of the Democratic Party and the challenges faced by certain candidates due to their backgrounds, including former Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Governor JB Pritzker. The Power of Perception Speaker Mike Johnson praises President Trump's accomplishments in the first 100 days of his second term. Johnson highlights achievements such as removing men from women's sports, ending DEI in the federal government and military, expanding oil and gas extraction, securing trillions in new investments, and combating antisemitism on college campuses. The hosts discuss Senator Tommy Tuberville's enthusiastic support for Trump's performance, grading it an A+. They contrast this with CNN's Harry Enten's analysis, which points out Trump's lower approval ratings compared to his first term and other presidents. Clay and Buck argue that poll numbers are less relevant since Trump is not running for re-election and emphasize the importance of his policy actions over approval ratings. Economic Reality The conversation shifts to the administration's focus on economic issues, particularly inflation. Clay highlights a poll showing that 44% of Americans consider inflation their top economic concern. They discuss the importance of reducing the cost of goods and maintaining economic stability to ensure public support. We're diving into everything from the chaos in Canada to JB Pritzker's call for mass protests — and trust us, it's as dramatic as it sounds. We're breaking down why Chuck Schumer refuses to retire, how Rep. Connolly is fighting his own battles, and why polling shows Americans are losing patience with the economy. We take a closer look at the battle over immigration laws, the left's meltdown over Trump's border policies, and why Karoline Leavitt is absolutely dominating the media game. Plus, we're spilling the tea on Mark Carney's bold move in Canada, Pierre Poilievre's brutal loss, and Trump's hilarious idea of Canada as the 51st state. And don't worry — we saved room for some good old-fashioned smackdowns, ridiculous woke takes, and one particularly unhinged comparison between an ovarian cyst and an abortion.SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS TO SUPPORT OUR SHOW!AURA is your shield--so you stay protected, no matter who's watching. Join Jim and Greg for the latest 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the FBI arresting a Wisconsin judge for helping an illegal alien evade ICE, Colorado Democrats moving to criminalize cooperation with ICE, and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signaling a likely but probably futile 2028 presidential campaign.First, they break down the shocking story of Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan, who allegedly allowed a criminal illegal alien defendant to escape her courtroom through the jury door to prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from taking him into custody. Democrats and the media are trying to portray Dugan's arrest as political retaliation for opposing former President Trump's immigration policies. Jim and Greg explain why that narrative is completely false.Next, they dive into Colorado's efforts to punish government employees, school officials, and others who cooperate with ICE agents. Jim finds it amusing how the left, after years of demanding federal supremacy on immigration, now embraces state power when it suits their agenda. Greg points out that these first two martinis highlight an inescapable conclusion about many Democrats. Finally, they preview the likely 2028 presidential campaign of Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. Jim and Greg note the irony of the multi-billionaire governor trying to position himself as a populist while urging Democrats not to give Republicans a moment's peace. But they see many reasons why Pritzker's likely campaign will be a dud. Please visit our great sponsors:It's free, online, and easy to start—no strings attached. With a momentous decision to return more than 1,500 acres of land 71 miles west of Chicago to the Pottawatomi, Illinois is righting a wrong committed more than 17 decades ago. When Gov. JB Pritzker in late March signed legislation that will give Shabbona Lake State Park to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, this wasn't just acknowledging Native people once lived on the land. Reset explores what this means and why with Dennis Rodkin, residential real estate reporter for Crain's Chicago Business. For a full archive of Reset interviews, head over to wbez.org/reset.
