In the last of our Royal Ascot 2022 previews, George Elek is once again joined by Andy Holding and Johnny to run through Saturday's card.Alfred Munnings is the current even money favourite for the Chesham Stakes but our panel think there's vulnerability in him based on the time figures he's run to date. The Jersey Stakes comes next at 3.05 and Andy has a "strong" fancy in this one with him not being blown away by the quality, he likes Alflaila for Owen Burrows, currently a best price of 8/1It's another short priced favourite in the Hardwicke with Hurricane Lane a best price of 4/5 at the time of writing, William Buick will be hoping for another winner as he hunts down Ryan Moore. Both Andy and Johnny think we're guaranteed to see a non-runner here which would affect each-way backers."Probably the race of the week" Andy describes the Platinum Jubilee as. James McDonald is onboard the Australian Home Affairs who was only narrowly beaten by Nature Strip recently, Andy isn't sure how much you can read into that run for the 15/8 favourite. The Wokingham Stakes looks a hugely open affair with the favourite Fresh currently at 9/1. Johnny think he's a solid bet to be in the frame with some bookies paying up to 8 places. The Golden Stakes handicap is the penultimate race of the meeting. Missed The Cut is the 7/2 favourite as things stand. "Leave this race to Godolphin" is Andy's advice. The week ends with the Queen Alexandra Stakes. With Trueshan likely to withdraw, Andy fancies a 14/1 shot as his bet of the week! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Hurricane Hunting in Hawaii: Pilot Rebecca Waddington - Episode 13

In early August, Hurricane Hector became a major, Category 4 hurricane in the Pacific Ocean. At its closest, Hector came within 200 miles south of Hawaii Island. NOAA dispatched an aircraft, a Gulfstream 4, from its hurricane hunting fleet to Hawaii to collect data for better forecasting the track of Hector. It’s during that mission that the world was quickly made aware of its historical significance because it was the first NOAA hurricane hunting mission piloted by an all-female crew. We’re stoked to have one of these ladies, Lt. Commander Rebecca Waddington, on the podcast today to share her amazing story.   Rebecca returned to Hawaii two more times during the 2018 Pacific hurricane season. One of those missions was to gather data to help forecast the track of Hurricane Lane, a major Category 5 hurricane that made national news as it got dangerously close to Hawaii. Luckily for Hawaii residents and visitors, Lane quickly lost strength as it moved into Hawaiian waters.   Resources https://www.flymauihi.com/ http://flyjonesboro.com/ http://thealoha360.com/ http://www.noaa.gov/ http://www.noaa.gov/marine-aviation https://www.omao.noaa.gov/learn/noaa-commissioned-officer-corps https://www.ed.gov/stem https://www.ninety-nines.org/ https://www.wai.org/   Social Media links: Rebecca: @pilotbex (Twitter), @rjwaddington (IG) NOAA’s Office of Marine & Aviation Operations: @NOAA_HurrHunter (Twitter), @noaaomao (IG)   Get a Kore Aviation headset! In this episode, we start by recapping Hawaii's Little League World Series Win(!) before getting into the destruction and disappointment of Hurricane Lane. Then, at 11:15, we hop into the first of our 2 part series called Southern Stories. Back in May, Ryan went South to see his family and friends and was privileged to sit down with his friend Tony Davison. They're similar in a lot of ways. They're both Christians, they both love football, and they both love performing in theatrical productions. But, there's one big difference -- Tony is black and Ryan is (reeeeeaaally) white. They got into the roles of religion and race in Southern culture, the renaissance of black art, what it's like to grow up as a black man in Alabama, and, of course, the dopest places to eat if you're ever passing through Montgomery, Alabama. Have a listen, let us know what you think. Did you like it? Want to hear more stuff like this? Let us know!
