Was bedeutet: Eine Fortsetzung unseres Talks ist bereits geplant. Stay tuned. Gabby was the first female football anchor on terrestrial television and she's perfected the art of asking great questions, while covering a wide range of international sporting events. In this episode, Matt turns the tables on Gabby, and she speaks with great honesty, sharing moments and insights from her life and career. Sporty and very driven from an early age, Gabby competed at the Commonwealth Games when she was still a teenager. But when her gymnastics career came to an abrupt end, she had to find a new direction. And this big change was followed by the shocking loss of her brother Daniel, when he was just 15 years old. Gabby talks about the impact of grief on her family and how she found the support to deal with her own. She shares how she found confidence as a broadcaster and learned to accept the competitiveness that was forged in a sporting environment. Gabby also reflects on the challenges and the joy she's experienced raising her own family; and the wisdom and life-changing lessons she's gained through her own podcast, The Mid.Point. And I think the thing that's causing people so many problems is being on that hamster wheel; not being able to see what's right in front of them. And that's why it's so helpful to work with somebody. I mean, yes, you can maybe figure this out all by yourself. And people do. But if you can work with somebody, boy that will sure speed up the process. Thoughts On Breathing Wim Hof is a great resource for breathing. He has an 11-minute breathing exercise that he does on YouTube. He teaches people how to do cold therapy. His wife committed suicide, and he was desperately miserable. To save his own beingness, he turned to cold therapy [which is connected to deep breathing]. I encourage people to do that [Wim Hoff work], tune their minds out, and connect. One way to do that is to focus on the warmth between your palms and your thighs while you're in that freezing cold. I found that because I've been doing all this meditation and really lighting up the pineal gland, which is key. That's more of an advanced concept. I incorporate breathwork with my meditation because I find that it greatly deepens it. If you were to do the Wim Hof thing for 11 minutes and then go into your meditation, I think you would find that very deeply expanding. There are so many different ways to do it. You kind of have to mix and match what works best for you. But certainly Leland Holgate and Wim Hof would also be a great way to get started. Bullying Story I think the bullies need help too. They're not going home at the end of the day feeling great because they beat up the little kid. In fact, when people have life reviews, they go back and experience all those blows that they inflicted on another person. Mark Gober does a beautiful job of writing in his book that the golden rule exists in every single religion on the face of the earth. Well, because that's because we are each other. So the way to happiness as Thich Nhat Hanh said, there is no road to happiness. Happiness is the road. The more we can open up our hearts and share it. So the bully is living in fear. He feels like he needs to crush others in order to feel good about himself. He's also a product of that whole system. While I've been sauna'ing for years consistently, the cold plunge is a newer habit I've picked up. First learning about Wim Hoff (the OG of cold plunging) years ago on Rogan, I've been slowly dipping my toes (and body) into various cold tubs. My take is that cold benefits are a bit less agreed upon than sauana benefits, but it's something I'm currently committed to nonetheless. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Anonymous: Hi Doc! Asking for a 36 year old male. He ran the big 5 last year. I'm not sure on the particulars of his results, but I know he has done the detox CBO. Chronic back pain, a reverse curve in his neck shown in chiropractic X-rays. Chronic high blood pressure. Healthy weight, exercises diligently, healthy whole food plant based diet, fairly decent sleep, regular corrective chiropractic care. We recently pieced together that he has systematic vein problems. Temporal Arteritis (self diagnosed), Vericose veins, hemorrhoids, and Varicocele of the scrotum. What would cause this and how can we support his venous/circulatory system? He's been dealing with the varicocele since teen years. Left temple vein pain came a couple of years ago as a result of excessive Wim Hoff breathing. Thanks so much!! Anonymous: Hi dr cabral, I wanted to ask you about your thoughts on raspberry leaf tea to reduce painful period cramps. I have painful periods and I've heard that raspberry leaf tea can help ease the pain. Do you have any studies that you can share regarding this? I'd really like to get your insight on how I can reduce period pain. Thank you. Cara: Hi Dr. Cabral, I'm an IHP2 and I have a friend who has a daughter who has suffered for over 2 years. I have not worked with them yet. However I think this case needs more expertise. She frequently gets lockjaw and it's also osteomyelitis of the jaw, jaw infection, scar tissue from two surgeries, jaw bone deterioration. She's also a bit auto immune. We've seen 4 different naturopaths, 15 different doctors, holistic and regular, mental therapists, all kinds of different western and eastern type of doctors. It's really tough because everyone really doesn't know. They are doing myofunctional + oral posture work currently. She has gone from being vibrant and happy to hurting and shy. Ana: Hi Doc! What are your thoughts on onions and garlic? I'm aware that they're not CBO approved but if someone doesn't have any candida or bacterial overgrowth or any other digestive issues, do you think they should be avoided?According to Ayurveda, onion is tamasic (makes people irritable, agitated and aggressive) in nature and garlic to be rajasic (energy-draining, disturbed sleep and drained energy) in nature. As per Ayurveda, both these ingredients produce excessive heat in the body. However, these vegetables are highly recommended in Naturopathy because raw, crushed garlic has potent therapeutic benefits and red onion for example has loads of antioxidants including quercetin. How often do you consume those foods if you don't mind me asking? Once a week or more regularly? Lindsey: Hello Dr. Cabral, I know you will have an answer to this question. I have asked 3 naturopaths, my midwife and pelvic floor therapist and none have ever done this, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I had a c-section last October and wanted to use proteolytic enzymes to work on the scar tissue in my body. Any issues you see? Can I do it while breastfeeding? Recommended dose? Also, what would you use to strengthen (or make more elastic) the tissue in my uterus, so that I may have less issues in that area if I want to have another baby via VBAC? Thank you for your insight. Does submerging yourself in 44-degree water for 6 minutes sound fun to you? I promise you'll only shake for the first couple of minutes! Well, thanks to people like Wim Hof and Joe Rogan, this practice has actually been gaining a lot of popularity. The benefits of ice baths, or cold water therapy include reduced inflammation and pain relief, and it can even boost your immune system. Some people fill metal tubs with bags upon bags of ice, while some people, like Diego, have a BlueCube. BlueCube makes high-end ice baths that keep the water chilled, flowing, and filtered so you don't have to refill your tub daily with a hundred pounds of ice. In today's episode, we talk with David Haddad, co-founder of BlueCube about:
