The journalist Richie McGinniss has always craved action. As a reporter he's found it – and a lot more – in the chaos of the streets, embedding himself with protestors to cover the most divisive and violent demonstrations in American history.Richie may be a media professional of the new era, posting his intense, on-the-ground videos on social media, but he brings an old-school newsman's credibility from his extensive professional experience and globe-trotting life story.Richie studied Arabic and Middle Eastern history at Georgetown University and subsequently traveled to Jordan, Turkey, Israel, Lebanon, and Egypt's Tahrir Square less than a month before it became the flashpoint for the widespread protests and revolutions that erupted during the Arab Spring. Richie has worked at the Al-Jazeera program, “Min Washington,” broadcasting to households in Arabic throughout the Middle East, at NBC News's Washington Bureau as a production assistant, and as the video director at Daily Caller, where he built a team of ten video producers. While covering the demonstrations in Kenosha, Wisconsin, sparked by the police shooting of Jacob Blake, Richie witnessed Kyle Rittenhouse shoot Joseph Rosenbaum and nearly got shot himself when a bullet ricocheted near his foot. Richie was plunged into the national spotlight and praised for his clear, non-biased, neutral reporting of the violence. On the ground for the January 6, 2021, riot at the US Capitol, Richie not only got closer to the action than virtually any other journalist but emerged with a nuanced understanding of how news events can be interpreted and manufactured by the media. Richie recently published his book, Riot Diet: One Man's Ride Through America in Chaos. I've read Riot Diet and can tell you it's a powerful series of reports from some of the most infamous protest riots of our times. Though definitely not for the faint of heart, I highly recommend Richie's book to anyone interested in an insider's look at some of the people covering those events and how they unfold.https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0DLQXN1DK
Growing up in Connecticut and Long Island, New York, McGinniss studied Arabic and Middle Eastern history at Georgetown University and traveled to Jordan, Turkey, Israel, Lebanon, and Egypt's Tahrir Square less than a month before it became the flashpoint for the widespread protests and revolutions that erupted during the Arab Spring. McGinniss next worked at the Al-Jazeera program “Min Washington,” broadcasting to households in Arabic throughout the Middle East, at NBC News's Washington Bureau as a production assistant, and as the video director at Daily Caller, where he built a team of ten video producers. While covering the demonstrations in Kenosha, Wisconsin, sparked by the police shooting of a black man named Jacob Blake, McGinniss witnessed Kyle Rittenhouse shoot Joseph Rosenbaum and nearly got shot himself when a bullet ricocheted near his foot. McGinniss was plunged into the national spotlight and was praised for his clear, non-biased reporting of the violence. As The New Yorker observed in its trial coverage, “when McGinniss testified, he strove to be as assiduously neutral about the shooting as he had been in interviews with me and with others.” After his appearance on Tucker Carlson was taken out of context by CNN, McGinniss's straightforward appearance not only corrected the record, it also showed how one person can compel a news corporation to diverge from preset talking points and relay to the public the truth behind a shooting that will go down in history as the peak of 2020's unrest. But McGinniss soon found himself a political lightning rod. Donald Trump's MAGA supporters initially celebrated McGinniss for not vilifying Rittenhouse and merely reporting what he saw. During the trial, his role as a named victim put him in the crosshairs of the political right. After Rittenhouse's acquittal on murder charges, McGinniss felt the wrath of Black Lives Matters supporters and others. “I was really the friend of nobody,” he says.
The police shooting of Jacob Blake, and the subsequent killings of two protesters, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and the injury of a third by then-Illinois resident Kyle Rittenhouse two days later sparked outrage and political divisions in Kenosha. Where are voters now?

Ron DeSantis expanded a state of emergency to include more counties as the southern U.S. braces for Hurricane Idalia to make landfall Wednesday. While 33 of Florida's 67 counties were under the previous executive order, DeSantis' updated order issued Monday now includes 46 counties. The National Weather Service said Tuesday that Idalia is "expected to rapidly intensify into an extremely dangerous major hurricane" before making landfall. DeSantis said Monday that Idalia is expected to develop into at least a category 3 hurricane by the time it makes landfall, according to CBS News. The National Weather Service states that with a category 3 hurricane, "devastating damage will occur," and things such as utilities, trees and well-built homes may incur major damages. In preparation for Idalia's landfall, DeSantis fully activated the Florida National Guard, and 5,500 are expected to be mobilized to respond to the storm. Additionally, dozens of public schools have closed down and the state government is taking additional steps to ensure people have access to food. Biden posted Monday on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that he spoke with DeSantis "to inform him that we've approved the Emergency Declaration for Florida as they prepare for Hurricane Idalia," and he said, "Florida has my full support as they prepare for Idalia and its aftermath." https://www.theblaze.com/news/kyle-rittenhouse-sued-by-estate-of-the-child-molester-he-blew-away-in-self-defense Kyle Rittenhouse sued by estate of the convicted child molester he blew away in self-defense Kyle Rittenhouse shot three attackers who mobbed him during a leftist riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Aug. 25, 2020. Two of the three are no more. He was cleared of all charges in 2021. Despite being found not guilty by a jury of his peers, Rittenhouse has since had to fight various efforts to paint him as a villain and to punish him for defending himself. The most recent attempt comes in the form of a civil lawsuit filed by the convicted child molester Joseph Rosenbaum's estate Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Texas Scorecard reported that the suit names Rittenhouse as a defendant along with local sheriff's departments, Kenosha officials, the City of Kenosha, the City of West Allis, and various counties, demanding "compensatory and punitive damages" for the "wrongful death" of Rosenbaum. The Washington Post noted that Rosenbaum spent most of his adult life in prison after preying upon five preteen boys. It appears his life on the outside was marked by rage and rootlessness. For instance, one month prior to his demise, Rosenbaum's fiancée, Kariann Swart, pressed charges against him for domestic abuse. Just hours before catching four bullets, the homeless and bipolar 36-year-old had been released from a hospital following a suicide attempt, reported NPR. Fresh out of the hospital, Rosenbaum joined in the destructive riots that kicked off in response to the non-fatal police shooting of Jacob Blake, whom state prosecutors indicated had been wanted on a felony warrant and was armed with a knife. Rittenhouse's lawyers claimed during his murder trial that Rosenbaum attempted to "engage" the youth, at which point Rittenhouse attempted to flee. Rosenbaum gave chase, threw a sack of belongings at him, then, according to witness testimony, attempted to disarm the then-17-year-old by force. Footage of the incident shows that it was only when the 17-year-old appeared cornered in a car lot did he open fire. In addition to claiming Rosenbaum was a peaceful protester who "was not a danger to himself or others," the Rosenbaum estate cast Rittenhouse in the lawsuit as a menace who "fired his assault rifle indiscriminately multiple times," despite the 17-year-old's documented restraint and sure aim. While Rosenbaum can be seen on film chasing down the boy, the suit alleges that "there was no justification for Defendant Rittenhouse to point his weapon at Joseph Rosenbaum." https://www.foxnews.com/media/federal-judge-dismisses-university-wyoming-students-lawsuit-trans-sorority-member Federal judge dismisses University of Wyoming students' lawsuit against trans sorority member University of Wyoming sorority members’ lawsuit for the inclusion of a transgender student in their organization was dismissed by a federal judge on Friday. In March, several current and former members of the University of Wyoming’s Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority sued the national sorority to revoke the membership allowing what they described as "peeping" transgender student Artemis Langford. Despite the women’s descriptions of Langford’s alleged actions, the judge ruled that the school did not violate any policies by allowing the student to join. "The University of Wyoming chapter voted to admit - and, more broadly, a sorority of hundreds of thousands approved - Langford. With its inquiry beginning and ending there, the Court will not define ‘woman’ today. The delegate of a private, voluntary organization interpreted ‘woman’, otherwise undefined in the nonprofit's bylaws, expansively; this Judge may not invade Kappa Kappa Gamma's freedom of expressive association and inject the circumscribed definition Plaintiffs urge," the judge said. The ruling continued, "Holding that Plaintiffs fail to plausibly allege their derivative, breach of contract, tortious interference, and direct claims, the Court dismisses, without prejudice, Plaintiffs' causes of action." The lawsuit brought by seven members of Kappa Kappa Gamma claimed that Langford violated sorority policies by joining a sorority despite not being a woman or making efforts to appear female. https://dailycaller.com/2023/08/29/biden-ukraine-funding-deal/ Biden Seeks Long-Term Military Aid to Ukraine to Prevent Next President From Scaling Back Funding The Biden administration is seeking to hammer out a long-term Ukraine aid agreement with European allies in hopes of both preventing Russia from gaining an edge on the battlefield and hamstringing a future president’s ability to scale back U.S. commitments, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. The scheme emerged during sideline talks among Group of Seven leaders at a NATO summit in July, and so far involves negotiations between the U.S. and Ukraine, and between the United Kingdom (U.K.) and Ukraine, according to the WSJ. It’s an attempt, in part, to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin he can simply wait until a new American administration, as several top GOP political contenders have expressed intention to reduce or eliminate U.S. aid that makes up the brunt of Western support. Building up Kyiv’s defense forces in the long term can theoretically deter Russia from invading again, officials calculated, according to the WSJ. Former President Donald Trump has maintained a lead in Republican primary candidate polling and could face a second showdown with President Joe Biden in the 2024 election. Trump has claimed he could solve the war “within 24 hours.” At the first Republican primary debate Wednesday, several candidates indicated they would support drawing down aid for Ukraine. Eighteen countries not belonging to the G-7 wealthy democracies, including the Netherlands and Sweden, have also agreed to the long-term security assistance pledge for Ukraine, according to the WSJ. European capitals want to cement support and restrict ways countries could renege on pledges, fearing what might happen during a second Trump administration, according to the WSJ. At present, Western European nations lack the industrial and financial capacity to match the billions in annual military aid provided by the U.S. Since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the U.S. has devoted more than $40 billion worth of weapons and equipment, as well as training and investment into U.S. weapons companies, for the purpose of aiding Ukraine’s resistance. The aid has exposed weaknesses in American military readiness and industrial base capacity, provoking criticism that the U.S. should be using those funds to shore up defenses with an eye toward China as the war in Ukraine drags on with no end in sight. However, the practical workings of the agreement pose significant hurdles to the Biden administration’s goals, the WSJ reported, citing officials. A sitting president has limited ability to bind his successor to any initiative or policy.

Sean talks with Elle Herman about the varieties and modalities of fascism and the carceral dynamics at stake in the institution of criminal prosecution. Elle recently gave a talk for the Karasu Philosophical Society in Albuquerque titled "The Problem of Prosecuting Fascism." In the talk, she focuses on two recent prosecutions of notorious 2020 American vigilantes: Kyle Rittenhouse's trial for fatally shooting Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum and non-fatal shooting of Gaige Grosskreutz at the Jacob Blake protests in Kenosha, WI; and the trial of the McMichaels and William Bryan for the pursuit and murder of Ahmaud Arbery around Brunswick, GA.On Monday, the McMichaels were each sentenced to life in prison +, while Bryan received a sentence to serve 35 years. While Sean interviewed Elle last week, the problems she approaches in her talk are all the more significant to consider in light of these sentencings. Listen to our brief interview at the beginning followed by a recording of Elle Herman's talk, "The Problem of Prosecuting Fascism," from earlier this year.Elle Herman is, among other things, a union and labor organizer and doctoral student at UNM. We will release a video of this talk in the next couple of weeks. Special thanks to Idris Robinson and the Karasu Philosophical Society for sending us a recording of this talk. Our stellar theme song, Cosmic Background Radiation, was composed by Occult A/V. Check out more over on bandcamp.

If Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger had it to do all over again, he thinks he would confront Kyle Rittenhouse with the images of Gaige Grosskreutz “with his arm nearly blown off” and video of Joseph Rosenbaum “gasping out his least breath.”
Dezember. RECAP You have probably heard enough already on the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, but if not, let me do a quick recap. Jacob Blake It all starts with Jacob Blake what had a warrant out for his arrest for 3rd degree sexual assault, trespassing, disorderly conducted related to domestic abuse. That's when this story really starts, Jacob Blake being criminally charged and a subsequent warrant for sexual assault of a woman. Fast forward to 8/23/2020. Woman who filed the complaint called 911 at 5:11pm saying Jacob Blake had taken her car keys despite not legally being allowed on the premises Jacob Blake is 29 years old, 5'9”, and 160lbs. Presumably at that height and weight and age, in pretty decent shape. Police show up and use a taser twice (The woman is yelling he's got my kid he's got my keys) Scuffle with a police officer including putting one officer in a headlock Jacob Blake has a knife and opens the car door and leans in Sheskey fires 7 shots Later Blake admitted “yes I had the knife and I was not thinking clearly” Blake was taken to the hospital, where he survived, but is now paralyzed Ladies and Gentleman, this is what the Kyle Rittenhouse case is all about. I don't know Jacob Blake, I don't know if he had a tough upbringing, I know none of those things…all I know is what I can assess from the facts of this case. Here is a man that has a warrant out for his arrest, that shows up where he's not allowed to be, with a weapon, steals his girlfriend's keys and allegedly her child. He doesn't comply w/ the police officers, has nonlethal tasing used upon him, still doesn't comply, scuffles w/ the police, puts one of them in a headlock, reaches into his vehicle, and then gets shot as the shooting officer, Sheskey, says the thought Blake was trying to kidnap the kid. This entire case, all the subsequent protests, none of this occurs if Jacob Blake 1) Doesn't trespass and 2) complies w/ the officers commands. You have to understand this was the case, because you can't understand the Rittenhouse trial unless you understand the origins. Those are the facts of the case, but make no mistake, BLM and the national media have an agenda. Let's read the headlines from some of these sources. New York Times - Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, was left partly paralyzed after a white police officer shot him seven times in the back outside an apartment complex in Kenosha, Wis. New York Times - “Jacob Blake, Rare Survivor at Center of Police Protests, Starts Telling His Own Story,” Wikipedia - Jacob S. Blake, a 29-year-old black man, was shot and seriously injured by police officer Rusten Sheskey in Kenosha, Wisconsin. USA Today - Shortly after 5 p.m. local time, Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, is shot by police while getting into an SUV with his three sons, ages 8, 5, and 3. A bystander's video appears to show a white police officer grabbing Blake by the back of his shirt as Blake enters his vehicle, then shooting him from behind seven times at close range. You could google this forever. Do you notice anything… every opening sentence includes “black” as the description of Jacob Blake. There is no mention (at least in the headline) of ‘criminal' or ‘trespassing' or ‘sexual assault'….it's just all about the Jacob Blake is black and officer who shot him is white. I wasn't there, although I have seen the video footage…a tragedy for sure. This is why I would never want to be a police officer because I don't ever want to be in that position. Jacob Blake in the Media Given all the facts I've just mentioned, how would you describe Jacob Blake? What are our leaders saying? Kamala Harris spoke to the family & said to “I'm proud of you for working thru your pain” Joe Biden in meeting w/ the family “What I came away with was the overwhelming sense of resilience and optimism that they have about the kind of response they're getting,” Joe Biden further shared that Blake "talked about how nothing was going to defeat him" and said that whether "he walked again or not, he was not going to give up." I'm just curious, he's not going to give up at what? Wielding a knife, sexual assault, attempted kidnapping, resisting law enforcement, or is it something more noble? It is paramount to understand the origins of this story, because the media has made Jacob Blake out to be a hero against white supremacy” Black Lives Matter to be the modern-day expression of Martin Luther King: and Kyle Rittenhouse to be a Swastika, assault-weapon-toting murderer. So this tragedy happened on 8/23. What happened next? The Riot – Rosenbaum, Huber & Grosskreutz Violent protests erupt in Kenosha Wisconsin, businesses were burned to the ground, and rampant looting. Police used rubber bullets and tear gas to control the rioters more than once. Rittenhouse had an AR15 purchased in Wisconsin and was asked to guard a car dealership as well as provide aid to anyone injured, thus the reason he brought a medical kit. Joseph Rosenbaum, having just been released from the hospital that day for a suicide attempt and btw, a career criminal, attacks Rittenhouse and tries to get his rifle. He is shot 4 times and dies. Anthony Huber attacks Rittenhouse with a skateboard hitting him 2x in the head and trying a 3x. Rittenhouse shoots him and is killed. Gage Grosskreutz has a pistol and advances toward Rittenhouse, Rittenhouse shoots him in the arm. Under the “Heroes” Capes As a side note, the prosecutor in this case, suggested that Rosenbaum, Huber, and Grosskreutz were heroes who were responding to an active shooter situation. Really, let's take a quick look at these three: Rosenbaum Open case for misdemeanor bail jumping Domestic battery Disorderly conduct 11 counts of child molestation Inappropriate sexual activity with 5 boys ages 5-11 Registered sex offender in both Arizona and Wisconsin While in the Arizona penitentiary Rosenbaum showed his violent tendencies Assaulting staff Throwing things Assault with a weapon Disobeying orders Drug possession Tampering with security Possession of a weapon Evidence shows on the night in question that Rosenbaum was belligerent, agitated, and repeatedly issues threats to Rittenhouse including “If I catch you alone, I'm going to kill you” Huber Domestic Abuse repeat offender Disorderly Conduct Possessing Drug Paraphernalia 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety Strangulation and Suffocation Felony False Imprisonment Felony Battery Disorderly Conduct Grosskreutz Drunk Driving Forfeiture cases Disobedience to officers Criminal conviction for being drunk w/ a firearm Affiliated w/ the people's revolution, Prowling and lurking near West Allis Police Disorderly Conduct conviction Outcomes Not Due Process Do you remember what I said several podcasts comparing the progressive left and conservatives. Remember, the far left is only concerned with outcomes, not due process. The reason this court case is an atrocity in their eyes, is because it didn't come to the right outcome; it does not matter that the evidence did not support the charge. I'm sure you know the ending - Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted on all counts: COUNT 1: FIRST-DEGREE RECKLESS HOMICIDE, USE OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON COUNT 2: FIRST-DEGREE RECKLESSLY ENDANGERING SAFETY, USE OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON COUNT 3: FIRST-DEGREE RECKLESSLY ENDANGERING SAFETY, USE OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON COUNT 4: FIRST-DEGREE INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE, USE OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON COUNT 5: ATTEMPTED FIRST-DEGREE INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE, USE OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON COUNT 6: POSSESSION OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON BY A PERSON UNDER 18 (Dismissed) COUNT 7: FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH AN EMERGENCY ORDER FROM STATE OR LOCAL GOVERNMENT (Dismissed) I share all of this because I want it fresh in your mind. Make no mistake, national media are calling this a travesty, an audacious outcome, they are calling for Rittenhouse's head. They are beside themselves…none absolutely none of the evidence, including ironclad video evidence can support a guilty verdict, but it doesn't matter; only feelings of outrage matter…and this should matter to you. This case should never have been brought to trial. Worse, this 17 (now 18yr old kid) should spend the rest of his life in jail according to pundits. Why? Because he defended himself. The narrative must be “white supremacy.” True the 3 criminals shot were all white, but they are called “allies” of BLM because they participated in the riots, looting, and burning businesses, so by de facto, Rittenhouse is a bigot and racist. Remember when we discussed Critical Race Theory several weeks ago? This is a perfect example. CRT must create racism where it doesn't exist because it has to tout this narrative that the entire system is racist and must be torn down. Rittenhouse is guilty because he's part of that system and in effective, tried to defend the systemic racist structure when so-called peaceful demonstrators are trying to dismantle the system one riot at a time. The thing that outrages me most is in regards to the prosecution. This is not he first time we have seen this, but it appears outside, national media an political pressure played a MAJOR role in this case being brought to trial. That is what is more concerning more than anything. If a local prosecutor can be influenced by pressure of this magnitude, what happens when another landmark abortion case gets to the supreme court. You are naïve if you think it can't impact those justices as well. WE Can Make a Difference All this leads me to this, how can we make a difference? Right now, there is significant attention being given to School Boards and their shady dealings and rightly so. But if we want to positively impact our country for what is right, and true justice, then we can't stop at the school boards…it truly means we have to be involved at every single level of public service. School boards yes, national congressional elections, yes. But county commissioners, prosecutors, mayors, city councils, etc… we must have our voices heard at every step of the way. We have so much work to do, but that's why the Kingdom Patriot group was formed… we were formed to INFORM so that our voices can unite and make a difference. Kingdom purpose. I could go on an on and on about today's topic, but alas, I must land the plane because my producer is getting animated that time is up for today. The Recap Just to recap, Jacob Blake was a criminal who resisted authorities and was shot. BLM and other protesters used this as a reason for rioting, looting, and destruction. Kyle Rittenhouse showed up to help and in self-defense shot 3 criminals. The media portrays 3 heroes were shot by a white supremacist, but because you listened to The GRID you know different; as Paul Harvey used to say “now you know the rest of the story.” Thanks for joining us for this episode of the GRID.
Episode 71 Recorded on: 11/24/2021 Some personal updates, some disappointing US news, and a few polls from Highlight 74! I'm consumed by madness over the acquittal of the murderer of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber. He should be in jail. The fact that this white man can get away with MURDER and not face the consequences that a black man faces for possession of a dime bag, is fucking insanity. This is white supremacy in action. It's always in action, breeding in the basement of some creepy white boy frat house, or on full display at the highest levels of court. I'm disgusted and enraged. Abolish the system. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sarah-kreutz/support

Joy Reid leads this episode of The ReidOut with breaking news from the Jan. 6 Select Committee, which has issued subpoenas to five more people involved in the planning of the so-called "Stop the Steal" rally, including Alex Jones and Roger Stone. Then, we acknowledge the lives of the three people who were shot when Kyle Rittenhouse crossed state lines into Kenosha and used an assault-style weapon equipped for war. Gaige Grosskreutz is the lone survivor. The two men fatally shot by Rittenhouse were Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber. Anthony Huber's father, John Huber, joins Joy Reid to lament the verdict. Next, we turn to the closing arguments that began today in the trial of the three White men accused of murdering Ahmaud Arbery. Plus, in "The Absolute Worst," Joy deplores Fox News officially completing its metamorphosis from a merely “conservative" news channel into a right-wing propaganda outlet. All this and more in this edition of The ReidOut on MSNBC.
On Friday, Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all charges related to his shooting of three people during riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin last year. The jury deliberated for three and a half days and found Rittenhouse not guilty on all five counts, including charges of reckless homicide in the death of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and intentional homicide in the death of Anthony Huber, 26. As the not guilty verdicts were read, Rittenhouse collapsed into the arms of his lawyer. Experts largely expected the outcome after the judge in the case, Bruce Schroeder, granted a defense motion to drop a gun possession charge against Rittenhouse, which was viewed as the most likely charge to stick. Kyle Rittenhouse found not guilty on all charges Rittenhouse, 18, claimed self-defence in shooting of protesters at racial justice demonstration in Wisconsin last year. A jury in the United States has found Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty of all charges related to the shooting of protesters at a demonstration against racial injustice in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year. Rittenhouse, now 18, had faced a potential life sentence for fatally shooting two demonstrators, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and wounding a third, Gaige Grosskreutz, during the mass protests on August 25, 2020. two counts of homicide, one count of attempted homicide and two counts of recklessly endangering safety. Rittenhouse broke down sobbing after the verdict, which came shortly after the judge warned the courtroom to remain silent or be removed. The widely watched case stirred bitter debate across the US over racism, gun violence, and vigilantism, with several civil rights and racial justice groups denouncing Friday's verdict as a “travesty”. “Rittenhouse's trial highlights an urgent need for reform for both police and the criminal legal system. The system is broken, and it desperately needs to be fixed,” Shaadie Ali, interim executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Wisconsin, said in a statement. The verdict in the #KyleRittenhouse case is a travesty and fails to deliver justice on behalf of those who lost their lives as they peacefully assembled to protest against police brutality and violence,” the NAACP, a racial justice advocacy group, said in a tweet. The Congressional Black Caucus, a group of Black federal lawmakers, added: “It is unconscionable our justice system would allow an armed vigilante … to go free.” --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/Teddy-G/support

GUEST: Michael Collins-Williams, Chief Executive Officer of the West End Home Builders' Association - Ontario high schools will shift back to regular semesters no later than February, returning secondary students to a normal schedule for the first time since the onset of the pandemic. School boards will be able to make the change sooner if they have their local public health unit's support, Education Minister Stephen Lecce announced Thursday. Numerous school boards have requested the move away from “modified semesters,” which saw students take four courses each term, alternating which two classes they had each week. That's the latest from a new Ipsos poll, which found concerns about rising price tags on essentials like groceries and gas are now outranking issues like the COVID-19 pandemic, health care and housing as Canadians' top concern. GUEST: Sean Simpson, VP of IPSOS Public Affairs - A jury on Friday found Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty on charges related to his shooting dead two people at an anti-racism protest and injuring a third in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year, after a tumultuous trial that gripped America. Rittenhouse killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, when he shot them with an assault rifle as he roamed the streets of Kenosha with other armed men acting as a self-described militia during protests in August 2020, after a white police officer shot a Black man, Jacob Blake, in the back. During a summer of civil unrest in 2020, a white police officer shot a 29-year-old black man named Jacob Blake in the back in Kenosha, Wisconsin. This sparked days of protests and rioting in Kenosha. Kyle Rittenhouse, an Illinois resident, drove to Kenosha, saying that he wanted to protect businesses from looters. He brought his Smith and Wesson M&P15 Sport II, an AR-15-style rifle. After a series of chaotic events, Rittenhouse shot and killed two people - Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and he wounded a third, Gaige Grosskreutz. After a widely-publicized trial, the jury today found Rittenhouse not guilty on all counts. Jessica and Joe break down the verdict, its context, and its larger consequences. This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
It appears that the entire nation, for one reason or another, is focused on the trial brought by the thoroughly woke State of Wisconsin surrounding Kyle Rittenhouse for the deaths of Anthony Huber, Joseph Rosenbaum and the shooting of Gaige Grosskreutz. At the same time, DHS Secretary Mayorkas has stated, "Justice is our priority. That includes securing our border and providing relief to those [migrants] who qualify for it under our laws." In other words, DHS Secretary Mayorkas was telling the Senate committee that Americans should not have a secure border until they also provide justice for migrants. This whole discussion of what "justice" means to the Biden Administration is vitally important for everyone to understand. Is there a different "justice" for those considered oppressed by the Biden Administration as opposed to those of us that they have placed in an “oppressor” category? If so, are there two systems of justice in the United States? The answer to this question is that the only "justice" that is of any concern to the Biden Administration is "social justice." A Marxist-inspired “justice” that is applied to collective groups in the midst of a massive revolution that is being waged in the United States. Eighteen year old Kyle Rittenhouse stood trial for his role last August in the shooting deaths of two men, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and for injuring a third man named Gaige Grosskreutz in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
This is Father Jared Cramer from St. John's Episcopal Church in Grand Haven, Michigan, here with today's edition of Christian Mythbusters, a regular segment I offer to counter some common misconceptions about the Christian faith. As I write this week's episode, deliberations have just begun in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse for homicide in the deaths of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, along with the gunshot injury to Gaige Grosskreutz. Alongside of Rittenhouse's trial, we have been watching the prosecution make its case against Greg McMichael, his son Travis, and their neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan, who chased down Ahmaud Arbery before Travis McMichael allegedly shot him (supposedly) in self-defense. Both of these trials are tremendously polarizing and have resulted in significant pressure on all sides of the political aisle. They involve questions of gun rights, self-defense, freedom of speech, freedom to protest, among a host other questions… not the least of which are the persistent realities of racism in our country. This is all seen in the context of the Black Lives Matter movement, the continued controversies surrounding that movement's condemnation of the continued deaths of people of color in our country. All that political heat can make it hard to see, sometimes. So, I'd like to take a moment, now, before I even know what the results of Rittehouse trial are or what the results of the trial of the men whose actions led to the death of Ahmed Arbery, I'd like to take a moment and talk about the church and the question of “Black Lives Matter.”Because we need to be honest, brutally honest, that one of the reasons our society does not seem to value black lives as much as the lives of white people is because of the ways in which Christianity supported and is complicit in narratives of white supremacy. The transatlantic slave trade was founded on Christianity. A series of popes in the fifteenth century argued for the enslavement of non-Christians as “an instrument for Christian conversion.” Thomas Aquinas drew from Aristotelian understandings of slavery to insist that the slave was the rightful and natural instrument and property of the owner. Christians merged Aquinas's understanding of the “natural slave” with the idea of Ham's curse in the Hebrew Bible, insisting (without any true proof in the text, I might add) that Africans had inherited that curse and that slavery was their natural state. And so it was that Christians insisted slaves should obey their master, that masters were at total freedom to punish—even kill—any slave that resisted. When the Civil War concluded, Christianity was a driving force behind segregation, insisting that this was a biblical principal and that the government must not infringe upon our freedoms… And so one of the founding principles of the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist groups after the Civil War was their belief that they were protecting their Christian nation. And it's not just a question of Christian support of racism and slavery, it is also about the hesitance of the broader church to speak out and denounce those views when they occurred. In the book The Color of Compromise, author Jemar Tisby tells the story of what happened after four young girls were killed in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, during the Civil Rights Movement. A white lawyer got up in front of an all-white business club and asked them who was responsible for throwing the bomb. He then answered his own question, saying, “We all did it.” Tisby goes on, noting, “Every time that the white community—especially Christians—failed to confront racism in its everyday, mundane forms, they created a context of compromise that allowed for an extreme act of racial terror like planting dynamite at a church. That's the idea of complicity.”All of this Christian complicity with racism lies uncomfortably under the deaths of black people in our country right now. The church must own that history. The church must repent of that history. The church must do something to make right the history we have helped write. And in the trials currently happening in our country, Christians must demand justice. They must demand justice for a system that lets a cop go free when he shoots a twelve-year old black child who has a toy gun. A system that also seems to suggest that a seventeen-year old white boy with an assault weapon posed no threat. The reason it doesn't feel to many people like Black Lives Matter right now is because Christians have spent centuries saying they don't matter the same. Christians today must stand up and say, enough. Christians today must make good upon the calling of God to resist injustice, to affirm the dignity of every human being. If Christians cannot say Black Lives Matter and repent of our complicity in the sins of racism… then Christians should not be surprised if the rest of the modern world has no interest anymore in our religion. Jury deliberations are underway in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse. The 17-year-old is charged with homicide following the shooting deaths of Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum. The shooting occurred during the Black Lives Matter protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last summer.Meanwhile, in Brunswick, Georgia, the trial of Greg and Travis McMichael for the shooting death of Ahmad Arbery is now going ongoing. The men are charged with homicide after shooting Arbery while he was on a run last February. The defense claimed Arbery was a burglar and they were defending property. Both cases are predicated on the argument of self-defense. Will the jurors find that the McMichaels and Rittenhouse were justified in their actions?Want to support 1A? Give to your local public radio station and subscribe to this podcast. Have questions? Rittenhouse killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz during the demonstration in Kenosha in August 2020. His trial began Monday. Rittenhouse argues that he fired in self-defense after the men attacked him; prosecutors say he inserted himself into a volatile situation and that video from the plane will show he chased Rosenbaum. Today on Sojourner Truth: One of two contentious and highly-watched court trials in U.S. history are now taking place, both of which will have an impact on race relations in the country. One of them is the trial of three white men accused of killing a young Black jogger last year in broad daylight in Georgia. Ahmaud Arbery was shot on February 23, 2020 by Gregory and Travis McMichael, and pursued by William Bryan. Today, we focus on the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, the 18-year-old young white man who shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, as well as seriously wounding Gaige Grosskreutz. Our guest is Kieran Knutson, President of CWA Local 7250 and has been active in protests in solidarity with George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement. Kieran is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Also, on Saturday, November 13, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP26, came to a close. The conference, which took place in Glasgow, Scotland, has been described by many as a failure and a disappointment. Like many of the decisions that came out of the COP26 climate summit, the final agreement has been widely critiqued as being weak and ineffective. Our guest is Tom Goldtooth, the executive director of the Indigenous Environmental Network. Tom has been awarded with recognition of his achievements throughout the past 40 years as an activist for social change and indigenous-based just transition within the Indigenous and environmental and climate justice movements.

With booster jabs being pushed on the people of the world there has been a boost of people power against continuing pandemic powers and restrictions. I look at the world being at another important crossroads on this week's Tim's News Explosion. On Saturday afternoon Melbourne saw another record-breaking turnout for a non-communist protest. The latest kill the bill rally against Dan Andrews' permanent pandemic laws saw 50,000 attended. More have felt comfortable in attending such rallies over the past three weeks with Victoria Police now allowing peaceful protests. The Saturday Age featured an investigative spread on the rising Victorian Police state with the growth in police and prison funding outstripping health and education services. AFL player Liam Jones has decided to retire from the game rather than submit to the AFL and Victorian vaccination mandate forgoing a $500,000 annual salary. AFLW player Deni Varnhagen who is also a registered nurse has given up two careers for not being vaccinated, she has praised Jones. In the Northern Hemisphere where winter is approaching Central European nations are reintroducing restrictions despite high vaccination rates: Austria has announced a lockdown for the unvaccinated and the Netherlands has announced a partial lockdown for both the fully vaccinated and unvaccinated. With Israel flattening its curve again with third booster doses it is highly likely boosters will be mandated in Australia. The UK Johnson Government has resisted a media campaign to reintroduce restrictions instead focusing on its booster rollout. Leaked to the Daily Mail UK is a plan by the Johnson Government to completely dismantle its covid tracing and isolation protocols called Operation Rampdown. The trial of Kyle Rittenhouse has taken place in Wisconsin which has been disastrous for the state prosection as all the evidence shows that Kyle shot and killed two Antifa criminals including known pedophile Joseph Rosenbaum in self-defense. The trial Judge Bruce Schroeder eviscerated the state prosecutors for trying to bring into the trial Kyle doing the okay sign with some Proud Boys with a shirt that said 'free as fuck'. A federal appeals court granted former President Trump's request to pause the release of key White House records from his presidency to the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The former President appealed a lower court's decision that he can't claim executive privilege to keep them secret. CNN Chief Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin tells Anderson Cooper what exactly this move by the court of appeals means for the House investigation. Plus, the defense rested in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial after calling ten witnesses. The 18-year-old gave a tearful testimony in his own defense as he faces charges that he killed Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz using an AR-15-style rifle during protests last summer following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Grosskreutz joins AC360 to discuss Rittenhouse's testimony and says it seemed “like a child being upset because they were caught, not upset because of what they had done wrong.” To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy

Led by George Floyd's nephew Cortez Rice, Antifa and BLM are now threatening judges and jurors in cases involving Duante Wright and Kyle Rittenhouse. And since law enforcement is nowhere to be found, they've been emboldened to continue behaving like this. Indeed, they've already promised to continue threatening judges and juries until they get the outcome they want. Interestingly enough, convicted Jewish child rapist Joseph Rosenbaum has joined the ranks of BLM martyrs. How did that happen? I've got the latest! This is EPISODE 790 of So to Speak w/ Jared Howe!
The Judge in the Kyle Rittenhouse case excused an unknown juror during day 4 of the trial. Allegedly, the juror made a bad joke about Jacob Blake. Government prosecutor Thomas Binger calls Witness Ryan Balch who testifies that Joseph Rosenbaum verbal threatened to kill both him and Kyle Rittenhouse. Balch describes Rosenbaum as being “hyper aggressive” throughout the night.NEW! CLIPS FROM THE SHOW GO HERE:
On August 25, 2020, after the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Kyle Rittenhouse, shot and killed two men and wounded another during confrontations at two locations. He was armed with a Smith & Wesson M&P15 rifle. Rittenhouse, a then 17-year-old from Antioch, Illinois, said he was there to provide medical aid as he was carrying a medkit. At the first location, Rittenhouse was pursued by a group, including a Kenosha resident Joseph Rosenbaum. A gunshot was fired into the air by a third party, and Rosenbaum lunged at Rittenhouse and attempted to take his rifle. Rittenhouse then fired four times at Rosenbaum, who died shortly afterwards. At the second location, Rittenhouse tripped while fleeing and was kicked by a man. Rittenhouse fired twice at the man, but missed. Protesters approached Rittenhouse while he was still on the ground. Then Silver Lake resident Anthony Huber struck Rittenhouse with a skateboard and struggled for control of his rifle. Rittenhouse then fired at Huber once, killing him. West Allis resident Gaige Grosskreutz then approached Rittenhouse while holding a handgun, and Rittenhouse shot him once, severing his right bicep. Now he is 18, and being tried as an adult, facing homicide and several other serious charges. To help us break down what's happening in this trial —from a defense point of view— criminal defense attorney Joe Rosenbaum (who ironically has the same name as one of the two men Rittenhouse shot and killed) joins Katrina Daniel for a deep dive into this fast and deadly crime spree. The prosecution opened the trial by claiming Rittenhouse chased down Joseph Rosenbaum while wielding his AR-15. We'll break down some of the statements made today during the trial. Terry McAuliffe closed his campaign with the message that there are too many white teachers in Virginia and he wants to even out the numbers to make everyone comfortable. Is this actually a winning strategy or just woke pandering that will ultimately lead to defeat? That decision is up to the citizens of Virgina. Colin Kaepernick, former football player and woke crusader, says white people only like black characters with “white characteristics” in his new documentary. Is this really a true statement, or is Kaepernick simply pushing his racial agenda? It seems like there are plenty of examples where this isn't the case, but that wouldn't drive his narrative. The Kyle Rittenhouse trial begins - with ABC News legal correspondent Royal Oakes. If you run into a riot and start shooting, can you claim self defense? The trial will feature a bevy of video showing Rittenhouse's movements that night, including infrared video filmed from above Kenosha. The heart of the trial is the analysis of Rittenhouse's actions and whether they can be considered "reasonable." Rittenhouse, now 18, fired an AR-15-style weapon eight times in all during the unrest: four shots at an unarmed Joseph Rosenbaum, two shots at an unarmed unknown individual, one shot at an unarmed Anthony Huber and one shot at an armed Gaige Grosskreutz. Rittenhouse is charged with five felonies: first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety. He is also charged with misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon under the age of 18 and a non-criminal violation of failure to comply with an emergency order. He has pleaded not guilty.
